It Seemed My Fiancé Hated Me, So I Distanced Myself—But for Some Reason, He Complained - Chapter 8
“Clarissa! What is the meaning of this!?”
“Huh?”
Several days had passed since the party when Father unusually came to my room. His face pale, he thrust what appeared to be a letter at me.
“Father, this is…”
“A letter from the royal family. They’re summoning you to the castle. Don’t tell me you were disrespectful to the royalty during the recent party. If you’ve tarnished the Meriam family name, you won’t get away with it.”
Father glared at me with evident hatred as he spoke.
While examining the letter I’d received, I felt confused. I had no memory of doing anything to the royal family.
But if such a letter had arrived, perhaps I had been disrespectful without realizing it.
Just then, my stepmother approached Father from behind the door with a bewildered expression.
“Husband, the royal family has sent for her.”
“What? Hey, Clarissa. Get ready quickly. You’re going to the castle as ordered. Don’t you dare anger the royal family any further.”
With those words, Father handed me over to the royal messenger without giving me any chance to object.
The messenger dressed in knight’s uniform appeared slightly confused seeing Father roughly handing me over.
After helping me into the carriage, the messenger spoke with an apologetic expression.
“Lady Clarissa. My apologies for this sudden intrusion. There’s someone who absolutely insisted on meeting you.”
“Huh…”
Who in the world would want to meet me?
For a moment, anxiety crossed my mind that I might have angered this person, but I sensed no accusatory tone in the messenger’s attitude.
Unable to comprehend the situation, I simply let the carriage carry me along the road to the royal castle.
Upon arriving at the royal castle, I was immediately led to what appeared to be a reception room. When the messenger opened the door, someone immediately came running from the back of the room.
“Miss Clarissa! Wonderful, you came!”
“Eh, you are…”
The moment my eyes met the person emerging from the back of the room, I stood frozen in astonishment.
Shining golden hair and beautiful blue eyes.
Standing there was His Highness Lucas, the first prince of our Rald Kingdom.
