Make Her Heart Flutter - Chapter 55
“It was an impulse, a lack of self-control… Actually, you wanted to kiss me too, didn’t you?”
The last few words were swallowed between their lips. Jiang Qi was “forced” to accept the kiss but soon turned passivity into initiative.
In the small bedroom, an ambiguous atmosphere began to spread.
A long time later, Jiang Qi finally released the other, watching as she remained dazed and lost in the lingering emotions of the kiss.
Unable to resist, Jiang Qi leaned in again and gently pecked Chi Shuang’s lips, her voice barely audible: “I love you.”
Chi Shuang’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. She took a deep breath and brushed her thumb over Jiang Qi’s lips. “Your lipstick is smudged. Come here, let me remove your makeup.”
With that, she sat down on a chair first and patted the bed opposite her. “Sit here.”
“Sit?” Jiang Qi blinked, feigning innocence.
As Jiang Qi approached, Chi Shuang reached out and flicked her forehead. “What’s going on in that head of yours? Hurry up and sit down so I can remove your makeup. If you’re late, I won’t help you.”
Jiang Qi pouted, looking nothing like the domineering CEO she was known to be.
Chi Shuang poured makeup remover onto a cotton pad. “Look at your lips, they’re as red as a monkey’s bottom.”
Jiang Qi tilted her head to glance at the mirror behind Chi Shuang and said smugly, “No way, I think they look pretty sexy.”
“You shameless thing.” Chi Shuang couldn’t help but laugh. She pressed the cotton pad soaked in makeup remover over Jiang Qi’s eyes and gently massaged. “Does it hurt? Did any get in your eyes?” she asked softly.
“No,” Jiang Qi replied.
The fragrance of the makeup remover couldn’t mask the intoxicating scent of Baileys that clung to Chi Shuang.
Jiang Qi had tasted this creamy liqueur at a bar before and found it overly milky and cloying. But now, the scent on Chi Shuang seemed different, pleasant, even addictive… She wanted to keep breathing it in.
Am I some kind of pervert?
Jiang Qi inwardly mocked herself, yet a smile crept unbidden to her lips.
“What’s so funny?” Chi Shuang’s slender finger tapped the corner of Jiang Qi’s mouth.
Jiang Qi narrowed her eyes. “Nothing.” Then she gently bit Chi Shuang’s finger.
It didn’t hurt. Instead, a subtle electric sensation traveled from the finger, up the arm, and straight to the heart, leaving a tingling numbness.
This is dangerous! Chi Shuang took a deep breath. This girl… Could she actually be thinking about… that?
Distracted, Chi Shuang withdrew her finger and continued removing Jiang Qi’s makeup until her fair, unblemished skin was revealed. Only then did she hand Jiang Qi a facial cleanser. “Go wash up.”
Jiang Qi obediently took it and went to the bathroom to wash her face. It was Chi Shuang’s bathroom, filled with the faint scent of chocolate milk.
As she faced her fair complexion in the mirror, Jiang Qi dismissed the idea of getting a tan.
After all, this looks just fine. Why bother with the effort?
After admiring herself, Jiang Qi unbuttoned two more buttons on her shirt, revealing her delicate collarbone and a generous expanse of pale skin.
She smiled faintly at her reflection.
When she stepped out of the bathroom, Chi Shuang was tidying her vanity, putting everything back in its place.
Hearing the movement, Chi Shuang glanced up and was taken aback by Jiang Qi’s “disheveled” appearance. “Anyone would think my bathroom did something to you.”
Despite her words, Chi Shuang couldn’t help but swallow hard, a classic case of her body betraying her words.
Jiang Qi took a few steps toward her. “Are you sure you don’t like what you see?”
Her tone was both direct and seductive.
Chi Shuang fastened her clothes and sighed, “Aren’t you an Alpha? Tempting me like this, do you want me to become your Omega?”
Jiang Qi’s gaze burned intensely: “If it’s with you…” Of course, I’d be willing.
Hearing the conversation take a strange turn, Chi Shuang reached out and covered Jiang Qi’s mouth. “Go on, head back now.”
She had already been indulgent enough. Until things were clarified, she didn’t want to take things any further.
Jiang Qi never forced Chi Shuang. Hearing this, she obediently nodded, but as she turned to leave, she clenched her fist.
The dream of a cozy life with a wife and children was still a long way off! She hadn’t forgotten that she was still just a probationary girlfriend, not yet officially confirmed.
Yes, that’s right! She had to remember her place.
Jiang Qi repeated this to herself, brainwashing her own thoughts.
Meanwhile, Chi Shuang was completely unaware of Jiang Qi’s inner turmoil. Having already finished washing up, she sat in front of her computer, opening a Word document and typing something.
As she typed, she suddenly remembered, had she forgotten something?
Right! What about the thing she had promised to tell Jiang Qi when she returned tonight? But then again, it was she who had sent her away!
Oh well, it didn’t matter. All she wanted was an attitude; she could always ask again next time.
On Jiang Qi’s side, after her shower, she rolled around on the bed, wrapping herself in the blanket like a little sushi roll.
There were only half a month left until the variety show ended. Lin Wei’s side needed to speed things up.
To win the beauty’s heart, of course, she had to put in some effort~
After that day, there were no more tasks. Life returned to its previous calm.
As the show’s end drew nearer, everyone grew increasingly reluctant to part.
After three months of living together day and night, even a dog would have grown attached.
Thanks to the prize money from the amusement park outing and the neighbors knowing the show was ending, they had received plenty of vegetables and meat.
Their meals instantly upgraded, not only did they have meat with every meal, but it was now four dishes and a soup. Jiang Ran enjoyed Chi Shuang’s cooking so much that she almost didn’t want to go home.
On the third-to-last day, terrible news struck the small mountain village.
A child had gone missing.
A four- or five-year-old boy. He hadn’t returned home all night.
The police arrived and began searching, but they hadn’t found him. Neighbors joined the effort, and the boy’s grandmother even came to ask the production team for help.
Given the circumstances, the director felt obliged to assist. After discussing with Jiang Qi and the others, they decided to split up and help search.
Filming was nearly over, and they had gathered enough footage. Finding the child, however, required as many people as possible.
Especially with the recent continuous rain, the sooner they found him, the better.
“Jiang Ran and Shang Chumu, search along the river. Yan Xu and Tang Qiluo, check the rice fields, especially areas with thick grass and trees,” Chi Shuang directed.
Jiang Ran and the others nodded. Jiang Qi asked, “What about us? Should we search the mountains?”
Chi Shuang nodded. “Yes, are you willing?”
It was raining outside, and the mountain paths were muddy and difficult to traverse. Chi Shuang, who had done hard labor since childhood, wasn’t afraid, but for someone like Jiang Qi, raised in luxury, she felt the need to ask.
“Of course,” Jiang Qi replied, as if the question were unnecessary, and promptly grabbed an umbrella.
The local customs here were simple and honest; when one family faced trouble, almost every household would lend a hand, except for the police who came searching. On this rainy day, everyone went out with umbrellas to look for the child.
“Let’s go,” Jiang Qi said, having changed into waterproof shoes, as she tilted her chin toward Chi Shuang.
