Make Her Heart Flutter - Chapter 47
Although Jiang Qi had known about this for a long time, hearing it directly from the person involved felt entirely different.
Her heart trembled, and she wished she had met Chi Shuang earlier.
These years… must have been tough, right?
But she didn’t voice her thoughts, afraid of startling the other. Some things needed to progress gradually, there was no rushing them.
Just like her relationship with Chi Shuang. Though they seemed close now, it wasn’t enough.
She wanted to be closer, even closer.
She wanted to know everything about her.
Jiang Qi waited for more, but nothing came. Chi Shuang reached out and gently pinched her cheek. “Alright, time to sleep. You won’t be able to wake up tomorrow.”
Seeing that Chi Shuang truly looked tired, Jiang Qi nodded. “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight…”
Chi Shuang’s voice was soft, like a whisper in a lover’s ear.
Only when Chi Shuang’s breathing steadied did Jiang Qi carefully turn over, facing her, resting her left forearm beneath her head.
The person before her was sleeping soundly, a few stray strands of hair failing to obscure her breathtaking beauty.
For some reason, as Jiang Qi gazed at her, it felt as though they were separated by time.
Early the next morning.
Summer days were long and nights short, by eight o’clock, the sun was already blazing.
Jiang Qi was practically roasted awake.
She raised a hand to shield her eyes from the sun and turned, only to find Chi Shuang gone. The space beside her was empty, the blankets neatly folded.
Since the sun was too intense to linger in bed, she gathered the blankets and went downstairs.
The air conditioner’s indicator light was on, had the power been restored?
Jiang Qi freshened up quickly in ten minutes and headed downstairs.
Chi Shuang removed her apron and set breakfast on the table. “Awake?”
Jiang Qi nodded. “Is it fixed?”
“Yeah, a blown fuse. We replaced it,” Chi Shuang replied.
Just then, Tang Qiluo, Shang Chumu, Yan Xu, and Jiang Ran filed in. “Have you seen the new task notification?”
Jiang Qi and Chi Shuang shook their heads simultaneously.
“Amusement park,” Shang Chumu announced.
Jiang Qi lowered her gaze, her breathing slightly uneven.
“We’re completing tasks at an amusement park? They’re not making us ride the attractions, are they?” Chi Shuang said.
Over the years, her company, Vic, had meticulously crafted her as a goddess, molding her into a gentle, almost artificial persona.
Riding amusement park rides would inevitably disrupt her composure, and the company had always forbidden such activities.
The variety shows she participated in usually involved sitting prettily with flawless makeup for interviews.
This time, the production team must have offered a hefty sum. With only two years left on her contract, they were likely squeezing out her remaining value.
“Amusement park tickets are so expensive, I can’t afford them,” Shang Chumu remarked, suspecting the production team might make them buy their own tickets for the task, given their track record.
“I’m broke!” Jiang Ran instantly clutched her meager wallet.
With only a little over three hundred yuan for meals and amusement park tickets starting at a hundred fifty, they couldn’t possibly film this episode with just two people, right?
Their collective miserly expressions made the director in the control room chuckle helplessly. He picked up the loudspeaker and announced:
[Don’t worry, you won’t have to buy tickets. But this task is different from before, there’s a surprise if you lose~]
[Alright, hurry up and get ready. We leave in half an hour.]
As soon as the words were spoken, Jiang Ran began to complain, “It’s always last-minute notice. I never get the chance to properly put on a mask and dress up. Ugh, going out without makeup is going to cost me followers.”
“Ranran, even if you don’t go out, there are still several cameras pointed at you. Relax, if you were going to lose followers, you would have lost them already. The ones who stayed are your true fans,” Tang Qiluo patted her shoulder, offering reverse comfort.
“But going to a big place like an amusement park, if we get recognized, it’ll be a disaster!” Yan Xu expressed his concern.
However, Jiang Qi believed that since the production team had arranged for them to go, they must have prepared accordingly.
No sooner had Yan Xu finished speaking than a crew member arrived carrying several bags of clothes.
Jiang Qi and Chi Shuang exchanged a glance: Oh no, a bad feeling.
The crew member announced, “Come on, come on, one set for each of you. They’re all custom-made to your measurements, and your names are labeled on them.”
Half an hour later, when the group gathered in front of the car, they burst into laughter at the sight of each other.
“Hahahaha, Ranran, why do you even have a beard?”
“Xiao Qi, isn’t your wig a bit too ‘shamate’?”
“Yanyan, you don’t look out of place in women’s clothes, but could you maybe pad your chest a bit? Or wear an extra layer inside?”
“Shang Chumu, what’s going on with you? Hahahaha, why do you have props? Are you cosplaying Bald Qiang?”
“Xiao Shuang, you look great in men’s clothes too! Just a bit too ‘shou’ yeah, definitely ‘shou’!”
Tang Qiluo roasted everyone one by one, then laughed so hard he nearly doubled over in pain.
The smiles on the others’ faces gradually faded as they started firing back with their own sarcastic remarks.
Jiang Qi snorted coldly, “And you’re dressed like a ragpicker, how dare you criticize others?”
“Exactly! Your wig isn’t even on straight!” Jiang Ran chimed in.
Shang Chumu tore off the fake scar on his face, “Look at this, it’s so obviously fake!”
While the others were fooling around, Chi Shuang glanced at Jiang Qi.
Contrary to Tang Qiluo’s “shamate” comment, Jiang Qi was simply wearing a blue wig. Probably because she wasn’t used to styling it, some of her black hair was peeking out, making it look a bit odd.
But Jiang Qi was still Jiang Qi. Only her hair had changed, and her clothes weren’t her usual style. Her face was still the same, but the straight bangs made her look a bit cuter and more lively than before.
Tang Qiluo covered his face, “Hey! Shang Chumu, if you’re going to talk, why do you have to get physical? That’s not fair!”
With that, he turned to Yan Xu and whined, “Yanyan, they’re bullying me~”
Yan Xu gently removed the two hands resting on his arm. His voice remained as gentle as ever, but with a hint of sly mischief, “I didn’t hear anything.”
“Hmph! Brother Yan Xu isn’t on your side!” Shang Chumu said triumphantly.
Tang Qiluo threatened, “Hey, you little brat, trying to drive a wedge between me and Yan Xu? Do you believe I’ll spank you?”
“No, no, no! You’re not even taller than me!” Shang Chumu retorted, hands on his hips.
Afraid the two troublemakers might actually start fighting, the production team quickly ushered everyone into the car.
In Jiang Qi’s car, only she and Chi Shuang were present, making it much quieter.
“Did you take your motion sickness medicine?” Jiang Qi asked first.
The amusement park wasn’t close, it was in the suburbs of Jiangcheng, over an hour’s drive away. Given Chi Shuang’s susceptibility to motion sickness, she definitely wouldn’t last without medication.
Ever since the last incident, Jiang Qi had made sure to keep some on hand. She had already given it to Chi Shuang half an hour earlier.
She read the instructions, motion sickness medication needed to be taken in advance to be effective.
The motion sickness pills she bought last time hadn’t even taken effect by the time she got off and arrived at the filming location.
“I’ve taken them, thank you,” Chi Shuang said with a gentle smile.
Under the camera’s gaze, the two of them maintained a distance that was neither too close nor too far.
Yet, the more they were under the camera’s watch, the stronger Chi Shuang’s urge to kiss her became. For some reason, it carried a hidden thrill.
Just like that kiss in the kitchen last time.
Chi Shuang’s outfit today wasn’t unattractive, it was full of youthful energy, making her seem almost unlike herself.
Her public image had always been that of a gentle, goddess-like figure.
But now, she could easily pass for a high school boy under eighteen. The traits that defined Chi Shuang were toned down, like the single dimple on her left cheek, somehow, an identical one had appeared on the right side.
From Jiang Qi’s vantage point, it looked a bit unnatural, though it probably wouldn’t be noticeable from a slightly farther distance.
At a glance, without careful observation, one would hardly recognize her as the superstar Chi Shuang.
But why go to such lengths with the makeup?
Jiang Qi was a little puzzled.
