I Wish To Never Leave Your Side - Chapter 25
Qiu Yan nestled into a comfortable position in Mo Lishen’s embrace, her breathing gradually becoming soft and even.
Mo Lishen gazed at Qiu Yan’s face. When they first met, she had thought Qiu Yan resembled Su Peijiu, but slowly, she had almost forgotten that Qiu Yan bore any resemblance to Su Peijiu.
Mo Lishen disliked the feeling of losing control.
But today, she had allowed herself to become passive.
Mo Lishen reached out to turn off the light, using the moonlight from outside the window to carefully trace the contours of the girl before her.
Nothing was more important than avenging herself after gaining control of the Mo family. Anything that stood in her way would be eliminated.
But she didn’t want to harm Qiu Yan.
Mo Lishen let out a heavy sigh, pulling the person in her arms even closer. With her eyes closed, she rehearsed the day she had planned countless times in her mind.
When Qiu Yan woke the next morning, Mo Lishen was no longer in the room.
She rubbed her eyes, as if she had expected this, yet she couldn’t help feeling a pang of disappointment.
After washing up, Qiu Yan opened the bedroom door and saw Mo Lishen and Bai Hua.
Mo Lishen was eating breakfast, while Bai Hua was tidying up the dining table nearby.
Qiu Yan noticed Bai Hua picking up the misshapen cake, about to throw it into the trash. Without even greeting Mo Lishen, she hurried over to stop Bai Hua.
“Sister Bai Hua.”
Qiu Yan quickly approached and took the cake from Bai Hua’s hands.
“Let me handle it.”
Qiu Yan carried the cake to the kitchen counter, wiped away the smeared cream with a clean tissue, and carefully placed it in the refrigerator.
Mo Lishen took a sip of plain congee and said indifferently, “If it’s melted, just throw it away. I’ll have Bai Hua bring you a new one tonight.”
Bai Hua stepped back, not daring to speak. She had never bought a cake for Miss Qiu, it was always Mo Lishen who personally selected them.
“The cake won’t spoil overnight. Let’s not be wasteful,” Qiu Yan said, closing the refrigerator door before returning to the kitchen to wash her hands.
“Come and eat.”
Mo Lishen had returned to her usual aloof demeanor, as if the person who had gently held Qiu Yan the night before were someone else.
But Qiu Yan was no longer so easily intimidated by her. Smiling, she sat down opposite Mo Lishen, picked up the bowl of plain congee, and took a big sip.
As she tilted her head back, a few faint red marks on her neck became visible. Bai Hua accidentally caught sight of them and quickly averted her gaze.
“It’s so delicious. As expected of something personally…” Qiu Yan glanced at Mo Lishen, smiled, and added, “…ordered for delivery.”
When she smiled, a small canine tooth showed, giving her a somewhat playful and adorable look.
“It was Mo Lishen who…” Bai Hua began to explain.
“Bai Hua ordered the delivery. I had no idea,” Mo Lishen said calmly, lowering her head to scoop another spoonful of congee.
Bai Hua pressed her lips together. When she had arrived that morning, she had seen Mo Lishen cooking the congee herself. She didn’t have the same good fortune as Miss Qiu, her only role was to wash the pots.
Qiu Yan took another big sip, her eyelashes curving as she continued to praise, “It’s really delicious.”
“Then have some more,” Mo Lishen said without expression, though the corners of her lips curved upward as she lowered her head to scoop more congee.
“Are you going to film today?” Mo Lishen asked, her smile fading as she tightened her grip on the spoon.
“No, I’m going out to buy some groceries today,” Qiu Yan replied honestly between sips of congee.
“Mm,” Mo Lishen responded, seemingly satisfied.
“Remember to wear a high-collared top when you go out.”
As soon as Mo Lishen finished speaking, Qiu Yan’s face flushed bright red, the heat spreading all the way to the tips of her ears.
When she had come out earlier, she hadn’t known the two of them were outside. She had casually changed into a low-cut nightgown and had long forgotten about it.
In contrast, Mo Lishen beside her was composed and unbothered, calmly eating her congee as if nothing was amiss.
Bai Hua seemed to observe everything with quiet understanding, her demeanor suggesting she knew exactly what was going on.
Qiu Yan, however, held her bowl with her head lowered deeply. Even though nothing had actually happened between them, the atmosphere felt as if they had stayed up all night…
After the meal, Mo Lishen and Bai Hua left for the company, while Qiu Yan cleared the dishes.
She glanced at the pot nearby, warmth spreading in her heart.
She had a habit: after washing the pot, she would always tilt the handle slightly to the left. Back in her rented apartment, the kitchen was right next to the entrance, and she was always afraid that Yuan Yuan, running back and forth, might bump her head. So, she would angle the handle to ensure it didn’t extend beyond the edge of the counter.
But now, the handle was pointing straight out from the counter, and there were still droplets of water inside the pot. She could be sure that the morning congee had been made by Mo Lishen herself.
Since Mo Lishen didn’t want her to know, she decided to pretend she hadn’t noticed.
As Qiu Yan washed the dishes, her heart was filled with thoughts of Mo Lishen, a smile playing at the corners of her lips.
…
Mo Lishen and Bai Hua arrived at the company, and as expected, Zhang Yunjie was waiting downstairs. Mo Lishen didn’t handle it personally but arranged for a few designated people to sign the contract with him and send him on his way.
Standing before the floor-to-ceiling window on the 26th floor, Mo Lishen watched Zhang Yunjie below, clutching a blue folder triumphantly as he got into his car, a mocking smile curling on her lips.
“Arrange lunch with Yu Xiamu.”
“Yes.”
“Is everything prepared?”
“It’s ready.”
Mo Lishen narrowed her eyes, then turned away from the window.
…
Western Restaurant.
“Oh, President Mo has finally learned a thing or two about romance,” Yu Xiamu said, sitting in the private room’s chair. She tossed her hair and glanced approvingly at the candle on the table.
It seemed her approach had been right. By tormenting that little lover, Mo Lishen would no longer keep her around and would finally spare some attention for her.
“Order whatever you like, it’s on me,” Mo Lishen said with a faint smile, handing over the menu.
Yu Xiamu beamed, trying to maintain an air of restraint as she took the menu and selected a few dishes.
“I’m going to order a lot, consider it your apology,” Yu Xiamu said. Though she had designs on Mo Lishen, that didn’t mean she wasn’t still angry with her.
Last time, Mo Lishen had genuinely frightened her. After returning home, Yu Xiamu had tormented several of her own lovers just to suppress her rage.
Now, seeing Mo Lishen unusually gentle and romantic, she quickly forgot her anger.
“Order as much as you want, I’m paying,” Mo Lishen said, her lips curling into a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “Let’s add a glass of green grape juice as well.”
Once the dishes were served, Yu Xiamu cut into her steak while eating avocado salad.
“It’s delicious, you should try some,” Yu Xiamu said, pushing the avocado salad toward Mo Lishen.
Mo Lishen shook her head and took small bites of the steak she had cut herself.
“You mentioned before that you have a few women on hand. I happen to need a lover now, bring them over another day for me to see,” Mo Lishen said casually.
Yu Xiamu smirked proudly. “What, done with your little lover already?”
“The little bird flew away yesterday, but the cage can’t stay empty, can it?”
Yu Xiamu took a sip of her green grape juice and joked, “Why bother with a little lover? How about me, President Mo?”
Mo Lishen looked up at her, her expression blank.
“Hey, just teasing you.” Yu Xiamu winced at the tartness of the grape juice. “Why did you suddenly order this? It’s so sour.”
“I’ve got a few new women on hand. I’ll bring them over for you to see another day, President Mo.”
“Hmm, I’ll return her to you once the little bird is found,” Mo Lishen said calmly.
Yu Xiamu widened her eyes in disbelief. “But who knows how many times she’s been passed around by now? You’d still want her?”
Mo Lishen set down her cutlery and looked up with a cold glare. “How would you know?”
Yu Xiamu flustered and quickly explained, “I was just making a hypothetical point. What if someone else took her and she came back… unclean?”
After hearing this, Mo Lishen picked up her utensils again as if nothing had happened.
Yu Xiamu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“Eat more.” Mo Lishen pushed the avocado salad back in front of Yu Xiamu, urging her.
Yu Xiamu looked slightly embarrassed. “What’s with you today? You’re being so gentle.”
Mo Lishen curved her lips slightly but said nothing.
When Yu Xiamu put down her cutlery and wiped her mouth with a napkin, Mo Lishen took a sip of warm water and asked, “Are you full?”
“Very full,” Yu Xiamu replied with a smile.
“Good.” Mo Lishen’s smile deepened.
She retrieved a gift box the size of a napkin from under the table and placed it in front of Yu Xiamu.
Yu Xiamu was both shocked and delighted, covering her mouth with her hands as she exclaimed excitedly, “You’re…?”
“A little gift for you,” Mo Lishen said with a faint smile.
“Close your eyes. I’ll open it for you,” Mo Lishen said softly.
Yu Xiamu clasped her hands together, slowly closed her eyes, and eagerly anticipated the first gift Mo Lishen had ever given her.
“Alright.”
Yu Xiamu slowly opened her eyes. When she saw what was inside the transparent box, she was so terrified she lost her voice.
Inside the box was a black spider the size of a fist.
Spiders had been Yu Xiamu’s greatest fear since childhood, their eight hairy legs, round abdomens, and clusters of eyes on their heads.
Yu Xiamu scrambled onto her chair, trembling as she pointed at the box, her eyes wide as saucers. She tried to speak, but only choked sounds escaped her throat.
Mo Lishen toyed with the cutlery in her hand, and in an instant, the tip of the knife pierced the box.
A burst of green juice exploded in Yu Xiamu’s pupils.
She collapsed into her chair, her face deathly pale, her eyes vacant, as if her soul had been sucked out.
Though Mo Lishen hadn’t dirtied her hands, she still felt unsettled. She picked up a hot towel and scrubbed her hands vigorously, letting out a cold laugh as she watched Yu Xiamu’s state.
“I hope President Yu learns from this and doesn’t meddle in my affairs again.”
Before leaving, she carefully placed the hot towel over the grape juice. Capillary action slowly drew the green juice into the towel, matching the color that had just burst forth.
Yu Xiamu couldn’t hold back and vomited on the spot.
Even after walking several steps away, the sound of retching from the private room could still be heard.
“I’m sorry, President Mo.” After saying this, Bai Hua covered her mouth and ran to the restroom.
No matter how much training she had undergone, she was still not Mo Lishen. For an ordinary person to endure such a scene until now was already quite impressive.
Mo Lishen raised an eyebrow, then returned to the car first, taking out an alcohol wipe to scrub her hands vigorously.
Although Yu Xiamu could bring her business opportunities, her domineering personality was a liability. Keeping her around any longer might jeopardize her plans.
She glanced at the restaurant, guessing that this President Yu would never want to meddle in her affairs again in this lifetime.
