It Seemed My Fiancé Hated Me, So I Distanced Myself—But for Some Reason, He Complained - Chapter 12
A few days later, Lord Ryan came to our mansion.
“You’re still as gloomy-looking as ever. Just sitting across from you is enough to make me feel heavy-hearted,” Lord Ryan said with a sigh as he sat opposite me at the table.
“My apologies.”
“Stop with that habit of immediately apologizing too. It’s tiresome,” Lord Ryan said with evident annoyance. Then what exactly should I say?
“…The reason I came today is because we received an invitation from the royal family for a garden party. While I’m reluctant to attend with you, we are engaged, so there’s no helping it. Keep your schedule open.”
“Understood.”
Our house had also received a solemn invitation stamped with the royal seal a few days prior.
The contents were a request to attend a garden party at the royal castle. It was likely the same party His Highness Lucas had mentioned before.
As His Highness Lucas had said, it didn’t appear to be an official event, as Chelsea who hasn’t made her social debut yet had also received an invitation.
“I hear this party aims to facilitate interaction between the princes, princesses, and the sons and daughters of nobles within the kingdom. Miss Chelsea must have received an invitation too, right?”
“Yes. Chelsea was very happy about it.”
“Is that so? Miss Chelsea is, as expected, straightforward and adorable unlike you. If possible, I would have preferred to attend with a young lady like Miss Chelsea.”
Lord Ryan said this with a sigh.
I would have been grateful if that were the case too. But I couldn’t voice such thoughts, so I sealed my emotions away and remained silent.
“Lord Ryan! Is that true? I would love to attend the party with you too!”
At that moment, Chelsea suddenly appeared before the table with light footsteps. Lord Ryan’s eyes widened in surprise.
I could see Chelsea’s maid chasing after her with a flustered expression.
“Miss Chelsea. Why are you here?”
“I got bored during my tutor’s lesson and slipped out! Lord Ryan, is what you said earlier true? That you wished you could attend with me instead?”
“Ah, well. I couldn’t help but imagine how nice it would be to have a lovely young lady like you by my side. But alas, my fiancée is Clarissa, so that’s not possible. What a shame.”
Lord Ryan said this with a dry smile. Chelsea approached right next to Lord Ryan and spoke.
