Love Notebook of a Reclusive Beautiful Boy - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Du Yu’s face carried a faint smile. Seeing Jiang Sheng staring at him without speaking, he raised his hand slightly higher; the cake was very close to Jiang Sheng’s mouth.
He said it again, “A-Sheng, eat.”
Only then did Jiang Sheng come back to his senses.
The fire in his belly was strange; seeing him smile, smiling so innocently, for no reason at all, the fire disappeared.
Originally, the moment he saw him, Jiang Sheng had breathed a sigh of relief, but soon he became angry—angry that he ran around, angry that he didn’t listen.
What if he hadn’t found him? He was so worldly-unwise and innocent; what if he had been deceived by someone with ill intentions? What if the scene from ten years ago were to be reenacted?
Jiang Sheng dared not imagine these things.
He wanted to reprimand him, to tell him with a stern face and a heavy tone, “A-Yu, you cannot run around. If there is a next time, I will not care about you anymore.”
The tone was very bad, and the words were harsh, but if he didn’t tell him this in advance, what if there were a next time?
But looking at his face, that clean and simple face, the fire disappeared.
The words he had prepared could no longer be spoken.
He only wanted to give a piece of cake to himself.
Jiang Sheng smiled slightly and said, “Why did A-Yu run here? Why not stay with me?”
Du Yu pointed inside the private room, “Getting cake, for… A-Sheng.”
Jiang Sheng smiled, “Thank you, A-Yu. Why didn’t A-Yu eat it yourself?”
Du Yu looked at him, “Big sister [or older person], A-Yu [is] one.”
“Was only given one?”
Jiang Sheng guessed based on the meaning of his words.
Du Yu nodded.
Jiang Sheng smiled, “Then A-Yu gave it to me?”
Du Yu nodded, “Give [it] to A-Sheng.”
Jiang Sheng stroked his head, knowing in his heart that this child was truly good to him.
He loved eating cake so much, yet he took a piece and wanted to save it for him.
Jiang Sheng smiled, used a fork to get a bit, reached it to Du Yu’s mouth, a kind smile hanging at the corners of his mouth, raised his eyebrow slightly, signaling Du Yu to taste it.
Du Yu parted his mouth, revealing white teeth, smiling innocently and cutely, then stretched his neck slightly and ate a mouthful from Jiang Sheng’s fork.
“Sweet.”
He smiled.
Jiang Sheng also smiled, “Do you like eating it?”
Du Yu nodded.
Seeing him like it so much, Jiang Sheng handed the cake to him, “If A-Yu likes it, eat more.”
Du Yu looked at the cake; he liked it very much, but this was something he had gotten for Jiang Sheng.
He shook his head, his voice soft and glutinous, “Give [it] to A-Sheng, A-Yu don’t want…”
“It’s okay, A-Yu.”
Even though Jiang Sheng spoke to him this way, Du Yu still insisted on not wanting it.
Just as they were speaking, a woman suddenly walked over, looked at Du Yu and smiled, “Is the cake delicious?”
Jiang Sheng turned his head and asked with a smile, “Hello, may I ask if you gave him this cake?”
The woman chuckled, “Mm, is this your younger brother? So cute, he stood in front of my birthday cake for a long time, wanting to eat but not daring to take it.”
Because it was inconvenient to reveal their identities, Jiang Sheng replied politely, “I’m sorry, this child really likes cake. If it disturbed you, I apologize on his behalf.”
“It won’t.” The woman smiled, “It’s just a piece of cake.”
This woman looked very friendly. After finishing, she nodded at Jiang Sheng, “Eat slowly, I have things to do, so I’m leaving.”
Jiang Sheng thanked her. Just as the woman was about to leave, Jiang Sheng suddenly spoke up again, “Wait a moment.”
“What’s the matter?”
Jiang Sheng seemed a bit hesitant, but after thinking, he still said it, “Can you, give me one more piece?”
The woman was stunned for a moment, chuckled, turned her head, and said to a middle-aged man not far behind her, “Uncle Chen, cut a piece of cake from the middle table and bring it over.”
Jiang Sheng nodded slightly at her, “Thank you.”
The woman had thought deeply; she knew that those who could come to Xiao Lang Ting were not poor people, and looking at Du Yu’s clothing and style, he wasn’t from an ordinary family either. It was just a piece of cake; doing a favor, this kind of thing wasn’t a loss.
“You’re welcome. I specially asked a Shao family chef to make this cake; the look and taste are both quite good. I quite like it myself.”
Jiang Sheng was mainly doing it for Du Yu, otherwise, he wouldn’t have made this request.
He smiled, “Tasted it; it’s indeed quite good. Thank you.”
The man called Uncle Chen walked over and handed the cake over, “Miss, the cake.”
The woman smiled and pointed at Jiang Sheng, “Give it to him.”
Jiang Sheng took it, “Thank you.”
After the woman left, Jiang Sheng gave the cake to Du Yu and said gently, “Now there are two, A-Yu can eat too.”
Seeing that Jiang Sheng had one in his hand, Du Yu didn’t push it for Jiang Sheng to eat it himself anymore. He took the cake and ate while following Jiang Sheng back.
Over there, Zhong Huiyin hadn’t received the news that Du Yu had been found yet, apparently still worried, and had called several trusted people to look for him secretly without making a sound.
Du Yanyu had called, saying he would arrive at Xiao Lang Ting soon, which panicked her enough to join the search herself.
Fortunately, just as she reached the staircase, she saw Jiang Sheng bringing Du Yu up.
She breathed a huge sigh of relief.
She loved Du Yanyu, and she knew that besides his Du’s Real Estate company, which he inherited from his father, what Du Yanyu cared about most was this son.
Du Yanyu had already experienced one great pain and could not experience a second.
Her brows relaxed, and she said to Jiang Sheng, “If you hadn’t appeared again, I would have turned Xiao Lang Ting upside down.”
Jiang Sheng led Du Yu over, “Chatted with A-Yu for a while, it delayed time.”
Zhong Huiyin asked, “Where did A-Yu run off to?”
Jiang Sheng said, “Downstairs, eating cake.”
“Hah!” Zhong Huiyin was helpless, “Gave me such a fright.”
She said, looking at Du Yu, “A-Yu, you can’t run around next time, you hear me? If Jiang Sheng couldn’t find you, you’d never see us again.”
Du Yu asked ignorantly, “Never see…”
Zhong Huiyin smiled slightly, knowing that he was different toward Jiang Sheng, so she used Jiang Sheng as a lead, “That’s right, [you] wouldn’t see Jiang Sheng anymore.”
“Never see A-Sheng…”
Du Yu muttered to himself, lowering his head as if falling into deep thought.
Then he raised his head slightly, his voice soft and glutinous but childish, yet his words clearly showed his determination.
“A-Yu, wants to see A-Sheng…”
It was the first time seeing Du Yu like this. He had a soft temperament; everything was fine, and he didn’t have much of a reaction to anything.
It was rare to see him so serious.
Zhong Huiyin laughed, “Then A-Yu cannot run around anymore in the future.”
Du Yu nodded and said obediently, “A-Yu will not run around…”
Seeing him so obedient and well-behaved, Zhong Huiyin liked this child from the bottom of her heart.
She said, turning to Jiang Sheng, “Before, Yanyu told me that A-Yu is the most obedient child. I didn’t quite believe his words before, but now it seems that this child is truly loved by everyone.”
Jiang Sheng smiled kindly, looking at Du Yu’s well-behaved face, “Yes, A-Yu is very likable.”
Just as they were talking happily, Du Yanyu walked over, beaming, “What are you talking about that’s so happy? I heard you laughing from far away.”
Zhong Huiyin turned her head to see Du Yanyu, and laughed again, “Talking about your son. Praising you for being blessed to have such an obedient son.”
Du Yanyu smiled, “Oh? What did A-Yu do?”
Zhong Huiyin naturally couldn’t let him know that Du Yu almost got lost, so she replied, “Didn’t do anything, just feel that Du Yu is very obedient.”
Saying this, she hurriedly changed the topic, went up to flick some lint off his collar, and said, “Is the company business handled?”
Du Yanyu replied, “Mm, how is the banquet going?”
Zhong Huiyin said, “I was just about to tell you. Let’s go over and take a look.”
When they arrived at the venue, the workers had been cleared out by Zhong Huiyin in advance, and there was only her confidant, Sister Liu, inside.
Seeing them walk in, Sister Liu hurriedly went over to hand the designed draft to Zhong Huiyin.
Zhong Huiyin smiled and handed it to Du Yanyu, “This is what I designed myself earlier. Have a look.”
Du Yanyu looked at it. Zhong Huiyin’s design was not bad, considering every aspect, so there weren’t many places to pick at.
“Not bad, but remember about the backstage, don’t let anyone go in. Later, after A-Yu finishes speaking, Jiang Sheng will take him back through the backstage. Those people are all old foxes; say too much and there will be errors.”
After speaking, he said to Jiang Sheng, “Before the opening, also remember, don’t let A-Yu come out.”
Du Yu’s task was only one: he only needed to stand on that platform and appear; that would be enough.
