- Chapter 50.2 (R19) - Ready?
Yu Peirong remained unaffected. Her face was emotionless as she stepped forward, grabbed the trembling woman off the floor, and without warning, slapped her hard across the face.
The loud crack echoed through the room. Quan Zhihong’s head snapped to the side. The sting spread across her cheek like fire.
People outside heard the noise. Yao Yiting rushed in, panic written all over her face, only to see Yu Peirong slam Quan Zhihong against the wall by the collar.
Her eyes were colder than anyone had ever seen. A clear handprint stood out across Quan Zhihong’s face.
Yu Peirong had used all her strength. Quan Zhihong felt like her internal organs were trembling. Under the heavy pressure of the pheromones, she couldn’t even fight back.
“Where is Yu Corporation now?”
Yu Peirong didn’t even glance at the woman. She looked so terrified, yet didn’t try to run or call the police. She knew that if the authorities came, they would all be in trouble. But when she heard that name, both women’s faces tensed.
Yu Peirong had no patience for any more words. She released another wave of pheromones. Quan Zhihong’s blood surged. A bitter, metallic taste rose in her throat, stuck between coming up and staying down.
Feeling that oppressive force bearing down on her, Quan Zhihong didn’t dare lie. She was already shaking under Yu Peirong’s grip.
“I don’t know where Yu Corporation is. It was Yu Litian who gave me the idea,” Quan Zhihong admitted in a trembling voice.
“Yu Litian?” Yu Peirong narrowed her eyes. A moment later, she remembered. That was her father. She raised her chin slightly, signaling Quan Zhihong to continue.
Quan Zhihong didn’t dare hesitate. She told her everything.
Yu Litian had never had direct contact with Qi Xiyao, but he was aware of her schedule. It was likely he had heard about her relationship with Yu Corporation through someone close.
At the beginning, he had naturally taken Yu Corporation’s side, fully supporting his attempt to win over the Omega. Their so-called father-son relationship had been relatively close. While they weren’t completely open with one another, Yu Litian certainly knew how obsessive and possessive Yu Corporation had become over Qi Xiyao.
Back when Yu Peirong had mentioned taking care of that mother and son, she hadn’t acted yet. Before she could, Yu Corporation had already fled with company funds. Yu Litian, a cunning old fox, had no intention of confronting them directly.
He didn’t know what kind of backup they had and didn’t want to risk provoking them. Instead, he chose to manipulate Yu Peirong, trying to deepen her hatred for Yu Corporation.
If his provocation succeeded, it would shift all blame onto Quan Zhihong and leave Yu Peirong overwhelmed and distracted. If both sides ended up hurt in the process, it would serve his purpose. He could push all attention onto her while he quietly made preparations behind the scenes.
Even while lying in a hospital bed, Yu Litian clearly knew what Yu Peirong was doing. His influence was long-reaching, which meant he had already caught wind of what was coming.
That made it even more obvious to Yu Peirong that he must be hiding something dark.
For example, the accounts. Without Yu Litian’s approval or instructions, she didn’t believe Yu Corporation would have dared to commit fraud so openly. As for the profits that came from it, Yu Litian undoubtedly knew exactly where they went.
Yu Peirong hadn’t planned to move against him just yet. But he had made one fatal mistake. He had involved her wife.
She looked at Quan Zhihong, who was drenched in sweat. Under the pressure of Alpha pheromones, she had begun to recover her senses. Yu Peirong stared into her eyes and suddenly gave a faint smile.
“This place has no cameras. I’m sure you made sure of that. So if an Alpha were to end up permanently ruined here, would anything really happen?”
Quan Zhihong shivered. Her eyes showed pure fear as she looked at Yu Peirong like she was facing a monster.
Then, without warning, she fell to her knees. In front of Yao Yiting’s shocked gaze, she began slapping herself hard across the face. One hit after another, each louder than the last.
Yu Peirong didn’t even glance at her. She stepped forward, gently held Qi Xiyao, and walked away without a word.
Only when their silhouettes disappeared from view did Quan Zhihong finally collapse completely. Tears streamed from her eyes as her body gave out.
Yao Yiting grabbed her hand with worry, gently touching the marks on her face.
“Are you alright? That woman went way too far. Maybe we should go to Yu Litian about this.”
She knew exactly what her wife had done. But because she had made the choice to stay by her side, she would defend her without question. Yao Yiting knew that Quan Zhihong had tried to mark Qi Xiyao to stabilize her own pheromones. Although she couldn’t smell the scent herself, she still felt a deep ache for her wife.
In her eyes, Yu Peirong was nothing special. She was only acting strong now because Yu Corporation had fallen. If Yu Litian took action, she believed he could crush her easily.
Before tonight, Quan Zhihong had thought the same. That was why she had dared to target Yu Peirong’s girlfriend.
But now, Quan Zhihong shook her head. Her voice was hoarse when she finally spoke.
“Yu Peirong’s pheromones are S-class.”
Qi Xiyao lay in the back seat. Yu Peirong didn’t use autopilot. She drove at full speed, heading straight home.
The snow outside was getting heavier, but inside the car, the air was sweet and warm. Yu Peirong had sprayed a heavy dose of high-purity suppressant perfume. But she knew it was only a temporary solution. An Omega in heat could easily break through it.
Her mouth felt dry, and her breathing had become shallow.
Qi Xiyao was a high-level Omega. Her pheromones were incredibly attractive to any Alpha, especially one experiencing their heat cycle. To them, it was as irresistible as a drug.
The only reason she had lasted this long without being marked was partly because Quan Zhihong’s true target had been Yu Peirong and she had wanted to stall. But even more importantly, Qi Xiyao had used every ounce of willpower to suppress her instincts. She had refused to release her pheromones.
But all that effort was breaking down.
Her entire body burned as if she were on fire. Heat surged through her veins, making it hard to breathe.
Yu Peirong pushed the car to its limits. As soon as they reached home, she rushed around, opened the door, and carried Qi Xiyao inside.
A trace of pheromone scent had already started to spread. Some of it drifted into the elevator. Yu Peirong quickly covered it with fragrance. If another Alpha entered tomorrow and caught even a trace of that scent, the consequences would be dangerous.
Qi Xiyao clutched her shirt tightly. Her burning forehead pressed into Yu Peirong’s shoulder.
She could feel her self-control slipping away.
Yu Peirong’s throat was dry and tense. When they got home, she gently placed Qi Xiyao on the couch. Then she rushed to the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face.
The water slid from her face down her neck and collarbone, leaving a trail of cold that barely helped.
The room’s heating wasn’t on. She couldn’t think about anything else at the moment. She turned on a dim light and started looking for a suppressant.
But it was probably something she had stored before she lost her memory. She had no idea where it was now. No matter how hard she searched, she couldn’t find it.
Sweat soaked her forehead and stuck to her bangs. She wiped it away quickly. When she heard Qi Xiyao groaning in pain, she jumped to her feet and rushed over.
The Omega had rolled off the couch.
Qi Xiyao was tugging at her clothes in desperation, pulling her collar open, completely ignoring the cold. Under the dim light, her delicate collarbone was exposed. Yu Peirong swallowed hard, then turned her face away and asked softly.
“Do you want some water?”
“Or maybe a bath?” She helped Qi Xiyao up while trying to soothe her. “I’ll run the water for you. How about a bath?”
Qi Xiyao didn’t respond. Yu Peirong gently touched her cheek and realized how hot she was. She immediately turned and ran to fill the tub.
The bathtub was new, and water flowed quickly. In no time, it was full. Yu Peirong ran back, picked up Qi Xiyao in her arms, and carried her to the bathroom.
Qi Xiyao was nearly unconscious. Fortunately, she was light. Yu Peirong had no trouble carrying her.
She hesitated for a moment, remembering the things Qi Xiyao had said before. But eventually, she turned away and carefully began to undress her.
As her fingers brushed against warm, soft skin, her face flushed. Despite being the same gender, she still felt awkward. Gently, she lowered her into the water.
Qi Xiyao leaned against the edge of the tub with her eyes closed. From the look of her, there was no way she could bathe on her own.
Yu Peirong let out a quiet sigh. Her heart wavered for a moment, but reason soon overcame emotion. She tilted her head slightly, gently scooping warm water over Qi Xiyao’s body. Seeing that her skin was already flushed with heat, she made sure the water wasn’t too hot. Her hand moved rhythmically, almost mechanically.
But before long, Qi Xiyao leaned in close.
Yu Peirong was trying to focus elsewhere, letting her thoughts wander to keep herself grounded. She didn’t want to lose control. Just as she started to relax, she felt a soft pressure on her earlobe—a teasing nibble that made her jolt.
Qi Xiyao was gently holding the gland near her ear, lightly brushing it with the tip of her tongue. The sensation sent a wave of tingling electricity through her nerves.
Yu Peirong nearly lost her balance.
She guessed that she probably had no real experience with relationships. Otherwise, why would she feel so unprepared, so overwhelmed when facing an Omega like this? Qi Xiyao’s soft breath and quiet touch lingered on her skin, the warmth spreading through her chest like rising heat.
“Don’t mess around,” Yu Peirong murmured, though her voice had already lost its strength. Her breath came fast, uneven. She leaned back slightly, steadying herself against the edge of the tub.
Qi Xiyao leaned closer, wrapping her damp arms around Yu Peirong’s neck. Their closeness made Yu Peirong’s already-soaked clothes cling to her skin. Qi Xiyao’s breath, hot and uneven, brushed her ear, carrying that light and familiar scent of grapefruit and green tea.
Yu Peirong bit her lip hard enough to sting, trying to snap herself out of it.
She stood up, trying to create distance, but before she could steady herself, Qi Xiyao reached out and pulled her back into the water.
There was no aggression in her touch, only desperation. Qi Xiyao gently bit her shoulder and fumbled at her soaked clothes. When Yu Peirong had rushed home earlier, she’d only had time to take off her coat. Now her sweater was heavy with water, sticking to her skin uncomfortably.
Feeling stifled, Yu Peirong pulled away and quickly peeled off the damp layer.
Before she could catch her breath, Qi Xiyao moved closer again, resting against her, clinging with a kind of emotional dependence that was hard to ignore. Her face pressed softly against her shoulder, seeking comfort more than anything else.
The sweet scent in the air grew thicker, curling around them and settling into every corner of the room. It made Yu Peirong’s head spin. Her breathing quickened, but her restraint held firm.
She adjusted the temperature of the room, mindful of Qi Xiyao’s condition. The last thing she wanted was for her to catch a chill in the middle of such vulnerability.
Just as she turned to speak, Qi Xiyao pressed her lips to hers.
The sudden kiss was warm, a little clumsy, and full of need. It wasn’t calculated, but there was something deeply emotional behind it. Yu Peirong froze, caught off guard by the tenderness, and then slowly found herself responding.
For a moment, she lost herself in it. Their closeness blurred everything else, the world reduced to breath, warmth, and the soft weight of memory.
But even then, Yu Peirong held on to restraint.
As the moment deepened, she gently took hold of Qi Xiyao’s wrist and pulled away. Her breath was unsteady, but her mind was clear. Without a word, she helped Qi Xiyao out of the tub, wrapped her in a towel, and carried her out with steady arms.
Water trailed behind them with every step.
Yu Peirong dried her hair carefully. Her movements were soft but hurried, as if afraid of staying too long in the moment. But before she could finish, Qi Xiyao reached out again and tugged her onto the bed.
Omega strength wasn’t overwhelming, but it was persistent.
Qi Xiyao lay curled on her side, her delicate shoulder half exposed in the dim light.
The towel draped over her concealed most of her graceful figure, leaving only her long legs stretched across the bed. As Yu Peirong slowly approached, Qi Xiyao reached out, her voice soft and inviting, laced with an alluring warmth.
“I don’t want the suppressant,” she whispered. “I want you.”
“Peirong, mark me.”
She gently wrapped her arms around Yu Peirong’s neck, her breath light, her gaze fixed with longing. There was no hesitation in her tone, only certainty and desire. She had always been drawn to the subtle fragrance of Yu Peirong’s scent, long before she ever suspected she could be an Alpha.
At first, she had assumed the scent came from some rare Alpha-grade calming agent, purchased somewhere and stored in a bottle. It had never crossed her mind that the gentle, cooling aroma of gardenia was entirely Yu Peirong’s own.
That scent, like flowers floating in cool water, brought a sense of clarity and calm. It was refreshing without being overpowering, comforting without losing its strength.
Yu Peirong’s heart pounded, each beat like a drum echoing in her chest. Her emotions surged, caught between restraint and the weight of everything unspoken.
Her voice dropped, barely above a breath. Slowly, she leaned in, her hands gently guiding Qi Xiyao’s wrists behind her back.
The pressure in the air changed. Their closeness was undeniable. Her breath fell warm against Qi Xiyao’s cheek.
“Are you sure you’re ready?”
