A soft sound escaped Lu Zhao’s nose.
Ji Zhaoxi’s body stiffened. After seeing that Lu Zhao showed no signs of waking up, she quietly let out a sigh of relief and pulled up the thin quilt to cover them.
Tangyuan had habitually wanted to sleep between the two of them, but Ji Zhaoxi stopped him. She blocked his attempt to lie down in the middle and pointed behind her, signaling for him to sleep there instead.
“Meow?” Tangyuan tilted his head and let out a soft cry, not understanding why his usual territory had been occupied.
Ji Zhaoxi made a shushing gesture and nudged herself toward the middle, completely cutting off any possibility of Tangyuan lying down there. Helpless, Tangyuan reluctantly walked to the spot behind Ji Zhaoxi and lay down. Ultimately, as if unable to contain his annoyance, he flicked his fluffy tail across Ji Zhaoxi’s face in a small act of revenge.
Ji Zhaoxi smiled silently, not minding his petty movement. She carefully pulled Lu Zhao into her arms and buried her face in the crook of Lu Zhao’s neck. She tried to press as close as possible; she could only use this “despicable” method while Lu Zhao was asleep.
But so what? She, Ji Zhaoxi, was never claimed to be a perfect gentleman.
Smelling Lu Zhao’s scent, Ji Zhaoxi’s features relaxed, though her breathing grew somewhat heavy. To say she didn’t crave her would be a lie. When the person you love is lying right beside you in your arms, it’s impossible not to have stray thoughts. Every time she got closer to Lu Zhao, Ji Zhaoxi discovered just how strong her desires actually were.
Just before sleepiness took over and she drifted off, Ji Zhaoxi didn’t forget to move her own arm from around Lu Zhao. Instead, she placed Lu Zhao’s hand on her own waist and carefully tucked one of Lu Zhao’s legs between her own, creating the illusion that Lu Zhao was the one hugging her. After finishing these “adjustments,” she squinted and smiled gently, finally falling fast asleep in total satisfaction.
After Ji Zhaoxi placed Lu Zhao’s hand on her waist, perhaps because the scent on Ji Zhaoxi was so pleasant, Lu Zhao subconsciously tightened her arm. Her leg stretched out toward a more comfortable position, and the two pressed even closer together. The feeling of sleeping in an embrace was very comfortable, and the two of them, exhausted from the morning’s work, fell into an even deeper slumber.
Two women and one cat. Outside, cicadas chirped; inside, all was quiet. The image of the two beautiful women sleeping closely together on the bed was as stunning as a painting.
Perhaps because she was too tired or because it was too comfortable, it wasn’t until 3:00 PM that Lu Zhao slowly woke up. She felt so refreshed she almost wanted to sigh in contentment. Before she even opened her eyes, she felt she was in an extremely cozy environment, surrounded by a wonderful fragrance.
Lingering in that feeling, Lu Zhao leaned forward and subconsciously tightened her grip. She pulled a warm, fragrant body tighter into her arms. Her chest was pressed against two softer things—soft, yet bouncy.
Lu Zhao’s face froze. Her relaxed expression turned completely rigid as her brain finally snapped out of its post-sleep haze. With a jolt, she was fully awake.
Lu Zhao opened her eyes to see Ji Zhaoxi’s face right in front of her. Ji Zhaoxi was still sleeping soundly, her cheeks tinged with a post-nap rosy glow so lovely it made one want to take a bite.
But Lu Zhao didn’t dare. Her gaze went blank as she carefully assessed the situation. She realized her hand was resting on Ji Zhaoxi’s waist; through the thin layer of lace, it felt as though she were touching her skin directly.
However, that wasn’t even the worst part. The worst part was that she had her leg hooked between Ji Zhaoxi’s legs! Ji Zhaoxi’s thighs were delicate, and right now, they were tightly clamping Lu Zhao’s leg. Lu Zhao sucked in a breath of cold air.
If Ji Zhaoxi found out about this, would she even survive? Was I molesting her while she slept?!
Lu Zhao was on the verge of a breakdown. Since when did she have such poor sleeping habits? They had slept together before and everything was fine, so why did they roll together this time! But no matter how she looked at it, the current situation looked exactly like she was forcing a hug on her!
Looking at Ji Zhaoxi’s sleeping face, Lu Zhao gingerly removed her hand from Ji Zhaoxi’s waist. But the real trouble was her leg! Clamped as it was, how could she pull it back without waking her up? For a moment, Lu Zhao felt like just giving up and letting it be. But she ultimately dismissed the thought; she still needed this job and didn’t want to offend her boss.
Slowly, she tried to pull her leg out, even reaching down to try and lift one of Ji Zhaoxi’s legs to make it easier. She chanted in her head: Don’t be nervous. But she was so tense her muscles were stiff!
“Mnn—” Ji Zhaoxi’s brow furrowed as if she were being disturbed. Dissatisfied, she buried her head deeper into the pillow and instinctively sought out the most comfortable spot to lean into. The small amount of leg Lu Zhao had managed to extract was instantly clamped back into its original position.
Lu Zhao: “…”
She was nearly scared to death by that sound! She thought Ji Zhaoxi was waking up! But even though she hadn’t woken up, with the way they were positioned, it was really hard for Lu Zhao to leave! With Ji Zhaoxi pressing closer and their legs entangled, Lu Zhao felt her heartbeat becoming abnormal—it was beating so fast it was almost ringing in her ears.
Lu Zhao bit her lip, looking at Ji Zhaoxi’s sleeping face and shivering inwardly. She really had to be thankful she was a professional; otherwise, in this situation, Ji Zhaoxi would be in great danger!
Gritting her teeth, Lu Zhao went to lift Ji Zhaoxi’s leg again. Because of Ji Zhaoxi’s movement earlier, Lu Zhao had pulled her hand back. Now, as she reached down again, her fingertips first brushed against Ji Zhaoxi’s smooth thigh, and she immediately retracted them.
Wrong spot. Her own leg was clamped between Ji Zhaoxi’s thighs, which meant she needed to reach a bit lower. Lu Zhao carefully felt around and finally touched her knee. The skin here was thin and the bone more prominent. Lu Zhao subconsciously traced a light circle on the kneecap, then snapped out of it a second later, cursing herself for being crazy. It’s just a knee, what is there to touch?
Carefully lifting Ji Zhaoxi’s knee, Lu Zhao pulled her own leg out while chanting “Amitabha” in her head. Just as she was about to succeed and pull her leg back completely, the Buddha did not protect her.
The legs that had been clamping her suddenly tightened, catching her lower leg firmly. Simultaneously, someone’s arms wrapped around her waist! Ji Zhaoxi pressed closer, her cheek buried against Lu Zhao’s chest. As if still in a dream, she hugged her and murmured, “Don’t leave me.”
The voice was soft, carrying the clingy weakness of someone not yet awake. Lu Zhao’s brain buzzed, going instantly blank. But the Ji Zhaoxi in her arms seemed extremely insecure, pressing even closer and continuing to mumble to herself.
“Look at me, okay? I like you so much.” “Don’t leave me, don’t…”
Word after word, though the voice was small, Lu Zhao heard them clearly. Does she really like that person that much? Even while asleep, she’s still thinking about her?
Lu Zhao’s lips thinned, and a small flame of irritation flickered in her heart. Why would someone like Ji Zhaoxi make herself so humble over a relationship! If the relationship isn’t working, just drop it, can’t you…
The flame in Lu Zhao’s heart went out with a poof, leaving behind endless bitterness. “Emotions are such a grind, why do you bother!” Lu Zhao cursed softly under her breath, eventually giving up and letting her mind go blank.
Anyway, looking at this posture, it was clearly Ji Zhaoxi who had crawled over to hug her. When she woke up later, Lu Zhao would just say she was the one who insisted on the hug! It had nothing to do with her!
Lu Zhao felt indignant on Ji Zhaoxi’s behalf, feeling it wasn’t worth it for someone like her to be trapped by these feelings. But gradually, Lu Zhao’s expression became strange again. She wanted to clear her mind, but there was one thing constantly distracting her!
Ji Zhaoxi’s face was nestled in her chest. Her breaths hit Lu Zhao’s chest one by one; even through the thin tank top, she could feel that hot breath. Lu Zhao’s expression was complicated. It’s already this hot, and you still insist on hugging? Are you that afraid of someone running away?
Lu Zhao was speechless. But! Right now, the person she was hugging was her, and this behavior was messing with her heart! Lu Zhao had plenty to say about that.
Lu Zhao was angry—why did she have to suffer for someone else’s mistake? She didn’t care if Ji Zhaoxi was sleeping soundly or not; she pushed her away directly, pulled her leg out ruthlessly, and got out of bed with a cold face.
Suddenly pushed away, Ji Zhaoxi’s eyes snapped open, looking at Lu Zhao with apparent confusion. Lu Zhao didn’t say a word. With her back to Ji Zhaoxi, she opened the wardrobe, grabbed a change of clothes, and went into the bathroom.
Slam— The bathroom door was shut forcefully.
Ji Zhaoxi flinched instinctively at the noise. She turned toward the bathroom door, then looked down into Tangyuan’s blue eyes and tapped his nose playfully, feeling quite happy. Then, she raised her hand to lightly touch her lips; just a moment ago, they had briefly brushed against Lu Zhao.
Her throat bobbed slightly. Ji Zhaoxi calculated how long it would take Lu Zhao to come out, reined in her thoughts, and picked up Tangyuan, putting on a dazed, half-asleep expression.
Sure enough, the bathroom door opened soon after. This time, it wasn’t nearly as violent; Lu Zhao stepped out quietly as usual.
When Lu Zhao came out and saw Ji Zhaoxi looking dazed with Tangyuan held in her arms like a soft dumpling, she felt a pang of guilt. Despite her cold and noble looks, Ji Zhaoxi looked so soft and even a bit cute right now.
Lu Zhao immediately regretted it, feeling she had gone too far earlier. Ji Zhaoxi didn’t even know what she had done, so why did Lu Zhao take her anger out on her? Her courage had certainly grown; she actually dared to lose her temper with her boss. Lu Zhao felt she was being spoiled by Ji Zhaoxi; if she carried this temper elsewhere later, she’d surely offend people.
“Not fully awake yet?” Lu Zhao didn’t mention what happened and planned to let the matter go.
“I’m awake,” Ji Zhaoxi said in a low voice, sounding a bit out of it.
Lu Zhao was speechless. You call this awake? She went back to the bathroom, wet Ji Zhaoxi’s towel, and then came over to cover Ji Zhaoxi’s face with it to help her wake up.
Under the towel, the corners of Ji Zhaoxi’s lips curled up slightly, though the curve vanished quickly. Lu Zhao wiped her face, and seeing that she finally looked much more awake, she said, “Get up and change your clothes.”
For a moment, Lu Zhao felt like she had become her “old nanny.”
“My back hurts,” Ji Zhaoxi said seriously, looking up at her.
Lu Zhao, who had already turned around, immediately turned back. Seeing Ji Zhaoxi’s pained frown, she was at a loss for words. But what could she do? Lu Zhao resignedly went back to the bathroom to rinse the towel. When she came out, she said, “Then lie down on the bed. I’ll use the medicated oil to massage it for you.”
Perhaps because of what happened yesterday, Lu Zhao’s waist was also sore today, though thankfully not as bad as yesterday. Ji Zhaoxi quickly rolled over to lie face down.
Lu Zhao’s face turned red again. She stepped forward quickly and pulled the quilt up to cover Ji Zhaoxi’s waist, completely hiding the view she had just seen. When the woman was sitting earlier, she hadn’t noticed much, but once she lay down, the skirt bunched up around her waist and couldn’t cover her thighs at all!
And then Lu Zhao noticed: Ji Zhaoxi was wearing black ones today…
Lu Zhao rubbed her face, feeling overwhelmed. Knowing the color of someone’s underwear for the day is a very weird thing, okay! Lu Zhao’s face was practically a mask of pain.
She took the medicated oil Ji Zhaoxi had used for her last night, then directly lifted the nightgown and spoke earnestly: “Baby, you have to know, there are many good people in this world, but there are also many bad people!” This person trusts me way too much, doesn’t she?!
“Oh,” Ji Zhaoxi replied blandly.
Lu Zhao: “…” Did she even listen to a word I said!
Lu Zhao felt melancholy. Looking down at her lower back, she bit her lip again. Her lower back dimples are really beautiful!
Lu Zhao suddenly felt a bit jealous of the person Ji Zhaoxi liked. Since Ji Zhaoxi liked her so much, did it mean those dimples could be admired by that person to their heart’s content in the future? Lu Zhao’s face darkened for a second.
She rubbed the medicated oil between her palms to heat it up. The first place she touched was one of Ji Zhaoxi’s back dimples. They looked incredibly sexy; Lu Zhao almost couldn’t bring herself to apply any pressure.
Lying there, Ji Zhaoxi felt Lu Zhao’s hands gently caressing her waist. She half-closed her eyes in enjoyment. When she judged enough time had passed, she said, “Don’t you need to use pressure when rubbing medicated oil?”
Lu Zhao snapped out of it. She had actually been mesmerized by Ji Zhaoxi’s back dimples! What a vixen! Lu Zhao felt like she was having a breakdown. Even though she looked like a vixen herself, she wasn’t nearly as seductive as Ji Zhaoxi!
She applied some pressure, and Ji Zhaoxi couldn’t help but let out a groan. It seemed to be a mix of pain and pleasure, and her hands gripped the bedsheets tightly. Tangyuan lay nearby, occasionally flicking his tail across Ji Zhaoxi’s face. It was hard to tell if he was still holding a grudge.
Lu Zhao massaged while observing Ji Zhaoxi’s reaction. Perhaps because the back pain was truly torturous, her expression was unusually rich with emotion. Lu Zhao recalled that when she first met Ji Zhaoxi, she seemed modest in speech but was actually cold and hard to approach. For someone like that to have suitors, Lu Zhao had spent a lot of time trying to figure out her personality.
Perhaps because they had known each other for a long time, she had gradually accepted her and revealed more and more of herself. She was even willing to tell her some secret things.
“Baby, have you really spent all these years being celibate and just liking her?” Lu Zhao asked.
“Mm,” Ji Zhaoxi replied muffledly.
“I didn’t expect you to be so pure-hearted,” Lu Zhao muttered. Someone who was twenty-seven, nearly twenty-eight, had actually only ever liked one person.
Ji Zhaoxi looked back at her and scoffed, “Aren’t you the same?” So pure-hearted that you remain unmoved no matter how others flirt with you.
Lu Zhao: “…”
“I’m not like you,” Lu Zhao muttered quietly. If she were like Ji Zhaoxi, she wouldn’t need to cut off all emotions and wrap herself up. She didn’t have the time; she couldn’t afford such luxuries.
Ji Zhaoxi heard her. She wanted to turn around to look at Lu Zhao, but Lu Zhao held her down. She could only ask, “Do you actually not want to be in a relationship, or are you afraid to be in one?”
The atmosphere suddenly cooled. Lu Zhao’s hands tightened for a moment as she rubbed her back, then she said, “Is there a difference between the two?”
Ji Zhaoxi turned halfway to look at her, her gaze filled with a seriousness that Lu Zhao didn’t dare look at directly. “Of course there is. Don’t tell me that as an actress, you don’t know the meaning of those words.”
Lu Zhao: “…How did we get onto the subject of me being an actress?”
Ji Zhaoxi sneered, “I’m afraid you won’t be able to read the script.”
Lu Zhao curled her lip and forcefully pushed her back down. “Is your back not hurting anymore?”
“…”
Ji Zhaoxi sighed inwardly. It seemed she wouldn’t admit it easily.
For the rest of the time, Lu Zhao seriously massaged Ji Zhaoxi until she was comfortable. Seeing her starting to look drowsy again, Lu Zhao reminded her, “Don’t fall asleep, or you won’t be able to sleep tonight.”
Ji Zhaoxi snapped out of it and said lazily, “That’s perfect, then I can run lines with you tonight.”
“Practice how to seduce you.”
