My Boss Transmigrated Into a Maid and I Became Gay - Chapter 14
Perhaps it was the plot’s momentum at work, but even though Lu Ying hadn’t felt sleepy initially, leaning against the maid’s shoulder with the intention to sleep did the trick. It took almost no time at all for her to drift off into dreamland.
When she opened her eyes again, she was back in her small rented apartment.
The strange thing about sleeping in the Mary Sue world was that waking up in reality felt perfectly seamless, just like a natural awakening from a regular night’s rest.
She took a moment to collect herself, then it hit her: she hadn’t even gotten to the long-awaited lunch scene yet.
Dammit, now I have to wait another day!
Frustrated, Lu Ying kicked her legs against the mattress before finally dragging herself out of bed.
Today, she planned to scroll through her old Weibo posts to see if there were any other wishes she wanted to fulfill; she’d compile them and write them all into this novel. But before that, she had to help Sister Zhuan pack and move.
Sister Zhuan’s ex still had several appliances she’d bought, and she had no intention of letting that man keep them for free. They were heading over today to move everything to her new place, and Lu Ying had volunteered to help.
Sister Zhuan was already awake and breakfast was ready. The moment Lu Ying stepped out, she was greeted by a delicious meal.
Usually, she only got the “ready-made breakfast” treatment when she went home to her parents. Thanks to Sister Zhuan, she had been eating her fill every morning lately.
Tomorrow, this treatment ends… Lu Ying felt a three-second wave of disappointment, but she cheered up when she remembered she could just eat her fill in the Mary Sue world tonight.
Hah! I won’t even need to eat breakfast in the real world anymore!
After the meal, Yu Linchuan went into Lu Ying’s bedroom to gather her clothes and pack her bags.
Once everything was finally ready, Yu Linchuan let out a sigh and patted her suitcase. “Let’s take the bags straight over, then we’ll call a van to haul the appliances away.”
Lu Ying snickered. “Good. Let’s move them right in front of his face. It’ll drive him crazy!”
“Exactly! Drive him crazy!” Yu Linchuan said through gritted teeth. Then she grabbed Lu Ying’s arm and gave it a shake. “But Sakura, the place I’m moving to is so far from here. It won’t be easy for you to come over and crash my meals anymore.”
Lu Ying patted her shoulder and said earnestly, “Young lady, there’s more than one way to ‘crash’ a meal. Don’t be so rigid.”
Yu Linchuan immediately struck a listening pose. “Pray tell, what other ways are there?”
Lu Ying gave her a cheeky grin. “You can cook it and bring it to me at the office!”
Yu Linchuan rolled her eyes. “Keep dreaming. You can have anything you want in your dreams.”
Hearing this, Lu Ying nodded solemnly.
Her dreams really did have everything.
She let out a few mysterious chuckles, earning a look from Yu Linchuan. “What are you smirking at? Daydreaming?”
Lu Ying ignored her, keeping her little secret to herself as she happily put on her coat.
The two booked a small van and headed straight to the apartment Sister Zhuan had shared with her ex.
Returning to the place left Yu Linchuan a bit dazed. “It feels like a dream,” she said in the elevator. “Just last week, I still thought of this place as home. I’d come back from work and scramble to cook for him, and we’d watch movies or play games together at night…”
Lu Ying tugged at her sleeve. “Don’t think about it. The past is in the past. We’re looking forward now.”
“I know, I know. I’m a sane person, okay? I’m not going back to eat trash.” Yu Linchuan smiled, stepped out of the elevator, and pulled out her keys to open the door.
A smell of mixed takeout hung in the air, with a distinct sour, rancid undertone. Lu Ying pinched her nose in disgust at the doorway. “Is this a place for humans to live?”
“Let’s just finish moving and get out.” Yu Linchuan frowned too, surveying the living room. It felt terrifyingly foreign.
Even though she’d only been gone for a few days, the bouquet on the dining table that should have been basking in the sunlight had lost all its vitality. The withered, yellowing flowers hung their heads, much like the relationship she had decided to forget.
The air was no longer fresh; it was nauseating.
Yu Linchuan walked silently to the kitchen and called Lu Ying over to help move the toaster oven, electric kettle, and a series of other appliances.
The man in the bedroom had been sleeping, but woke up upon hearing the noise outside. He comforted the woman beside him, who was half-awake and asking what was going on, then pulled on a pair of pants and shuffled out in his slippers.
As luck would have it, Lu Ying was carrying the toaster oven past the bedroom door just as it swung open. She turned and found herself face-to-face with the half-naked man.
“…”
The “hickeys” on the man were far too obvious. Lu Ying’s face immediately contorted into a mask of pain, and she jerked her head away.
God. I need to go back and look at some beautiful people to bleach my eyes!
The ex-boyfriend hadn’t expected a strange beauty at his door. He froze, not even asking a question, and ducked back in to throw on a T-shirt. By the time he came back out, the beauty was gone, replaced by his “lower-tier” ex-girlfriend.
The ex-boyfriend frowned. “What are you doing here?”
Yu Linchuan instinctively glanced into the room and saw long hair scattered on the pillow. Her stomach churned; she nearly threw up.
How could it be this disgusting?
She didn’t want to say a single word. She grabbed the induction cooker and headed out. Seeing what she was carrying, the ex-boyfriend’s voice rose. “Yu Linchuan, what is the meaning of this?”
By the door, Lu Ying had just set down the toaster oven. Hearing the tone and fearing Sister Zhuan was being bullied, she scrambled back inside. “What do you mean ‘meaning’? Use those two little eyes and see for yourself. We’re taking our stuff. Go back to bed so you don’t have to hear us cuss you out.”
Even though Lu Ying was completely bare-faced today, her features were naturally exquisite—soft yet not weak, and full of poise. Even with her eyes narrowed fiercely, she was stunning.
Face-to-face with a beauty, the ex-boyfriend couldn’t find any harsh words, so he turned his shouting toward Yu Linchuan. “We bought this stuff together! What right do you have to take it?”
Yu Linchuan was fierce when she called him to scream over the phone, but facing him in person, she found herself at a loss for words. Seeing this, Lu Ying stepped in front of Sister Zhuan. Gritting her teeth, she snapped, “That’s hilarious. Did you help pick it out, help buy it, or help pay for it? You haven’t even used it more than a handful of times! She bought this stuff, so of course she’s taking it. Even the sheets and blankets were hers, if it weren’t for the fact that a ‘dog couple’ slept on them, making them too filthy to touch, we’d be taking those too! If you’re so capable, stop eating and using other people’s things while you’re out cheating. If you’re not, then shut your mouth so we don’t have to waste our breath on you!”
The woman in the room was finally fully awoken by the shouting, but she guiltily shrank under the covers and didn’t dare show her face.
Scolded thoroughly and knowing he was in the wrong, the ex-boyfriend gnashed his teeth and slammed the bedroom door shut.
Lu Ying rolled her eyes and pulled Sister Zhuan out. “Don’t waste your anger on a ‘little mushroom’ like him.”
“You already chewed him out so well, why would I still be angry?” Yu Linchuan was amused. She set the things by the door and looked at Lu Ying with a sigh. “How did you turn out so good, Sakura?”
Lu Ying tossed her hair and blew her a playful wink. “Can’t help it. Born this way. Perfect in every way.”
“…” Yu Linchuan was blinded by her narcissism and went back to moving things.
Once everything was out, the driver of the van came up with a handcart to help them haul it all downstairs.
It was a long way from there to Sister Zhuan’s new rental. Sister Zhuan suggested Lu Ying just head home, but Lu Ying insisted on following her to the new place to see her settled and learn the way.
The new complex was indeed far; it took over an hour to get there. After hauling everything upstairs with the driver, Lu Ying collapsed on the sofa while Sister Zhuan handled the payment.
The sofa was pretty comfortable, but still a step below the one in the Mary Sue world.
According to her analysis, the main difference was that this sofa lacked a charming maid.
Lu Ying inexplicably began reminiscing about her moments with “President Jian.” When Yu Linchuan came back and saw her grinning like a fool, she waved a hand in front of her face. “What are you smirking at?”
Lu Ying instantly wiped the smile off her face and asked seriously, “Was I smiling?”
Yu Linchuan nodded. “You were.”
Lu Ying cupped her face in horror. Why was she smiling? Just thinking about the little maid shouldn’t be that funny, right?
No, no, no… I can’t let the novel world influence my mood in reality!
Panicking internally, she forced a laugh to change the subject. “Hey, this complex is pretty nice. New buildings, good security, full facilities.”
Yu Linchuan didn’t press her and started chatting about the complex instead.
They talked for a while, and Lu Ying stayed for a “crashed” lunch before finally heading home, satisfied.
The place was far from the subway, with only bus stops nearby. Lu Ying, the “poor girl” who couldn’t afford a cab, checked the route and started walking. However, her navigation showed that the west gate of the complex was sealed off with a sign that read: “Please use the South Gate.”
She had to re-navigate to the South Gate. The complex was large, and with her terrible sense of direction, she wandered in circles twice without finding it.
She had no choice but to find someone to ask.
She looked around and saw a woman taking out the trash a few steps ahead. She hurried up behind her and asked, “Excuse me, sorry to bother you, but could you tell me how to get to the South Gate?”
The woman was in loungewear with a trench coat draped over her shoulders, her long black hair tied back casually. She was checking her phone while tossing the trash. Hearing the voice behind her, she stiffened for a moment, then turned around.
It was Lu Ying’s turn to freeze.
“…”
Holy s—t!
President Jian!!!
