Mistaken ‘O’ is a Crazy Gorgeous Boss - Chapter 13
The next morning, Qu Zhen still woke up very early, even earlier than usual.
For breakfast, she prepared cranberry croissant buns, pumpkin pancakes, and peanut walnut milk, mostly instant foods bought during yesterday’s shopping trip, requiring only simple reheating.
When Shen Zhikou emerged from the master bedroom and saw the breakfast laid out, a flicker of surprise crossed her eyes.
“You’re up so early today. Are you heading to school to study?”
At these words, Qu Zhen’s face flushed slightly, her mind once again drifting back to the explicit, boundary-pushing descriptions from the night before.
After decompressing Z’s compressed file, she had initially just glanced at it shyly before retreating under the covers. Yet, those titles lingered in her mind, refusing to fade no matter how much she tossed and turned, nearly suffocating herself under the blankets.
After finally pushing the covers aside and poking her head out, she spent a long time reflecting on her actions. She scolded herself, yet also consoled herself, thinking that Z was just trying to be helpful and besides, it might actually prove useful.
In the end, she tentatively opened the first file.
-366 Intimate Techniques: Loving Your Partner Like Tending to Flowers.
The “flowers” she had imagined were like the various blooms in her family’s flower shop, metaphorically suggesting that every partner is a unique flower requiring careful nurturing. But these “flowers” were not what she had in mind, the techniques in the file were truly… adventurous.
Though they were neither videos nor images, the mere textual descriptions were enough to make Qu Zhen’s face as red as the most vibrant crimson blossom on a branch.
Qu Zhen couldn’t even bring herself to look directly at Shen Zhikou.
She said, “Yes, and I also have some books I often read in the dorm. I want to bring them back.”
Shen Zhikou glanced at her, her gaze pausing briefly on Qu Zhen’s flushed earlobes, feigning ignorance. “Alright, then I’ll drop you off on my way.”
“Okay, have your breakfast, sister. I’ll go to the restroom first.”
“Mm.”
Rushing into the bathroom, Qu Zhen splashed her face with cold water once more before looking up at her reflection in the mirror.
The alpha staring back had delicate features, her eyes tinged with an unreadable depth, like ink that refused to dissolve.
Qu Zhen grabbed a tissue to wipe away the water droplets, silently resolving that, although Z meant well, she would delete that compressed file later. Otherwise, she truly wouldn’t be able to face Shen Zhikou without blushing or her heart racing.
Compared to Shen Zhikou, who seemed as detached from worldly desires as an immortal descended to earth, Qu Zhen felt more like a primitive creature gradually succumbing to her instincts.
…
After breakfast, the two set off for their destination.
Along the way, Qu Zhen had already calmed down. Clutching her canvas tote, her face free of makeup, her attire and demeanor were entirely that of a student, nothing like someone about to step into society as an intern.
When the car arrived at the university’s south gate, Qu Zhen leaned down to unbuckle her seatbelt. She had initially planned to say goodbye and get out, but thinking of Shen Zhikou’s condition and the temporary mark, she still reached out to the person beside her.
“Sister, can we hold hands before we part?”
Shen Zhikou’s jade-like fingers rested on the black steering wheel, the stark contrast striking. She turned to look at Qu Zhen, her gaze meaningful.
“Alright.”
Their hands intertwined. In comparison, Qu Zhen’s hand was warmer, while Shen Zhikou’s felt as cool and smooth as mutton-fat jade.
“Sister, if we get married in the future, do you have any specific wishes for the wedding?”
Qu Zhen had thought far ahead. Once she returned home this week, she would confess everything between them to her mother, and then await Shen Zhikou’s decision. If everything went smoothly, a wedding would undoubtedly be essential.
Even though their encounter had been an accident, she still wanted to give Shen Zhikou a wedding that would make her happy and bring her joy.
The person beside her fell silent for a moment. “It wouldn’t be too late to hold the wedding after spring arrives. My work schedule from now until the end of the year is quite complicated and highly unpredictable. My idea is to register the marriage first and hold the wedding after spring, or you could wait until after graduation if you prefer.”
Qu Zhen shook her head. “It’s fine, I understand. I’ll listen to you, sis. Let’s register first and discuss the wedding after the new year. Is that okay?”
“Mm. If you have any thoughts, feel free to tell me anytime.”
“Okay.”
“I’ll pick you up after work.”
“Mm-hmm.”
Five minutes later, Qu Zhen, who had been keeping track of the time, released Shen Zhikou’s hand, said goodbye, and got out of the car. Only after the black vehicle had completely disappeared from view did she enter the campus.
Back in the dorm, all three of her roommates were out. Qu Zhen packed the things she needed to take with her, then opened her laptop and continued refining the already drafted prenuptial agreement.
Time slipped away quietly amid the soft tapping of the keyboard.
After having lunch in the cafeteria, Qu Zhen planned to take a short nap in the dorm. When she woke up in the afternoon, Yang Shumeng and Zhou Yun had both returned.
At the same time, Qu Zhen received three interview results in her email. Apart from the SCV result, which was somewhat unexpected, the others were within her expectations.
“How did it go, Zhenzhen?” Yang Shumeng asked with concern.
Qu Zhen waved her phone. “I passed all of them!”
“That’s amazing! I knew our Zhenzhen was the best!” Yang Shumeng happily shared some snacks with her, muttering, “Now it’s settled. Our dorm has everything sorted, so we can just laze around a bit longer.”
Zhou Yun added, “Congratulations. But which company are you planning to join?”
Qu Zhen didn’t hesitate. “Shengcan Venture Capital.”
“Not bad, not bad. In my opinion, that company has the best growth prospects.”
Zhou Yun nodded. “I think so too. I heard Shengcan Venture Capital recently increased their benefits and compensation.”
Qu Zhen, who had just received the news, smiled. “Yes, their housing subsidy for interns increased from 1,500 to 3,000, and many other aspects improved as well.”
“Wow, how amazing must the big boss of Shengcan Venture Capital be?” Yang Shumeng stuffed a cream puff into her mouth. “The law firm I signed with hasn’t given any hints about raises, and even if they did, it wouldn’t be that much.”
“Isn’t the big boss of Shengcan Venture Capital the one Jiang Cheng mentioned? The current head of the Shen family. Qu Zhen wasn’t paying close attention, still immersed in the joy of admission and the increase in benefits.
Yang Shumeng put down the box of cream puffs and clapped. “What did I say? That person is definitely the protagonist of a satisfying story. Just look at this straightforward style, she’s clearly someone who gets things done. But thinking about it, based on how online novels develop, could she be doing this because she’s taken a liking to one of the interns?”
Yang Shumeng was deeply engrossed in online novels. “Zhenzhen, keep a close watch. Maybe that person is your colleague! When you find out, be sure to tell us first, okay?”
Qu Zhen thought this seemed a bit too far-fetched. Shengcan was such a massive corporation, with venture capital being just one of its subsidiaries. How could a CEO, who had countless matters to attend to every day, possibly have time to notice small fry like them?
However, since online novels often had wildly imaginative plots, she patiently replied to her roommate, “Alright, I’ll keep an eye out.”
…
In the afternoon, Qu Zhen went to the library to return some books and stayed for a while, waiting for Shen Zhikou.
The moment she took out her tablet, she wanted to delete that compressed file.
But with all the students around her quietly studying, she felt too embarrassed to open that page, so she suppressed the urge and decided to delete it after returning home.
At 6:20 p.m., she received a message from Shen Zhikou. She packed her things, left the library, and headed toward the South Gate.
Outside the gate, crowds of people were coming and going. She spotted Su Qi walking with a couple of friends and turned her head, intending to detour to the right. As they passed by, she heard them let out a soft, mocking laugh.
Su Qi paused for a moment, as if wanting to say something to her.
Without any hesitation or delay, Qu Zhen brushed past them and took the path leading up to the intersection. Only when she reached the end of the road and saw the familiar black car did a faint smile appear in her eyes.
However, the moment she opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat, Qu Zhen who had evolved into an S-class Alpha and was particularly sensitive to the scents of other Alphas, detected the lingering pheromones of another Alpha on Shen Zhikou.
During the temporary marking period, Qu Zhen, who felt an intense possessiveness toward her Omega, paused briefly and blinked in confusion.
In response, Shen Zhikou, also an S-class Omega, caught the scent of another Omega’s pheromones on the young Alpha as she drew closer.
It was the white peach fragrance belonging to Qu Zhen’s ex-girlfriend, Su Qi.
