Let Me Go, My Childhood Sweetheart [Rebirth] - Chapter 25
After exiting the room, Jin Yi finally let out a breath of relief. Chu Weiran’s figure was truly exceptional; it was far too much stimulation, making it a bit hard for her to handle.
She looked down at herself and couldn’t help but mutter, “We both eat the same rice, so how did Chu Weiran grow so much?”
Though she wasn’t small by any means, compared to Chu Weiran, the difference was substantial.
For some reason, Qu Yin’s phrase “tiny and easy to handle” popped into her head, followed by another variation: “tiny and curvy.” Regardless of the phrase, both seemed to describe the current Chu Weiran perfectly.
God, this is so embarrassing.
The scene just now had been so explosive that Jin Yi completely forgot why she had gone there in the first place until Jiang Qiong’s angry voice erupted from the phone: “Jin Yi! What are you doing to upset Ranran again?!”
“You know she hates it when you call her that, so why are you still doing it?!”
Hearing her mother’s roar finally snapped Jin Yi back to reality. Fortunately, her mother had no idea what the actual situation was and assumed the conflict was just over that nickname, “Da Ran.” If Jiang Qiong knew she had seen Chu Weiran’s naked body, her mother would probably try to drag them both to get a marriage license tomorrow.
Things were fine as they were. Jin Yi offered a symbolic defense: “Auntie was the one who called her Da Ran first.”
“Yuanyuan is Ranran’s mother; who do you think you are? Even I haven’t called her that!”
“You could if you wanted to. Go ahead, call her that.”
Jin Yi said this knowing full well her mother wouldn’t dare. Chu Weiran didn’t even like her own mother calling her that, and she certainly wouldn’t tolerate it from anyone else.
“I’ve ordered the hot pot,” Jiang Qiong said. “Eat well with Ranran later and take good care of her.” She added a final note: “Take care of yourself, too.”
After the distraction from her mother, Jin Yi’s nerves settled significantly. She had been standing by the stairs near Chu Weiran’s room since she ran out. She turned, walked a few steps, and knocked again. This time, she wasn’t going to be so impulsive.
“Have you finished dressing yet?”
“My mom ordered hot pot for you. Come downstairs to eat in a bit.”
Having said her piece, Jin Yi prepared to head downstairs, not waiting to see if Chu Weiran heard her or when she would descend. She was making her escape first!
However, the moment she turned around, Chu Weiran opened the door and called her name.
Jin Yi turned back, covering her eyes. “Are you dressed yet?”
“I’m dressed.”
Hearing this, Jin Yi lowered her hand. But the moment she did, she saw a vast expanse of snowy-white skin. You consider wearing only a bra being ‘dressed’?
Are you serious?
Chu Weiran responded with a look of pure nonchalance, as if saying, “I’m in my own house; I can wear whatever I want.”
“Sister, please stop testing me, okay? This is really… really awkward.”
It wasn’t that Jin Yi had never seen a naked body before. She wouldn’t say it was weekly, but once or twice a month she’d be dragged to the bathhouse by Qu Yin, so she’d seen plenty. But Chu Weiran felt different.
She was incredibly embarrassed. Despite how many times they had touched when they were children, the awkwardness now stemmed from the fact that she had a physical reaction to Chu Weiran’s body.
In this life, she only wanted Chu Weiran’s life to be smooth sailing. She felt that getting involved would only harm Chu Weiran, so she told herself she absolutely could not fall for her!
But in Chu Weiran’s eyes, this only proved her theory. The words “DUPLICITY” were practically stamped on Jin Yi’s forehead. Her face was turning a deep shade of red, yet she refused to admit anything.
Chu Weiran hadn’t intentionally let Jin Yi see her like that earlier, and she wasn’t doing it on purpose now either—she had simply just finished putting on her bra when Jin Yi knocked.
However, accidents often brought pleasant surprises. For instance, right now, while Jin Yi was talking about how awkward she felt, her face was bright red. Her ears were flaming too, though she seemed completely unaware of it.
If she’s this uncoordinated now, what will happen when she helps me bathe…
With that thought, Chu Weiran struck a pose, leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed under her chest. This made her cleavage look even deeper. She smiled playfully and asked a question that made Jin Yi want to flee the house: “If you’re this awkward now, how are you going to help me bathe tonight?”
Thump. Jin Yi finally felt the heat in her face. If this were an anime, steam would be rising from her head. Even her neck felt hot.
“I… well… you…”
Chu Weiran kept her smile, leaning forward as if she hadn’t heard clearly. “What were you saying?”
This was as intentional as it could possibly be. Jin Yi understood exactly what she was doing. Faced with such beauty, Jin Yi retreated. She took a massive step back.
“You… go put some clothes on first!”
Again and again, what is she trying to do?
Seeing how spooked Jin Yi was, Chu Weiran stopped teasing her. She had seven days of vacation, after all; she had plenty of time. Or rather, she had a whole lifetime. She’d missed her chance in the past life, but now that it was right in front of her, she was never letting go.
“Fine, I’ll go get dressed, and then we’ll eat. As for the bath… we’ll talk about that tonight!”
Chu Weiran winked with her “peach blossom” eyes and left Jin Yi with a view of her graceful back. Jin Yi didn’t dare look and quickly helped her shut the door.
Just as she caught her breath, the delivery driver called. Deliveries only went as far as the community gate; the security guards handled the final leg of the trip. The Jin and Chu houses were on the far edge of the complex, so it took about ten minutes to arrive. When the food got there, Chu Weiran still hadn’t come down.
By the time Jin Yi had set everything out, Chu Weiran was still missing. Jiang Qiong’s order was very complete; Jin Yi didn’t have much to prepare other than turning on the burner. The ingredients were indeed all things Chu Weiran liked, but Jin Yi wasn’t picky; she could eat whatever Chu Weiran ate.
Everything was perfect, except for the fact that Chu Weiran was so slow. But Jin Yi didn’t dare go back up, fearing another “accident.”
“Chu Weiran! Come down and eat!!!”
Jin Yi’s shout clearly inherited the spirit of Jiang Qiong. She was certain Chu Weiran heard her perfectly. Two minutes later, Chu Weiran descended. She was wearing a dress that looked like something out of a fairy tale, holding the hem as she stepped down slowly.
“Do you have a date later? Are you going out?” Jin Yi couldn’t think of any other reason why she’d change into such an outfit. Between waking up and now, it had only been a few hours, and Chu Weiran had already changed three times.
“Hmm… Can’t I just stay beautiful at all times?”
“Fine. Let’s eat.”
Chu Weiran was used to being waited on during meals, and Jin Yi was used to looking after her. It wasn’t for any deep reason; it was just that since they were little, she’d seen how well Chu Weiran was cared for, while she herself was always self-reliant.
“Here, your dipping sauce.”
“Thanks, Xiao Yi. Shall I make one for you too?”
Before Jin Yi could say no, Chu Weiran was already mixing it. So, the question was just a notification, not a request for an opinion.
After a satisfying meal, Chu Weiran again tried to take on the cleanup duties, which terrified Jin Yi.
“Little ancestor, please don’t move around like that, okay?”
Chu Weiran had just been burned earlier; if she tried to carry a heavy pot of broth, Jin Yi would genuinely be worried.
“You rest. I’ll apply more medicine for you in a bit.”
Chu Weiran could tell the difference between “not wanting her to work” and “not daring to let her work.” She said a bit stubbornly, “Can I at least take out the trash?”
“Wait a bit. Let me pack it up first.”
“Okay.”
Chu Weiran sat on a chair and waited. It took Jin Yi about ten minutes to clear everything away, and Chu Weiran watched her the entire time. When Jin Yi’s back was turned, Chu Weiran’s gaze was bold and heated.
Xiao Yi’s legs are so long, without a hint of extra fat. Even if her figure isn’t as developed as mine, those legs alone get a lot of points. And she looks so young.
Despite being over twenty, Jin Yi had a vibrant, youthful energy that made her look like a high schooler. Busy as she was, Jin Yi had no idea the person behind her had turned into a total fan-girl. She brushed some stray hair out of her way and kept working.
Jin Yi’s jawline is perfect. I really want to kiss it.
Since she dared to think it, she dared to do it. She crept up beside Jin Yi, stood on her tiptoes, and quickly pecked Jin Yi’s chin.
Jin Yi, who was tying the trash bag, froze. She turned to Chu Weiran and asked in disbelief, “What are you doing?”
“Kissing you. I told you, I like you.” The implication was: Kissing you is normal, don’t make a big deal out of it.
Having been confessed to again, Jin Yi was a bit more composed. “The ‘pretend girlfriend’ thing is fake. Can you please not take it seriously?”
“Being a fake girlfriend is fake, but my liking you is real. Isn’t it obvious?”
Jin Yi had never received such a direct and aggressive confession. Her only romantic experience in her past life had been a “natural progression,” never anything this intense.
“Chu Weiran, I see you as a sister!”
Knowing Jin Yi would say that, Chu Weiran had a counter ready. “Who wants to be your sister? Did you forget we had a ‘betrothal’ arranged as kids?”
“You…”
Jin Yi knew about that, which was exactly why she had wanted to stay away from Chu Weiran in her past life. In this life, she wasn’t staying away, but she only wanted Chu Weiran to be her older sister.
“Senior Weiran, you are just my sister.”
Chu Weiran found the comment both annoying and amusing. She left Jin Yi with a parting shot as she went upstairs.
“Well then, ‘Little Sister Yi,’ help your sister bathe tonight.”
She didn’t believe Jin Yi wouldn’t crack during a bath!
Chu Weiran left without looking back. Jin Yi finished tidying up and took out the trash. She returned to the living room to watch anime.
Chu Weiran stayed upstairs the entire afternoon. When dinner time rolled around, Jin Yi went to call her. Not because she wanted to, but because her mother called again. This was the first time since she grew up that she’d received so many calls from her mom in one day; usually, her mother wasn’t this concerned about her life.
“Can’t you just call Chu Weiran? Stop bothering me.”
“No. What if I disturb Ranran?”
Jin Yi didn’t know that upstairs, Chu Weiran had also received a call from her own mother, reminding her to take care of Jin Yi and eat dinner. She’d also called at noon, but Chu Weiran had her phone on silent.
Chu Weiran didn’t want to go downstairs, so she planned to message Jin Yi. Just as she was about to send it, Jin Yi’s message arrived.
“Salad for dinner?”
Seeing the message, Chu Weiran’s lips curled upward. Jin Yi remembered that she rarely ate heavy carbs in the evening.
“Okay. Help me bathe after we eat.”
