It Seemed My Fiancé Hated Me, So I Distanced Myself—But for Some Reason, He Complained - Chapter 3
After that, Lord Ryan cheerfully made the rounds with me, greeting people at the venue.
Even those who broke into smiles upon seeing Lord Ryan would stiffen their expressions when their gaze turned to me.
Despite this being such a dazzling party, a young lady appearing in a shabby black dress with her eyes hidden by her bangs was beyond inappropriate. It couldn’t be helped that they made such faces.
But if I put my hair up, I would expose my hideously colored eyes, so there was no other choice but to remain like this.
After finishing the round of greetings, several young noble sons came to fetch Lord Ryan. He smiled at them.
After talking with the young lords for a while, Lord Ryan turned to me and said, “Wait here for a bit,” then left with them.
I was left alone in the bustling venue. Having no acquaintances besides Lord Ryan, I could only stand vacantly in front of the wall, gazing at the party.
I waited there for some time, but Lord Ryan showed no sign of returning.
(…I wonder if I could step outside for a moment.)
Standing alone in front of the wall in the lively venue was becoming truly unbearable. There was still no indication Lord Ryan would return soon.
Surely it wouldn’t matter if I stepped outside the venue for a little while.
Thinking this, I quietly slipped out of the party hall.
The moment I stepped outside, the earlier clamor fell away as if it had been a lie. I walked down the cool, quiet corridor. There was no one in the hallway.
“I wish I could just go home,” I murmured aloud without thinking, my resolve weakening.
Lord Ryan would probably have more freedom and a better time participating alone than with a nuisance like me tagging along. There were mountains of young ladies who wanted to dance with him, after all.
It would have been better if my sister Chelsea had accompanied him instead.
I walked on, filled with nothing but these futile thoughts.
Then, I noticed someone crouching in the shadow of a pillar ahead.
They were clearly not in a normal state. Hurrying closer, I saw it was a well-dressed young man with black hair, wearing a tailcoat. The young man was crouched over, groaning in apparent pain.
