I Transmigrated into a Scummy Alpha and Stole the Heroine from Her Tragic Romance - Chapter 31
“Miss Lu, may I ask why you wanted to see me?”
Qi Xiyao stopped in front of Lu Zhiyao but kept a respectful and safe social distance instead of stepping closer.
Today, Lu Zhiyao was dressed with understated elegance. Her makeup was subtle, and her long dress reached down to her ankles. Every inch of her figure was wrapped carefully in soft satin. The close-fitting white sweater outlined her slender waist, accentuating her graceful and delicate form.
As she listened to Qi Xiyao speak, Lu Zhiyao raised her head slightly from her seat, sipping wine while taking in the beauty standing before her.
As a senior executive in a publicly listed entertainment company, Lu Zhiyao had a sharp eye. With just one glance, she could tell Qi Xiyao had exceptional looks and presence.
Indeed, she was exactly Lu Zhiyao’s preferred type of Omega. That much was clear in her mind. However, Qi Xiyao’s expression seemed slightly cold and distant when she wasn’t smiling. Lu Zhiyao wondered if that coldness was meant only for her.
“Please sit down. You’re welcome to try some of the desserts.”
Lu Zhiyao spoke gently, almost as if she was afraid of scaring off the Omega in front of her. But it was obvious that Qi Xiyao had no intention of staying long. She was not here for a personal meeting, and had only accepted the invitation because Lu Zhiyao had requested to meet her under the title of President of Yeting Entertainment.
Qi Xiyao didn’t touch the table full of exquisite, bite-sized desserts. Not even the blueberry jam mini cakes that she usually liked. She didn’t even pick up the utensils. She simply sat down across from Lu Zhiyao, a little tense and cautious.
“The reason I asked to meet you is because I recently acquired an intellectual property that I plan to develop with a full line of promotions and endorsements. After giving it a lot of thought, I realized that only you could truly capture the essence of the main character. You fit the role perfectly in both temperament and appearance, so I reached out to you.”
Meanwhile, Yu Peirong was standing near the sink outside the restroom. The white tiles in front of her seemed to ripple and blur, as if swaying and merging into each other.
By the time she went from standing to squatting and then slowly stood up again, about ten minutes had passed. The voices coming through the wall were faint one moment and clear the next. But she could vaguely tell that Lu Zhiyao was discussing an IP project with Qi Xiyao.
Yeting Entertainment was one of the four giants in the industry, alongside Yishui, Changfeng, and Heying. Yishui specialized in training idols who could sing and dance. Changfeng focused on developing producers. Yeting and Heying shared the lead in film and television production.
The IP Lu Zhiyao was referring to was likely a novel adaptation deal that had been finalized recently. It sounded like a very promising opportunity. If Qi Xiyao were to secure it, the entire project would revolve around her. She would be the spokesperson for the promotional campaign and the lead actress in the film adaptation.
Landing a major role in a Yeting project guaranteed high viewership. It was a rare and valuable opportunity. Many actresses at her level could only dream of it.
Under normal circumstances, Yu Peirong would have sincerely felt happy for Qi Xiyao. Her talent truly deserved recognition and shouldn’t be overlooked.
But the issue was, while Yu Peirong firmly believed in Qi Xiyao’s potential, she also knew that Lu Zhiyao was not the kind of mentor who offered opportunities without ulterior motives.
When Yu Peirong finally regained her composure and quickly splashed cold water on her face, she was about to leave the restroom when she heard a sudden, startled cry from Qi Xiyao.
Without hesitation, she rushed out. The sound of her high heels hitting the floor echoed sharply.
“Lu Zhiyao!”
She had known Lu Zhiyao was dangerous. She had come fully prepared. On her way here, she had already taken a suppressant spray out of her bag, ready to use it if Lu Zhiyao did anything out of line.
When Lu Zhiyao heard Yu Peirong raise her voice, she let out a deliberately surprised sound and withdrew the hand that had been reaching for Qi Xiyao’s fingers.
Yu Peirong hurried to Qi Xiyao’s side. After confirming that she was unharmed, she finally let herself relax a little.
She then stepped in front of her, shielding her completely from the sharp and assessing gaze of the Alpha across the table.
Lu Zhiyao let out a chuckle.
“Really, Peirong? You’re protecting her like she’s your child. What are you so afraid of? Don’t forget, we were engaged once when we were little.”
Qi Xiyao’s eyes flickered with surprise at the word “engaged,” clearly shocked by what she heard. But almost immediately, Yu Peirong gripped her hand tightly and stood even more protectively, determined to shield her completely.
When Yu Peirong had first heard Lu Zhiyao’s name, she had felt a faint flicker of memory, even though the original host had never left her with any detailed recollections. But this particular incident came back to her.
The so-called engagement had been nothing more than a childhood game. Their parents had joked about it casually, without any real intention.
This was a modern society ruled by law. Childhood engagements carried no legal weight. If their families had truly meant it, they would have arranged more interaction during their childhoods. But Yu Peirong was certain that the original host had never been close to Lu Zhiyao.
What truly disturbed her, however, was the lingering fear she felt whenever she looked at Lu Zhiyao. It wasn’t her own fear but something left behind by the original host.
Why had the original host been so afraid of Lu Zhiyao?
Only small fragments of memory surfaced. Most of the past was still out of reach.
But one thing was clear. Lu Zhiyao was not someone to be trusted. Her sudden kindness toward Qi Xiyao definitely had hidden motives. And the fact that she had invited both of them at the same time under different pretenses made that even more obvious.
Fortunately, Qi Xiyao had a strong sense of caution and had not made any promises on her own.
Considering Lu Zhiyao had already tried to drug her, Yu Peirong had no desire to stay any longer. No matter how luxurious the food on the table looked, she had completely lost her appetite.
Just as she was preparing to leave with Qi Xiyao, Lu Zhiyao crossed her legs and leaned back into the sofa. She looked at Yu Peirong with a faint smile.
Her features carried a trace of exotic beauty. Her bright red lips parted, her words filled with mockery and menace, sharp as a blade.
“Peirong, your father says you’re becoming more and more rebellious. You’re not exactly young anymore. Sooner or later, you’ll have to give your family an answer.”
“Let me be frank. In every family, the ultimate fate of an Omega is marriage. That’s the truth. And marrying me is your best option. Omegas should not overestimate their worth. As long as they do what they’re supposed to, they won’t end up in such miserable situations.”
Yu Peirong suddenly froze.
She heard the threat hidden in Lu Zhiyao’s words.
Even though she was an Alpha, she had never been influenced by the toxic mindset of certain Alphas who believed Omegas should be submissive and confined to the role of homemakers and childbearers.
Her heart had always been more sympathetic to gentle Omegas. So when Lu Zhiyao spoke with such arrogance and entitlement, Yu Peirong instinctively wanted to speak out.
“Miss Lu, you’re overthinking it.”
Before Yu Peirong could respond, a soft and familiar voice answered in her place. Qi Xiyao looked straight at Lu Zhiyao, her eyes steady, and said,
“Not every Omega is someone that Alphas can control. We don’t need your charity to survive. President Yu is a good person. That has nothing to do with gender, and she will never be the kind of tool you describe for a marriage alliance.”
As she spoke, Qi Xiyao’s words came faster. Her ears turned slightly red without her noticing. Then she quickly turned away, grabbed Yu Peirong’s hand, and walked off without looking back.
Even after they got into the car, Qi Xiyao remained quiet and exhausted. The fiery confidence she had just shown was completely gone. She bit her lower lip and tightly held onto the small fleece blanket on the seat.
Yu Peirong hadn’t yet noticed anything strange. She only felt a little unwell herself, so she switched the car to autopilot. She asked Qi Xiyao why she had come all the way out here. The Omega pouted slightly and gave her a small look of frustration.
“I already told you. Since yesterday, I haven’t had any scenes to shoot. The two lead actors moved to a different location. There was no point in me staying on set, so I left.”
Lately, Yu Peirong had been so busy that she had barely had time to rest. It was understandable that she had missed a few things Qi Xiyao said. She immediately apologized.
“And I ended my lease on the apartment. Can I stay at your place tonight?”
Qi Xiyao had grown more playful lately. Compared to before, they were now much closer. She clearly trusted Yu Peirong. Since Peirong’s home was spacious, she agreed without hesitation and turned the car toward her place.
She hadn’t yet asked why Qi Xiyao had moved out of her apartment, but before she could, she noticed that the woman had already leaned back against the seat and fallen asleep. It seemed she was completely worn out.
Yu Peirong closed her eyes and rested for a short while. When the car reached the underground parking garage and came to a gentle stop, the system woke her up. She and Qi Xiyao went back home together.
As soon as they walked through the door, Qi Xiyao took off her coat and casually tossed it onto a chair. Before Yu Peirong could even turn on the air conditioning, she watched in surprise as Qi Xiyao pulled off her sweater as well, as though the heat had become too much.
Underneath, she wore a loose long-sleeved shirt. The neckline hung open, and the soft curves of her chest rose and fell with her breathing.
Yu Peirong glanced once and immediately felt her ears heat up. She hadn’t turned on the air conditioning either. She was also starting to feel warm. She quickly looked away, not wanting to be rude by staring.
But the next moment, Qi Xiyao’s soft body pressed gently against her back. The sudden contact sent a wave of tingling heat through her. This was the first time she had ever been this physically close to someone in such an intimate way. Her ears felt like they were burning, and Qi Xiyao’s warm breath lingered near her ear, slow and tender.
Yu Peirong’s heart pounded wildly, its rhythm fast and uneven.
Qi Xiyao caught the faint scent of white gardenia in the air. At first, she thought she was imagining it, that her nerves were simply on edge. Back at the restaurant, she had also thought she smelled that familiar fragrance. Gardenia was not a common scent. She couldn’t remember exactly where she had encountered it before, but for some reason, it felt incredibly right.
It seemed to match perfectly with her own natural scent, which carried the soft freshness of grapefruit tea.
A sudden and irrational idea entered her mind.
She wanted Yu Peirong to be her comfort.
That small spark of courage, born from confusion and desire, began to grow when she wasn’t immediately turned away. It spread like roots taking hold, waking something wild and restless inside her. Her mind grew hazy, but a part of her only became more focused. Her instincts took over. She leaned in close, her lips brushing against Yu Peirong’s ear, her breath warm and unsteady.
Qi Xiyao’s voice was soft and trembling, filled with nervous hope and quiet vulnerability.
“Jiejie, can you pretend to be an Alpha and bite my gland?”
