I Was Taken by the Female Lead After Transmigrating into a Book - Chapter 82
The rain was still pouring outside the window. It would occasionally stop for a bit, but the sound of raindrops falling everywhere between heaven and earth made it hard for people to feel at peace.
Bai Feifei looked out the window with a worried expression. “Will something bad happen if it keeps raining like this?”
“I don’t know,” Huo Wu answered honestly. After all, no one could predict the weather. But after a moment, she said, “The meteorological bureau’s response seems to indicate that it won’t cause too much of an impact.”
Bai Feifei cupped her face and let out a soft hum.
Although the weather wasn’t good, since this heavy rain was happening in the summer, it was hard to say whether it was good or bad compared to the high temperatures.
Bai Feifei walked to the balcony and suddenly noticed the flowerbed below being beaten by the rain. The hydrangeas, looking pitiful, hung their heads low from the rain. The hotel staff was busy setting up tarps to cover the flowerbed.
Bai Feifei cupped her face and said without turning her head, “Ah Wu, is that Queen Rose still alive?”
Just two days ago, she had seen Huo Wu post a picture of the flower on Weibo. There was no way it could have died in two days. But she didn’t want Huo Wu to know that she was always secretly following her. So she was asking a question she already knew the answer to.
Huo Wu didn’t expose her. Bai Feifei had liked the post, but since this had become a habit, Bai Feifei herself couldn’t remember it and naturally didn’t realize that she had already given herself away.
Huo Wu said, “It’s doing very well. According to the standard of ‘very well raised’ based on the care guide you gave me, its roots are well-developed, its leaves are full, and the color is beautiful.”
Thanks to the recent low temperatures and the temperature difference created by the full-spectrum light, the rose, which should have turned green in the summer, was still beautiful, looking like a model.
Bai Feifei hinted at something. “Such a delicate flower is hard to take care of.”
“Is it delicate?” Huo Wu walked to the balcony and looked down with her.
The canopy was made of transparent glass. Only the final covering step was left. The flowers below, no longer being eroded by the heavy rain, had already lifted their heads in an instant.
Huo Wu smiled and said, “It’s actually very easy to take care of and very strong.”
She was looking at herself. Bai Feifei noticed it and her face turned a little red, but she also felt a sense of delight.
The crew and the production team had different work schedules. After receiving the news that the actors were ready to film, they carried their cameras into the hotel room.
Bai Feifei watched them set up the cameras and asked, “How long will this be here?”
“We’ll take them down when we change locations,” a staff member said. “We won’t leave them in the room.”
A camera needed someone to watch it constantly for setup, calibration, and final shooting. It was already a very busy process just for the short time it took to film the journey from the hotel to the set.
Bai Feifei swallowed the boiled egg in her mouth and stuffed in a bite of chicken breast. Her cheeks were puffed up, but what she was thinking was that she wouldn’t be able to go to work with Huo Wu now.
But Huo Wu had said that everything was fine except for kissing.
Bai Feifei’s eyes darted around. She whispered to Fu Xiaoxiao, “Can you ask Sister Xue for me?”
“What?” Fu Xiaoxiao leaned in to whisper back. When she saw Bai Feifei finish eating, she put a blueberry she didn’t like very much into her mouth and took the time to say, “For vitamins.”
Bai Feifei mumbled, “Can I go to work with Ah Wu?”
Fu Xiaoxiao’s face was sullen, but Bai Xue had already told her beforehand what was okay and what wasn’t. At her words, she said, “Yes.”
Bai Feifei was instantly happy.
The road conditions weren’t very good lately. Fortunately, the RV was well-equipped, and the driver was a steady driver who didn’t rush. He even had time to chat with Bai Feifei.
Bai Feifei was reciting her lines with the swaying of the car and actually sounded a little tipsy. She thought this must be what it felt like to get into character. Her mind was filled with images of the scenes she was about to film. When she opened her eyes, she realized she wasn’t tipsy, she was just carsick.
It was true that it was easy to get carsick on a rainy day. Bai Feifei got out of the car and took a few deep breaths before the pressure in her chest went down.
Today’s filming location was a hospital, and all the scenes were with Ling Xinghe.
Fusang went to see her mother every day as usual. Her figure was still slender and frail, but she handled everything efficiently. She had to be fast to save more time.
But today was different from the usual.
When she went to pick up the film, she heard a very loud argument on the empty basement floor. There were still more than ten minutes until the agreed-upon time, so she had to wait and was forced to listen to the whole thing.
The eldest son of a couple had a very serious heart condition. He had already had two surgeries, but it had recently relapsed again. The husband wanted to have another child while he was still young, but the wife seemed to have lit a long-suppressed fuse and started arguing with her husband.
A cheating husband, an illegitimate son who also had inheritance rights, a son who had been abandoned by his father, and a pitiful wife.
Fusang listened to the whole thing with a blank expression but ran into Li Mingming, who was wearing a patient’s gown. He had been listening for a long time and was looking ahead with a gloomy, hateful expression.
—This scene wasn’t filmed smoothly.
Bai Feifei was so scared by Ling Xinghe’s expression that she jumped up. The first time they filmed it, Li Ke burst out laughing and called cut.
She was on the verge of tears and looked everywhere for Huo Wu. Huo Wu, of course, was scolding Li Ke with a sullen face. “I told you she was timid. Why did you have to scare her? Is it fun?”
Li Ke was one of the few directors who would be so happy that he would almost lie on the ground after a failed take. He couldn’t stop laughing at Bai Feifei’s reaction just now. “Why don’t you get Bai Xue to arrange a haunted house show for her? A celebrity’s haunted house adventure would be good too. I’m dying of laughter, hahaha. I’ve never seen anyone like her before!”
She first jumped in place, then started running in circles. As she ran, she was screaming and crying. By the time she finally remembered to run, she turned around and ran right into a wall.
The assistant director, like a god, reached out and pressed the replay button.
Li Ke, who had finally managed to climb back onto his chair, saw it again and burst into laughter once more.
The reaction on set was pretty much the same. Bai Feifei had managed to hold back her tears, but Li Ke’s words made her laugh and cry at the same time. She sat on the chair, trembling, pointing at him, unable to say a word.
—Ling Xinghe didn’t even dare to come over.
This scene was finally passed after a few more takes. Ling Xinghe’s expression was consistent. In the dim basement, an empty duty room, and in the shadow where the two intersected, only the green light of the emergency light was cast on half of his body, making him look like a vengeful ghost.
No wonder Bai Feifei was scared.
The camera zoomed in several times to get a close-up of Ling Xinghe. Even the photographer behind the camera felt a chill in their hearts.
Bai Feifei was squatting on the side, watching the replay. Li Ke was so engrossed that she secretly looked at the countdown in the bottom right corner several times. Finally, when the camera suddenly cut to Ling Xinghe, she let out a loud scream in Li Ke’s ear.
Li Ke clutched his heart and jumped up. The innocent assistant director was knocked over with his chair and fell to the ground. He turned around in a very charming posture, his face a mix of bewilderment and shock.
Bai Feifei got her revenge. After she was done, she immediately ran away. Li Ke chased her for a few steps but couldn’t catch her. With one hand on his hip, he rolled a paper into a megaphone and said in a fit of rage, “You just wait!!”
Bai Feifei turned her head. “You just wait too!”
Huo Wu waited until Li Ke was gone before saying coldly, “You’re so childish at your age.”
Today’s content was not easy. It was another long night shoot. Since he was rarely so active, Li Ke’s mood was a little more relaxed. At her words, he said, “Isn’t this good?”
Of course, it was good. It seemed that work wasn’t so tiring when Bai Feifei was around.
Huo Wu glanced at him and said mercilessly, “Don’t you forget, the production crew is still filming over there. Didn’t you say you wanted to build the image of a seasoned artist?”
Li Ke slapped his thigh and hurriedly looked at the camera.
But it was too late.
The sound guy held up his microphone and gave him an innocent look. The director gave him a thumbs-up. She thought that the show would air next Saturday at 8 p.m. At first, she was worried that she wouldn’t be able to do anything in Li Ke’s crew, and if they didn’t have enough material, the first episode would be boring. But she never expected there to be so many things to film.
The ambiguous relationship between Bai Feifei and Huo Wu, the director who wanted to create a persona, the top-tier agent who had been retired for many years, the leads with an ambiguous relationship, and the future brother-in-law who could also be linked to another top celebrity…
It was so much fun.
The crew took a break for dinner in the evening before continuing to film the next scene.
It was still the hospital, but the location was changed to a patient room.
Fusang was unable to get the film. She was restrained by Li Mingming and dragged from the basement to the elevator, where a conversation happened that would affect the direction of the second half of the plot.
But how she was restrained became a problem.
Li Mingming was a heart patient. The setting was that he had already had two surgeries and was in his third relapse. He should be weak. What’s more, even though he was tall, he was extremely thin, and his strength was not great. All the scenes involving him did not have any intense activity.
Whether it was during an assault or the several times the “prey” escaped in the show, he was always at ease and unhurried.
Li Ke motioned for the two of them to do the scene a few more times to try it out.
Bai Feifei was in a passive position in this scene, but what she had to show the audience was the opposite. Bai Feifei understood this very well, and Li Ke was very satisfied.
He didn’t hold back and directly talked about a small idol they had previously worked with whose name he didn’t even remember. “That person that Jiayi sent in before, when I gave her this scene, her reaction was that she was going to be dragged by Li Mingming.”
As he spoke, he started to laugh.
A high school girl, no matter how skinny, would weigh at least 80 pounds. She was going to be dragged by a patient who had a heart attack and might not even be able to have a third surgery. She was truly amazing for even thinking of that. What’s more, the couple not far away was still arguing, and their voices echoed throughout the entire basement. The slightest sound could attract their attention.
Even so, she still had a nervous expression and asked the staff to give her protection. There couldn’t be a single piece of sand on the path she was going to be dragged on. There had to be pads on her back, and she even had to have a stunt double clear a clean path for her.
Bai Feifei saw his face turn sour, and his eyes were not friendly as he looked at her again. Alarm bells rang in her head. “What? What? What!”
Li Ke proudly hummed, “You’re not bad.”
You’re not bad. That’s all. Why did you have to add that syllable?
Bai Feifei’s face contorted. She rubbed the goosebumps on her arms, feeling disgusted by Li Ke.
Huo Wu, who was standing by, found it amusing. She rested her chin in her hand and said along with him, “You’re not bad.”
After she said it, she cleared her throat as if to ease the awkwardness.
But Bai Feifei’s gaze had already fallen on her. Her face was screaming, “Cute, want to kiss.”
Huo Wu couldn’t even hide her smile with her hand.
