Chapter 35: An Adorable Angel (Part 5)

Su Zhiyi offered no response, and Gu Xizhou’s tears rolled down incessantly like a crying child clinging to her mother. Kneeling on the ground and clutching Su Zhiyi’s legs, she wailed in a mournful voice: “Waaaaah… Zhiyi, hug me…”

Please, hug me…

Gu Xizhou cried until her vision was a blur of salt and heat, her mouth full of incoherent mumbles, completely unaware of the nonsense she was spouting.

The eyes of everyone in the class were fixed squarely on the two of them; the gazes were so piercing they felt like they might bore a hole through Su Zhiyi’s back.

Su Zhiyi’s entire body went rigid. she felt a surge of scorching breath rising from her legs where Gu Xizhou held her, rushing straight to her head. It made her cheeks flush crimson and her ears burn with heat.

This was a nightmare. What was wrong with Gu Xizhou? Why was she clinging to her and crying like this? Even if their relationship had improved and they were considered friends now, this was far too much of a boundary-cross. There were so many people watching; a private hug might be one thing, but right now…

The usually composed and calm girl tasted the panicked flavor of being at a total loss. With red ears, she had no idea what to do with the person beside her.

Behind her, Yan Qing saw her distress and hurriedly stepped forward to pull at Gu Xizhou. With a face full of embarrassment, she said, “Alright, Xizhou, you’re sick. We’re still in military training. Once it’s over, we’ll let Student Su Zhiyi go visit you, okay?”

The girl caught in the heat of her cycle had lost all reason. The moment Yan Qing’s hand touched her shoulder, Gu Xizhou whipped her head around and snarled fiercely at her: “Don’t touch her!”

Almost simultaneously, a dense, intimidating scent of rosemary erupted from Gu Xizhou, turning into a wave of pressure that slammed into Yan Qing like a mountain landslide.

The pheromone suppression from a fellow Alpha made Yan Qing stumble back a step. She looked down, staring in shock at Gu Xizhou, who was still in Su Zhiyi’s space.

She saw Gu Xizhou stand up abruptly, grab Su Zhiyi, and forcibly pull her into a protective circle. With bloodshot eyes, she directed a terrifying threat at everyone around them: “Get lost!”

In that moment, the little Alpha’s pheromones seemed to materialize into a wild beast, circling her and Su Zhiyi in the center, fiercely and indiscriminately attacking all the surrounding classmates.

The children, born in an era of peace and civilization, had never experienced this kind of primal biological attack. Many were frightened until their limbs felt weak.

However, Su Zhiyi, standing at the very center of the pheromone storm, felt no threat at all. Being pulled into Gu Xizhou’s embrace felt like falling into a soft cloud. Her center of gravity was vanishing, and all her senses were stripped away, leaving only the softness and stability woven by the pheromones.

The Alpha’s pheromones seemed perfectly compatible with hers, flowing around her like a trickling stream, making her tremble slightly in spite of herself. Even without a mark or any other action, Su Zhiyi, nestled in Gu Xizhou’s arms, understood one thing clearly: she was nesting.

Establishing a safety base that belonged exclusively to her.

The Omega doctor who had run over after Gu Xizhou saw the flushed, irrational little Alpha in the center and realized belatedly: “A rut…”

She immediately shouted to the nearest Alpha instructor, “Quickly! Evacuate the surrounding students! No one get close to her!”

“Do not provoke her!”

The experienced instructors reacted quickly, blowing their whistles: “Scatter! Move back!”

Though the students were curious, Gu Xizhou’s pheromones were surging outward so violently that they were forced to flee. Even without the instructors’ reminders, they quickly scattered like startled birds.

A ten-meter radius around Gu Xizhou became a vacant zone. Sensing that no threatening presence remained, Gu Xizhou sat down on the ground, pulling Su Zhiyi with her and tucking her into her lap. She began to cry and shout again: “Waaaaah… Zhiyi… I want a hug… I want a hug…”

Su Zhiyi was nestled in the petite Alpha’s arms, held so tightly she couldn’t move. The Alpha’s embrace behind her was hot as fire, releasing pheromones without restraint. The thick rosemary scent seeped into her skin, even eroding the suppressant patch on the back of her neck and surging toward her heart via her glands.

If it weren’t for the suppressant patch, Su Zhiyi felt she might have gone crazy too. Enduring the abnormal, surging heat in her body, she tried her best to push back against Gu Xizhou: “Gu Xizhou… Gu Xizhou, let me go…”

Gu Xizhou was deaf to her pleas, only holding her firmly and crying out: “Zhiyi… waaaaah… Zhiyi…”

“My mermaid…”

Not far away, the Omega doctor cupped her hands like a megaphone and shouted to Su Zhiyi, “Little student, don’t resist! Soothe her… use your words to soothe her!”

“Her emotions are very fragile right now; she can’t take any stimulation.”

Soothe… how am I supposed to soothe her?! Someone come and help me!

Gu Xizhou’s pheromones were so thick they were practically becoming a physical wind; how could anyone else dare to approach? Furthermore, since Gu Xizhou kept crying like she was in a trance and showed no aggressive reactions other than the pheromones, Su Zhiyi’s fear diminished slightly.

Su Zhiyi calmed herself down and stopped struggling. Instead, she slowed her voice, biting her lip and saying helplessly, “Gu Xizhou… Gu Xizhou, let me go… you’re hurting me.”

As soon as she stopped resisting, the Gu Xizhou who had been clutching her so tightly miraculously loosened her grip. The little Alpha held her loosely, peeking her head over Su Zhiyi’s shoulder with wet eyes. “Does it hurt?”

“Are you going to turn into bubbles?”

The girl’s face was as red as an apple, and her eyes were full of tears; she looked pitiful beyond measure. Despite the threatening situation and the social nightmare of being watched by so many, Su Zhiyi looked at her face and found she couldn’t stay angry.

She couldn’t help but laugh, and for some reason, tears welled in her own eyes. Perhaps influenced by the pheromones, Su Zhiyi reached out and touched Gu Xizhou’s burning face. “No… I won’t turn into bubbles.”

The Omega’s hand felt like cool jade. When it touched her cheek, it smoothed away the scorching heat. Gu Xizhou sniffled and instinctively pressed her face into Su Zhiyi’s palm, her eyes brimming with tears. “Really?”

She was still a minor, and she didn’t possess the same aggressive aura as an adult Alpha.

Su Zhiyi’s heart settled back into her chest. With a glint of tears at the corners of her eyes, she coaxed gently: “Really. I’m not a mermaid.”

Gu Xizhou responded well to the coaxing; her anxiety and panic dissipated slightly. She couldn’t help but lean closer, her face pouting like a steamed bun as she begged through tears: “Then touch me some more. If you touch me, I’ll be good.”

Su Zhiyi followed her wish, stroking her cheek and replying softly, “Okay, then be good.”

Soothed by the touch, Gu Xizhou let go of the hand around Su Zhiyi’s waist and said with a sob, “Then I still want a hug. Hug me, Su Zhiyi.”

Su Zhiyi struggled internally for a moment, but unable to withstand the pleading, she followed the girl’s lead and pulled her into her own embrace. Their positions reversed: the tall girl held the petite Alpha in her arms, one hand around her waist and the other stroking the top of her head, asking softly as if grooming a pet: “Is this okay?”

Gu Xizhou was satisfied. She stopped wailing and, after a few sniffs, lay quietly in Su Zhiyi’s arms, nodding obediently.

The excessive release of pheromones and the high fever soon made Gu Xizhou’s mind cloud over again. Lying in the embrace she craved, with Su Zhiyi rhythmically stroking her hair, she soon became drowsy.

The Alpha’s pheromones began to retract, and those lingering in the air were quickly dispersed by the wind. The breathing of the person in her arms weakened, though the neck resting on her arm remained hot as fire. Holding this bundle of heat, Su Zhiyi carefully stroked her hair, her mind in a chaotic mess.

Her temperature is so high. Burning like this, she’s completely lost her reason.

So that’s why she came to find me?

But why me?

Because she thinks I’m safe?

The young Omega couldn’t understand the little Alpha’s logic at all. Aside from the initial shock, all she had left now was a head full of questions.

At this point, the doctor and several Omega female instructors approached quietly. When they were two meters away, the Gu Xizhou who had been lying in Su Zhiyi’s arms suddenly snapped her eyes open.

Before a new round of pheromones could erupt, the instructors lunged forward and suppressed Gu Xizhou. The doctor, with quick eyes and hands, plunged a vacuum-injected Alpha suppressant into Gu Xizhou’s neck.

“Nng…”

Gu Xizhou’s body went rigid. She stared with wide eyes for a few seconds before her gaze gradually became vacant, and she slumped back into Su Zhiyi’s arms once more.

The doctor breathed a sigh of relief and looked up at Su Zhiyi, who was still holding Gu Xizhou, and couldn’t help but start lecturing: “You kids these days… even though you’re so young…”

She looked at Su Zhiyi’s innocent face and noticed the light, pure scent of cherry pheromones drifting from the underage Omega, causing her to daze for a moment.

Wait… what’s going on?

There was no scent of any Alpha pheromones on her—meaning no marking and no inappropriate behavior of any kind.

It wasn’t an Alpha’s rut?

Could it be…

The doctor looked down at Gu Xizhou, who was now fast asleep in Su Zhiyi’s arms, and a thought flickered in her mind.

Surrounded by a group of instructors, Su Zhiyi felt exceptionally awkward. She pursed her lips, her grip on Gu Xizhou tightening slightly as she couldn’t help but ask, “Doctor, what exactly is the situation with Student Gu Xizhou?”

The doctor snapped out of it and looked up at Su Zhiyi. “Oh… about that…”

“Her situation is quite special. Do you know when she first presented?”

Su Zhiyi shook her head, indicating she didn’t know. After thinking, she added, “But we are about the same age. Her birthday is in November, so I think she presented not long ago.”

When gender-neutral children reach the age of fifteen, they enter the presentation phase. The earlier the age of presentation, the stronger the pheromone intensity.

The doctor understood. She had the Omega instructors lift Gu Xizhou from Su Zhiyi’s arms and reached out to pull Su Zhiyi up. As Su Zhiyi stood, her legs felt numb, and she nearly stumbled.

The doctor steadied her and whispered in her ear, “Did she hurt you just now?”

Su Zhiyi shook her head.

The doctor sighed in relief, gently patting Su Zhiyi’s back and saying softly, “You did very well. You didn’t let her continue to affect the other students.”

“A secondary presentation is a very dangerous thing. That’s why an Alpha will run to a place they feel is safe and find a corner to protect themselves.”

Secondary presentation?

Su Zhiyi turned her head, instinctively looking toward Gu Xizhou as she was carried away by the instructors. Her mind was in a daze: She really thinks I’m safe?

That’s why there were no inappropriate moves, only a request for a hug.

This is… just too strange!
