- Chapter 62 - A Person I Want To Give Happiness To
Of course, since Reus found out the truth, his life had nothing but revenge. That’s why he only barely imagined the kind of world Loelle might live in.
She had a habit of sticking to familiar places, so she probably wouldn’t buy a big mansion. Maybe she’d get a small cozy house and fill it up with lots of cute things that resembled her.
‘She loves books so much, maybe she’ll build a bookshelf along one wall and fill it with all her favorite books.’
When the sun shines in, she’ll sit by the window and read to her heart’s content.
Since she also loves gardens, she’ll probably grow a few plants with love and care. Maybe she’ll even raise edible plants or her favorite flowers in a small flowerbed.
He had just one small wish that she would settle down near the beach.
He hoped she’d fill her entire world with things she loved and spend every day in happiness.
She was someone who got along with everyone, so he worried that some random, worthless guy might come around…
But Loelle was also someone who could be firm when needed. In the end, she would meet someone good — someone like him — and be happy.
Reus looked at Loelle with slightly dazed eyes.
Ah, he had said he wanted to give her everything — and it turned out, what he wanted to give was happiness.
As if ending a long-standing question, Reus finally closed his eyes in peace for the first time in a very long while.
As his consciousness faded, the world he had imagined for Loelle slipped into his dreams.
He watched the image of her happiness and fell deeper into a peaceful sleep, as if under a spell.
It was a harmless night, with no trace of nightmares.
‘So heavy…’
She woke up feeling like something was tightly wrapped around her body. Still half-asleep, she couldn’t shake off the sleepiness pressing down on her eyelids. Then, a tickling feeling slowly spread over her collarbone and shoulder.
‘Ah, that tickles…’
She twisted her body to change position, but she couldn’t move at all. In the end, she forced her heavy eyelids open.
Through blurry eyes, she saw silver hair that looked like moonlight — or rather, hair. It looked just as soft as Reus’s hair, the same one she had touched last night before bed.
Thinking that, her hand naturally reached out to the silver hair in front of her. She stroked it like petting a puppy, and the hair slipped smoothly through her fingers.
Still half-asleep, she had no idea what she was doing and kept on like that for a while.
Then suddenly, a strange feeling made her stop.
‘Wait a minute…’
What was she touching right now?
The hair she had barely caught fell gently from her fingers. She followed it with her eyes and lowered her head.
Reus had his forehead resting on her shoulder and collarbone. One arm was under her neck, and the other wrapped tightly around her waist, hugging her close.
Why was she holding Reus…?
No — was she the one being held?
“Why, why…”
Just then, Reus shifted into a more comfortable position, rubbing his head against her. Because of that, his silvery hair stuck all over her collarbone and neck.
The tickling sensation came all at once, and she hunched her shoulders, but couldn’t move much. Any slight movement made Reus groan and tighten his hold.
‘He doesn’t even seem to be using much strength, so why is it so hard to get away?!’
For now, she tightly shut her eyes and tried to get used to the ticklish feeling.
After a while, the tickling seemed to fade a little. When she had calmed down a bit, she looked at Reus again.
She thought he might have woken up from all the movement, but he still looked like he was dreaming.
‘Is he really asleep…?’
Reus? Really?
She couldn’t believe it and examined his face closely — but he definitely looked deeply asleep.
Just in case, she poked his cheek gently with her finger. Even when she pressed down until a small dimple formed, he didn’t react.
‘So stroking his hair really works?’
Reus said he could sleep once in ten times, but at this rate, it could be ten out of ten.
‘Anyway, I kind of want to move now.’
She felt like she could escape if she twisted just right… but she gave up quickly.
Reus looked so peaceful, with no sign of tiredness or his usual sensitivity.
‘Maybe he’s having a good dream.’
If she’d known this would happen, she would’ve spoken up sooner.
She felt a bit of regret, but seeing Reus sleeping so deeply for the first time since they started living together made her smile.
His face looked so gentle — almost like he did when he was a child.
His face looked especially youthful today, and she couldn’t take her eyes off him. Then she naturally glanced at the clock.
She thought it might be a little past 9 a.m., but to her surprise, it was already well past 11.
Which meant both she and Reus had slept in — a lot.
‘Is it really okay for us to still be like this? He’s been looking busy lately.’
After a moment of thought, she decided to wake him.
“Reus. I think it’s time to wake up.”
But instead of opening his eyes, he frowned slightly and snuggled in even closer.
Their bodies were now pressed so tightly together that there was no room left between them. The tickling feeling that had just stopped came back again around her neck.
“R-Reus… It tickles…”
She tried to push his face away, but he only pressed his forehead harder against her neck. That alone was already too much — and now, his warm breath tickled her collarbone, making it unbearable.
“Ugh, Reus…! It…it tickles…!”
She barely managed to block his forehead with her hand. He stopped moving, and finally, his head dropped away from her.
Soon, Reus slowly lifted his head.
The sunlight poured onto his face, and he squinted, the blue of his eyes disappearing in the glare. She lifted her hand to block the sunlight for him.
Even then, he still couldn’t open his eyes properly — it looked like he was still half-asleep.
‘He must’ve really slept well.’
But how come he doesn’t look the slightest bit messy? He even looked more handsome than usual.
Wait, this isn’t the time to be thinking that.
“Reus. You really have to wake up now.”
When she spoke in a slightly clearer voice, his sleepy blue eyes finally looked at her.
“Reus?”
“It’s already past 11. You have to–”
“Loelle.”
Reus finished her sentence in a slightly hoarse voice.
“I’m sleepy…”
His voice, full of drowsiness, sounded like he was whining.
It felt like one of the real sides of Reus was showing. Maybe when he was half-asleep, all his usual defenses melted away.
Reus blinked slowly, then dropped his head back on her shoulder and murmured in a sleepy voice.
“I want to sleep… more.”
She knew she should wake him up.
‘But I can’t. What should I do?’
He didn’t look like he’d come to his senses even if she did wake him.
‘If it were something urgent, someone would’ve come, right…?’
Yeah. Let’s just… wait a little longer. Since he woke up once, maybe he’ll wake again soon.
Oh well. She relaxed and leaned back against the pillow. When she looked at Reus again, he had already fallen asleep again. Seeing him like that made her sleepy too.
‘I’ll just close my eyes for a bit… I’ll wake him before lunchtime.’
She thought she had just closed her eyes for a moment. But when she opened them again…
“Four o’clock?!”
Did she see it wrong? Or was it four in the morning? She quickly realized she still wasn’t fully awake.
“Reus…! Wake up. It’s already 4 p.m.!”
This time, she could move freely and tried shaking Reus awake. Or at least she thought she could.
‘Why does his body feel like a rock?’
It wasn’t an exaggeration. She was shaking him with all her strength, but his iron-like body didn’t budge.
It felt like she’d never wake him at this rate, so she gave up and tapped his shoulder a little harder. Then finally, his blue eyes appeared.
Unlike earlier, he wasn’t completely lost in sleep — just slightly drowsy now.
“Is it okay to stay like this?”
At her words, Reus turned his head to look at the clock. Maybe he didn’t realize how late it was, because he stared at it for a long while without moving.
Then he dropped his head back onto the bed, as if he’d given up.
He didn’t seem sleepy anymore, but looked relaxed and just blinked slowly.
“Still sleepy?”
“Yes.”
Don’t lie so boldly in such a clear voice.
“Are you not going to get up?”
Reus lifted his eyes and looked at her. His softened expression felt unfamiliar, and it made her nervous.
Then, unexpectedly, he answered — and she let out a small laugh.
“I can’t get up.”
“You can’t?”
Reus answered with just a look.
He was so big, yet seeing him lost in sleep like this made him seem a bit… cute.
‘Cute?’
What am I thinking? That word doesn’t fit Reus at all.
She quickly shook her head to clear her thoughts. Then something lightly touched her cheek. She opened her eyes and saw Reus’s hand.
“Do you have a headache?”
“No… I’m fine.”
His large hand gently cupped her cheek.
“Feels like you have a bit of a fever.”
He mumbled softly, and she instinctively replied,
“That’s probably because you’ve been hugging me this whole time–”
It wasn’t wrong. But somehow, it made her feel really embarrassed.
“S-So… don’t you think it’s a bit hot? Maybe I should open the window. Or pull down the blanket. No, we should get up. It’s almost dinner time, and we can’t stay like this forever.”
“You’re rambling again… Why are you flustered?”
“I-I’m not flustered.”
“You’re getting bolder by the day.”
