Make Her Heart Flutter - Chapter 37
The early morning had clearly left her mind a bit sluggish. She obediently half-crouched, the sensation of fingers brushing across her chest sending shivers so intense that Jiang Qi couldn’t help the increasingly rapid rise and fall of her chest.
Chi Shuang narrowed her eyes, a curve forming at the corner of her lips. “Just as I thought.”
“What?” Jiang Qi asked blankly, before her pupils dilated as if she’d suddenly remembered something. She licked her dry lips. “You just said…”
Playing dumb, Chi Shuang hooked a slender finger under the other’s chin. “Said what?”
That she was her girlfriend, no, a candidate girlfriend.
At this thought, Jiang Qi felt a pang of grievance. Just a candidate? Were there other candidates too?
Seeing Jiang Qi remain silent, lips pressed together, a hint of hurt flickering in her beautiful dark eyes, Chi Shuang’s smile widened. She hooked her fingers under Jiang Qi’s jaw, gently stroking her cheek.
“You just said… candidate girlfriend? Just a candidate?” Her tone grew increasingly plaintive.
“Yes.” Chi Shuang gazed steadily at her, then chuckled softly just as Jiang Qi’s expression grew more dejected. “There’s only one candidate. Did you hear that? Sister…”
Jiang Qi’s eyes widened abruptly, her eyelashes fluttering, the cup in her hand nearly slipping.
Seeing the cup about to fall, Chi Shuang instinctively stepped closer, closing the distance between them.
Their bodies pressed against the cup, the gap between them almost negligible, their breaths intertwining.
Back when they were deeply in love, at their most intimate moments in bed, Chi Shuang had also called her “sister.”
Even though Jiang Qi was slightly younger, Chi Shuang loved calling her that, with a thick, nasal tone, dripping with ambiguity.
Jiang Qi was still kneeling slightly, leaning against the wall. Chi Shuang lowered her head, resting her forehead against Jiang Qi’s. “May I kiss you?”
Her gaze was inquiring, yet unlike her usual gentleness, it carried an edge of possessiveness and aggression.
Jiang Qi lowered her eyes, licking her lips. “Of course.”
With that, she wrapped her arms around Chi Shuang’s waist, completely reversing their roles.
Clatter.
The cup fell to the floor, water splashing everywhere.
Bathed in the light of dawn, the girl was pinned against the wall, kissed deeply. In the quiet, empty space, soft, wet sounds slowly emerged.
It was unclear when it ended. Chi Shuang gasped for breath, her eyes glistening, legs slightly weak, clinging to Jiang Qi like a sticker.
Jiang Qi held that slender waist, her lips brushing against Chi Shuang’s cheek. Her voice was almost a whisper, slightly hoarse and lazily seductive. “What? Having fun teasing me?”
Chi Shuang retorted indignantly, “Do you believe I’ll find a few more candidates?”
Jiang Qi lowered her eyes, her voice soft and pleading. “I was wrong, okay? Don’t give up on me, please…”
Like an innocent, oversized puppy.
Chi Shuang drew a sharp breath and took a step back, only to nearly trip over the cup on the floor.
Jiang Qi reached out and pulled her back, tumbling into her embrace.
Regaining her composure, Chi Shuang spoke defiantly, “Who taught you to be so seductive, huh?”
A glint of amusement shone in Jiang Qi’s eyes as she replied shamelessly, “You did, my little girlfriend.”
“Who’s your little girlfriend? Did I say you’ve been promoted?” Chi Shuang raised an eyebrow, tapping Jiang Qi’s collarbone with her finger, creating a slight distance between them.
Jiang Qi put on an innocent expression again: “So, boss, when can I become a regular employee?”
The morning light was bright, and the Tyndall effect created by the early sun streaming through the window split the space into light and shadow. Chi Shuang stood in the light, while Jiang Qi was shrouded in darkness.
The two locked eyes, just as their lips were about to meet again, a knocking sound came from downstairs.
“Sister Chi~ Are you awake?”
It was Jiang Ran’s voice.
The two quickly pulled apart. Chi Shuang smoothed her hair and glanced at the mirror, only to find her lips swollen and red.
She picked up a cup, shot Jiang Qi a glare, then hurried back to her room to put on a face mask.
Looking at Chi Shuang now, Jiang Qi felt her heart overflowing with sweetness.
She leaned against the wall, casually tousled her hair, and waved at Chi Shuang, who was hastily putting on her mask and heading downstairs.
Then, in a volume low enough to avoid being picked up by the surveillance downstairs, she said: “Hurry up, your little girlfriend, oh, no, your prospective girlfriend is waiting for you at home!”
Chi Shuang nearly stumbled, and then she heard Jiang Qi’s voice again.
“Oh, and your prospective girlfriend wants to eat fried dough sticks~”
Jiang Qi, with her sharp eyesight, noticed Chi Shuang’s ears turning slightly red as she disappeared around the corner, and only then was she satisfied.
Soon, voices could be heard from downstairs. Chi Shuang’s voice was muffled by the mask and hard to make out, but Jiang Qi could hear the curious Jiang Ran asking why she was wearing a mask.
Jiang Qi stood there alone, laughing to herself for a moment, then realized she was acting just like an Omega who’d been wronged and was eager to get back at someone.
So, for the second time, she wondered to herself: Between her and Chi Shuang, who was really the Alpha?
After cleaning up the spilled water on the floor, Jiang Qi decided to go back to sleep.
But she found she couldn’t fall asleep at all, her heart was so full of sweetness it felt like it was about to spill over.
She could only open Weibo and slowly scroll through fanfiction.
Perhaps it was because she had just experienced a kiss that felt even more intense than fanfiction, or maybe she had simply read too much of it. Jiang Qi was gradually growing numb to these storylines, but one title, starkly different from the usual sweet stories, caught her attention.
[The Truth Is False / The Youth You Loved Was Fake]
This wasn’t fanfiction but an edited video.
Jiang Qi clicked on it and turned the volume down to the lowest setting.
The video was a montage of clips from the variety show. Jiang Qi watched intently. If this had been before today, the lyrics would have pierced straight through her heart.
But after waking up this morning, unable to sleep and getting up for a drink of water, everything had changed.
With every line of the song, she refuted it in her mind, thoroughly enjoying herself.
She had watched a tragic fan video of her ship, only to end up laughing.
She opened the comments section and saw a flood of messages:
[Wuwu, this is so heartbreaking, the editing is god-tier!]
[I don’t care, my Jiang-Chi ship is real, wuwu!!]
[I’ll never believe in love again!]
Jiang Qi opened the comment box, frowned, and then closed it. Her follower count had already risen to nearly five million.
Under these circumstances, leaving a comment really wasn’t appropriate. So, after a moment’s thought, she scrolled through her Weibo page. The only post was a lone repost of the show’s official announcement.
Beneath it, many fans were eagerly asking her to post photos, update her Weibo, and share more of her beauty.
Maybe… she should post one?
She picked up her camera and casually tousled her hair. Under the raw lens, her lips appeared slightly swollen but not too noticeably.
After a moment of hesitation, Jiang Qi put down her phone and picked up a highly pigmented lipstick, applying it and pressing her lips together.
She checked her reflection again, it looked better now. Good enough. With a quick snap, a photo from a puzzling angle was taken, resembling something like an ID photo.
Jiang Qi directly posted it on Weibo, captioning it simply with two words: “Good morning.”
Just after posting, a faint noise drifted up from downstairs.
