- Chapter 5 - How Could There Be Such a Clingy Dragon?
The next day, the morning sun streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling window, dazzling the eyes.
Long Ling woke up. Opening her eyes, she saw a luxurious dome overhead, white walls around her hung with oil paintings in gilded frames, and a soft, white quilt covering her body.
Her sore arms reminded Long Ling of yesterday evening’s exertions, as well as the Evil Dragon Miss’s threat to send her to the ranch to be milked.
Her gaze immediately searched for the figure of the Evil Dragon Miss, finding her in front of the massive, sunlit floor-to-ceiling window.
Violet was sitting in her wheelchair, wearing a linen-colored long dress with a long cashmere knit cardigan draped over it. A thick blanket still covered her legs, and her wavy, black hair cascaded over her shoulders.
The warm sunlight fell upon her, casting a golden glow, but her dark eyelashes were lowered, her red lips slightly pursed, and her jawline looked somewhat harsh.
The surroundings were bathed in sunlight, yet the Evil Dragon Miss seemed to meld with a deep darkness; the sun could never quite warm her.
Logically, having married the Evil Dragon Miss, she should fulfill her wife’s responsibilities and take good care of her.
However, she might have been too tired yesterday and slept so deeply that she didn’t even know when the Evil Dragon Miss woke up.
Did the Evil Dragon Miss get up and dress herself? Sitting in a wheelchair, these things must have been very inconvenient. Long Ling felt a pang of self-reproach, her heart struck with a dull thud.
She quickly pushed aside the quilt, sat up in bed, and greeted the Evil Dragon Miss: “Good morning, Your Grace.”
Violet turned her gaze towards her, her slender fingers pausing. She recalled the little milk dragon’s actions last night, clinging to her dragon tail and refusing to let go.
The pain in her injured dragon tail was significantly relieved after Long Ling massaged it. When she woke up this morning, she didn’t feel the sharp stinging pain as before; instead, there was a comfortable feeling, like soaking in a hot spring.
Her scent glands were still slightly sore; Long Ling had bitten too deeply yesterday, and the tingling sensation from the injection of pheromones lingered for a long time.
The young Alpha didn’t seem to have much experience, only knowing how to use brute force. Under the Alpha’s demand, her dragon tail had some faint sensation.
A slight blush tinged Violet earlobes. She raised her eyes to look at Long Ling and said, “I am going to the Grise Harbor today to handle some government affairs. You stay at the manor. If you need anything, you can tell Butler Marcia.”
The Omega’s tone was too cold and distant, causing Long Ling to unconsciously grip the edge of the quilt: “Will you not be having breakfast with me this morning?”
The little milk dragon’s cheeks were very pink when she woke up, and her ice-blue eyes seemed to be sprinkled with stars. The entire dragon looked like a translucent, pure, crystal-blue gem.
How could there be such a clingy dragon?
She even needed company for breakfast. It seemed she genuinely couldn’t be apart from her for a moment.
Violet slightly raised an eyebrow: “I can have breakfast with you.”
Long Ling had only asked out of courtesy, never expecting the Evil Dragon Miss would actually want to eat breakfast with her.
She quickly got out of bed barefoot: “Great, I will get up right now. Please wait a moment.”
Long Ling’s white nightgown had become wrinkled after wearing it all night, so it was time to change.
When she came from Milton City, she only brought a single reddish-brown leather case containing some of her clothes.
Those clothes were specially custom-made by the best tailor in the city, commissioned by the clan grandmother. They were all fine fabrics Long Ling had never seen in her previous world, smooth, soft to the touch, and very high quality.
The floor beneath the bed was covered in soft sheepskin rugs, so Long Ling didn’t feel cold when she got out of bed. She unzipped her suitcase and picked out a light-blue tiered dress. As she took out the clothes, she suddenly noticed a bulging envelope hidden inside.
Long Ling shook it with her hand, and the envelope produced a sound like metal clinking. Could it be gold coins?
Shiny, sparkling gold coins—just thinking about it made Long Ling’s blood surge with excitement.
She pressed her chest: Stop dreaming. The Arnold family is already bankrupt.
Even if there were gold coins, they would have to be used to pay off debts. How could there be any extra coins left for her?
She was just a poor little dragon with not a single gold coin, now forced to live off her fiancée.
However, the writing on the envelope must be from the clan grandmother. Maybe there were some good things inside, too.
Long Ling glanced at the Evil Dragon Miss sitting in the wheelchair in the distance, then tucked the envelope back into the suitcase. She would take it out to see what was inside after the Evil Dragon Miss left.
Long Ling, holding the pretty dress, softly called out, “Your Grace, I would like to change my clothes. Where is the place to change?”
Long Ling’s ice-blue eyes were clear and innocent. She tilted her head slightly, her thick, curled lashes blinking.
Vierlot glanced at her and pointed out the location of the walk-in closet in the bedroom.
Long Ling dragged her suitcase to the walk-in closet. The closet was very large and spacious. The wardrobes were full of the Evil Dragon Miss’s neatly ironed, brand-new clothing, extravagant and luxurious capes and cloaks, and many kinds of valuable gemstone accessories.
Her dresses were dwarfed by the Evil Dragon Miss’s, but these were already the best the Arnold family could offer. She wore a square, crystal-blue gemstone necklace around her neck, the ‘Heart of Eternity,’ passed down through the Arnold family.
The clan grandmother had instructed her to give this to the Evil Dragon Miss. Long Ling had been too nervous the first time yesterday and forgot to give it to her.
Long Ling’s slender fingers gripped the Heart of Eternity gem, the cool stone chilling her palm.
Although she had had some physical intimacy with the Evil Dragon Miss, she didn’t truly believe the Evil Dragon Miss would be interested in her.
The Evil Dragon Miss’s closet contained countless such gems, each one more magnificent and dazzling than the one in her hand. Even if she gave it to her, it would be neglected and buried in the dust.
However, her cohabitation with the Evil Dragon Miss had just begun. Regardless, she still had to try hard to live peacefully first.
Long Ling quickly changed into her new clothes, washed up, and emerged from the walk-in closet. Vierlot had been waiting for her for a while and was reading a book.
She tip-toed over, but halfway there, she met the gaze of the Evil Dragon Miss.
“I want to be closer to you and help push your wheelchair.”
A pure and harmless smile appeared on Long Ling’s beautiful face.
The little milk dragon’s voice sounded sweet and melodious, almost like she was acting spoiled.
Vierlot looked at Long Ling and thought of two words: fawning and obsequious.
However, she didn’t dislike it.
Vierlot rotated the ruby ring on her finger. The wheelchair beneath her automatically turned and moved towards the door.
“No need. You follow behind me.”
The noble Evil Dragon Miss only left those words.
Long Ling suppressed her racing heart and quickly followed behind the Evil Dragon Miss with small steps.
