Mistaken ‘O’ is a Crazy Gorgeous Boss - Chapter 15
The small two-bedroom, one-living-room layout had limited space, with the sofa and coffee table placed quite close together. Qu Zhen’s gaze lingered on the nine frosted blue roses, her long, straight legs tensing slightly.
It was the first time she had been so bold, and after asking the question, she grew incredibly nervous, her ears turning completely red.
Her intertwined fingers slowly loosened, and a faint, ambiguous smile flickered in Shen Zhikou’s eyes, her voice laced with deliberate curiosity.
“Why would you suggest that?”
She enjoyed watching the young alpha blush because of her, and she especially liked seeing her ears droop, pretending to be calm and composed while clearly feeling extremely shy.
Desire sprouted in the ambiguity, spreading recklessly. Her gaze clung to the alpha’s face like a serpent’s tongue, her expression as cool as frost, yet her eyes burned like flames.
Yet, Qu Zhen, completely clueless about matters of the heart, remained oblivious. She was busy reflecting on whether her suggestion had been too forward, especially since they were still in the developmental stage of their relationship.
Thinking this, Qu Zhen explained softly, “Sister, I’ve been studying AO comforting behaviors very seriously these past two days.”
“I think I’ve made some progress,” she said, averting her gaze before meeting Shen Zhikou’s eyes again. “But whether online or in books, there’s very little supplementary information about pre-comforting for AOs, and most of it doesn’t quite fit our situation. So, I… I consulted an alpha friend of mine about this issue. She told me that doing what I just suggested would be very effective and could help an alpha and Omega enter a comforting state more quickly.”
She looked at Shen Zhikou and added, her eyes as clear as a newborn fawn’s, “That little girl’s differentiation made you uncomfortable, and not only did I fail to notice and ask about it in time, but I also misunderstood you. I feel very guilty and irresponsible. I just want you to feel better as soon as possible, which is why I suggested that method.”
The frosted blue roses, gradually tinged with a pale blue hue, emitted a subtle fragrance, their beauty slowly fading.
The person beside her remained silent, and Qu Zhen didn’t rush for an answer, patiently waiting instead. She was half a head taller than Shen Zhikou, and from her vantage point, she could catch a glimpse of the hint of spring revealed by the unbuttoned shirt.
An inadvertent glance made Qu Zhen quickly look away.
“Is that friend of yours reliable?”
Shen Zhikou picked up the silver-rimmed glasses from the table and put them on. Standing up, she looked down at the alpha, her demeanor and actions a blend of aloofness and restraint.
As her hair brushed against her fair cheeks, she added, “I’ve never heard of such a method before.”
In Qu Zhen’s eyes, most people in the world were good, especially Z, who had not only helped her in games but also generously shared her experiences and methods.
“Yes, she’s a very good person,” Qu Zhen added. “She even sent me a lot of other learning materials, which are more effective than the ones circulating online.”
“What other kinds of materials?”
Qu Zhen had dug herself into another hole. “It’s… it’s about,” she stammered, her voice growing softer with embarrassment, “comforting and… intimate interactions between partners.”
“Have you mastered those as well?”
Qu Zhen shook her head. “Still working on it.”
The prolonged silence and the shift in topic made the well-behaved puppy, wagging its tail, think her suggestion had been rejected. Just as she secretly clenched her fists, determined to search online for other effective methods and speed up her learning.
Suddenly, a soft sensation and a light weight came from her leg, and slender fingers, cool as jade, brushed against her neck, sending a tingling, numbing itch through her. The air was filled with the faint fragrance of lily of the valley.
Qu Zhen turned her face in a daze, and their gazes collided.
“Is this how it is?”
Yet Qu Zhen felt as if the world had turned upside down. The shyness and surprise from the role reversal were no less intense than before. Though she remained motionless on the surface, she was screaming internally.
!!!!!
Sister agreed! (〃>v<)
Sister took the initiative to sit on her lap! ∑(!〇▽〇)
Sister, sister smells so good! O///O
Even though she was the one who had made the suggestion, she was now the one rendered speechless and passive. Her mind went blank, as if she were floating among the clouds. It took Qu Zhen half a minute to regain her senses.
Her voice wavered between high and low: “Sister, I’m not sure… if this is exactly how it’s supposed to be, but it should be roughly correct.”
Z had never specified the exact details, leaving Qu Zhen plenty of room for imagination. With a fragrant, soft beauty in her arms, she stiffened like a wooden puppet, not daring to make a sound.
Just as she was contemplating whether to hold Shen Zhikou’s other hand, Shen Zhikou abruptly rose from her lap and leisurely adjusted her silver-rimmed glasses.
“I’m hungry. Let’s eat first.”
It was like throwing a ball into the distance, waiting for the dog to fetch it, patting the dog’s head, and then putting the ball away just enough to leave the dog eagerly anticipating the next playtime.
Qu Zhen blinked slowly: “O-okay.”
Dinner was quiet, with neither of them speaking. It wasn’t until Qu Zhen was serving Shen Zhikou mushroom soup that she suddenly asked, “Sister, was that bouquet of flowers for me?”
She suddenly remembered that irises symbolize a bright future and boundless prospects.
“Yes,” Shen Zhikou replied. “Congratulations on your successful interview. Wishing you a smooth onboarding and a promising future.”
Qu Zhen felt apologetic for her earlier suspicions. She filled Shen Zhikou’s bowl to the brim with soup, her almond-shaped eyes crinkling at the corners as she smiled brightly. “Thank you, sister.”
“You’re welcome.”
She only remembered this meaning of irises, unaware that they also symbolize enduring longing, hope, and desperate love.
After finishing dinner and cleaning up, Qu Zhen arranged the purple irises and the shattered ice-blue roses in a diamond-shaped vase. She even excitedly took a photo and sent it to her family group chat.
The door to the master bedroom was tightly shut, so Qu Zhen didn’t disturb her. After washing up, she returned to the guest room to rest and booked a high-speed train ticket home for the next afternoon on her phone.
After studying diligently for an hour, a drowsy Qu Zhen tossed and turned while clutching the corner of her blanket. In the end, she didn’t delete the compressed file but simply locked it and moved it to her private space.
…
The next day, Qu Zhen had an early class and got up as soon as the alarm rang.
When she saw Shen Zhikou outside her room, her eyes lit up, and her invisible fluffy ears seemed to perk up along with them.
“Good morning, sister.”
“Good morning.”
Shen Zhikou was wearing a black trench coat, paired with a simple white shirt and brown trousers, looking elegant, poised, and efficient.
She glanced at her wristwatch. “Breakfast is ready. Make sure to eat something to fill your stomach later. I need to get to the airport by 8:20, so I might not have time to see you off.”
Haicheng International Airport was in the opposite direction of the university district. Qu Zhen nodded. “It’s fine, no need to trouble yourself, sister. I can take the subway by myself.”
“Mhm. Be safe on the road.”
Qu Zhen gazed at her: “I will, and you too, sis. Even when you’re on a business trip, make sure to eat well and rest on time.” Remembering the tips from “The Laws of Love and the Treasures of Marriage,” she added, “I’ll message you every day.”
“Mhm, then I’m off.”
“See you next week.”
“See you next week.”~
The day before, thinking about the impending separation, Qu Zhen believed it might actually be a good thing for them. They needed time to sort out their feelings for each other once the effects of the temporary mark faded, and then make that crucial decision.
But when the moment of parting truly arrived, Qu Zhen found herself not as composed as she had imagined, especially when she saw Shen Zhikou about to leave with her suitcase.
She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but ended up just awkwardly calling out.
“Sis.”
Shen Zhikou paused and turned her head: “What’s wrong?”
“N-nothing.” The silly puppy walked over to her, clumsily raising a paw to wave. “Sis, goodbye.”
The soft, bright light in the entryway cast a golden glow over both of them. Shen Zhikou turned and took Qu Zhen’s hand, calling her intimately for the second time.
“Zhenzhen.”
“Hmm?”
“Lower your head.”
Her fingertips brushed Qu Zhen’s right cheek as Shen Zhikou kissed the dimple on her left cheek, light as a dragonfly skimming water. “This is an effective pre-departure calming behavior.”
“Study hard. I’ll check on you when I return next week.”
