I'm Not Playing This Vicious Female Supporting Character Anymore! - Chapter 25
Students seated next to Qin Yuzhen during exams generally felt immense pressure from her presence. This pressure was relatively mild during the Chinese exam, but during the math exam, sitting beside Qin Yuzhen became pure torment.
This year’s math exam was notably difficult. Since it was an official test, Qin Yuzhen refrained from using her mental calculator and instead worked through problems on scratch paper. Even so, her speed remained astonishingly fast. Her scratch paper showed minimal calculations; most of the work was done mentally.
Coincidentally, Old Qian, the math teacher, was proctoring the exam. After sitting at the podium for about fifteen minutes, he couldn’t resist walking over to glance at Qin Yuzhen’s test.
Qin Yuzhen worked with remarkable speed. By the time she finished the first page, some students had barely completed the first question.
Old Qian had contributed questions to this exam. Seeing Qin Yuzhen’s rapid progress, he felt a twinge of frustration. He glanced around the room and found some solace in the fact that the other students were progressing at a normal pace.
A nearby classmate glanced at Qin Yuzhen, breaking out in a cold sweat and questioning their own abilities. Even though Qin Yuzhen was being careful to minimize the sound and movement of turning pages, her actions still drew attention—especially since the proctoring teacher was standing nearby, making his presence all too obvious.
During both exams, teachers lingered to observe, curious about who Qin Yuzhen truly was.
Rong Xi glanced at Qin Yuzhen ahead, her back turned. Even from that single silhouette, Rong Xi sensed an aura of calm composure.
Qin Yuzhen herself wasn’t particularly proud of her speed and accuracy in solving problems. After all, she had spent five centuries in the System Space, and if you counted the time in the Small World, it was impossible to calculate how long she had actually lived.
Having experienced the same situations countless times, even someone with the slowest comprehension would eventually excel through sheer repetition. Ji Changyin was a perfect example.
“What does this have to do with Ji Changyin?”
“Isn’t she just plain stupid?”
“Ah…”
“You really should be decommissioned. You’re eavesdropping on my thoughts and even arguing against me.” Qin Yuzhen snorted softly.
System: ……
“Back when we were sabotaged, Ji Changyin was still missing. Even if we go back now, she might still not have returned. She wouldn’t know you were sabotaged, so she wouldn’t mock you,” the System offered in consolation.
Ji Changyin was Qin Yuzhen’s colleague and arch-rival. The two would bicker incessantly upon meeting, though their quarrels remained verbal—no physical altercations had ever occurred. In the System Space, there were even polls and investigations about their relationship.
“If Ji Changyin and Slacker were to fight, who has a higher chance of winning?”
The votes were split evenly, 50/50.
Qin Yuzhen narrowed her eyes, jabbed her pencil into her scratch paper, and wrote even faster, completely ignoring the System’s attempts at consolation.
With over half an hour left after finishing the math exam, Qin Yuzhen yawned, propped her chin in her hand, and glanced at her completed test. She’d planned to sit until the end of class, but eventually collapsed onto her desk.
The onlookers: …
Rong Xi, who was working on the last problem, frowned slightly. She thought she was writing quickly, but Qin Yuzhen had already finished!
When the bell rang to end class, Qin Yuzhen woke up, rubbed her neck, and stretched lazily.
“Did you sleep well?” Old Qian asked, glancing at Qin Yuzhen as he collected the tests.
“Not really. The desk was too hard.”
Old Qian: …
When Qin Yuzhen returned to her seat, Rong Xi was still there.
“What did you get for the last part of the final question?”
“Three answers.”
“Huh? I only managed two.” Rong Xi sighed.
“I didn’t say they were correct.” Qin Yuzhen tossed her pencil case onto the desk.
Rong Xi glanced at Qin Yuzhen’s face. “Your expression doesn’t match your words.”
“Want me to carry you back to your seat?”
“No need. It’s close enough. I can walk.”
“Be careful then.”
“Okay.” Just as Rong Xi was about to leave, several boys rushed into the classroom.
“Come on, Qin Yuzhen, let’s arm wrestle! We just placed bets—if I lose, I’ll treat you to a week of meals!”
Qin Yuzhen was a bit speechless. They remembered this even after the exam?
“Me too! I’ll cover a week’s worth of snacks!”
“Tsk, come on.” Qin Yuzhen didn’t mind.
Rong Xi decided to stay. When Liang Xuzhou returned, he found his seat area packed, and Pei Jingyue’s seat had been taken, though she didn’t mind—she just wanted to watch the spectacle.
Qin Yuzhen casually defeated three boys in a row, each one leaving with a look of bewilderment.
“Holy shit, Old Liang, now I get why you lost.”
“Heh.” Liang Xuzhou chuckled.
“Anyone else?” Qin Yuzhen said with a grin. “My drinks, snacks, and lunch for next week are all covered. Lucky me.”
“Me!”
The class after the exam was a self-study period. When Old Wang entered the classroom, he noticed that most of the boys seemed dejected.
“Math was pretty tough, huh?” Old Wang remarked casually.
Realizing they had also taken a math exam, the boys became even more dispirited.
That day, Qin Yuzhen became the psychological shadow in the hearts of all the boys in the class.
When they went down for dinner that evening, Old Wang had originally intended to have the boys carry Rong Xi downstairs. But then he saw Qin Yuzhen had already instinctively walked over to Rong Xi and picked her up.
The boys: ……
A large number of students were descending the stairs for dinner, and Qin Yuzhen carrying Rong Xi became a notable sight.
Rong Xi clung to Qin Yuzhen’s neck. Normally, she wouldn’t feel embarrassed even when people stared at her, but now…
The boys who witnessed Qin Yuzhen carrying Rong Xi down three flights of stairs: ……
Gu Si paused when she saw Qin Yuzhen and Rong Xi. Qin Yuzhen carefully placed Rong Xi into her wheelchair.
“Are you alright, Rong Xi?” Gu Si asked, leaning closer.
“I’m fine, just can’t walk for a while,” Rong Xi replied with a smile.
Qin Yuzhen pushed Rong Xi to the cafeteria, where someone had already gotten their food ready. Gu Si also got her meal and sat down next to them.
“Where’s your hairpin?” Gu Si asked casually.
Rong Xi froze, her hand pausing mid-air as she touched her hair.
“I…” Rong Xi felt her heart flutter as she glanced at Qin Yuzhen. She had only worn it for a few days, and now it was gone. It must have fallen off when she tripped. With so many people on the stairs, it was either picked up by someone or trampled beyond repair.
Pearls and jade leaf pendants were delicate things.
“As long as your leg’s still there,” Qin Yuzhen said.
Rong Xi pursed her lips, her mood still low.
“Should I go buy you another one just like it?” Qin Yuzhen asked.
“It’s not the same…” Rong Xi poked at her food.
“Just eat your meal.”
Rong Xi took a deep breath, her eyes reddening slightly.
Qin Yuzhen: …
“If you don’t eat, I’ll get angry. You’ll have to climb back up to the third floor yourself later.”
Rong Xi lowered her head and silently began eating.
“System, search for it.”
“Tsk,” the System said.
The System scanned the entire school: “It’s still in the International Class building, but the leaf pendant is already shattered.”
“Understood,” Qin Yuzhen replied.
After dropping Rong Xi off at her classroom, Qin Yuzhen left again.
This was her first time visiting the International Class building. Apart from the three grades’ International Classes, it housed only activity rooms.
Guided by the System’s prompt, Qin Yuzhen found the fallen item. As she descended the stairs with it, she met Ye Yunshen coming up. Their eyes locked briefly.
“What are you doing here?”
“What does it matter to you?” Qin Yuzhen asked, puzzled.
Ye Yunshen stared at her with cold eyes as she walked past him down the stairs, not sparing him a single glance.
There might be something wrong with this Male Protagonist’s head.
By the time Qin Yuzhen returned to her class, evening study had already begun. The English teacher, who always showed special leniency toward well-behaved, high-achieving students, didn’t say a word about her tardiness.
The System noted that Qin Yuzhen’s self-awareness seemed somewhat lacking.
Rong Xi glanced at her with mild curiosity.
When class ended, Rong Xi received a small bag tossed over by Qin Yuzhen. She paused, surprised by the contents.
Qin Yuzhen watched as Rong Xi jumped up again.
“Weren’t you so concerned about your image?”
“You went looking for it?” Rong Xi asked, her expression shocked. She never expected Qin Yuzhen to do something like this.
Qin Yuzhen rested her chin in her hand. “Buying a new one would be too expensive. I didn’t want to.”
Rong Xi wasn’t angry. Finding a lost item was far harder than buying a new one.
“Thank you. I promise I won’t lose it again.”
“Go back. Aren’t you tired of standing here?”
“I’m okay,” Rong Xi replied.
“She’s not concerned about you; she just finds you annoying,” Liang Xuzhou murmured from the side.
Rong Xi: ……
Rong Xi glanced at Qin Yuzhen. Though she didn’t want to admit it, Qin Yuzhen might actually have meant what she said.
Their eyes met, and Rong Xi silently jumped back.
Qin Yuzhen looked at Liang Xuzhou. “You really do understand me. A true soulmate.”
“Not at all,” Liang Xuzhou replied modestly.
Qin Yuzhen snorted softly.
That evening, when Qin Yuzhen and Rong Xi returned home, Mother Rong was there.
“How did you manage to fall down the stairs?” Mother Rong asked Rong Xi.
“There were too many people on the stairs,” Rong Xi said. “I might not have been standing steady.”
“Did you check the surveillance?” Qin Yuzhen asked.
Rong Xi glanced at Qin Yuzhen. “There’s no need to go to that much trouble.”
“What if it was deliberate?” Qin Yuzhen turned to Mother Rong. “We should at least take a look.”
“Hmm,” Mother Rong nodded. “There was that creep stalking you before. What if it’s someone again…”
After Rong Xi and Qin Yuzhen finished bathing and came downstairs, the surveillance footage had already been obtained.
The three of them sat on the sofa and watched the footage.
After the exam, the hallway was crowded. Rong Xi, carrying her books, leaned against the wall as she descended the stairs.
Halfway down, she suddenly pitched backward and fell. She plummeted through the narrow gap between the crowd and the wall.
