- I Was Sleep-Deprived at a Matchmaking Meeting and Ended Up Engaged
- Chapter 37 - Epilogue
With their wedding approaching, Ayato and the others were looking at furniture and household items to furnish the home they had bought from Masaharu’s place.
Since they would be living in Yoshinori’s apartment until the house was built, they could take their time deciding on the interior.
“You know, my room hasn’t been getting messy lately,” Ayato said, glancing at a bed from before.
“Oh? Why’s that?”
“I’ve stopped accumulating so many things, so my mom can keep up with the cleaning now.”
…Yoshinori gave him a look that said, “You shouldn’t have your mom cleaning up after you in the first place.”
“What do you plan to do from now on…? Well, we could hire a housekeeper.”
“Hmm. For now, should we hire a Room◯?”
That’s not something you hire—you buy it. Plus, he got a look that said, “Ro◯bas don’t do cleaning.”
“I don’t buy as many things or clothes as I used to. I’ve been wondering why. I think whenever I bought something, I’d think, ‘Maybe buying this will bring a wonderful future,’ and end up buying it without thinking. But I think I’m fine now.”
“I see. Why’s that?”
…It seemed she had to spell it out for him until the very end.
Was it because he was humble? Or because he was a bit of a blockhead?
But Ayato thought that was exactly what suited her.
“B-because a wonderful future has already arrived.”
Saying this, she mustered her courage and gently touched Yoshinori’s arm.
As if to say, “Because you’re here with me.”
She couldn’t tell if he understood or not.
But Yoshinori smiled and placed his hand over hers.
“Hey, I like this bed over here!” Kai’s voice came from a little distance away.
“I’m taking this one to Antarctica,” Ran’s voice chimed in.
“What are you talking about? I’m the one going to Antarctica to marry a handsome guy!” Hamako retorted.
“That’s great! You’re sparkling, Ayato!” Midori, though it wasn’t even the wedding, was tearfully taking pictures of Ayato and Yoshinori’s affectionate moments.
It seemed she was making a video to play at the ceremony.
Yuya, who had recently become Hanami’s apprentice (?), was in the kotatsu section asking a store clerk, “Don’t you have one where the tabletop flips over and becomes a mahjong table?”
“Why did you bring everyone along…?”
“Well, they said they wanted to see for reference when it’s their turn.”
In the study desk section, Hiromi struck a transformation pose and shouted, “I won’t let you down!”
Wait, are you an employee here…? It sounded like he was saying, “I won’t allow it,” but—
Smiling fondly at the scene, Yoshinori said, “But you know, since I met you, every day has been a little more fun than before.”
“Just a little…?”
Ayato looked up at him, thinking, “For me, it’s been incredibly fun.”
“When I’m with you, it’s really fun. Even when you’re not around, I think of you and it’s a little fun. But it’s also a little lonely. So on average, every day is just a little fun, I guess.”
Yoshinori said he hoped these slightly fun days would continue just like this.
“…Yes,” Ayato replied, looking down with an embarrassed smile.
She recalled what Hanami and the others had told her:
“Today, I ran into Shirakami-san at work, and it was a disaster!”
“Oh, really?”
“Fate, huh?”
