Marry First, Love Later With The White Cat Princess - Chapter 26
After checking the pulse, Liu Fenyun recalled the prescription her master had sent perfectly suited to treat Luo Binglun’s condition, without needing any modification. She was astonished. After explaining the situation to Luo Binglun, she immediately took up her brush and carefully copied the prescription from memory.
“This prescription is made into pills. Take one after meals, once a day,” Liu Fenyun instructed as she handed it to Luo Binglun.
Luo Binglun glanced at the prescription, then back at her, her eyes betraying an almost uncontrollable shock and excitement.
“Where is Yu Qingyue?!” Luo Binglun suddenly stood up, grabbing Liu Fenyun by the collar and towering over her. “Where have you hidden her?”
Liu Fenyun froze, noticing the unusual look in her eyes. Though nervous, she kept her composure and asked, “What do you mean, Sir?”
“Did you write this prescription yourself?” Luo Binglun asked in return.
Liu Fenyun, ever the drama queen, nodded calmly and sincerely. “But if there are ingredients you can’t take, please point them out so I can adjust it promptly.”
Her heart thumped loudly. If even seeing her master’s prescription could make the High Priestess lose control, what on earth had happened between these two?
Luo Binglun relaxed her grip and returned to her seat, seemingly distracted, gently holding the prescription while her tone softened: “I overreacted. Sorry.”
“No problem,” Liu Fenyun said as she stood and bowed. “If you have nothing else, I’ll take my leave. In seven days, I’ll prepare a new prescription for you.”
“No need. This medicine will suffice for a long time,” Luo Binglun shook her head and called for Yezhou and Lipei to escort Liu Fenyun out of the High Priestess Hall.
“The High Priestess usually reacts this way. Whenever she sees or hears anything related to that Tianzi doctor, she loses control,” Lipei explained on the way.
“Don’t speak too much,” Yezhou said, still stoic and indifferent.
“Yes,” Lipei responded with a smile.
Compared to Yezhou, Lipei was much more outgoing. Liu Fenyun had wanted to ask him a few questions, but Yezhou’s watchful gaze made her reluctant to trouble him. Perhaps her cat knew something about the past; she’d ask later.
Returning to the Saintess Hall, Liu Fenyun was surprised to find the doors tightly shut. She knocked repeatedly, but no one opened. She guessed Lianyi must have already learned she had treated the High Priestess.
Rubbing her hands, reddened from the cold, Liu Fenyun sighed and sat at the door.
Lianyi was surely angry. If she had known, she should have come back to consult her first.
She released some of her spiritual energy to fend off the cold and rested her chin in her hands, watching the snow fall.
In the north, snow either didn’t fall at all or fell endlessly, quickly piling up on the ground.
After a while, Liu Fenyun put down her medicine box and stepped onto the soft snow outside the steps. She scooped up a handful of clean snow, compressed it into a ball, then made two small pointed snowballs and placed them on top.
She didn’t know that Lianyi, upon hearing the cat attendants’ report, had gritted her teeth in anger, smashed a jade cup, spilled the pudding she had specially made for Liu Fenyun, and ordered the hall doors to be tightly closed to make her reflect.
Now, Lianyi leaned against the window, seeing Liu Fenyun playing in the snow, and grew furious. She leaped out the window, transforming into her beast form, and swooped down toward Liu Fenyun.
Her claws struck the snow, sending flakes flying, covering Liu Fenyun completely.
Liu Fenyun did not dodge, letting the snow fall on her head and body, focusing solely on sculpting the snowballs.
The white cat, unhappy, pawed at the snow and rubbed against her, letting out tiny kitten-like meows, trying to divert her attention.
Only then did Liu Fenyun turn, mimicking a hugging gesture.
When Lianyi approached, she buried her face in the fluffy fur.
“What are you building?” Lianyi asked, looking at the snowballs.
“A little prince,” Liu Fenyun said with a smile. “The snow is as white as your fur, so I couldn’t resist shaping it like you.”
Lianyi examined it closely and thought the “snow cat” was too small, resembling a kitten rather than her.
Recalling a recent sight of a mother cat with her newborns in the outer city, she felt her face flush and irritation rise. She swatted Liu Fenyun’s snowballs apart, bit her collar, and carried her off toward the bedchamber.
Liu Fenyun looked down the snow cat had only a head, body, and ears, no limbs or tail yet left all alone, which seemed a pity.
“You’ll accompany me to the Herb Hall from now on. No more trips to the High Priestess Hall!”
Back in the bedchamber, Lianyi glared at Liu Fenyun.
Liu Fenyun forced a smile: “I know my mistake. Please forgive me…”
She apologized while carefully observing Lianyi’s favorability and “darkness” levels, heart racing.
Lianyi’s cold voice: “Is that so? Then tell me, where did you err?”
A life or death question.
Liu Fenyun bowed her head: “First, I agreed to check Luo Binglun’s pulse my first mistake. Second, I prescribed beneficial medicine for her my second mistake.”
She felt Lianyi’s gaze fixed on her for a long while, until she finally said, “Since Luo Binglun is so obsessed with your master, you might as well find an excuse to have your master stay in Zhuohuang for a while. That way, she won’t constantly be summoned to the High Priestess Hall.”
“No! My master would never come!” Liu Fenyun shook her head instinctively. “Everything is in Liuzhi her patients, pharmacy, clinic, medical records, and notes. If she comes to Zhuohuang, Luo Binglun will imprison her in Suoyue Pavilion. She wouldn’t be able to return!”
Lianyi pouted. “Isn’t being unable to return the point? Then Luo Binglun would focus only on her and leave you alone.”
Liu Fenyun still felt uneasy and shook her head. Lianyi suddenly pressed close, nestling into her arms.
“I’ve told you before, stay away from Luo Binglun,” Lianyi whispered. “She follows the Fire God’s doctrine. If she discovers your true identity, the only way out is to escape Zhuohuang or we’ll both be burned at the stake.”
Feeling a chill run through her, Liu Fenyun flinched as sharp claws pierced her neck, and a faint metallic scent filled the air. Lianyi’s sharp claws pinned her down, an overwhelming force leaving no room to resist.
“Lianyi’s darkness level has risen to 50!”
A subtle sucking and swallowing sound reached Liu Fenyun’s ears.
She hadn’t expected Lianyi to be so enraged she froze, too stunned to move.
It even felt as if Lianyi could devour her entirely, lips brushing her neck. What should have been a tender gesture now sent shivers down her spine.
“If you act so unwisely again, I’ll truly eat you bones, flesh, and blood, all chewed and swallowed,” Lianyi warned.
She released Liu Fenyun and gently pushed her.
Exhausted and slightly drained from the bite, Liu Fenyun collapsed on the bed, feeling dizzy and weak.
Lianyi sat beside her, carefully wiping blood from her fingers and lips, then brought over the medicine box, laying out ointments in front of Liu Fenyun.
“Quick, find the healing medicine!” she ordered coldly. “Next time, I’ll bite your neck off directly.”
After a long while, Liu Fenyun recovered enough to tremulously reach for the medicine.
Lianyi’s favorability didn’t decrease, but her darkness remained at 50.
This was Lianyi’s first and perhaps last warning. Liu Fenyun knew not to challenge the limits of a yandere.
Once she finished treating Liu Fenyun, Lianyi tidied her hands, and the servants brought dinner three vegetable dishes, a bowl of crucian carp soup as the main dish, and a golden fried square pastry, resembling crispy fried yogurt.
The servants left, closing the doors. Lianyi set the dishes and utensils with a smile, acting as if nothing had happened.
“Does your neck still hurt?” she asked.
“Yes,” Liu Fenyun replied, instinctively holding her neck. Fortunately, the wound wasn’t serious; otherwise, she’d have had to rest.
Lianyi, having cooled down, felt guilty seeing Liu Fenyun’s weakness. She carefully removed the fish bones from a tender piece of meat and placed it in Liu Fenyun’s bowl.
“Eat this… to recover,” she said softly.
Liu Fenyun nodded and ate without hesitation.
After finishing the fish, she took a few bites of rice, and Lianyi handed her another piece. Liu Fenyun thanked her and continued eating.
By the end of the meal, the medicinal soup meant to nourish Lianyi had almost entirely gone to Liu Fenyun.
She felt relieved that Lianyi had only vented anger at her and not harmed others.
Understanding Lianyi’s yandere tendencies, Liu Fenyun realized she had to stabilize her behavior. Otherwise, once the darkness level maxed out, Lianyi could easily kill her.
Thinking of her master’s calming prescription, she decided to adjust it.
After dinner, Liu Fenyun carefully rewrote the prescription, substituting the two main ingredients with gentler alternatives and adding a stomach-protecting auxiliary herb. She neatly copied it and called Lianyi over.
“From now on, take one pill before bed,” she said solemnly. “If you persist, your condition will improve.”
Lianyi: ?
She didn’t understand why Liu Fenyun suddenly mentioned her illness, but it wasn’t sarcastic. She looked at the prescription, which seemed fine, and bargained: “You may give me an extra dose, but the calming decoction must stop.”
Previously, Liu Fenyun had given her a calming soup for restless nights. It worked but was bitter and pungent, leaving her feeling as if her entire body was filled with herbs.
Liu Fenyun agreed, took back the prescription, and smiled, extending her hand: “Both main herbs are in the garden. Will you come with me to collect them?”
To keep a yandere stable, more companionship was necessary.
Normally, Lianyi was obedient. After a moment’s hesitation, she held Liu Fenyun’s hand, turning into a big white cat, nuzzling her face and chin softly.
“Carry me. I want to watch you gather herbs,” she purred.
