I Transmigrated and Already Had a Wife - Chapter 29.1
If what the system said is true, what did it leave out from your words?
To turn over a new leaf?
Isn’t that just staying away from the female lead and not being a stumbling block in her path to growth?
Actively send the female lead to her fated partner, and then willingly offer up the Jiang family as a package?
Jiang Zhou lowered her head. The woman in her arms had skin as white as snow, clinging to her neck, her cheeks slightly flushed.
Hmm, this was not a woman that a vicious female supporting character like her should yearn for.
She swallowed, uncertain in her heart, Will Lin Muwan really cut her hand and foot tendons in the future?
Jiang Zhou raised her eyes, staring at the roof with a look of confusion.
This time, it was really time to leave, wasn’t it?
Just the thought of leaving made her chest ache and her breath catch. She had just made up her mind to be properly with Lin Muwan, but the next second, she had to face such a cruel reality.
Jiang Zhou bit her lip, gently withdrew her arm from under Lin Muwan’s neck, sat up, got dressed, and, as usual, went to the thatched cottage next door. The villagers hadn’t returned from hunting, and the dimly lit courtyard was empty.
Her heart was also empty.
Lin Muwan must hate the original owner in her heart. After all, during their time together, although she seemed docile and obeyed her every word, it was likely all due to the original owner’s previous tyrannical behavior; she feared her and had no choice.
What on earth gave her the delusion that Lin Muwan liked her in her heart too?
She was afraid that her coming to sleep with her at night was also just a habit.
After all, when she kissed her, Lin Muwan had pushed her away.
Everything that was unclear was instantly explained.
Jiang Zhou sighed softly, without complaint, and quickly found peace in her heart.
If it were her, she couldn’t possibly like someone who regularly beat her.
Before long, the villagers who went hunting returned, and the small courtyard became lively. The transaction process quickly concluded. Jiang Zhou shared her experience in raising rabbits with them, as the number of rabbits on the mountain was limited, and she would soon be leaving.
This sparked a new rabbit-raising trend in the village, and every household started raising rabbits.
Jiang Zhou’s spicy fried rabbit meat became increasingly popular in the county town. After about ten days of recuperation, Mother Lin’s health had recovered very well, and her face looked much plumper. A broken leg required a hundred days of rest, so Jiang Zhou made a wheelchair for her. Lin Muwan could usually push her into the courtyard to bask in the sun.
However, in the past few days, Lin Muwan had become increasingly sleepy and had a poor appetite, especially unable to stand the smell of meat. She could sneak into the kitchen to sleep with Jiang Zhou at night, but the daytime was unusually difficult to endure.
Jiang Zhou had been very busy lately, rarely home during the day, and only came back dusty and tired in the evening. As soon as she entered the house, she headed straight into the kitchen to cook. Mother Lin and Mother Jiang were both present during meals, so she didn’t have a chance to exchange more than a few words with Jiang Zhou.
It was Mother Lin who noticed her daughter’s unusual state. When they were alone, she asked, “Wanwan, are you pregnant?”
Lin Muwan’s heart skipped a beat, but she quickly felt relieved. How could that be?
Jiang Zhou was a woman. It was fine that her mother didn’t know, but she knew! How could two women have a child?
She pursed her lips and said, “Mother, that’s not true. Right now, I only want to help clear Father’s name. Other matters…”
She pursed her lips and looked away.
Mother Lin frowned. She knew her daughter’s thoughts, but they…
Seeing her daughter’s appearance, she still had to remind her, “You sleep together every day, how can it be impossible? Have her accompany you to the clinic for a check-up tomorrow.”
A light blush immediately spread across Lin Muwan’s face. She covered her lips with her hand and gave a light cough. Although she knew her mother must have been aware of her secretly going to the kitchen at night, her face still couldn’t help but turn red when Mother Lin suddenly pointed it out.
She nodded in response and changed the subject, “Mother, shall I help you go sit in the courtyard?”
Mother Lin waved her hand to stop her and sighed, “You should go rest. When I want to go, I’ll go by myself.”
“Mother…” Lin Muwan wanted to say more, but seeing Mother Lin wave her hand at her, she had no choice but to drop the matter.
Coming out of the room, she went straight to lie down on the small bed in the kitchen. The quilt was full of the woody scent from Jiang Zhou’s body, a scent that made her feel safe. She didn’t know when she had become so reliant on her. She had originally only intended to lie down for a while, but unexpectedly fell asleep without realizing it.
When Jiang Zhou returned, she saw Lin Muwan lying on her bed, curled up in her quilt, with half her face exposed. Having shed her usual cold air, she looked as docile as a kitten.
She watched for a moment, and fearing she would wake her up, she quietly backed out of the kitchen and gently closed the door.
In the courtyard, Mother Lin was sitting in her wheelchair chatting with Mother Jiang, with Zhouzhou lying between them. Mother Lin saw Jiang Zhou emerge from the kitchen, opened her mouth, and hesitated to speak.
Finally, she sighed.
Never mind, she decided to let her daughter talk to her personally.
After all, the child was a matter for the two of them, and it was awkward for her, the mother-in-law, to bring it up.
Having let loose, Mother Jiang was not as reserved in her speech as Mother Lin. She directly called Jiang Zhou over, but knowing Jiang Zhou was a woman, she didn’t consider the nature of the issue. She said, “Wanwan hasn’t seemed well lately. When you go to the county town tomorrow, take her to the clinic for a check-up.”
Jiang Zhou frowned, looked toward the kitchen, and clenched her fist.
She’s unwell?
Because of the dreams lately, she had deliberately distanced herself from Lin Muwan. They still slept together at night, yet she hadn’t noticed. A wave of remorse immediately washed over her.
She responded, “Alright, I’ll take her to see a doctor tomorrow.”
Mother Jiang looked at the sky and said, “What time is it already? Go wake Wanwan up. How can this child sleep from noon until now? How will she sleep tonight?”
Jiang Zhou’s brows furrowed tightly. She pursed her lips and pushed open the kitchen door. Lin Muwan was sitting on the edge of the bed and looked up. One stood, one sat, and their eyes met in the air.
The atmosphere instantly became a little awkward.
Jiang Zhou paused, then quickly stepped forward and reached out to put her hand on Lin Muwan’s forehead. Startled by the sudden movement, Lin Muwan instinctively leaned back, dodging her hand.
A flicker of hurt crossed Jiang Zhou’s eyes. She pulled at the corner of her mouth and said stiffly, “Mother said you weren’t feeling well, so I came to check.”
“I’m fine, you…” Lin Muwan pursed her lips, sighed softly in her heart, and looked away. Forget it, she thought, there’s nothing more to say about how busy she is.
