Make Her Heart Flutter - Chapter 30
On a whim, Jiang Qi casually opened Chi Shuang’s Weibo page, which shared the same name as her instant updates.
Seeing Jiang Qi standing motionless by the door alone, Chi Shuang patted her shoulder and asked, “What are you doing?”
Startled, Jiang Qi instinctively covered her phone. “Nothing.”
In truth, it would have been better if she hadn’t tried to hide it, doing so only made it seem more suspicious.
Narrowing her eyes, Chi Shuang looked at Jiang Qi’s expressionless face and stated firmly, “Why are you feeling guilty?”
“I’m not,” Jiang Qi blurted out.
“Yes, you are.”
“No, I’m not.”
Back and forth they went. This kind of playful bickering might have been normal for others, but for Jiang Qi, it was a rare sight.
After watching her for a moment, Chi Shuang suddenly laughed. “Come help me in the kitchen if you’re free.”
Jiang Qi quickly put away her phone and agreed.
Throughout the afternoon, the six of them busily prepared snacks for their evening variety show viewing.
As soon as eight o’clock arrived, they gathered cheerfully on the sofa, facing the projector.
“Hasn’t it started yet?” Jiang Ran stretched lazily. In the two minutes she had been sitting there, she had already finished a duck wing and two duck feet.
Shang Chumu glanced at the pile of bones. “You should tone it down a bit.”
Jiang Ran laughed sheepishly. “Ah, it’s all Sister Chi’s fault for making them so delicious.”
“If you like them, I’ll make more for you tomorrow,” Chi Shuang said with a smile, patting her head.
“Hmph,” Jiang Qi snorted coldly.
“What’s wrong?” Chi Shuang asked.
Jiang Qi kept her eyes fixed ahead, gesturing with her chin toward the screen. “It’s starting.”
Everyone straightened up a little and focused on the screen.
The show began with a lively tune, after which the screen split into six equal sections, each showing one of them boarding a vehicle at the airport.
Then, the section featuring Jiang Ran expanded. The director’s voice could be heard off-screen: “Hello, Ranran, can I call you that?”
As soon as Jiang Ran appeared, the comments flooded the screen: “My girl!” “Our girl looks so pretty today!” “Adorable!”
“Well, you’ve already called me that, so go ahead,” Jiang Ran replied, her hair styled in twin tails and straight bangs. With her sweet appearance and voice, her words didn’t come across as rude but rather endearing.
“Haha, alright,” the director chuckled before asking, “Ranran, what made you choose our show?”
At this question, Jiang Ran visibly brightened. “Of course, it was for my goddess!”
The director grew curious. “Your goddess?”
“It’s Sister Chi Shuang! I adore her,” Jiang Ran gushed, her expression that of an enthusiastic fan.
At that moment, the camera cut to Chi Shuang.
The comments began to multiply rapidly.
[Wifey, I love you!]
[What are you shouting about up there? This is clearly my wife.]
[Ahhhhhhh! Another day stunned by Chi Shuang’s beauty.]
“Aren’t there a bit too many comments?” Jiang Qi frowned, picking up her phone to adjust the projector settings.
“I think so too. It’s affecting the viewing experience. I also want to admire our Xiao Shuang’s breathtaking beauty,” Tang Qiluo said with a grin, winking at Jiang Qi.
Yan Xu nudged him with an elbow. “The real person is sitting right next to you, and you still can’t get enough?”
“Hearing that makes me proud,” Chi Shuang said, her eyes curving into a smile.
As they chatted and laughed, Jiang Qi finished adjusting the settings, and the comments on the screen instantly vanished, leaving only the top two or three rows.
On the screen, Chi Shuang’s face was unnaturally pale. Leaning on her elbows by the open window, she gazed outside, leaving her delicate profile to the camera.
Next were Tang Qiluo and Yan Xu. The questions from the directors were largely similar.
Finally, it was Jiang Qi’s turn.
The moment Jiang Qi appeared on the screen, the barrage at the top of the screen grew denser.
[OMG, this Alpha girl is stunning! Is her beauty on par with Chi Shuang’s?]
[Huh? I don’t recognize this girl, but she’s absolutely gorgeous! (Uncontrollable tears are streaming from the corners of my mouth.)]
[Someone please fill me in! Please! Please! Important things must be said three times!]
[I’m already calling her “sister”!]
[No way, no way, I’m seriously speechless. Why are so many people calling her “hubby”? Get it straight! she’s my hubby, okay?]
[Hahahaha, compared to Ranran, these two Alphas are such a stark contrast, hahahaha.]
Seeing so many people praising her looks and randomly calling her “sister” or “hubby,” Jiang Qi glanced at Chi Shuang in surprise. “Are they… always this enthusiastic?”
Before Chi Shuang could respond, Jiang Ran pointed at the screen. “If they’re going to talk, just talk. If they’re going to praise you, just praise you. Why drag me into it? Do I not have any dignity?”
Chi Shuang smiled. “You’ll get used to it. Both of you will.”
Jiang Ran shot Jiang Qi a resentful look. The show had just started airing, and with only the two of them as Alphas, there would be even more comparisons in the future. She really did need to get used to it.
The variety show continued to play, and the barrage scrolled merrily back and forth.
Shang Chumu muttered, “Huh? Just now, so many people were calling Sister Chi ‘wifey,’ but now no one’s saying it anymore? Have they all been drawn to Sister Jiang, calling her ‘hubby’ instead?”
Hearing this, Jiang Qi glanced at him and then at Chi Shuang, who didn’t seem to notice and was intently watching the screen.
Shang Chumu suddenly felt a chill down his spine. He looked around curiously but found nothing amiss. Scratching his head, he wore a puzzled expression.
The show reached the part where Chi Shuang stumbled around her room, searching for a long time, only to find one pitifully hidden under her pillow.
“Hahahaha, so Sister Chi is the weak link in games!” Jiang Ran laughed, unable to resist slapping her thigh hard.
“Ouch!”
Shang Chumu’s cry of pain rang out. “What are you doing? If you have the guts, slap your own thigh! It doesn’t hurt when it’s not your leg, huh?”
Jiang Ran rubbed her nose. “Sorry, but you’re right, it doesn’t hurt when it’s not my leg.”
The two youngsters started bickering, and Jiang Qi shifted her attention back to the screen.
Everyone was sitting cheerfully around the table, introducing themselves.
The editing by the production team was spot-on. The initial awkwardness of unfamiliarity was cleverly smoothed over, leaving only the funny moments.
Even though they had all experienced these events themselves, watching them again still made everyone laugh.
Amid the laughter and banter, two hours flew by. As usual, Jiang Qi and Chi Shuang let the others leave first while they stayed behind to clean up.
Compared to last time, the two of them were much more familiar with each other now. Chi Shuang had also set aside the hidden hostility in her heart and began treating Jiang Qi impartially.
“I’ve finished tidying the table. Help me wash this towel, please. Use hot water.” Chi Shuang handed over the towel in her hand.
“Okay.” Jiang Qi had just finished washing the plates and began scrubbing the towel carefully with hot water and dish soap.
Having finished tidying up, Chi Shuang leaned against the doorframe and looked at Jiang Qi. “You seem so skilled. I never would have guessed our young lady Jiang is this good at household chores.”
Skilled?
Jiang Qi lowered her head and glanced at the towel. She had almost never done laundry or similar tasks herself, but when there was no one to take care of her during the variety show, she hadn’t felt uncomfortable either.
She smiled. “Guess it’s natural talent.”
