Mistakenly Seen as a Scumbag by My Wife with Seven Personalities - Chapter 2
“Darling, underwear.”
At 8:50 AM, Gu Fei got out of bed.
Before this, Gu Lian had sent her several more messages.
Each message grew increasingly intense in tone.
Yet she hadn’t responded to any of them.
By 9:05 AM, she emerged from the bathroom, having tidied everything up.
A black-toned shirt hugged her slender frame, barely adding a touch of steadiness to her overly delicate features.
As she adjusted her collar in the mirror, Gu Fei noticed several red marks on her collarbone. She brushed her fingertips over them lightly, then lowered her gaze, her cheeks flushing slightly as she fastened one more button.
On the bed, Qin Qingwei was already exhausted and asleep. Before leaving, Gu Fei rearranged the blanket in front of her, covering the equally suggestive red kiss marks on her chest and neck.
By the time Gu Fei appeared at the entrance of the conference room, it was already 9:10 AM.
Secretary Xiao Chen was waiting for her by the door, holding a stack of documents.
“President Gu, the project documents were distributed to all the board members at the start of the meeting. The response has been quite positive, except. Director Gu’s expression doesn’t look too good.”
Before Gu Fei entered the conference room, the secretary whispered a reminder to her.
“It’s fine.”
Nodding in acknowledgment, Gu Fei stepped into the conference room.
The eyes of all the board members were fixed on her. Gu Fei walked to the head of the table, paused, and gave a slight bow of apology before taking her seat.
“Give me an explanation.”
From the seat to her left, Gu Lian set down the documents beside her and spoke coldly.
“Sorry for being late.”
Gu Fei lowered her gaze and responded softly, offering no further explanation for her tardiness.
Staring intently at her from the side, Gu Lian let out a cold laugh.
“You claim you don’t want this position, yet on your very first day, you put on airs. Gu Fei, you’re as childish as ever.”
Frowning slightly, Gu Fei picked up the coffee in front of her and took a sip, choosing not to respond.
Since childhood, Gu Lian had always treated her this way. No matter what Gu Fei did, Gu Lian was never satisfied.
There was a sixteen-year age gap between them. Back when Gu Fei’s mother struggled to conceive, she adopted Gu Lian from an orphanage, fully intending to groom her as the heir. Unexpectedly, she later became pregnant with Gu Fei, and from that moment on, Gu Lian’s status in the Gu family changed.
So even though Gu Lian never showed her any kindness, Gu Fei understood.
After their mother passed away, the Gu Corporation flourished under Gu Lian’s management. On her eighteenth birthday, Gu Fei had told Gu Lian that she was willing to relinquish the inheritance rights left to her by their mother. They were family, she said, and it didn’t matter who held the position.
But Gu Lian hadn’t responded at the time. It was only a month ago that she unexpectedly resigned and transferred all her shares to Gu Fei.
Gu Fei had thought Gu Lian had let go of her prejudice, but that wasn’t the case.
The tension between them remained unresolved.
Gu Fei’s newly secured project had pleased all the board members, and no one seemed to mind her late arrival.
“Secretary Chen mentioned that President Gu has been working overtime frequently this past month. So that’s how she quietly secured such a major collaboration.”
“No wonder President Gu looks a bit tired.”
“Even though President Gu is young, she should still take care of her health.”
The board members chattered on, and Gu Fei smiled faintly without saying a word.
Though Gu Lian’s expression remained as cold as ever, she did not refute the results of Gu Fei’s work.
Just as she was about to stand and announce Gu Fei’s appointment, Gu Fei raised her hand and pressed down on her forearm.
“Sis, I haven’t signed the equity transfer agreement yet. If you…”
Before she could finish, Gu Lian brushed her hand away, interrupting her.
Tossing the project file in front of her, Gu Lian spoke coolly, “If you don’t want it, why bother doing this?”
The project Gu Fei had facilitated, once implemented, could at least multiply the Gu Corporation’s profits tenfold over the next five years.
To be honest, although Gu Lian held some prejudice against Gu Fei in her heart, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of relief upon seeing the document.
Pressing her lips together, Gu Fei looked up at her. “I just wanted to prove my capability.”
No matter what position she held, Gu Fei always took her work seriously—this was her consistent principle.
After staring at her for a long moment, Gu Lian lowered her gaze and gave a faint smile. “Since the equity has been given to you, I won’t go back on my word. This is what I owe you.”
Her last words were almost inaudible, and Gu Fei didn’t catch them clearly.
Amidst the applause of the board members, Gu Fei assumed the role of the new chairman of the Gu Corporation.
After the meeting, Gu Fei returned to her office. Qin Qingwei was still asleep, so Gu Fei tidied her clothes and placed them by the bedside before hurrying off again.
Her schedule for the day was packed. The new project involved deep collaboration with government departments, and Gu Fei had to accompany several political figures to discuss the specifics of the cooperation. Naturally, a business lunch was unavoidable.
After lunch, she accompanied overseas business partners on a tour of the Gu Corporation’s technology park and laboratory. By the time she finished, it was already evening.
Back in the office, Qin Qingwei had woken up.
When Gu Fei pushed the door open, Qin Qingwei was standing sideways in front of the wardrobe changing her clothes. The red marks on her chest flashed briefly before being covered by a white bra.
Gu Fei’s ears warmed as she turned to close the door.
“I brought some food from the restaurant. There’s still some time before your awards ceremony tonight. Let’s eat before you go.”
As she spoke, she walked forward gently and naturally helped Qin Qingwei free a few strands of hair that were caught under her bra strap.
“Mm, Xiao Fei.” Qin Qingwei nodded in response. After fastening her bra, she paused slightly, a faint smile playing on her lips. “The bra size isn’t quite right.”
She didn’t turn around as she said this, only meeting Gu Fei’s gaze in the dressing mirror behind her.
Blinking under Qin Qingwei’s cool yet gentle gaze, Gu Fei’s face flushed instantly.
She had prepared her own clothes for Qin Qingwei, forgetting for a moment that their sizes were different.
” I’ll go buy one now.”
Her eyes darted nervously in the mirror before Gu Fei, blushing, turned to leave.
“No need. Just make sure to keep some clothes for me here next time.”
Qin Qingwei turned and caught her fingertips. The slightly tight bra hugged her skin, revealing a soft, graceful silhouette fully visible to Gu Fei.
Swallowing lightly, Gu Fei’s eyelashes fluttered a few times before she half-regained her composure and nodded. “…Alright, I’ll prepare some.”
As she spoke, Qin Qingwei had already picked up a nearby shirt and put it on.
Her fair skin was pressed and shifted subtly with her movements as she dressed, appearing and disappearing from view.
Gu Fei’s blush deepened.
“Maybe you should change into something else. I’ll go buy one now and be right back.”
Noticing the inexplicable urgency in Gu Fei’s steps as she turned, Qin Qingwei’s eyes held a trace of imperceptible amusement.
Lifting her arm gently, she wrapped them around Gu Fei’s waist from behind, leaning softly against her.
“Really, it’s not necessary. I’ll change when I go to the studio later.”
“Alright.”
The soft sensation against her back once again unsettled Gu Fei’s mind, making her agree to whatever Qin Qingwei said.
Her gaze fell on the fair hand resting on her abdomen, and Gu Fei instinctively reached out to cover it, their fingers intertwining.
“After the event tonight, I’ll pick you up.”
Although they were already married, out of respect for Qin Qingwei’s career, Gu Fei had agreed to keep their relationship private for the time being.
Qin Qingwei had no family, and Gu Fei only had her older sister, Gu Lian, who had never shown interest in her personal life. Thus, even after a month of marriage, very few people knew about it.
“Okay, I’ll wait for you.”
Qin Qingwei smiled, pressing a light kiss to the side of Gu Fei’s neck, but paused when she caught an unfamiliar scent.
“Qingwei.”
Gu Fei, already flustered, blushed but met Qin Qingwei’s deep, unreadable gaze as she turned.
“Did you change your perfume?”
“No.”
Gu Fei instinctively denied it, following Qin Qingwei’s gaze to sniff lightly at her collar.
A faint, unfamiliar hint of mint.
Pausing for a moment, Gu Fei frowned in thought.
“It’s probably cigarette smoke. Someone was smoking while I was with a client this afternoon.”
“Is the smell strong?”
Meeting Qin Qingwei’s serious, cool gaze, Gu Fei pursed her lips, her expression growing complicated as she looked down at her clothes.
“I’ll go take a shower and change.”
She turned toward the bathroom, telling Qin Qingwei to go ahead and have dinner without waiting for her.
Behind her, Qin Qingwei stood quietly in place until the sound of running water came from the bathroom. Then, with a cool expression, she undid the half-buttoned shirt she was wearing and went to the dressing room to change into a new one.
By the time Gu Fei emerged from the bathroom, fresh and damp, Qin Qingwei was still waiting for her in the lounge.
Dressed in a white V-neck short-sleeved knit top and matching casual pants, Gu Fei walked over relaxed, wrapping her arms around Qin Qingwei’s waist and pressing close.
“Does it still smell?”
“No.”
Obligingly leaning in to sniff her neck, Qin Qingwei shook her head with a faint smile, then took a black velvet box from her handbag.
“I have a gift for you.”
Gu Fei’s eyes followed her movements, her cheeks flushing at the sight of the black handbag.
She wondered if Qin Qingwei was giving her a box of finger cots as a reminder to carry them with her in the future.
Fortunately, when the box opened, it revealed a pair of exquisitely crafted diamond rose earrings.
“Am I the only one who has these?”
Gu Fei’s gaze lingered on the earrings before she looked up at Qin Qingwei.
“I’m already wearing mine.”
With a slight curve of her lips, Qin Qingwei tucked the stray strands of hair behind her ear with her fingertips and tilted her cheek to show Gu Fei the matching accessory on her earlobe.
She knew Gu Fei was someone who valued a sense of ceremony deeply—anything related to the two of them had to come in pairs.
Just like the bracelets they wore on their wrists, which Gu Fei had custom-made specifically for her confession.
Beyond that, there were their engagement rings and wedding bands, each uniquely designed by professional designers Gu Fei had sought out.
If not for certain concerns, Qin Qingwei would never have worn just the bracelet alone like this.
There was one thing Gu Fei had guessed wrong, though: Qin Qingwei’s choice to keep their marriage a secret wasn’t because of work.
The two had dinner together in the office. When Qin Qingwei was about to leave, Gu Fei accompanied her downstairs, only to run into Gu Lian heading their way right outside the office door.
Gu Fei’s steps paused instinctively. She glanced sideways at Qin Qingwei, who had already put on her hat and mask, before speaking up first.
“Sis, do you need something?”
The top floor was Gu Fei’s private office, and Gu Lian had rarely visited since a month ago.
Gu Fei guessed she probably had some work-related matter to discuss.
Gu Lian’s gaze lingered on their intertwined hands, her eyes narrowing slightly.
“Your girlfriend?”
Gu Fei nodded, admitting it openly.
After a glance at the matching bracelets on their wrists, Gu Lian lowered her eyes, hiding her thoughtful expression, and swallowed the reason she had come to find Gu Fei.
Without another word, she turned and left again.
In the elevator, Qin Qingwei recalled Gu Lian’s reaction and instinctively tightened her grip on Gu Fei’s fingers.
“President Gu seemed quite surprised that you’re in a relationship.”
“Probably because in her eyes, I’m still an immature kid.”
Gu Fei chuckled casually as she led her toward the underground garage.
“I bet she doesn’t even know how old I am this year.”
Hearing the hint of melancholy in her words, Qin Qingwei glanced at her, pressing her lips together softly.
The car had already been started by the driver, its bright headlights glaring in the dimly lit garage.
Gu Fei helped Qin Qingwei into the car and was about to close the door when Qin Qingwei pulled her into another hug.
“Xiao Fei.”
“Hmm?”
Under the curious gazes of the two assistants in the back seat, Gu Fei’s cheeks flushed slightly, her eyelashes fluttering.
“Actually…”
Qin Qingwei’s lips parted, but the words, “Gu Lian isn’t worth your concern,” still didn’t make it out.
For Gu Fei, forgetting some things was for the best.
After a moment of silence, Qin Qingwei tilted her head slightly, her warm, gentle breath brushing against Gu Fei’s ear.
“Actually, this underwear isn’t too tight after all.”
With that, she slowly closed the car door under Gu Fei’s stunned and bashful gaze.
The black car gradually drove away, leaving Gu Fei alone, blushing furiously.
Inside the car, Qin Qingwei watched Gu Fei’s receding figure in the rearview mirror and silently curved her lips.
