- Imprisoned by Forced Love! The Yandere Disciple Tied My Hands and Told Me to Be Good
- Chapter 24 - What Kind of Love-Brain Is This? He's Simply Beyond Saving!
Yue Qi could no longer suppress the rage in his heart. His crimson eyes narrowed slightly as killing intent surged from all directions. “So that is why you wanted to escape me—why you wanted to abandon me once again!”
The system usually didn’t interrupt Mu Chenyuan’s conversations with others, but this time it couldn’t help but chime in: 【Host, are you stupid? He’s already in this state and you’re still provoking him?】
【I’ve just detected the latest plot development: Yu Jinyao, an Integration-stage powerhouse, was insta-killed by him in a single move. Can you, a mere Transformation-stage, please be a bit more of a coward?】
Rival-bro is already offline?
Mu Chenyuan panicked: “Then what should I say? That I love him?”
The system adopted a tone of “hating that iron cannot become steel”: 【Host, there is a reason why you were still just a lowly corporate slave after working all those years.】
Hah, this system’s getting bold, its insults are getting quite personal.
Still, the system was right. Even though his cultivation was restored, he definitely couldn’t beat Yue Qi in a fight. He’d better stop provoking him.
“I didn’t want to escape…”
Before he could finish, Yue Qi interrupted: “Do you think I will ever believe a single word out of your mouth again?”
“Master, I believed you time and time again, yet you lied to me, abandoned me, and harmed me over and over… causing me such pain, driving me to such despair!”
“To you, if I was always just a loathsome fox demon, a lowly creature kept only for the sake of taking my heart, why did you bother raising me from age eight to nineteen?!”
“And why did you break your own natal sword for my sake?!”
Wait, what?
The original owner’s natal sword had been broken before? And it was broken for Yue Qi?
Seeing Yue Qi’s eyes grow redder by the second, the system sent a “high temperature” warning: 【Warning: Male protagonist’s blackening value is skyrocketing! Please soothe him immediately, or there is a high probability of entering a Bad Ending!】
Mu Chenyuan did not want a Bad Ending! He stopped overthinking, gripped his sword tightly, and flew toward Yue Qi.
Yue Qi thought Mu Chenyuan was coming to stab him and immediately used demonic energy to prop up a barrier in front of him. Before the barrier could fully form, Mu Chenyuan shattered it with a single swing of his sword, and the demonic energy instantly scattered like mist.
Taking advantage of the mist obstructing Yue Qi’s vision, Mu Chenyuan suddenly threw his arms wide and hugged him.
In that instant, Yue Qi’s expression transformed. The fierce, angry look vanished; a single proactive embrace from Mu Chenyuan had turned it into utter bewilderment. He widened his eyes, his expression frozen for a long while.
Finally, he slowly lowered his gaze, and the restless demonic energy grew quiet.
After hugging Yue Qi, Mu Chenyuan didn’t say another word. Suddenly, the sound of thunder and lightning erupted in his ears. The cloud-covered night sky had finally reached its limit and awakened from its slumber.
The rain came down in a torrential pour. It was as if the sky had been torn open by a massive gash; black clouds surged forward like a herd of galloping wild horses, instantly shrouding the entire world in darkness.
Thumb-sized raindrops poured down from the depths of the endless dark, forming a dense, thick curtain of water that slammed into the earth like silver chains. The gale howled in response to the storm, creating a sound like crashing waves. Tree branches shook violently in the wind, with broken limbs and stray leaves being swept away from time to time.
Neither of the two men in the rain propped up a waterproof barrier. The downpour was too intense; within seconds, they were both soaked to the bone.
Accompanied by the thunder and heavy rain, Yue Qi withdrew all of his demonic energy. The red in his eyes receded bit by bit from bottom to top, returning to their original mint-green. He slowly buried his head deep into the crook of Mu Chenyuan’s neck, using all his strength to draw the only warmth available within the freezing storm.
He felt the temperature of Mu Chenyuan’s skin and that familiar, soul-soothing scent. Then, he began to sob silently. Though he stubbornly refused to make a sound, his body couldn’t lie. Mu Chenyuan could clearly feel Yue Qi trembling in his arms, like a puppy that had been wronged.
A stream of icy liquid slid from the crook of his neck into his clothes, flowing down toward the position of his heart. It was likely rainwater. Or perhaps…
Mu Chenyuan tightened his arms around Yue Qi and withdrew his natal sword back into his body. It probably wasn’t needed anymore. He knew very well that the current Yue Qi would definitely not lay a hand on him.
Taking advantage of the time provided by the embrace, Mu Chenyuan took a moment to ask the system: “What exactly is the deal with being ‘controlled by demonic energy’?”
【It’s like this, Host: the Spirit Race is called such not just because they must consume spiritual energy to survive, but because their bodies can only come into contact with spiritual energy.】
【Once they are tainted by demonic energy, their skin will rot, their meridians will snap, and even their flesh and bone will be torn into blood-mist by the energy. Let alone allowing demonic energy to circulate within the body—that is no different from being subjected to lingchi (death by a thousand cuts) every single second.】
【In other words, the Spirit Race is naturally unsuited for the demonic path. Before the male protagonist, not a single member of the Spirit Race had successfully cultivated the demonic way; those who tried either committed suicide from the pain or became crazed and senile.】
【Only the male protagonist successfully mastered the demonic path and became the Demon Venerable above all others.】
【Naturally, the price for a Spirit Race member forced to cultivate the demonic path is that his body is being torn apart by demonic energy every moment, requiring him to constantly spend effort to repair his physical form.】
【Fortunately, the male protagonist’s cultivation is high, so repairing it isn’t too difficult.】
【However, if his soul is damaged, the energy he uses to repair his body is automatically diverted to repair his soul. Then, the body cannot be repaired in time; the demonic energy will not only tear his body but also control his consciousness, making him act on instinct and involuntary impulses.】
【From an outsider’s perspective, it looks as though he is being controlled by the demonic energy.】
Demonic energy tearing the body?
Subconsciously, Mu Chenyuan took one of Yue Qi’s arms and lifted the sleeve to look. Yue Qi’s entire arm was covered in blood-red cracks. They were dense and numerous, like the crazing on cracked porcelain.
Mu Chenyuan checked Yue Qi’s other arm. It was exactly the same. There was no need to look elsewhere; he figured the situation was identical across his entire body. Those red cracks were growing larger, beginning to seep with fine threads of blood. Even the heavy rain couldn’t wash away this constant, seeping blood.
Furthermore, Mu Chenyuan was only seeing the surface. He couldn’t see how the blood, bone, and meridians inside Yue Qi were currently being subjected to the torture of a thousand cuts.
Mu Chenyuan simply couldn’t understand: “Doesn’t it hurt? How on earth has he endured this until now!”
【He should have long since grown used to it.】 【After all, he has had to endure this pain every second for a hundred years. If he weren’t used to it, he would have surely died from the pain long ago.】
Fool!!
Mu Chenyuan didn’t know if he was angry or heartbroken! But what right did he have to be heartbroken? He wasn’t the one who caused this situation, and the person Yue Qi loved wasn’t him anyway. All he was left with was anger.
If this were truly just a 2D character, it would be fine. But now, he could truly feel that Yue Qi was a living, breathing person. A piteous man who couldn’t get the love he wanted and would rather endure hellish torture than stop using any means necessary to keep his beloved by his side.
Sensing Mu Chenyuan’s emotional fluctuations, the system reminded him again: 【Host, I warned you: do not fall for the people of this world.】
“I haven’t fallen for anyone, I’m just…”
Just what, Mu Chenyuan couldn’t say.
The Yue Qi in his arms remained motionless. Those fox ears manifested by illusion were rubbing against his cheek soft, furry, alluring, and ticklish. The wronged puppy had now turned into a well-behaved, clingy puppy.
Seeing that his emotions had stabilized, Mu Chenyuan asked softly in his ear, “Does it hurt?”
Yue Qi shook his head. Instead, he used the very demonic energy that was tearing him apart to try and heal the wounds on Mu Chenyuan’s palms and other areas where he had been scratched by thorns.
Mu Chenyuan watched with his own eyes as his wounds gradually shrank and healed. Yet the wounds on Yue Qi’s own body grew larger and more numerous. He was literally sacrificing his own life to help him heal!
“Enough!”
Mu Chenyuan anxiously pressed down on Yue Qi’s hand, shouting at him, “Do you want to die?”
“Your soul is damaged, and your body is being torn by demonic energy and cannot heal why are you bothering with these non-fatal minor injuries of mine!”
“No…” Yue Qi murmured in a low voice: “No, I cannot let Master… be hurt…”
What kind of love-brain is this? He’s simply beyond saving!
Mu Chenyuan truly couldn’t understand. What on earth was he holding onto for a person who clearly didn’t love him? To make himself so wretched, covered in scars what exactly was worth it!
