I Wish To Never Leave Your Side - Chapter 7
Qiu Yan only met Mo Lishen’s gaze for a moment before turning her head away. “What flavor would you like? I have…”
“Anything is fine.” Mo Lishen’s voice was slightly hoarse, and it was clear she seemed exhausted.
Without further ado, Qiu Yan returned to the kitchen and, from among the many spicy flavors, picked one that was relatively mild. She tore open the packaging and carefully squeezed out the seasoning.
Soon, the aroma of instant noodles filled the room, and Mo Lishen, smelling it, realized she was actually a little hungry.
Qiu Yan gently placed the noodles in front of Mo Lishen and softly reminded her, “Be careful, it’s hot.”
Mo Lishen didn’t move, still propping her elbow on the table as she glanced down at the noodles.
Qiu Yan understood what she meant. She picked up the noodles, took a bite first, and then handed them back to Mo Lishen, still speaking gently, “There’s no poison.”
Only then did Mo Lishen react. She took the noodles and began twirling them with the fork.
Just as Mo Lishen was about to take a bite, Qiu Yan suddenly remembered something and reached out to stop her, her tone slightly anxious, “Maybe I should get you a different fork.”
That was the fork she had just used.
Mo Lishen looked at her, then calmly put the fork into her mouth and ate the noodles from it.
Qiu Yan’s ears grew slightly warm, but then she remembered that Mo Lishen’s relationships with her past lovers probably went beyond sharing a fork.
At this thought, Qiu Yan lowered her gaze.
Mo Lishen had a small appetite and was full after eating only half.
She glanced at Qiu Yan’s bowl of noodles, which had already gone soft, and a mischievous smile tugged at the corners of her lips.
“I’m done. You can have the rest,” Mo Lishen pushed the noodles toward Qiu Yan, her eyes fixed on Qiu Yan’s reaction.
Qiu Yan was indeed still hungry. She took the noodles without any change in expression and began eating with the fork Mo Lishen had used, seemingly even more relishing the meal.
How boring. Mo Lishen’s teasing mood vanished completely. She grumbled to herself and was the first to get up and move to the sofa.
Once Mo Lishen left the table, Qiu Yan ate even faster.
Each time she brought the fork to her mouth, Qiu Yan seemed to deliberately let her lips brush against it. She wondered why she didn’t mind Mo Lishen, but secretly doing this gave her an indescribable sense of pleasure.
Qiu Yan was focused on eating and didn’t notice the person on the sofa watching her movements.
Mo Lishen’s face showed a rare expression of discomfort.
No one had ever eaten her leftovers before, not even her past lovers. Mo Lishen had never shared a meal with any of them.
She had only wanted to see Qiu Yan’s awkward expression of reluctance and difficulty refusing, but instead, Qiu Yan seemed to enjoy it.
By the time Qiu Yan finished cleaning up, washed her hands, and returned to the sofa, the flush on Mo Lishen’s face still hadn’t faded.
In truth, Mo Lishen didn’t have a high alcohol tolerance, but she always knew her limits and stopped after just a few sips.
Today, however, was an exception.
As Qiu Yan approached, Mo Lishen pulled her into her arms as usual, resting her chin on Qiu Yan’s forehead.
Perhaps because she had drunk a bit too much, Mo Lishen became more fidgety, pinching Qiu Yan’s ears one moment and tugging at her hair the next.
Qiu Yan suddenly felt as if she were taking care of Yuanyuan all over again.
“I’m free tomorrow afternoon. Would you like to go to the amusement park?” Mo Lishen spoke with her eyes closed, her warm breath brushing against Qiu Yan’s ear, making her feel slightly ticklish. Qiu Yan instinctively nestled deeper into her embrace.
Mo Lishen tightened her hold, not giving Qiu Yan time to respond before continuing, “What movie would you like to watch? I’ll take you tonight.”
Qiu Yan let out a soft “Mm” and gradually relaxed in Mo Lishen’s arms.
The minute hand slowly swept across the clock face as the two figures intertwined, squeezed together on the sofa. Neither spoke another word.
Leaning against Mo Lishen, Qiu Yan stared blankly at a fixed point.
Her mind still echoed with that question she had long dismissed as useless: Does Mo Lishen treat all her lovers this way, or am I special?
As she pondered, Qiu Yan noticed Mo Lishen’s breathing had become even.
She dared not make any unnecessary movements and continued sorting through her thoughts.
On their first night together, Mo Lishen had hit her. But after that, her actions toward Qiu Yan always seemed measured.
That day, Qiu Yan had actively thrown herself into Mo Lishen’s arms, asking for three hundred thousand. Mo Lishen hadn’t even asked why and had someone deliver five hundred thousand the very next morning.
By that calculation, Mo Lishen had already given her a million without even touching her.
She must be very busy. Qiu Yan recalled the exhaustion in Mo Lishen’s eyes at night, yet she still took her out for meals, and just now mentioned going to the amusement park and watching a movie…
Amid her thoughts, Qiu Yan couldn’t help but notice how pleasant even Mo Lishen’s sleeping breaths sounded.
A smile touched the girl’s lips as her mind wandered into fanciful daydreams. Leaning against her benefactor, she gradually fell asleep.
She slowly forgot that a benefactor is just a benefactor, between them lay an insurmountable chasm where feelings could never cross.
…
When Qiu Yan opened her eyes again, she found herself lying in the bedroom bed.
Mo Lishen was nowhere to be seen in the room.
Qiu Yan glanced down at her still neatly arranged clothes, a faint warmth spreading through her heart.
After getting up, Qiu Yan first sent a video call to Yuanyuan, reminding her to eat well and take her medicine on time.
Standing in front of the wardrobe, Qiu Yan picked out her outfit for the day.
She had already given up the apartment she previously rented with Yuanyuan, and everything in this wardrobe now constituted her entire wardrobe.
After much deliberation, Qiu Yan felt none of the clothes quite satisfied her.
The thought of buying new clothes crossed her mind but was quickly dismissed.
Yuanyuan hadn’t undergone surgery yet, how could she, as an older sister, indulge in extravagance and frivolous spending?
Qiu Yan harshly criticized herself internally, finally selecting her usual favorite from the wardrobe. She applied light makeup in front of the dressing mirror and took the bus to the film set.
There were indeed roles for extras on set today, but Qiu Yan didn’t take any.
She didn’t want to ruin her makeup.
Around lunchtime, Bai Hua sent Qiu Yan a text, asking her to share her location.
Half an hour later, another message from Bai Hua arrived, instructing Qiu Yan to meet at their usual spot to get in the car.
The closer Qiu Yan got to Mo Lishen’s car, the faster her heart raced.
Would Mo Lishen be wearing a suit today, or a trench coat? Actually, Mo Lishen looked particularly good in bright-colored clothes, that scarf last time had made her appear so gentle.
Filled with anticipation, Qiu Yan pulled open the car door, only to find the back seat empty.
Bai Hua spoke up promptly, “President Mo is still in a meeting. She asked me to pick you up and bring you to the company first.”
Qiu Yan quickly suppressed her faint disappointment, nodded politely, and got into the car.
The car came to a smooth stop in front of the company building. Qiu Yan looked up at the office tower, its glass exterior reflecting the sunlight, dazzling and imposing.
She lowered her head slightly, the shameful memories of being a “caged canary” resurfacing in her mind.
When living in desperate circumstances, one is more likely to be fearless. But once the situation eases, idle thoughts and emotions emerge, making one timid again.
“Miss Qiu, you can wait in the car,” Bai Hua said before opening the door and stepping out. As she passed the entrance, the security guard nodded to her.
Qiu Yan rested her elbow on the car window, watching the bustling crowd.
Before long, she finally spotted the familiar figure. Mo Lishen wasn’t wearing a suit today but a thin charcoal-gray shirt under a black leather jacket. Her legs, already long, looked even more slender and well-proportioned in this outfit.
Mo Lishen was followed by Bai Hua and another man, who held a blue folder and seemed to be reporting something to her.
Mo Lishen’s brows were slightly furrowed as she walked out, occasionally interjecting a comment.
When the group reached the car, the man closed the folder, bowed slightly to Mo Lishen, and turned back toward the office building.
Hidden behind the one-way window, Qiu Yan boldly stared at Mo Lishen’s face.
She truly possessed a beauty that could captivate at first glance, something Qiu Yan had known since the first night they met.
But Qiu Yan believed Mo Lishen’s allure lay more in the effortless grace she exuded in every gesture. Many people might impress at first sight, but once the novelty fades, they no longer stand out.
Mo Lishen was different. Her beauty was striking from the start, yet no matter how many times one looked at her, they would always discover something new to admire, something uniquely captivating about her presence.
As Mo Lishen opened the car door, Qiu Yan’s lingering gaze came to an end.
But the anticipation and delight in her eyes hadn’t yet faded, and Mo Lishen caught it all.
Mo Lishen looked at her, a faint smile curling at the corners of her lips as she shifted out of her work mindset.
She settled into the car and reached out a hand. Qiu Yan obediently nestled into her embrace.
“You look beautiful today.” Mo Lishen remarked, her eyes sweeping over Qiu Yan.
A blush spread across Qiu Yan’s cheeks, reaching the tips of her ears. She lowered her head without a word.
Mo Lishen chuckled, took Qiu Yan’s hand, and held it in her palm. “Let’s eat first, then head to the amusement park.”
During the meal, Mo Lishen took care of Qiu Yan as usual. At one point, Qiu Yan seized the opportunity to serve Mo Lishen some dishes with the serving chopsticks. To her surprise, Mo Lishen glanced at the food and ate it without hesitation.
As if discovering a new world, Qiu Yan wanted to continue serving her but held back, afraid of overstepping and angering her.
Mo Lishen glanced at her, then tilted her chin slightly toward another dish on the table.
Qiu Yan paused for a moment before understanding. She picked up the serving chopsticks and offered her the food.
Mo Lishen ate it again.
A sense of satisfaction bloomed in Qiu Yan’s heart, not because she was used to taking care of others, but because today, the recipient was Mo Lishen.
After a few bites, Mo Lishen was full and began serving Qiu Yan instead.
By the end of the meal, the two of them were serving each other like a truly intimate couple.
The thought brought a joyful sparkle to Qiu Yan’s eyes, her entire expression radiating happiness.
After the meal, the two took a car to the entrance of the amusement park.
It wasn’t the peak season, so although the crowd wasn’t overwhelming, there were still quite a few people waiting in line.
The laborious task of queuing for tickets naturally fell to Bai Hua, while Mo Lishen took Qiu Yan to browse the nearby merchandise store first.
Qiu Yan had never been to an amusement park before, so she let Mo Lishen lead her along.
Mo Lishen picked out a black-and-pink hair clip with bunny ears and placed it on Qiu Yan’s head.
She led Qiu Yan to a mirror, hugged her from behind, and gazed at her reflection: “You look lovely.”
Qiu Yan, however, was looking at the way their figures intertwined in the mirror. She pursed her lips slightly and smiled with a touch of sweetness.
When they left the merchandise store, Mo Lishen was holding Qiu Yan’s arm. Qiu Yan wore the black-and-pink bunny ear hair clip, a small yellow duck water bottle hung around her neck, a little bear backpack was slung over her shoulder, and she held a soft yellow cotton candy in her hand.
Just then, Bai Hua returned with the tickets. Seeing them like this, a flicker of surprise crossed her eyes, but it vanished almost instantly.
“Ms. Mo, the tickets are ready,” Bai Hua said, handing them over with both hands.
Mo Lishen took the tickets and casually slipped them into the little bear backpack on Qiu Yan’s shoulder.
Qiu Yan lowered her head to zip up the backpack. As she tilted her head, she noticed a few people in suits not far away and couldn’t help but glance at Mo Lishen.
“Just bodyguards, don’t worry,” Mo Lishen reassured her, giving her hand a gentle squeeze before leading her into the amusement park.
