In A World Full of Silence, My Heart Will Find Its Way To You - Chapter 65
Just then, someone burst into the room. It was Eric, wearing a frock coat. In his large hand, he carried a small first-aid kit.
He stopped sharply at the door and quickly scanned the room, as if surprised by the situation.
“You’re here, young master. The lady just woke up. She even got her lovely voice back. Isn’t that wonderful?”
Jacob, who seemed to have grown close to Eric recently, stood up and gave him a faint smile.
Hearing that Aria had regained her voice, Eric’s eyes briefly lit up.
But for some reason, Aria couldn’t look at him. She kept turning her gaze away.
An awkward silence filled the room. Jacob quickly turned to Aria.
“The young master helped us so much while you were unconscious. With the funeral of the mistress, and with your treatment… Thanks to him, we found the strength to keep going.”
As Jacob smiled gently, the wrinkles around his eyes softened.
Aria lowered her head, trying to hide her teary eyes. She didn’t want to show herself as weak and needy anymore.
“I’ll leave for a moment. I’m sure the two of you have a lot to talk about. Take your time.”
After Jacob quickly stepped out, silence returned between them.
Aria didn’t know what to say, so she just kept looking down.
Eric’s gaze slowly dropped to her ankle, barely visible beneath her dress. Without saying a word, he led her to sit beside him.
He opened the first-aid kit and began treating her ankle.
Aria tried to push him away, but his large hand held her firmly.
“It’s almost healed. Just needs a bit of ointment.”
His voice was firm, and his sharp gaze seemed to pierce right through her. Aria couldn’t resist.
The more she pushed him away, the closer he got, and now he had completely trapped her heart. Like a sweet poison spreading through her. He had taken over everything inside her, yet gave no explanation or reaction.
What should she do with this man? Should she just let time decide what happens?
Aria let out a soft sigh. Eric slowly raised his head and looked into her eyes.
In her eyes appeared a face as beautiful as if sculpted by the gods.
Under his thick eyebrows, his blue eyes looked cold yet gentle. The warmth hidden inside them made her unable to look away.
Then his low voice broke the silence.
“When are you going to speak to me?”
Eric’s eyes grew deeper, and Aria froze.
There was a time when she had wished to say something to him the moment she got her voice back.
“I love you… I’ve come to love you, who entered my heart without permission.”
But when the cold shiver ran through her body, her lips froze again, filled with too many thoughts.
When she looked away in unease, Eric let out a restrained sigh.
“So you have no intention of speaking to me.”
His cold voice lingered in the air, full of clear disappointment.
Aria’s heart sank. What if she lost him like this? She couldn’t imagine life without him.
Eric had become her whole world.
As his complicated gaze fell back on her ankle, Aria spoke up without realizing it.
“That’s not it. It’s just… I don’t know what to say. I don’t know how to begin…”
Even as she spoke, she shut her eyes tightly. She felt so pathetic, rambling like that.
At the sound of her voice, Eric’s expression subtly changed. His blue eyes grew brighter.
“It’s the same voice… The one that used to call my name so clearly.”
“If it’s okay… say it.”
“Say what?”
“My name. I want to hear it from your lips.”
Eric tried to hide his nervousness behind a calm expression.
Caught off guard, Aria’s brown eyes wavered slightly.
Thump, thump. Her heart still beat wildly in front of him.
Aria, frozen in tension, slowly turned her head to him.
“Eric…”
The familiar name slipped from her lips, bringing a rush of emotion. She could barely breathe.
That sweet name she had whispered to herself so many times. As painful memories rushed back, she turned her head, trying to hide her sorrow.
In her mind, she saw Charlotte’s final moments. The way she had looked at Aria with tired eyes. Her rough breathing as she struggled to call her name.
The memory overwhelmed her. She clenched her eyes shut and bit her lip.
The price for getting her voice back… was Charlotte’s life.
The dream of having a family was shattered again. Now, only cold revenge awaited her.
“You must restore the family’s honor with your own hands… even for the sake of the dead…”
Remembering Charlotte’s words, she clenched her fists. She had to suppress her confused and painful feelings.
At that moment, Eric gently turned her chin toward him. He looked at her carefully.
“Don’t be weak. That’s how you make the dead’s sacrifice meaningful.”
“As soon as we return to House Bailey, I’ll ask my father to approve our marriage. Even if he refuses, I’ll go ahead with it. I won’t hide like a coward.”
“B-but…!”
“There’s no reason to delay. I can’t let you disappear from my life again. That would be worse for me.”
Aria froze. She was still just a maid without her status restored.
For someone like her to marry the second son of House Bailey would be a difficult journey. Many would oppose and criticize it.
She worried she might harm Eric’s reputation, and her heart grew heavy.
But Eric, who had come close, gently comforted her frozen body.
“Do as I say. Don’t think about anything else.”
Eric slightly smiled and looked over her with deep, steady eyes.
His gaze followed her trembling eyelashes down to her red lips.
Then his thumb gently brushed her lower lip.
The contrast between his large hand and the soft touch left Aria at a loss. She closed her eyes tightly.
Eric’s blue eyes calmly watched her tense face. Soon, his breath lightly touched her ear.
“I missed you. I longed for you… so badly.”
Whispering softly, Eric leaned down and kissed her lips. The gentle touch parted her lips and invaded deeply.
As their lips tangled, Aria had no time to think. Eric held her jaw and waist tightly.
As if he would never let her go. Bold and dangerous in his own way.
His way of calming her fears and desires that had begun again. Following his breath, Aria let out small, shaky breaths.
Each slow, teasing touch made her flinch. It was dangerous, yet sweet.
Eric’s lips slowly moved down to her neck and began to explore.
Her white skin turned red as if marked by heat.
As if claiming her, he moved without hesitation, and Aria straightened her back without realizing it.
Eric’s tongue moved freely—sensual and skilled. He kept licking and sucking her skin.
Each touch made her skin tingle.
“Haa…”
A strange sound of desire escaped from Aria. Shocked, she bit her lip.
Eric’s gaze slowly rose. His expression showed a slight break, as if enjoying her dazed pain.
“So you can make sounds like that. Not bad to hear.”
Eric chuckled softly. Aria’s cheeks turned red.
“S-stop it.”
Avoiding his gaze, Aria spoke in a trembling voice.
“My mind’s still a mess. Stop doing as you please.”
“As I please?”
“If you keep doing this, I’ll call Jacob. Don’t make things difficult.”
She tried to sound firm, but her voice trembled when she met his blue eyes.
“You’ve gotten bold now that you have your voice back. But it’s not a bad change—to know how to say no.”
Eric smiled slightly, then pulled Aria close before she could get away. Their breaths mingled in the small space between them.
“But do you know? The more you push, the more it excites me.”
He held her tighter, as if he would never let her go.
