- Chapter 1 - You Were the One Who Provoked Me First
“Damn, whose Omega is in heat? It smells so good.”
“It’s an A-grade Bergamot. To have such a strong, sweet scent and still dare to go out—they’ve got some nerve.”
Lu Siyan’s cheeks were flushed crimson, his breathing ragged, and his vision blurred behind eyes dampened by sweat. He reached out to cover his nape, where the scent gland was severely swollen and throbbing like a small walnut, as he stumbled away in a daze.
The gland patch used to mask pheromone leakage had been lost at some point. His scent organ was now completely exposed, and in a short time, it would only attract more and more low-level Alphas.
“Hey, Omega, open the door.”
“Let big brother give you a bite, and you’ll feel much better.”
“Just let me mark you, and no other Alpha will dare touch you.”
“My pheromone is B-grade Green Ivy. It smells great—want to give it a try?”
To an Omega in heat, the world was nothing but the sound of heavy breathing. The space around him seemed to warp in size, and the lights above flickered between brightness and shadow. Driven by a massive surge of panic, he burst into a restroom stall and slammed the lock shut just before someone could grab him.
The heat rolling up from his lower abdomen was fierce and surging, making his skin feel scalding to the touch. Sweat, saturated with the scent of his pheromones, secreted wildly, leaving his body drenched and slick.
“Hey, smell that? Could this be a virgin Omega?”
“The pheromones are so sweet they’re almost fishy. I want to see how much longer he can hold out.”
“Wait until his mind goes cloudy; he’ll have to open the door and beg us to bite him.”
From outside came base, mocking laughter. Lu Siyan had collapsed the moment he entered the narrow space. His knees hit the floor, scraping off a layer of skin, and the wound burned with sharp pain.
His fingers scrambled through the items spilled from his backpack until they found a box of extra-strength suppression patches that hadn’t been opened yet. His vision was a chaotic blur, and his fingertips trembled so violently that even peeling off the adhesive backing felt like an impossible dream.
No, I can’t… I can’t let these delinquent Alphas mark me.
The Omega’s heart raced, his breath caught, and the tip of his pink-tinged nose was wet with perspiration. He shook his head hard, trying to stay conscious, and bit down savagely on his slender white wrist, hoping the pain would drag back his sanity.
After frantically wiping the sweat from his nape, he used the entire box of patches to cover his swollen gland. However, the small room was already completely saturated with the scent of Bergamot, and it wouldn’t dissipate anytime soon. If he didn’t run, he was essentially a sitting duck.
Gripping a canister of anti-wolf spray, the Omega charged back out.
Sizzle—!
The delinquent Alphas were caught off guard, clutching their eyes and howling in pain. He took the chance to escape, ducking into a fire escape, but they were quick to chase after him.
“Damned Omega, what are you acting all pure for? When you’re in heat, don’t you still have to beg us Alphas?”
“Bitch, you can’t survive without an Alpha. Omegas are born inferior!”
Lu Siyan ran and fell, fell and crawled, crawled up and ran again. The Omega, who had been pampered since childhood, was now covered in bruises. He reached a short flight of stairs but found he couldn’t climb them; he couldn’t shake the shadows behind him.
Just as he was on the brink of a mental and physical breakdown, a faint scent of cold Camellia and Cedar drifted past his nose. It acted as a powerful relief to his scorching anxiety and rising body temperature.
It was an Alpha. An S-grade Alpha. The cold, clean pheromones of Camellia and Cedar.
It felt so good. It smelled so wonderful.
The nearly desperate Omega’s eyes were rimmed with red, but they suddenly lit up as if he had found a savior. Lu Siyan looked up to see a door to another fire escape being pushed open just inches away.
The man’s well-defined fingers held a half-burnt cigarette, and his wrist was wrapped in white gauze. In his blurred, shaking vision, Lu Siyan could make out a tall, upright figure in black. Though he couldn’t see clearly, he felt the man was handsome. No—extraordinarily handsome.
The Omega rushed forward in a panic, slamming into the man with a thud. He heard the man on the other side of the door clutch his hand and swear under his breath, “F*ck!”
Lu Siyan didn’t have time to apologize. Instinct drove him to cling to the man’s body, his voice sounding as if it were coated in honey: “Save me.”
The S-grade Alpha’s spine went rigid, but he didn’t push him away. In those few seconds of silence, the Omega could feel the man’s gaze falling on him, sizing him up. Lu Siyan couldn’t stand steadily; his arms wrapped tightly around the Alpha’s waist as his breath came in heavy, uneven gasps.
Between the Omega’s rising temperature, his out-of-control pheromones, and the two delinquent “yellow-haired” thugs chasing from behind, the man quickly grasped the situation.
So, it’s an Omega in heat being targeted by Alphas with bad intentions.
The man gave a cold sneer, dropped his cigarette, and crushed it under his foot. His innate aristocratic aura pressured everyone around him as he spoke in a freezing tone: “Get lost.”
Not leaving yet?
An S-grade Alpha—and a coniferous tree type at that, Pine family. They definitely couldn’t win. Moreover, seeing the Rolex on the man’s wrist, they figured he was someone they couldn’t afford to provoke. But having finally encountered such a cute Omega in heat…
“Brother, it’s a misunderstanding. That little guy is my partner.”
“He just went into heat and isn’t thinking straight. He’s just throwing a tantrum.”
Lu Siyan shook his head while crying, “No, I don’t know them.”
The man reminded them impatiently, “Didn’t you hear him?”
He doesn’t know you. You can get lost now.
Besides, the kid was a virgin; his pheromones were incredibly pure. How could he be your partner? Truly a toad wishing for swan meat, standing there talking nonsense with a B-grade face. Asking for a beating.
Seeing that they wouldn’t leave, the man casually rolled up his sleeves and took off his watch. “Fine. I see having a nose is useless for you two.”
Might as well just break them.
The B-grade thugs heard the underlying threat and waved their hands frantically. “No, no!”
But they were too slow to run. Suddenly, an overwhelming, surging wave of Camellia and Cedar pheromones crashed down like a collapsing snow mountain. Under the pressure of a high-level Alpha, the low-level Alphas had no power to resist. The cold, fresh pine scent became choking in its intensity.
However, for Lu Siyan in his heat, the scent was perfect.
The young Omega, lacking self-restraint, began to crazily and greedily try to extract more pheromones from the Alpha’s body to soothe himself. While the thugs below the stairs were being pressed down so hard they couldn’t even stand straight, Lu Siyan’s nose had already unceremoniously buried itself into the man’s neck.
So fragrant. It smelled so good. He wanted to smell more.
The Omega didn’t care about the battle at all; he didn’t even know when the thugs had been driven away. He was surrounded by the pheromones he loved, and the sense of comfort was lethally intoxicating.
It wasn’t until a sudden, low chuckle sounded that the Omega was carefully pushed away by the tip of his nose.
“Little guy, are you taking advantage of me?”
Without the man’s body for support, Lu Siyan instantly lost his strength. He swayed and slumped to the floor, leaning against the corner. Fine beads of sweat covered his forehead, and his eyes were misty and tearful. He looked like a fish tossed onto the shore, struggling to breathe—weak and exhausted.
But having been comforted by the Alpha’s pheromones, his condition had begun to stabilize. He was no longer as frantic as before.
However, the sudden interruption of the intimacy made Lu Siyan’s eyes widen slightly. He looked up with a mix of grievance for being pushed away, timidity, and a silent questioning look. The unintentional charm of the Omega was heart-wrenchingly cute.
The man knelt to level his gaze with him. “You like S-grade Alphas?”
Lu Siyan dazed for a moment, realizing the man was talking to him. He nodded, then quickly shook his head. He wasn’t lying; he had seen many S-grade Alphas over the years, but encountering a scent he liked this much… this man was the first.
It just so happened that he liked his pheromones, and the man happened to be an S-grade Alpha. So, if you calculated it that way, did he like S-grade Alphas? No, no… the math was wrong.
The man laughed softly. “You sure know how to pick ’em. You look down on B-grade thugs, but you like an S-grade handsome guy like me?”
Lu Siyan couldn’t see clearly, but he stared at the person and nodded seriously this time. Yes, he was really handsome—especially when he crushed the cigarette and rolled up his sleeves to deal with those people. He was exactly his type.
The Omega asked obediently, “Can you mark me?”
The man laughed out loud. “Mark you?” He clicked his tongue. “While I understand why you’d fall in love at first sight with a handsome guy like me, however… No.”
An Omega in heat is entirely controlled by hormones. One moment, they might say they are the reincarnation of Ultraman. Words of love and confession in this state were even less believable than an Alpha saying, “I’ll love you forever” in bed.
This little guy is quite naughty.
The man had just saved him, and now the kid was trying to trick him into committing a crime?
After being rejected, the little Omega grew teary-eyed. The corners of his mouth drooped, and his nose turned red. “I don’t care. I want you to mark me.”
“Are you trying to cling to me?”
The Omega nodded. “Mhm…” He admitted honestly, “I like your pheromones.” He wanted to stay with the Camellia and Cedar forever.
“I get it, my pheromones do smell great…” The man boasted, reaching out to ruffle the boy’s hair. The Omega immediately clung to him again, as if afraid this natural container of suppressants would run away.
The Alpha tapped his hand. “Hold on for thirty seconds. I’ll call someone to take you to the emergency room.”
Emergency room? No, he didn’t want that.
The Omega shook his head frantically. He didn’t like those cold medical instruments or the needles piercing his skin—it would hurt. He only wanted the Camellia and Cedar pheromones. He wanted the Alpha in front of him.
“I want you to mark me now. A permanent mark is fine too.”
He was in too much pain. In all these years, he had never smelled such a comfortable Alpha pheromone. The physiological attack of the heat was devastating. Lu Siyan clutched his stomach and began to sob uncontrollably. “Please, I beg you.”
The Alpha caught his rising hands. “I know you’re suffering, but we can’t…” The man softened his tone. “How about this: just smell my pheromones for a bit. Once you feel better, we’ll get a doctor over.”
How could he take advantage of someone like this? To mark a barely adult, delirious Omega in the middle of a heat cycle? The man coaxed him gently.
The Omega hugged him tightly and nodded through his tears. But unexpectedly, the moment he was enveloped by the man’s gentle, cold Camellia and Cedar scent, Lu Siyan suddenly tilted his chin up.
He wanted this Alpha.
The man clearly hadn’t expected it. In an instant, their noses bumped together. The man’s lip was cut by the Omega’s tooth, and he hissed, backing away while clutching his bruised nose.
He didn’t have time to scold the little guy for the “foul play,” because the next second, the Omega grabbed his collar forcefully and pulled him down.
“I told you to mark me!”
The fierce and overbearing Omega seemed to have snapped. Since he didn’t know how to kiss, he just bumped into him recklessly. The clashing of teeth and noses couldn’t be helped, so he simply jumped up to wrap his arms around the man’s shoulders and bit down hard on his nape.
“Fuck!”
Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
The little beast that had shown its fangs slammed the Alpha against the wall. The man’s brow twitched violently; the pain in his flesh was a tearing sensation. A massive amount of pheromones was sucked away through the blood. The Cedar scent smoothed out the restless heat; the Omega’s blurred eyes began to clear, and his logic briefly returned.
Lu Siyan blinked. Wait, why is my mouth clamped onto an Alpha’s shoulder? And an S-grade one?
The Omega realized a beat late that he had been acting like a spoiled brat. He immediately scrambled off the man in apology. He took a moment to process everything. “I-I’m sorry.”
He hadn’t meant it… even though his fingers were currently pressed against his own lips, which were stained with the man’s blood.
The Omega’s gaze darted around guiltily. He stammered as he backed toward the fire exit door, his physical strength severely drained. The Alpha held his injured shoulder and bent over, dropping to one knee. The man’s eyes were dark and heavy; something was wrong, especially the scent radiating from his body.
Lu Siyan’s breath hitched. He nearly jumped. “R-Rut? You’re in a rut?”
Why? Why so suddenly? It couldn’t be because of that bite he just took, right?
An Omega in heat and an Alpha in rut alone in a room? This was practically an invitation to a disaster. Lu Siyan, feeling guilty and worried, pressed himself against the door. “I’ll go get a doctor for you.”
But his legs were too weak to run far. Just as his fingers touched the door handle, a shadow loomed over him. The man grabbed the scent gland at the back of his neck and hauled him back.
The Omega instinctively shrank back, nearly screaming because his “vital point” was being held. The man pinned him forcefully against the same wall he had just been leaning on, his large hand pressing down on the boy’s fluffy head.
With just a little pressure from that broad palm, the man smoothed over the nape, exposing the gland. He could feel the delicate Omega trembling under his absolute suppression.
The Alpha had completely lost control. The rut had been forcibly dragged out by the pheromones released by the Omega during his heat. He leaned down, his teeth piercing the gland that had never been touched by anyone—dominant, fierce, and leaving no room for escape.
Lu Siyan was pinned down with just one hand. Before he lost consciousness completely, he faintly heard the man behind him mutter in a raspy voice:
“You were the one who provoked me first.”
