I Will Fall Madly In Love With - Chapter 1
“If there is a world muddied beyond recognition, would you still love it madly?”
“Is there something you’ve tried your absolute hardest to forget? Yet why is it that even when you’ve forgotten, you still fight with your life to remember it again?”
I never found my light.
I didn’t have a little sunshine companion who stayed by my side from the age of five, I lacked an impressive command of English, and I certainly didn’t have a great figure. I was the type of ordinary person who would vanish the moment I blended into a crowd.
Fortunately, however, Yan Moyi found her light.
Even when the world was murky, even when despair and helplessness closed in, she could still gaze toward the future and catch a glimpse of hope beneath her companion’s sheltering warmth.
Yan Moyi, I hope you can reconcile with those unbearable pasts. As for those visions that could never be realized in the real world, please carry my hopes forward and live a good life.

Main Text Begins
It was an afternoon so tranquil that time itself felt suspended. Not a single breath of stir touched the air, which was saturated with a warm, gentle sunlight.
The hospital room was cloaked in an inescapable, desolate chill. The stark white walls, the frigid hospital bed, and the pungent reek of antiseptic combined to exude an aura of oppressive isolation.
The entire room was so quiet that nothing remained save the occasional, distant ticking of medical equipment, as if all signs of life within these walls had been completely drained away.
“Big Sis~” A sweet voice drifted in from the doorway, as warm as the sunshine outside, injecting a faint glimmer of heat into the atmosphere.
Yet deep within my heart, I remained shrouded by an unyielding, freezing cold. That chill did not stem from the ambient temperature of the room; rather, it originated from an ineffable pain and sorrow buried deep in my soul.
It was like a glacier frozen for ages, impervious to the fiercest external heat.
I hated that car crash; I hated the night that altered the course of my entire life! It was because of that tragic accident that I lost all my memories.
Whenever I closed my eyes in an attempt to recall the past, the entire world seemed shrouded in absolute blackness, denying a single ray of light the chance to pierce through that oppressive dark.
The sensation was suffocating yet completely helpless; I could do nothing but bear the torment of this pain in silence.
Pulling my thoughts back to the hospital room, I propped myself up and gazed at the girl hurrying toward my bed.
She was petite and delicate, appearing to be in her early twenties, clad in an aqua-blue Tang-dynasty-style qixiong ruqun. Her flowing skirt hem was embellished with crystal-clear pearls and fluttering, lightweight ribbons, making her look like a dancing butterfly cute and lively.
Noticing her hair, she wore double-bun ponytails that draped softly against either side of her shoulders, complementing her aqua-blue hair accessories to create a striking visual impression. She looked like a little sprite who had sneaked out of a historical costume drama.
“Big Sis, do you remember me? Auntie said that after you woke up, you couldn’t remember anything from the past.” The girl spoke softly, a trace of sorrow coloring her tone. She gave her lips a slight pout, her tear-filled, watery eyes shimmering with crystal droplets that instantly stirred one’s protective instincts.
I nodded mutely, offering a soft reply: “Yeah, I’m sorry, I really don’t remember.” Then, I quietly stared at the adorable girl before me, feeling an inexplicable sense of familiarity welling up from the depths of my heart. The feeling was both familiar and alien, as though countless invisible threads connected us, yet no matter how hard I racked my brain, I couldn’t recall who she was.
Yet, faced with my blank expression, the girl didn’t grow discouraged. She gripped my hand tightly and said with unwavering resolve: “It’s okay, Big Sis. Don’t say sorry to me. Since you’ve forgotten, I’ll tell you about it bit by bit starting from the very first day we met, I’ll tell you everything, piece by piece!” With that, she lifted her head to meet my gaze, her eyes radiating unshakeable determination.
Looking into her steadfast, sincere eyes, I felt a wave of warmth wash over me. I smiled and replied, “Okay.”
“Big Sis, my name is Xi Yumi. You used to call me ‘Mimi.’ We first met back in kindergarten. The sun was just as lovely that day, and I was sitting on the floor bawling my eyes out. What was I crying about again? I’ve forgotten. Anyway, right when I was crying my hardest, someone shoved a piece of candy right into my mouth.”
“You were wearing a pristine white dress that day, standing in the sunlight like an angel.” She smiled as she sat down beside me, gently clasping my hand, her eyes brimming with warmth and care. “Ever since then, we’ve been best friends.”
I listened in silence, a wave of emotion swelling in my chest. Even though I still couldn’t recall past events, her narration allowed me to sense the profound bond we once shared.
“No matter what happens, I will always stay by your side,” she declared firmly.
I gave a slight nod, my vision blurring with tears. Perhaps in this unfamiliar, bewildering world, she was my most steadfast anchor.
“Thank you, Mimi.” I squeezed her hand, absorbing that warmth and strength.
Her other hand covered ours as well. Gazing at my haggard face, she asked with a heartache-laden tremor in her voice, “Big Sis, does your body hurt all over?”
I shook my head. “I’m fine.”
“How could you be fine? You were covered in—” She trailed off, looking at me with heavy concern as she urged, “You need to rest properly.”
“Yeah, I will,” I forced a smile. “Still, I really want to remember the past as soon as possible.”
“Don’t rush, take it step by step,” she comforted. “As long as we don’t give up, we’ll definitely make it happen. Oh, right, I brought your favorite strawberry cake. Try some!”
She spun around and pulled an exquisite ceramic food box from behind her back. The container resembled a prized work of art, bathed completely in an intoxicating aqua-blue hue that matched her attire perfectly, as though they were born as one piece.
Lifting the lid gently revealed a slice of strawberry cake nestled inside like a dazzling gem, looking remarkably delicate.
I took the cake and nibbled on it in small bites. The sweet flavor melted across my tongue, tasting utterly divine.
I lost myself in the delicious treat, savoring a moment of peace and satisfaction. Meanwhile, the girl before me looked all the more charming and endearing because of this cake, resembling a blossoming spring flower that radiated a heart-warming fragrance.
“Is it good?” she asked, looking at me expectantly.
“Mhm, delicious,” I nodded. “Thank you, Mimi.”
“Hehe, as long as you like it,” Mimi giggled happily. “I’ll bring you good food every day from now on, so you need to get better soon, okay?”
Warmth flooded my chest; the heavy weight in my mind gradually lifted, and the corners of my mouth curved upward on their own. As I looked at her, I suddenly felt that life didn’t seem quite so terrible after all.
Easter Egg
(Behind the scenes of the Jiangcheng Hanfu Festival short film shoot)
“Teacher Xi Yumi, we’re wrapped. The shoot went very smoothly,” the on-site director told Xi Yumi with immense satisfaction.
“Great, thanks director. I’ll head back first, you’ve worked hard,” Xi Yumi replied happily.
“Teacher, our crew is grabbing dinner together tonight,” the director invited.
“No, no, I have matters to attend to.” Grabbing her assistant Mengmeng, Xi Yumi waved her hands and sprinted out of the studio.
“Mengmeng, help me book the earliest high-speed train back to Liaocheng.” Leaving the studio without even changing her costume, Xi Yumi pulled her assistant Mengmeng straight into a vehicle. “Driver, take us to the train station.”
“Mimi-jie, the earliest train is in thirty minutes. We can arrive by 11:00,” assistant Mengmeng said while checking her phone.
“Great, let’s take that one,” Xi Yumi nodded resolutely.
