Make Her Heart Flutter - Chapter 33
Jiang Qi: “……”
“You’ve misunderstood, she’s not my Omega.”
The elderly doctor wore an expression of having seen through everything: “Not yours? Then why are you in such a hurry?”
“Really…”
Jiang Qi sighed helplessly. Seeing the look in the doctor’s eyes, she knew any explanation would be futile, so she simply gave up.
After packing the items and paying, she hurriedly rushed home.
The call had somehow ended during the process of buying the medicine. Jiang Qi stuffed her phone into her pocket and sprinted home even faster than before.
Within a few dozen meters of the courtyard, she stopped to tidy her hair and clothes, reattaching the microphone to her collar.
The cameraman was still standing bewildered at the entrance. The moment he spotted Jiang Qi, he happily began filming again, inwardly relieved.
Thank goodness, she hadn’t disappeared.
But his relief was short-lived, Jiang Qi went straight upstairs upon entering. The second floor was considered a private area, and the director had explicitly forbidden filming there.
After a moment of hesitation, the cameraman could only linger awkwardly downstairs.
Upstairs.
Jiang Qi hesitated for a moment before knocking on Chi Shuang’s door.
There were better options, of course. One of the assistant directors was a female Beta, unaffected by pheromones, making her far more suitable than an Alpha like Jiang Qi.
But Jiang Qi simply didn’t want anyone else to see Chi Shuang in her current state.
What was driving this? Possessiveness?
Ever since she first realized her feelings for Chi Shuang, she had often wondered if it was the influence of that book. Sometimes she wanted to distance herself, yet she couldn’t help but draw closer.
And when she did get close, she had to remind herself not to fall too deep.
She could no longer distinguish whether these feelings were truly her own or merely emotions imposed by the book.
But in the moment she knocked on the door, an answer seemed to dawn on her.
That uncontrollable attraction, it felt as though she was inherently destined to be drawn to her.
Chi Shuang’s voice soon came from inside: “Come in.”
Jiang Qi’s tone remained cool and detached as she lowered her eyes and asked, “It’s Jiang Qi. May I come in?”
After a brief pause, the doorknob turned from the inside. The overwhelming scent of an Omega’s pheromones hit her like a wave, making her dizzy.
She shoved the medicine into Chi Shuang’s arms and closed the door behind her.
Every Omega was different during their heat, and Chi Shuang was no exception.
After opening the door and being handed a pile of medicine, she blinked slowly, a bit dazed.
Jiang Qi leaned against the wall beside Chi Shuang’s door.
The sudden burst of intense activity followed by abrupt relaxation left her feeling weak. Combined with the lingering effects of Chi Shuang’s pheromones, she was in a rather sorry state.
But as an S-class Alpha, her self-control allowed her to suppress the restlessness stirring within her.
Just as she managed to rein in her agitation, Chi Shuang’s door opened again…
The pheromones escaping from the room had faded considerably. Jiang Qi, who had just recovered from her dizziness and inner turmoil, found herself slipping back into that state.
Her gaze drifted uncertainly as she looked at Chi Shuang, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
Her collarbone was so beautiful, her skin so fair. Her nose was perfectly straight, her eyelashes long and delicate. And her lips… they looked so soft, so kissable.
“I…” Chi Shuang bit her lip lightly. “Could you help me apply the suppressant patch? I can’t do it myself.”
Normally she would notice the signs early and take suppressants in advance, but this time the onset was sudden and intense. Since suppressant injections don’t work as quickly as inhibitor patches, after administering the injection she still needed to apply a patch as well.
When Chi Shuang’s voice sounded by her ear, Jiang Qi snapped out of her daze and hurriedly replied, “Okay.”
Hearing the response, Chi Shuang turned around, swept her hair to one side, and exposed her slender, pale neck to Jiang Qi. The scent of chocolate milk grew increasingly potent.
Her eyes were lowered, presenting a picture of complete vulnerability.
Jiang Qi swallowed hard and took the inhibitor patch Chi Shuang handed her. Steeling herself, she closed her eyes and pressed it directly onto the gland.
Once the gland was isolated and stopped releasing pheromones, Jiang Qi let out a sigh of relief.
But Chi Shuang seemed to lose all strength, her knees buckling.
A flicker of concern crossed Jiang Qi’s eyes as she reached out and caught Chi Shuang.
Their two feverish bodies pressed together, leaving Jiang Qi flustered. She wanted to let go but feared Chi Shuang might collapse.
Meanwhile, Chi Shuang seemed intoxicated, wrapping her arms around Jiang Qi’s neck, resting her forehead against Jiang Qi’s chest, her lips slightly parted.
Their summer clothes were thin, and Jiang Qi could even feel the heat of Chi Shuang’s breath against her chest.
Jiang Qi’s mind went blank, and she heard herself ask, “What does your pheromone… smell like?”
It was a question bordering on harassment, one she would never ask if she were sober. But she wasn’t sober now, and neither was the other.
Before she could get an answer, Jiang Qi was pushed against the wall, with Chi Shuang closing in.
Crimson lips met, and their breaths intertwined.
Snap.
The tightly wound string in Jiang Qi’s mind finally broke. Even though the other had initiated it, she still felt as if she were taking advantage. She tried to turn her head away, to refuse the kiss.
Even though she craved it.
The person against her lips had been relatively restrained at first, but sensing her resistance, they cupped the back of her head, leaving her no escape.
It was then Jiang Qi realized that Chi Shuang’s daily workouts weren’t for nothing.
Chi Shuang used one hand to press Jiang Qi down, forcing her to lower her head. The other hand brushed casually over Jiang Qi’s gland.
Damn! Who’s the Alpha here?
Her thoughts were justified, but they didn’t change the fact that she was being pinned against the wall and kissed senseless by Chi Shuang.
By the time Chi Shuang finally released her, Jiang Qi was completely dazed. She leaned against the wall, catching her breath for a long time.
The angel and devil in her heart battled fiercely. In the end, Jiang Qi decided to listen to the little devil this time.
She seized Chi Shuang’s wrist and, just as the other had done to her, pressed her against the wall.
But Chi Shuang lifted her head willingly, and the two shared another deep kiss.
“Baileys.”
Amid the chaos, Jiang Qi heard Chi Shuang’s slightly hoarse voice say.
No wonder.
She had gotten drunk on her own pheromones.
“So…”
The confusion in Chi Shuang’s eyes had already faded, and a sense of foreboding suddenly rose in Jiang Qi’s heart.
“So… let’s just forget what happened earlier. We were just drunk.” Chi Shuang’s smile was as sweet as ever, her delicate dimples utterly captivating.
“Forget?” Jiang Qi repeated numbly, her heaving chest betraying that she hadn’t yet recovered from what had just happened.
Chi Shuang pursed her lips, retracting her smile as she repeated, “We were just drunk. What happened doesn’t count.”
Jiang Qi clenched her fist and wiped the moisture from the corner of her lips with the back of her hand.
Don’t take it seriously…
She smiled bitterly. It was her fault, she should have found a female beta unaffected by pheromones. She knew full well that Omega pheromones affected both parties, yet she still went upstairs.
Seeing Jiang Qi remain silent, Chi Shuang grabbed her arm and asked, “We’re still friends, right?”
