Mistakenly Marking My Alpha Rival - Chapter 6
Pearl Bay Park was independent of the racing circuit, a beautiful environment nestled at the foot of the mountains. On ordinary days, it was swarming with people coming to see the sea or take a stroll, making it one of Hong Kong’s most recommended dating spots.
Dai Siyun parked his car and sat in the driver’s seat, lifting his wrist to check his watch. He had arrived at the location Fu Chen agreed upon more than ten minutes early.
The familiar roar of an engine cut out.
Dai Siyun looked up through the windshield and saw the Alpha youth on a motorcycle. As he removed his helmet, his reddish-brown hair was particularly striking in the sunlight, and his face, both pure and bold, displayed a messy sort of aesthetic beauty.
Dai Siyun squinted unconsciously. Without turning off the ignition, he tapped his fingertips lightly against the rim of the steering wheel.
By the roadside at the park entrance, Fu Chen hadn’t turned off his engine either. Straddling the bike with his long, straight legs braced against the ground, he pulled out his phone, head down in total concentration as he tapped out a message.
Buzz—
At the same moment, Dai Siyun received a notification. He grabbed his phone from the center console and swiped it open. It was the “Merch Shop Assistant” saying he had arrived at Pearl Bay Park.
D: [I’m here too.]
Fu Chen looked up, searching left and right, but since he couldn’t spot anyone, he continued to ask for a specific location.
Merch Shop Assistant: [Want to share locations?]
D: [I see you.]
D: [I’m coming to find you.]
Merch Shop Assistant: [Okay, I’ll park first.]
Fu Chen drove toward the parking lot, found a spot for motorcycles, and hopped off. With his helmet tucked under his arm, he felt a bit unaccustomed to this kind of treatment.
He couldn’t help but recall that on past dates, he was always the one who arrived early. Those Omegas would show up on time, but no one had ever waited for him in advance.
Fu Chen inevitably drifted into thought, a layer of soft light rising in his eyes. While he was still looking down and tidying his things, a deep, magnetic teenage voice came from behind, causing his reaction to lag.
“Your bike is cool.”
Fu Chen turned around and bumped into the Alpha youth’s handsome face. Dressed in a plaid shirt and jeans, he seemed to have dropped out of the sky, looking like a completely different layer of reality compared to the people passing by.
He was indeed handsome enough to leave one speechless. Fu Chen thought he was hiding it well, but in reality, his reaction was quite exaggerated.
Dai Siyun was already used to his delayed responses. Without thinking much of it, he teased him on purpose, “You don’t seem to be wearing headphones.”
Otherwise, how could you not hear my voice?
Fu Chen: “…”
His reaction was indeed abnormal. He averted his gaze, not forgetting to return the compliment: “You’re very handsome too.”
Dai Siyun: “?”
The young rich master thought this was just some tit-for-tat, perfunctory social script.
But that wasn’t the point. The point was two Alphas over 180cm standing under the sun in a crowded seaside park, entering a mutual praise mode—
And they still had a two-hour dating process to get through.
Fu Chen locked his bike and walked over. He wondered if he should offer a polite professional fake smile, but then he felt that in front of this guy, pretense was a pointless move.
“Let’s go in first.”
Fu Chen looked down and fiddled with his phone. “Two hours is quite long. If we’re just chatting, should I have my colleague from the shop send over two drinks?”
“No need for the trouble,” Dai Siyun said.
“Alright.”
Fu Chen wanted to say that this was part of the event reward, but the guy in front of him didn’t seem interested, so he moved to the main topic. “I’ll need to take a few photos later, do you mind?”
Dai Siyun paused. “What kind?”
A subtle atmosphere flowed through the air. Fu Chen licked his lips and explained, “The event feedback photos need to be posted on the account. A group photo isn’t mandatory, we can just take photos of me, but I’ll need your help to snap them.”
Dai Siyun: “That’s fine.”
“A group photo is okay too.”
Perhaps not expecting the other party to agree, Fu Chen tilted his head and caught sight of the mole on the bridge of his nose. He felt an extreme gentleness beneath that cold exterior. He wasn’t sure if it was a delusion born from his expectations after seeing the doctor.
Half an hour ago.
Fu Chen had rushed over from the hospital after finishing his consultation. Based on the doctor’s suggestion, he decided to meet the Alpha youth again and ask some questions.
However, his motives weren’t entirely pure, and informing someone of his condition was quite difficult to say out loud. Fu Chen decided to wait and see, rather than revealing everything the moment they met.
From the park entrance, they followed a winding path past lawns where tourists had spread out picnic blankets. Ahead was a long seaside promenade where seagulls perched on the railings, looking out.
Two Alpha heartthrobs with exceptional looks and height walking through a crowd were bound to attract attention.
In the past, Fu Chen often experienced burning gazes. They say being handsome and knowing it is an instinct, but he had never experienced such blatant, unfiltered stares falling on him so frequently.
He knew the reason. The Alpha youth beside him had an almost unfairly handsome face. At the same time, for some reason, an unprecedented sense of confusion began to ferment in his heart. He wasn’t sure if he looked… passable in the other’s eyes.
When this thought popped up, Fu Chen’s reaction stalled. He didn’t understand why he should care about how he looked to another Alpha.
Pulling his thoughts back, Fu Chen noticed a kiosk in the park, a self-service machine that provided free picnic mats with a recycling function. He took the initiative to speak: “Should we spread a mat and sit for a bit?”
“Sure,” Dai Siyun said casually. “And I can take your photos then?”
Fu Chen curled his fingertips. “Okay.”
Words coming from the Alpha’s mouth felt like things had been turned upside down. In the past, those were the lines used by Omegas who actively approached him.
The so-called “trial dating” process was nothing more than an Omega asking Fu Chen out, the former helping with photos, and the latter treating them to a simple lunch. The next day, the photos would appear in a post on the operational account.
And then—
The Omegas would complain to him: “Chen-ge, you only agreed to try it with me because you needed someone to take your pictures, right?”
Fu Chen: “…”
They found out.
Thinking of this, his mind felt like it was filled with countless wild meteors, and he had no idea where they were headed. He couldn’t even grab hold of them, resulting in his actions being a beat slow. He leaned down to grab the mat but couldn’t seem to get the machine to release it.
Dai Siyun watched the whole time without saying anything. He pressed the button himself, and the disposable bag containing the item popped out. He took out the folded picnic mat and walked toward an empty spot on the lawn, his actions implying, you seem very distracted.
Fu Chen was practically mortified and walked over quickly. “By the way, how should I address you?”
Dai Siyun wasn’t a picky rich kid. He tore open the packaging and spread out the mat. The waterproof material wasn’t soft, feeling as rough as a plastic snakeskin bag, but his movements were efficient.
After working with Fu Chen to spread the mat and flattening the four corners, he finally spoke his name after finishing the task.
“Dai Siyun.”
Fu Chen could tell from the details that this was clearly a young master from a wealthy family, yet he didn’t feel a sense of distance from him, so he wasn’t as stiff. “I’m a sophomore at Inrey.”
Dai Siyun looked over and saw the Alpha youth already exhausted, lying down lazily as if he had no bones, watching him with clear, clean eyes. “Do you go to Inrey too?”
“No,” Dai Siyun added, “but I’m transferring there when school starts.”
Fu Chen was a little surprised. “I see…”
“Then your friend is from Inrey?”
Dai Siyun: “Yeah.”
Fu Chen sat back up, cross-legged, and smoothed his fringe. “No wonder I thought he looked familiar.”
Dai Siyun waited for the rest. Sure enough, he heard Fu Chen ask, “Is he a senior?”
“Yeah,” Dai Siyun sold out his best friend directly. “His name is Xing Xun.”
Fu Chen was startled. “I think I’ve heard that name before.”
A young master from an extremely wealthy family, much like Zhu Yingting. Fu Chen didn’t even need to ask to know the person beside him didn’t come from an ordinary background either.
So—
Fu Chen changed his way of asking. “If I may ask…”
He hadn’t finished.
From the boardwalk in the distance, the sound of a guitar and singing drifted over. It was “Pureyes,” a song Dai Siyun had heard in a random noodle shop when he went to Hokkaido alone for Christmas last year. A gentle female voice sang the lyrics, “Wanting to be closer, wanting to feel more of you.”
As the singing merged with the salty, cool sea breeze, Dai Siyun forgot to respond. To his surprise, Fu Chen also looked toward the distance. The sea breeze blew back his fringe as he said the full title of the song: “It’s a song I really like.”
Dai Siyun was quite surprised. Next, Fu Chen smiled at him, revealing his canine teeth. “What grade of Alpha are you?”
This question was a bit specific, but Dai Siyun only paused for half a second before answering truthfully, “S-grade.”
Fu Chen responded in a muffled voice, “As expected.”
He was an A-grade. Logically, it wasn’t bad, but he suddenly felt a bit despondent.
At that moment, Fu Chen pulled out his phone and asked if he could help take photos now. Out of the corner of his eye, Dai Siyun accidentally saw a chat interface labeled “Doctor,” but it was quickly swiped away and replaced by the camera.
Fu Chen handed over the phone. “I bought this a long time ago, it lags a bit when I use it.”
Dai Siyun: “Use mine?”
Fu Chen wouldn’t dream of it. But when the phone with the cracked screen was held in the youth’s palm, those hands were broad with distinct knuckles, looking elegant under the sunlight, the pairing with the broken phone was truly jarring.
Dai Siyun didn’t think much of it, simply feeling that breaking things while riding a motorcycle was common. As for the old model and the lag, as long as it didn’t affect taking photos, the Alpha focused on the task didn’t care.
If there was anything he did care about, it was that Dai Siyun didn’t often take photos for people and said he might not know the techniques.
The last time he took photos was of the snow in Hokkaido. A passerby had asked for help with a group photo. He hadn’t been satisfied with his work, but the couple kept thanking him. Their “it looks great” was clearly against their conscience.
Later.
Dai Siyun saw that couple sharing travel stories on Little Red Book, saying they had met a top-tier Alpha heartthrob, but his photography skills were truly “poisonous.”
This had left Dai Siyun feeling quite hopeless about his photography skills.
But this time was different. The intention was to provide photos for the merch shop, and Fu Chen told him to just snap whatever, but even with casual tries, the process went extremely smoothly.
Click—
Fu Chen tilted his face, his arm propping him up on the picnic mat. After Dai Siyun took a few consecutive shots, he leaned over, took a look, and expressed total satisfaction: “You take great photos.”
Dai Siyun: “…”
It was mainly because Fu Chen’s face was beyond reproach, with no bad angles from any direction, like those little celebrities on TV who lived off their looks. But such a compliment felt frivolous and shouldn’t come from his mouth.
He was just about to hand the phone back.
Suddenly, a message notification popped up at the top of the screen, showing an extremely eyesore-inducing name—it was “Zhu Yingting” again.
At the same time, the color in Dai Siyun’s eyes began to freeze on his sharp-featured face. Fu Chen, however, didn’t notice the change in the person before him and naturally became a “love brain” in Xing Xun’s words—at least, that was what Dai Siyun thought at the time.
Fu Chen: “Hold on, a friend needs me for something, I’ll reply to a message first.”
He spoke in what sounded like an extremely relaxed tone.
Seeing him turn his body away as if guarding private information, Dai Siyun couldn’t say he wasn’t frustrated. His gaze fell on the Alpha youth’s exposed nape, fair and delicate. It was hard to imagine this was a racer who could drive a motorcycle at 300km/h.
Clearly…
He was a guy who could live off his face.
He didn’t know why he was frustrated. He thought Fu Chen would chat with Zhu Yingting for a long time, but only a few seconds passed before the merch shop clerk was back online, smiling at him.
Fu Chen: “I’ve replied to the message.”
Dai Siyun: “Your boyfriend?”
The seawater near the shore slapped against the rocks repeatedly. Fu Chen’s thoughts returned, and he explained slowly, “No.”
Dai Siyun: “Then you’re still in the ‘ambiguous’ stage.”
Fu Chen glanced sideways and suddenly caught his breath. The intense pressure coming from the Alpha youth’s mood seemed to have turned quite foul, and the picnic mat was inexplicably wrinkled by his tightening fingers.
A bit strange…
Fu Chen took a deep breath, his head feeling like a container full of paste. An old, rusty machine would be better than this.
“It’s not exactly an ambiguous stage either.”
Fu Chen hadn’t forgotten the purpose of meeting up early. In fact, at this moment, he was even more desperate for that answer. “Aren’t you going to ask why I asked to meet you early?”
Dai Siyun’s expression became exceptionally cold. “Not interested.”
Fu Chen felt a sudden urge to please him. “Ge.”
“I have something I want to ask you…”
“Do you remember the day we first met?”
Perhaps because it was hard to say, he had to get closer to Dai Siyun, and his voice dropped even lower. Dai Siyun looked down at him with a gaze that seemed indifferent.
“That day, you were walking in front of me.”
Fu Chen’s chin was almost resting on the youth’s broad shoulder. His lips moved slightly, exhaling warm breath: “Did you… release any pheromones?”
BOOM—
A massive wave crashed against the shore, rolling and surging, splashing countless blossoms of water and filling the air with the scent of salty sea spray.
Dai Siyun was in disbelief. “What did you say?”
Fu Chen even wanted to repeat it. He was an A-grade Alpha, so asking this question to a fellow Alpha shouldn’t be too out of line.
But Dai Siyun’s reaction clearly suggested otherwise.
Fu Chen felt something was wrong. He looked up, meeting those jet-black eyes, and his heart sank instantly. He realized belatedly that if an Omega did this, it would be considered extremely dangerous behavior.
Sure enough.
Dai Siyun leaned in close to him, his tone unable to soften, like a dark cloud pressing down from the horizon: “Tell me.”
“Are you sexually harassing me?”
Fu Chen: “…”
How could it be sexual harassment? I’m an Alpha too.
