Life After Being Claimed by the Disabled Dragon Lady - Chapter 94
Since Annie was already there, and saw that Long Ling’s pub was very busy, she stayed to help out.
“Anyway, I don’t have anything else to do. I’m happy to lend a hand.”
Perhaps for a rich young lady like Annie, it was just a life experience.
Long Ling smiled slightly: “You just need to handle the cash register.”
The cashier job was relatively simple; it didn’t require running around and still allowed her to experience life.
The pub’s business was so good that the cash box in the middle was piled high.
As the boss, Long Ling had to manage everything in the front and back of the house, working non-stop throughout the day.
It was also Annie’s first-time experiencing earning money with her own hands. She had to admit that after a day of busy work like this, her hands were sore just from counting the money.
After closing, the pub was cleaned, and the staff left.
Annie stretched and shared her feelings: “It’s too much work. I originally thought running a pub was a very relaxed thing, but now I feel like it’s really not easy.”
Her well-maintained hands were rubbed by gold coins all day and had become quite grubby.
Long Ling handed her a handkerchief and said with a smile: “Wipe up. You helped me a lot today. I’ll make some delicious dessert for you later.”
Annie said happily, “That’s great! Thank you, Sister Long Ling. But it’s very late now, and I still need to take a carriage back. Can I take it to go?”
Long Ling saw her pleading with her hands clasped and her eyes curved in a smile: “Of course, I can pack it in a food box for you.”
Sister Long Ling’s handkerchief also carried a faint, fresh, and comfortable strawberry scent. Annie wiped her fingers a couple of times and felt a little reluctant to discard it.
Long Ling turned and went to the kitchen to make Annie some Egg Yolk Crisps. This small pastry could be eaten slowly on the way and was easy to eat in one bite.
She made the flaky crust with butter, wrapped it around a lard pastry, rolled it into thin but chewy little discs, and then filled them with a salted duck egg yolk wrapped in red bean paste. Before placing them in the oven, she brushed the top with a layer of golden egg wash and sprinkled them with a layer of freshly harvested sesame seeds.
These Egg Yolk Crisps filled an entire plate. Each one looked round and plump. By the time all the pastries were baked, the sky was completely dark.
Long Ling quickly picked up the Egg Yolk Crisps one by one, wrapped five or six in oil paper, and kept the remaining half. She couldn’t eat the excess and could leave it for the store staff as an employee benefit the next day.
The braised goose prepared for Annie to take away didn’t need to be heated. If it was heated and then kept sealed for too long, it would spoil easily on the road. Long Ling placed the braised goose on the bottom layer, and the Egg Yolk Crisps on the very top.
Annie had long smelled the tantalizing aroma. She was starving after working hard all day, and impatiently took the food box in her hand, opening the lid: “Hehe, Sister Long Ling, can I try one first?”
Long Ling smiled slightly: “Of course you can. It tastes better warm.”
Just as Annie picked up an Egg Yolk Crisp, a sound of footsteps suddenly came from outside the door.
Violet walked in from outside, still dressed in her military uniform. Her eyes were shadowed with displeasure, her lips were cold and stunning, and her aura was very strong.
Long Ling was a little surprised and walked over to Violet: “Violet, why are you here?”
Violet’s gaze coldly swept over Annie, staring at Long Ling, and slightly raised her chin: “To pick you up after work.”
Violet’s eyes were naturally sharp, and she rarely smiled before. Her lips were a dark shade, which always made Long Ling feel that she was difficult to fathom and was afraid of making her angry.
This feeling was especially obvious now. Violet said she was here to pick her up after work, but it actually seemed more like she was here to hold her accountable.
They had agreed earlier that she would return to the Illidari Manor after finishing her work at the pub and that Violet only needed to wait for her at the manor, but she didn’t know why Violet had suddenly come to pick her up after work.
Long Ling touched her nose and explained to Violet: “I sent Annie some compensation earlier, and Annie didn’t accept it, so she brought it back to me. She also helped me work for the whole day, so I prepared a food box for her so she could take some food back and eat it on the way.”
She winked at Annie, signaling for Annie to take the food box and leave first.
Annie was already a little intimidated by Violet. She quietly put the Egg Yolk Crisp back into the food box and closed the lid: “Sister Long Ling, if you have something to attend to, I’ll be leaving now.”
Long Ling waved to Annie: “Bye-bye, be careful on the road.”
After Annie left, Long Ling locked the pub door and took Violet’s arm, finding her body temperature to be chilling: “You’re so cold. Didn’t you say you would wait for me for a few days? Why did you rush over?”
Violet ignored her. Long Ling went to hug her waist again, pulling her into her arms: “Have you eaten? Should I cook dinner for you?”
Violet still maintained a cold expression.
When the great evil dragon is angry, the consequences are severe.
Long Ling reached her hand under Violet’s coat, gently stroked her back, and softly called out: “Violet.”
Violet’s tone was unkind: “You were having a pleasant conversation with another woman, and now you’re hugging and touching me? What for?”
Long Ling coaxed softly: “Annie and I are just friends. Besides, the matter is in the past. She just came to see me occasionally. We haven’t seen each other for several days, and I want to be closer to you.”
She kissed Violet’s lips, wanting to comfort her, but Violet abruptly pushed her away.
Violet scoffed: “Why did you make pastries for Annie to eat?”
Long Ling explained: “She worked in my pub all day today, so I thought I couldn’t let her come for nothing, so I made her some Egg Yolk Crisps.”
Violet stared into her eyes. Long Ling’s eyes were clear, allowing Violet to scrutinize her. Her conscience was clear; there was nothing she couldn’t show Violet.
Violet’s voice was low: “Did you make anything else?”
Long Ling swore: “Of course not. I only like you. I won’t get entangled with other Omegas. We’re just friends.”
Violet’s expression softened slightly, but she still didn’t let Long Ling off the hook. Just accepting compensation was something that could be resolved in a word or two, yet she kept another Omega for dinner. Long Ling’s attentiveness shouldn’t be directed at others, especially that Omega who had almost been engaged to Long Ling.
Violet pinched Long Ling’s jaw, her slender fingertips rubbing her rosy lips: “You better not have, or I won’t let you off lightly.”
Long Ling thought Violet had been coaxed, and quickly promised: “I won’t. Don’t be angry. There are still some Egg Yolk Crisps in the oven. I’ll heat them up for you. Eat some to tide you over.”
Violet had been so angry on the way that she felt full. Who would be like the little Strawberry Dragon, constantly running to the kitchen to figure out what new recipes to cook every day?
However, the scent of the pastries on Long Ling was sweet and fragrant. When Violet thought that Long Ling hadn’t made these pastries specifically for her, but for another Omega, there was an indescribable sense of annoyance in her heart.
Violet didn’t speak. She watched Long Ling go to the back kitchen to get the pastries, and slowly and deliberately took off her black gloves, placing them on the table.
Long Ling refilled the stove with wood and heated the pastries, sprinkling more sesame seeds on top so they would be more fragrant.
Long Ling still had a lot of the flaky crust for the Egg Yolk Crisps, and she could make some more red bean paste. She quickly rolled out the soft lard pastry.
Long Ling temporarily found a piece of wood and used her skillful hands to carve it into a heart shape. She placed the filled bean paste inside the flaky pastry and then pressed it into the mold.
The molded bean pastes pastries looked like little hearts. Long Ling used red fruit and vegetable juice to color the bean paste pastries.
These rose-red heart-shaped bean paste pastries were quickly baked along with the Egg Yolk Crisps.
For dinner, they needed something warm. Long Ling hadn’t decided what to cook yet and needed to ask Violet what she wanted to eat.
Long Ling first brought out the baked Egg Yolk Crisps and bean paste pastries. Violet leaned against the table, her eyelashes lowered. Her exquisite profile looked distant under the light, seemingly still angry.
Long Ling smiled: “They’re warm now, hurry and eat. I also made bean paste pastries just for you.”
She placed the heart-shaped bean paste pastries on the table. Seeing that Violet still didn’t come to eat, she picked up a bean paste pastry and brought it to Violet’s lips: “Let me feed you.”
Violet glanced at Long Ling: “You eat it yourself.”
Long Ling blinked twice, held the bean paste pastry in her mouth, raised her moist, slender arm, and wrapped it around Violet’s neck.
Her eyes sparkled with fragmented starlight under the light, and her lips were rosy. The heart-shaped bean paste pastry was small, and the crust looked crispy, but Long Ling held it well, not dropping a single crumb, and gently nodded toward Violet.
Violet saw the plump dragon tail behind her, quietly peeking out from under her skirt, and wagging several times.
Violet lowered her head slightly and took a bite of the heart-shaped bean paste pastry from Long Ling’s mouth.
The crust crumbled at the first bite, and the sweet bean paste melted between her lips and tongue. Violet saw Long Ling’s curved eyes, which were somewhat endearing, and continued to eat the remaining sweet bean paste.
Long Ling didn’t eat a single bite, obediently serving as a small Dragon-brand bean paste pastry feeding machine.
When Violet finished the last bite of the heart-shaped bean paste pastry, Long Ling let go. However, Violet pushed the last bite of the bean paste pastry to her. Just as Long Ling tasted the sweet bean paste, Violet’s agile tongue slipped into her mouth, stealing all the sweetness.
Long Ling’s eyes were full of confusion. After Violet kissed her, she wiped the corner of her lips with her thumb and said lightly: “Not sweet.”
She had rolled up and eaten all of her bean paste, and she still said it wasn’t sweet?!
Long Ling felt like she had eaten but also hadn’t eaten anything, and her throat couldn’t help but swallow.
She picked up two more bean paste pastries, handed one to Violet, and kept one for herself.
“How can it not be sweet? This delicious and beautiful heart-shaped bean paste pastry is filled with a lot of bean paste. Try one more, it’s very sweet!”
Violet didn’t eat the heart-shaped bean paste pastry and took the one in Long Ling’s hand, placing it back on the plate.
Long Ling watched Violet wipe her slender fingers with a handkerchief. The next second, she was lifted into Violet’s arms.
Violet’s long fingers caressed the back of her head. She was always dominant, and the cold kiss caught Long Ling off guard. Her red lips were bitten by Violet in a punitive manner, making them look even more vivid and tempting, like deep red berries.
Long Ling frowned in pain, and then Violet gripped the dragon tail behind her, giving her no chance to escape.
