Chapter 11: Wealthy Feifei · Global Limited Edition — A Group of People All Turned Their Heads at Once…
The two sat by the small round table near the study window. The deep brown wooden window was like a picture frame, freezing the snowy night into a still image.
Le Qingfei brought food he had prepared with his own hands.
Two glasses of orange juice, four tiny sandwiches, and red, green, orange, and yellow cherry tomatoes of various colors—the colors were as vibrant as the upcoming Christmas season.
“The jam for the sandwiches is strawberry, grape, and fig. I made them all myself, you know. If there’s one you like, I’ll make a bit more next time,” Le Qingfei said. “Thank you for teaching me to ski.”
After finishing his expression of gratitude, Le Qingfei began to apologize.
“I didn’t even know you were taking care of me, so I was really fierce toward you,” Le Qingfei’s hands were both placed obediently on his thighs. “I’m sorry, Fu Li.”
“The one who should apologize is me. Waking up to see a stranger appearing in your room, it is only natural to be afraid. I didn’t consider things thoroughly enough.”
Fu Li furrowed his brows slightly, appearing as though he didn’t want to chat about this topic, but he didn’t expect Le Qingfei to continue speaking.
“During last year’s summer camp, a teacher snuck into my log cabin to watch me sleep…”
Seeing Fu Li’s expression darken, Le Qingfei explained: “Nothing worse happened. Not long after that bad guy entered my room, he was hit with a left punch… and a right punch…!”
Le Qingfei threw punches as he spoke. “All his teeth were knocked out. Yan Song is super awesome.”
“……”
Fu Li picked up his glass and took a light sip.
Le Qingfei worried that he was misunderstanding again. “Yan Song is completely different from that bad guy. He came to my log cabin that night because he was worried I’d be uncomfortable from being too tired during the daytime training, so he specially brought medicine over. Oh, just like you tonight.”
Having finished speaking, Le Qingfei froze on the spot. His extended index finger hung suspended in mid-air as he stared unblinkingly at the man in front of him.
The study fell silent for a second.
After a moment of thought, Fu Li smiled and said, “So, can you fall in love with me just like you fell in love with him?”
Le Qingfei’s thoughts were instantly yanked back.
Annoying.
Fu Li was starting to talk weird again.
With malice rising from his gut, he grabbed a cherry tomato and threw it at Fu Li. The other party raised his hand, caught it, and slowly, systematically popped it into his mouth.
“If you speak again, you are a bad guy.”
Fu Li continued to tease him. Right when Le Qingfei couldn’t take it anymore—after being asked, “Since you won’t let me call you Feifei, can I call you Baby?”—and was preparing to leave, Fu Li took out his phone and asked him.
“Feifei, is there a problem with your account?”
“What is it?”
Le Qingfei walked over, looking at his own WeChat interface on the phone screen. “Is there any problem?”
“Right here. You said you posted all the photos and videos taken during the day, but how come I only see a single line?”
“……”
He and Fu Li had added each other as friends right when they first started living together; back then, he still hated Fu Li very much.
“Maybe, it’s because, the network lagged.”
“Oh?”
“Yes, yes, yes.” Le Qingfei ran outward while nodding. “One minute. Refresh and look again after one minute.”
It could be seen now.
Fu Li sat down behind the desk, picked up his coffee cup, and flipped through Le Qingfei’s Moments page by page.
【[Snowflake] Skiing! [Snowflake] [Double Boards] [Single Board]】
Fu Li clicked open the meticulously selected nine-square grid layout of photos. The other eight pictures were all scenery photos, while the center one was Le Qingfei’s selfie.
Le Qingfei’s ski goggles were worn on his forehead as he tilted his head to wink. His slender index finger, stripped of its glove, poked his cheek, denting the flush skin slightly, looking like a fully ripened honey peach being pinched by someone.
Press and hold, save.
Perhaps because there weren’t many happy things worth commemorating, Le Qingfei only had a few posts in his Moments over the past year, but every single picture was meticulously chosen, and the brightly colored emojis outnumbered the black text.
Fu Li zoomed in to look at Le Qingfei’s graduation photo.
The uniform of Hardlyn Public School looked exceptionally good on Le Qingfei. The white shirt complemented him just as well as pink did. Even though he wasn’t the child with the top grades, he was still arranged to stand right in the center.
Like a highly fragrant gardenia flower, everyone’s gaze would be drawn to him.
At the ski resort, a group of people turned their heads all at once to look at Le Qingfei.
—To be exact, they saw that face first.
So remarkably beautiful, yet without a single aggressive angle, smooth and rounded like a pearl flashing brilliantly in the snow.
However, the steps of those wanting to strike up a conversation were quite self-awarely retracted after they discovered he was wearing a globally limited-edition ski suit and gear.
A male student from the same department sized Le Qingfei up from top to bottom, letting out a sly smile: “Yo, Young Master Le, where have you struck it rich lately? Share one of those limited-edition collaboration boards with me too.”
Le Qingfei crossed his arms, raising his chin proudly. “It’s just average.”
“I only have two boards, and I already gave them to my best friend, Xu Yi. If there are any next time, I’ll give one to you.”
Having finished speaking, Le Qingfei walked away happily.
Not far away, a man holding a bouquet of roses looked around. Catching sight of Le Qingfei, he immediately ran over.
“Qingfei, Qingfei… where have you been these past few days? I went to your house, but I never saw you come out.”
“Kong Linxu,” Le Qingfei stamped his foot, “I don’t want your flowers. I don’t like you. Don’t confess to me anymore, it’s very annoying.”
“These are flowers to celebrate the end of final exams. Your grades are so poor, you must have studied very hard, so I just wanted to send you flowers to make you a little happy. But I couldn’t find you that day, I only saw you leave with a man…” Kong Linxu had a full head of blue hair, his face bitter, looking all shriveled and wrinkled. “Who was that person, Qingfei?”
Le Qingfei ignored him.
Kong Linxu didn’t dare ask further either, turning instead to talk about wanting to donate money to Pata Cabin—Pata Cabin was the stray cat and dog rescue base run by Le Qingfei and Xu Yi.
“I don’t want your money.”
Le Qingfei didn’t like this. He was currently using Fu Li’s money because Fu Li was his husband; what was the deal with using another man’s money?
But the little cats and dogs shouldn’t miss out on getting money because of him… Le Qingfei hesitated a bit.
Kong Linxu continued to stuff the flowers into Le Qingfei’s arms when suddenly, with a “smack” sound, a ball of snow smashed straight onto his face.
Le Qingfei looked up and saw the true annoying ghost.
Fu Qian glanced at Kong Linxu, then packed another snowball and threw it at Le Qingfei’s leg. Afterward, he and the group of wealthy second-generation lackeys behind him giggled as they took the magic carpet lift up the mountain and left.
Fu Qian always bullied him inexplicably like this.
In the afternoon, everyone went to the mountaintop to gather.
Before Christmas every year, students from Hardlyn Public School and Imperial Harbor University would occupy the ski resort, after which they would fly to all parts of the world to spend Christmas.
Le Qingfei had never participated before.
Buying ski equipment and lift tickets was a hefty expense, and he was also afraid people would laugh at him for skiing poorly.
But this time was different. It felt as though after moving into the big house and putting on new clothes, everything he did would succeed.
So he agreed, never imagining that Fu Li would buy him globally limited-edition ski gear and ski suits, and even teach him to ski.
Fu Li skied very well on both double boards and single boards, and could even spin around through the air with a swish-swish. While accompanying him, Fu Li skied backward while holding his phone to record videos and take photos for him, and could even rush over to protect him right when he himself was about to fall down—he was very, very powerful.
Thinking about it, Le Qingfei looked at the bunch of people who suddenly started performing short turns and spraying snow walls right in front of him, and felt it was quite boring.
“Buzz buzz——”
Fu Li sent him a message.
【Fu Li: Is Feifei having fun?】
Le Qingfei took off his glove, lowering his head to reply, when he heard Xu Yi beside him mention that they could stay together tonight. He let out an “ah” and asked, “What stay together?”
“The hot spring hotel here. Since you finally came skiing, aren’t we going to stay a few more days? I heard that soaking in the hot spring and eating strawberry chocolate mousse here is pretty excellent.”
Le Qingfei felt a little tempted.
But he had promised Fu Li that he wouldn’t stay overnight outside.
He sent a message to Fu Li to ask, and very quickly, a call came through. To Le Qingfei’s surprise—yet also within his expectations—Fu Li agreed.
Le Qingfei spun around in the snow happily.
Fu Qian passed by, packing another snowball and throwing it at his foot.
Le Qingfei glanced at the surroundings; there were no little lackeys. He bent over, scooped up a big clump with both hands, and smashed it back. Taking advantage of the moment before Fu Qian could react, he threw a second clump, and immediately dragged Xu Yi along to ski away.
At sunset, Le Qingfei didn’t plan on night skiing. Having changed his clothes, just as he came out of the changing room, he was called out to by someone.
It was the ski coach he met the day before yesterday, who asked him with a smile, “Your boyfriend didn’t come today?”
Just as Le Qingfei was about to speak, Fu Li’s voice rang out from behind him.
“Feifei.”
Amid the golden falling snow, Fu Li held that strawberry plush toy named Rabbit, walking toward them with his familiar gentle smile hanging on the corners of his lips.
Hmm?
Le Qingfei blinked his eyes.
“Why did you come?”
Fu Li handed the strawberry plush toy into his arms. “Worried you wouldn’t sleep well without it.”
“I’m fine, I don’t really hug things when I sleep.” Le Qingfei hugged the rabbit happily. “But thank you anyway.”
With a smile on his lips, Fu Li turned toward the ski coach who was preparing to slip away. “What a coincidence to meet again.”
“Just to correct you, I am not his boyfriend. I am his husband.”
