My Boss Transmigrated Into a Maid and I Became Gay - Chapter 11
Now that the room was booked and the die was cast, Lu Ying spent a moment mourning her own tragic fate before steeling herself to follow President Jian to buy drinks and snacks.
As they passed a milk tea shop, Jian Qin stopped. “Do you drink milk tea?”
Lu Ying shook her head. “No, I worked part-time at a shop during university. I drank so much of it then that I got sick of it. Now I prefer something lighter.”
Hearing this, Jian Qin’s thoughts suddenly drifted back to a time long, long ago.
She could almost see a girl with short hair wearing a little yellow duck hat. Upon seeing her enter the shop, the girl had waved enthusiastically.
“Hi! You’re here! How was work today? Smooth? Hmm… caramel pudding milk tea today, or lemonade?”
…
Jian Qin snapped out of her daze and glanced at the menu. “How about lemonade then?”
“I’ll take it!”
Jian Qin nodded and bought two cups.
Twenty minutes later, they were in the private cinema with their lemonade, popcorn, potato chips, and small cakes. The room was larger than expected. The sofa in the center was covered in heart-shaped pillows, and a vase on the coffee table held several white roses. To Lu Ying, the atmosphere felt a little… eerie.
I guess only couples usually come to places like this…
She pretended not to see the romantic decor and went to the screen to pick a movie. Jian Qin watched beside her for a moment, then pointed. “Is that one okay?”
It was a romantic comedy about time travel. Lu Ying had wanted to see it a few years ago but never got around to it. Genuinely interested, she agreed. “Great! I’ve wanted to watch this for ages.”
Jian Qin’s lips curved upward; she seemed to be in an excellent mood.
The movie started, and the lights dimmed to their lowest setting. Lu Ying was nervous at first, fearing the awkwardness, but she soon became so absorbed in the plot that she forgot her surroundings. By the end, when the leads finally met across a street in the present day after overcoming countless obstacles, the emotional Lu Ying couldn’t hold back her tears. She began to sob softly.
Jian Qin, silently handing her the tissue box: “…”
Wasn’t this a happy-ending comedy? How did she end up in tears?
After her cry, Lu Ying felt a bit embarrassed. She turned away, wiped her eyes, and pulled out a small mirror to check if her makeup was still intact. She had no idea where this sudden “idol baggage” came from.
Amused, Jian Qin tossed their empty cups into the bin. Thinking of the movie’s themes, she turned back and asked, “Do you believe in time travel? Or transmigration?”
The lingering sentiment from the movie vanished instantly. Alarm bells rang in Lu Ying’s head. She shoved a piece of popcorn into her mouth to steady her nerves and gave a fake laugh. “I don’t think so. From a physical or temporal perspective, it’s highly improbable. I’m a firm believer in science.”
She put on such a convincing act of being a dedicated scientist that she almost believed herself.
Jian Qin gave her a long look. “Mm. I don’t believe in it either.”
Lu Ying breathed a sigh of relief. This confirmation made her more certain that the woman in the Mary Sue world was just a common NPC.
With the mugs bought and the socializing done, the mission was a success. Lu Ying suggested that the boss go home and rest, and Jian Qin agreed, offering to drive her back.
The private cinema had been small enough; the thought of being trapped in a car with Jian Qin was a recipe for death by awkwardness. Lu Ying quickly fabricated a rejection. “Thanks, President Jian, but I’m actually meeting Yu Linchuan. She’s viewing apartments with an agent and should be back soon.”
Jian Qin looked like she wanted to say more but refrained. “Alright. See you Monday.”
“Bye, President Jian! See you Monday!”
Lu Ying waved her off with a smile and skipped away with her new mug. Behind her, Jian Qin stood motionless, watching her back until she disappeared from sight before turning toward the parking garage.

The moment she was clear of the “danger zone,” Lu Ying broke into a little jog, cheering for her newfound freedom.
Whoo! Socializing is over!
Dealing with the boss is just too hard!
Still, it had been a good day. A beautiful woman, a movie, delicious snacks, and a perfect new mug. While waiting for her ride, she pulled out her phone to vent to “Rainbow Doggy-Egg.”
Sakura-chan: My life is so hard. Transmigrating by night, socializing with the boss by day.
Rainbow Doggy-Egg: Oho? Any new stories for me? [WatchingDrama.jpg]
Sakura-chan: The posted plot ended, so I transmigrated into the draft content last night.
Lu Ying recountingly described, with metaphorical tears of pain, her two-day streak of missing out on breakfast.
Rainbow Doggy-Egg: Hahahaha! Are you trying to kill me with laughter so you can inherit my unfinished novels?
Sakura-chan: Shut it. I’m afraid to write anything now. Whatever I write, I end up in. I definitely wouldn’t want to transmigrate into one of your horror-suspense novels!
Rainbow Doggy-Egg: Wait, isn’t this great? If you want to eat well, just write a scene with a royal feast!
Sakura-chan: …You actually make a lot of sense.
Rainbow Doggy-Egg: Of course! If I were you, I wouldn’t be worrying. I’d write everything I want to do in real life into the novel. It would be amazing.
Sakura-chan: Doggy-Egg, in all the time I’ve known you, this is the first time I’ve realized how brilliant you are.
Rainbow Doggy-Egg: It’s common sense! You’re just slow!
Lu Ying fell silent. She really had been slow. As she sat in the car, she considered her friend’s words. It was incredibly tempting. When an uncontrollable supernatural event occurs, one’s first instinct is to flee. But since she couldn’t escape, why not enjoy it?
As long as no one saw her vanish while she slept, this was essentially a supernatural perk. Things she couldn’t have, food she couldn’t afford, places she couldn’t go—she could have them all in the novel. The Mary Sue world didn’t need logic.
Look at her—she had brazenly held the maid’s hand yesterday. In reality, she’d have been slapped for that!
Sakura-chan: Oh my god! Does this mean I can do whatever I want in the book world?!
Rainbow Doggy-Egg: Duh. You could take a helicopter to the top of Mt. Everest and no one would stop you.
Sakura-chan: Fine! Tomorrow I’m writing in a new transfer student based on a hottie, just to see how handsome he is in person!
Rainbow Doggy-Egg: ????? Excuse me, leave my 2D husband out of this 🙂
Rainbow Doggy-Egg: By the way, if you really want to end it, try writing [THE END].
Sakura-chan: What? Does that work?
Rainbow Doggy-Egg: Why not? If it works, you go back to normal. If it fails, you haven’t lost anything.
Sakura-chan: True… I’ll think about it.

Lu Ying’s mood, which had lightened, became heavy again. She tried to ignore the strange feeling in her heart and told Doggy-Egg about nearly being caught by her colleague.
By the time she reached the restaurant to meet Sister Zhuan, she had reached a decision. She didn’t want to leave the Mary Sue world just yet. It didn’t affect her real life, so why not stay a while? She could fulfill all her old wishes before writing “The End.”
That night, she lay in bed and stretched. She was actually looking forward to tonight. She had written a scene where the Fourth Brother had lunch with her in a private dining hall at school—essentially a mini-banquet.
Lunch will definitely be better than breakfast, she thought, rubbing her hands together. Then she remembered the maid’s burn. She didn’t know why the NPC was injured, but she knew it hurt. She wanted the “Jian-Qin-NPC” to get better.
She sat up, grabbed her phone, and added a small detail to the chapter: a magical ointment for burns that heals instantly.
At 11:00 PM, she lay down. Thanks to the bit of beer she’d had with Sister Zhuan, she fell asleep faster than usual.
When she woke, she was back in the dining hall with the Wagyu and foie gras. This time, she wasn’t angry about the clearing of the table; she was focused on the upcoming lunch.
As before, the maid changed clothes and they headed for the car. To her slight disappointment, the plot didn’t change based on her “edits” from that morning—the maid didn’t take the initiative to hold her hand. The butler and bodyguards were still there.
Fine, I guess I’ll have to be the one to grab her hand again.
Throwing caution to the wind, she reached out and took the maid’s hand.
Jian Qin: “…”
She had assumed that once a “quest” was completed, she wouldn’t have to deal with the NPC’s difficult behavior in the replay. Thinking of how Lu Ying had flinched away from her touch in the real world earlier that day, Jian Qin bit her lip. She found she didn’t actually mind. She let the Young Mistress lead her.
They reached the gates. The moment the Third Brother started his lecture, Lu Ying—unwilling to waste time—interrupted him. “Bye, Third Brother! I’m going to be late for school! Let’s talk tonight!” She hurriedly pulled her little maid into the car.
A crack appeared in the Third Young Master’s icy mask.
How could this be… did his sister stop loving him? She used to love listening to him talk. He clutched his chest as the car sped away.
So… is this what heartbreak feels like?
