- Chapter 31.2 - The Story of the New Secretary, Udo Miharu, Part 2
Udo Miharu, who was assigned to me as a new employee, was a peculiar girl.
At first, perhaps due to nervousness, she seemed unfamiliar with the work, but she quickly learned the tasks.
Secretarial work is diverse and challenging just to remember.
When I asked, it seemed this was her first time as a secretary, and she had no qualifications or anything.
Yet, she accurately grasped the job content, customized it for herself, and managed to support me as well.
I gave detailed instructions and made requests, and though she made mistakes at first, her ability to correct them from the second time onward was remarkable.
And once she made a mistake, she rarely repeated it.
My heart leaped with excitement. I felt she had the potential to be worth training.
But Ms. Udo’s abilities didn’t stop there.
When I took her along on a warehouse inspection, she acted without regard for danger and saved a life.
It should have led to an unavoidable major accident.
But thanks to her, it could be said that it was prevented before it happened.
At the company’s prototype presentation event, she showed me a glimpse of her abilities.
She identified flaws in the product, compiled a questionnaire, and voiced her opinions.
Moreover, she discussed her views from multiple angles without being flustered, even when facing the development department.
I assisted as well, but I was completely at the mercy of Ms. Udo’s sharp intellect.
Then, when I had her attend negotiation meetings, a change occurred.
The demeanor of the other party softened, and with just a word from her, the situation shifted significantly in our favor.
And this wasn’t just once or twice.
It was a situation that couldn’t be dismissed as mere coincidence or luck.
She apologized, saying she had overstepped, but that wasn’t the case at all.
She spoke with just the right balance and perfect timing.
It was as if she could see right through to the words I needed, exactly when I needed them.
I knew women tend to excel in such intuition, but Ms. Udo’s went beyond that level.
And beyond that, I sensed something more.
It was a feeling that she not only made the company and me happy but also enveloped and brought happiness to the negotiation partners and the other side.
At first, I thought it was a coincidence.
But as I took her along more often, that turned into conviction.
I felt sorry for Ms. Udo, but I intentionally increased the number of times she accompanied me.
Naturally, this interfered with the tasks she was supposed to do.
But she never made any excuses and accepted my requests.
And she always managed to complete her own work as well.
Despite that, she occasionally showed signs of being timid.
It’s natural since she’s still new, but if she can handle the work this well, she should have more confidence.
Looking at her previous job history, she had worked for a long time and must have been highly valued.
—Anyway, I think she’s a peculiar girl in many ways.
I found myself wanting to interact with her more, exchange conversations, and get to know her better.
Her appearance and background were far removed from the women I had been involved with until then.
But…
By that time, I might have already fallen for her…
