Mistaken ‘O’ is a Crazy Gorgeous Boss - Chapter 75
The atmosphere in the room instantly heated up.
Qu Zhen felt as if she had fallen into a bottle of rose soda, her heart racing like fizzy bubbles. The scent of roses filled her senses, and her mind seemed to bloom with roses one after another.
As the kitten before her grew visibly more nervous, Qu Zhen took her hand, her fingers brushing against the kitten’s wedding ring before interlacing their fingers tightly.
Without a second thought, Qu Zhen raised her hand to cover the chinchilla’s blue-green eyes and leaned in to kiss Shen Zhikou’s lips.
The kiss was as light as a dragonfly skimming the water.
When it ended, Qu Zhen smiled warmly, a faint dimple appearing on her right cheek. She lowered her hand and pulled both the kitten wearing the white fluffy cat ears and the chinchilla into her embrace.
“Was this the surprise you prepared, sis?” she asked, careful not to call the real kitten “kitten” to avoid making her jealous. “It’s so adorable.”
Qu Zhen probably couldn’t comprehend Shen Zhikou’s feelings at that moment.
Held in the warm embrace of the one she loved, Shen Zhikou heard that familiar term of endearment again, one she hadn’t heard since they parted. Her heart ached with a bittersweet sensation, as if a gentle warmth flowed through her. The love she had once kept hidden now surged like turbulent waves. She turned her head and kissed Qu Zhen’s dimple, her eyes shimmering with an unyielding tenderness.
“Yes, but it was also unexpected,” Shen Zhikou explained. “I found this kitten on the main road below the villa during the time we were apart. It was snowing heavily that day, and it had been abandoned in the grass. If I’d been any later, it might have gone to the cat planet.”
Just like how she herself had once been saved by the sixteen-year-old Qu Zhen.
The chinchilla was probably only about three months old, pure white all over, with soft, well-groomed fur. It was very affectionate, blinking its round, bright eyes as it watched them. It would nudge Shen Zhikou’s palm with its pink nose and rub its fluffy head against Qu Zhen, meowing in a sweet, cotton-candy-like voice, chirping incessantly in a soft, milky tone.
But as if sensing the closeness between the two, it soon hopped onto the quilt with a soft thud, wagged its tail, meowed a few times, then leaped off the edge of the bed and scurried out of the room, no longer playing the role of the glaring third wheel.
The automatic high-tech door slid shut.
Afraid that the kitten in her arms might also run off, Qu Zhen tightened her grip around Shen Zhikou’s waist, not allowing her to escape.
Rarely showing such assertiveness, Shen Zhikou called out softly, “Zhenzhen.”
“Hmm.”
“I thought… you wouldn’t come,” Shen Zhikou said. “Thank you, Zhenzhen.”
Qu Zhen played with her hand, her thumb repeatedly stroking Shen Zhikou’s ring finger, her gaze fixed on the wedding ring.
“Did you have so little faith in me, sis?”
“It’s not that I lacked faith. It’s just that I deceived you about too many things, and you once said you really hate being lied to.”
“I do hate it.”
Shen Zhikou’s breath hitched.
“But many of the kitten’s lies didn’t hurt the puppy and were meant to protect her all along. So, even though the puppy was a little hurt, she could never hate the kitten.” Qu Zhen smiled deliberately. “She’ll never hate the Cat Queen, only love her.”
Mentioning the title “Cat Queen” made Shen Zhikou unusually bashful. She hadn’t installed any surveillance on the lower level, so she had no idea what had happened during those two days.
But she really wanted to know, because time always flew by so quickly. She cherished every moment with Qu Zhen and didn’t want to miss even the smallest detail of their time together.
“When I was still… the Cat Queen, did I do anything excessive to you?”
“No.”
Shen Zhikou felt a little relieved.
“The Cat Queen is the cutest little cat. She’s very clingy and wouldn’t let me talk to anyone else. Even when I stepped outside to get a meal, she would sulk for a while and punish me out of jealousy.”
Shen Zhikou’s ears turned red. “How would she punish you?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, the world seemed to spin, and Shen Zhikou found herself pinned beneath Qu Zhen on the bed. Then, soft kisses rained down on her cheeks and neck. Only when her eyes were hazy with desire did Qu Zhen turn off the main light in the guest room, leaving only the bedside lamp on.
In the dim, shifting twilight, Qu Zhen held Shen Zhikou close, as if in a nesting period, facing her directly. Her thumb gently brushed over Shen Zhikou’s lips.
“Like this, pinning me down, biting my lips, and leaving marks on my neck.”
If she bit too hard, the Cat Queen would feel sorry.
If she bit too lightly, the Cat Queen wouldn’t feel satisfied.
So, it was only natural for her to cling to her puppy’s neck and shoulders, leaving one faint mark after another.
In the end, the Cat Queen would proudly announce how many marks she had left, declaring that Qu Zhen could never see anyone else again.
Shen Zhikou wasn’t surprised. She was indeed the type to do such things.
Unbuttoning the first button of Qu Zhen’s pajamas, Shen Zhikou spotted a faint mark on her collarbone. She reached out and touched it, her eyes shimmering with emotion.
“Zhenzhen, you can leave marks on me too,” she said without hesitation. “I like being close to you. You can do anything to me.”
“Can I play with the kitty’s tail too?”
Shen Zhikou was puzzled until her rear was gently squeezed, causing the bell anklet around her ankle to jingle from the movement. She nearly couldn’t hold back a sound.
“Alright, alright,” Qu Zhen held her tightly, kissing the top of her head. “I won’t play with the kitty’s tail anymore. I was just teasing you.”
Shen Zhikou remained silent for a long time, her ears hidden beneath her dark hair flushed bright red.
After a moment, she leaned close to Qu Zhen’s ear and whispered softly, “It’s okay. I like this too.”
“Don’t force yourself to do things you don’t like.”
The little cat was stubborn. “Anything related to you, I like.”
The tea-colored curtains veiled the night scenery outside, and the fragrance from the vase in the diagonal corner drifted faintly. As Qu Zhen gently stroked the little cat’s fur, she suddenly asked thoughtfully,
“So, were all those coincidences before not coincidences either?”
There had been too many deliberate coincidences, and Shen Zhikou wasn’t sure which one she meant. “Like what?”
“The license plate number was my birthday, and your food preferences and tastes were very similar to mine.”
“The license plate number was intentionally chosen to be your birthday, and the others were too. But the food preferences and tastes weren’t entirely coincidental. Because I never had any freedom before, I wasn’t picky about food at all, nor did I have any particular favorites. So, the things you liked naturally became my favorites after I learned about them.”
“But I want to raise my sister into a picky little cat.”
Shen Zhikou was taken aback. “What?”
“Food is part of desire. From now on, let’s try more things, okay? I’ll work hard to improve my cooking skills and make new dishes for you every day. You’ll eventually find what you truly like.” Qu Zhen kissed her. “Okay?”
“That will be very tiring. You have to work and study every day, and there are many chefs at the villa.”
“If it’s good for you, sister, I won’t find it tiring.”
Her little girl’s words were growing sweeter and sweeter. Shen Zhikou couldn’t refuse such a request, made entirely with her in mind.
“Alright. But if you have to work overtime, then forget it.”
“It’s a deal.”
“Mm.”
Qu Zhen moved closer, her fingers brushing over the cat ears on Shen Zhikou’s head. “Sister, are you still hiding other things from me?”
Shen Zhikou thought for a moment. “Just some trivial matters. Do you want to know?”
“Of course.”
Having transformed back from the Cat Queen into the cool and distant Shen Zhikou, as ethereal as the thin snow on spring mountains, she had shed some of her liveliness and innocence. Worried and nervous that her alpha might leave again, she carefully weighed every word in her heart before speaking.
“The fireworks display you saw on the beach the night of your birthday wasn’t a coincidence. I set it off for you.”
That dazzling, silver-and-gold fireworks display was so brilliant it outshone the starry night sky and captivated the entire city of Haicheng. At the time, countless people watched with envy, discussing and making wishes, while Qu Zhen, thinking it had nothing to do with her, simply stared blankly, waiting for it to end before quietly leaving.
“Do you remember what you said before? You said you wanted to go to Haicheng to see the most beautiful fireworks display, to pray at Hongming Temple, even to light sky lanterns, and to study at a school with the largest archaeological library. It seems you thought He Yu wasn’t listening to you back then, but in reality… she remembered every word clearly.”
Shen Zhikou’s voice was soft, much like her own presence, as if a sudden gust of wind could carry her away.
“Setting off a fireworks display whose meaning you didn’t understand, climbing the long steps to kneel and light three sky lanterns at Hongming Temple, renovating the school library for you, even building the archaeological library of your dreams at Green Desert Manor, these are all proof that He Yu was listening to you.”
“Zhenzhen,” she called her name, her eyes shimmering with fragments of light. “When we returned to Mingqiu County for the first time after getting married, and you said you thought He Yu found you annoying, I wanted to tell you all this back then. She never found you annoying. It’s just that she wasn’t very good with words back then and was heavily guarded, but she always had a fondness for you and was deeply grateful that you saved her and took such good care of her.”
“Sister.”
Qu Zhen didn’t know what to say. Her heart ached, but she was also deeply moved.
“I should have realized it sooner,” she said.
When she opened those document folders at the tea estate, Qu Zhen had already glimpsed some answers, but she never imagined there were so many deliberate coincidences and carefully orchestrated surprises.
“I understand now. Sister Xiao Yu never disliked me. I misunderstood. I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault,” Shen Zhikou kissed her. “I’ve never blamed you, Zhenzhen.”
She continued, “If you still want to know, I can tell you more.”
Qu Zhen nodded. “I really do.”
“Actually… every piece of good fortune you encountered during your four years of university was orchestrated by me. For example, when you dressed as a teddy bear to sell balloons and couldn’t complete the sales task to get the full payment, I paid three times the amount to those passersby, asking them to pretend they didn’t know and buy your balloons or offer you an umbrella.”
“Sometimes your sense of direction isn’t great. Once, when you took a detour after working late and didn’t realize you were being followed, I had my people drive them away and escorted you all the way back to school.”
“When you went to the mall with your roommate to enter a prize draw, I had the staff replace the ‘Thanks for Participating’ slips. No matter how many times you drew, you’d only get the grand prize, a luxury travel package.”
“The student ID card, ID, and other things you lost outside campus, I had the people protecting you return them. The gifts you received on holidays weren’t from secret admirers but from me, who yearned for you but couldn’t have you. Because I didn’t want you to struggle with exhausting work, all the high-paying part-time jobs you took later were arranged by me.”
“You…” she paused, “you thought it was Su Qi who found the kitten, but she lied. The calico cat was rescued by my people from an animal abuser because I didn’t want you to worry. It wasn’t her who found the kitten, it was me. I didn’t… lie to you.”
It was she who found the kitten.
It was she who cherished the girl.
But because she always stayed in the shadows, always yearning without fulfillment, someone else had taken advantage.
Her eyes grew sore: “I love you. I want to give you the best of everything in the world, even if you never know it’s from me. Half a year ago, I made my will, half of my estate will go to a charity foundation after my death, ensuring it runs for a century. I admit I have many flaws and am no saint, but I’m not as bad as others say. I want to help those children and women in hardship. The other half will be transferred to you, it’s enough for you to live a carefree life.”
By the end, her voice was hoarse, as if she were about to cry.
“But I’m also greedy. I want you to like me, to accept every part of me, to love me just the same.” She gripped her hand anxiously, her eyes reddening, “Zhenzhen, have you truly, completely forgiven me?”
