I Struggle to Survive in a Girl Group [Transmigration] - Chapter 57
Shen Siqi and Chu Ning were locked in a standoff when a series of soft crackles echoed through the air. Yu Tingbai strolled past as if on a casual walk, leaving a few bullets on the two who were still tangled together.
Holding her gun, she turned gracefully and voiced a concerned inquiry.
“Siqi, why are you so careless?”
Having said her piece, she knew when to stop and glided away contentedly, without pushing for a complete victory.
Leaving Shen Siqi and Chu Ning bewildered in the wind.
Chu Ning sighed and patted the person on top of her. “Get up first, take it slow.”
Shen Siqi carefully complied, and this time, she managed without any mishaps. She steadied herself and reached out to pull Chu Ning up as well.
Once Chu Ning was on her feet, she immediately dragged Shen Siqi behind a nearby cover before letting go.
She asked, “What’s your status in the group?”
Shen Siqi was taken aback, then replied with a pout, “I’m the group’s favorite.”
Chu Ning paused briefly, clearly unconvinced.
She said, “No one treats the group favorite like that.”
Shen Siqi earnestly explained, “Well, I did switch sides. The deeper the love, the fiercer the hatred.”
Chu Ning: Alright then.
After a moment’s thought, she said to Shen Siqi, “Stay right here and don’t move. I’m going out to get revenge for both of us.”
Shen Siqi looked at her with admiration, her hair disheveled and sticking to her petite face, but her eyes sparkling brightly. “How are you going to get revenge?”
Even though they were around the same age, why did the girls from other groups seem so much cuter?
Chu Ning couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, but outwardly she replied calmly, “I’m going to chase Yu Tingbai. When we pass by here later, you take the chance to shoot her, got it?”
Shen Siqi nodded vigorously. “Understood, sis!”
In the next moment, Chu Ning shot forward like an arrow released from a bow, swift as the wind.
Pressing her lips together, her gaze steady, she carved a beautiful arc across the stage.
She’s just too stunning!
Shen Siqi screamed internally, her eyes glued to Chu Ning’s direction, unwilling to even blink.
Yu Tingbai, sensing the commotion behind her, quickened her glide. The two chased each other in a loop, gradually closing in on Shen Siqi’s position.
This was her chance to prove herself and redeem her honor!
Shen Siqi, full of vigor, propped her gun on the cover and unleashed a volley of shots aimed at Yu Tingbai ahead.
But it seemed her opponent had anticipated her move. Just as she fired, Yu Tingbai ducked, and the bullets narrowly skimmed past her back.
Shen Siqi exclaimed, “Impressive! As expected of my rival!”
Her gun was now empty. She pulled a fresh pack of bullets from her pocket and was about to reload when her protective suit suddenly emitted a few thump sounds.
Several bullets had struck her.
Shen Siqi turned her head in shock to see An Qing calmly aiming her gun in her direction.
After the chase, An Qing’s hair was also slightly messy, her cheeks flushed, and her blue eyes curved into a smile.
“An Qing, how could you?” Shen Siqi accused. “Sneak attacking when I wasn’t paying attention?”
An Qing was exasperated. “I’ve been standing here watching you for 30 seconds. When were you going to notice?”
“Well, I don’t care,” Shen Siqi declared fiercely as she lunged forward. “An Qing, let’s settle this with a duel!”
An Qing took a few steps back, smoothly pivoting in a circle.
She taunted, “You can’t even catch up to me.”
“You just wait, I.” Shen Siqi roared angrily, suddenly speeding up, only to sadly realize that the distance between them was actually widening.
Forget it. Nothing in the world is difficult for one who gives up.
Shen Siqi retreated behind the barricade again. This time, having learned her lesson, she kept an eye on Chu Ning while also scanning the surroundings with her peripheral vision.
In the blink of an eye, An Qing sauntered back, sliding over effortlessly.
Before Shen Siqi could react, An Qing quickly crouched behind the barricade, right next to her.
An Qing said in a low voice, “Want to compete?”
Shen Siqi: ?
Easily swayed, she immediately became intrigued: “Compete in what?”
“Let’s call a truce for now.” An Qing pointed at Chu Ning and Yu Tingbai, whispering, “When they come over, I’ll target Chu Ning, and you target Bai Bai. Let’s see who hits more.”
An Qing’s proposal sounded quite fun.
Different teams used bullets of different colors. An Qing’s team had red, while Shen Siqi’s team had blue. Once a bullet hit the protective suit, it would stick firmly. During the final tally, only bullets from the opposing team on the protective suits would be counted, so there was no need to worry about friendly fire.
So Shen Siqi agreed without hesitation: “Deal! Bring it on!”
Her eyes were fixed intently on the two figures approaching, and her hands weren’t idle either, quickly loading a large handful of bullets into her gun.
Finally, Yu Tingbai and Chu Ning entered firing range simultaneously.
An Qing shouted, “Ready? Go!”
The two of them frantically pulled the triggers, unleashing a barrage of “rat-a-tat-tat.”
This wave of attacks was much more intense than the last, especially from Shen Siqi, who was exceptionally enthusiastic. Her fingers moved so fast they almost blurred, emptying her gun of bullets in just a few seconds.
The bullets, as expected, landed on Yu Tingbai and Chu Ning’s protective suits, and in no small number. Shen Siqi gleefully inspected her gun, confirmed that all the bullets were spent, and quickly stood up to boast to Chu Ning.
“Sis, I hit.”
Halfway through her sentence, Shen Siqi suddenly felt something was off.
Why were all the bullets on Chu Ning and Yu Tingbai’s suits red?
Where were her bullets? Her blue bullets?
Shen Siqi patted the pockets of her protective suit and, sure enough, found an entire unopened pack of blue bullets inside.
So the bullets she had loaded earlier were,
She turned her head and yelled, “An Qing! What’s going on?!”
An Qing had already run far away, shouting back at Shen Siqi, “A gift for you, no charge.”
She had taken a chance and swapped Shen Siqi’s bullets earlier. She thought she might get caught, but Shen Siqi had been so focused on Chu Ning that she hadn’t noticed anything amiss.
Shen Siqi:
Where is the trust between people?
But why has An Qing been acting more and more like Yu Tingbai lately? Bad company really does corrupt good morals!
Chu Ning looked at the bullets on her suit and couldn’t help but laugh in exasperation, “Shen Siqi, which side are you on?”
Before Shen Siqi could answer, Yu Tingbai cut in, saying meaningfully, “It seems Siqi still can’t let go of us. Her body may be in the enemy camp, but her heart remains with us.”
After a pause, she added, “I won’t hold it against you for trying to shoot me earlier.”
Shen Siqi: qaq
What’s going on? Why does it feel like I’ve managed to offend both sides at once!
Ten minutes flew by quickly. With Shen Siqi’s assistance, “Princess” unsurprisingly defeated “Destiny” and won the “Ice Escape” game.
There were three games in the indoor arena, and “Princess” won two out of three, securing the victory.
Shu Qingyu said darkly, “Captain, I think Shen Siqi can’t stay.”
Jiang Ran added, “She must be a spy sent by the other side!”
Chu Ning frowned and glanced at Shen Siqi.
The young girl looked uneasy, nervously tugging at the corner of her clothes as she whispered an explanation, “I didn’t do it on purpose. Besides, my votes don’t count toward your team anyway.”
Shu Qingyu sneered and said fiercely, “Playing the pity card, huh? Let me tell you, our captain isn’t falling for that.”
“It’s fine, just do your best,” Chu Ning completely ignored her words and patted Shen Siqi’s shoulder. “It’s just a game, no need to stress too much about it.”
Shu Qingyu: ???
What the hell is going on here?
Seeing that Shen Siqi didn’t cry, Chu Ning secretly breathed a sigh of relief and reminded her teammates, “Siqi is timid, so don’t scare her.”
Shu Qingyu:
Jiang Ran:
So, if you’re too tough, you don’t get pampered, is that it?
Originally, when “Princess” sent Shen Siqi over, the two of them felt that this clueless girl wasn’t worthy of their captain. But since things had come to this, they had to make do and try to pair her up with Chu Ning for some CP hype.
Unexpectedly, after three games, they didn’t even get a chance to assist.
But the captain always had her reasons for what she did. Either she suddenly had a change of heart and wanted to stir up some CP buzz, or she was trying to leave a good impression on the audience to boost the final vote count.
Whatever the reason, as long as Chu Ning was happy, it was fine.
“This concludes the indoor games for this episode of ‘Girl Group Showdown.’ Thank you all for watching, and please stay tuned for our outdoor segment”
Xu Die and Ji Sen smoothly delivered the closing remarks, marking the successful end of this recording.
As the audience gradually left, An Qing and the others were about to step off the stage when Xu Die called out to them.
“Wait a moment.”
Xu Die took a stack of envelopes handed to her by a staff member and winked mysteriously at the group.
“Tomorrow morning, we’ll start filming the outdoor segment. Everyone, draw your wake-up mission for tomorrow!”
The wake-up mission was a fixed part of the outdoor segment of “Girl Group Showdown.” Successfully completing it often gave contestants an advantage in the subsequent tasks.
Hearing this, everyone’s faces lit up with anticipation.
An Qing followed the crowd and randomly picked an envelope from Xu Die’s hand. Then, she dashed a few meters away, intending to read its contents alone.
The wake-up missions varied widely, and sometimes teammates’ tasks would conflict. So, usually, everyone kept their mission a secret and didn’t easily reveal it to others.
Since the guests didn’t know each other’s tasks, everyone was essentially in the dark. Unable to discuss, they blindly carried out their assigned missions, leading to frequent unexpected situations that made this segment all the more entertaining.
However, An Qing wasn’t worried. Based on past experiences, many of the tasks involved things like “sing a love song in a teammate’s ear” or “wake up any guest by splashing cold water on them.”
An Qing secretly decided that if she got any ambiguous tasks that could fuel a CP (couple pairing), she would complete them with Yu Tingbai. Even if Yu Tingbai didn’t know the task details, she would definitely cooperate. If she ended up with a prank task, she would rope in the three members of “Destiny,” or at the very least, she could turn to Shen Siqi, the little traitor.
So, with a smile and without any psychological burden, she opened the envelope, only to freeze in place the very next second.
Written clearly on the envelope was a line of text:
“Tomorrow at 5 a.m., take a loudspeaker to the hotel lobby and sell soup dumplings while live-streaming to fans on your phone.”
An Qing: “…”
Did this suit her style?
As she was inwardly struggling, a small shadow suddenly fell over her head.
Startled, An Qing quickly hid the task card. She looked up and found Shen Siqi standing in front of her, looking just as conflicted.
“An Qing, is your task easy? Do you want to swap with me?”
After a moment’s thought, An Qing still refused. “I won’t swap.”
Although her task seemed silly, it wasn’t particularly difficult and was within her comfort zone.
Shen Siqi sighed and said, “Let me ask you a question.”
An Qing looked at her curiously. “Go ahead.”
Shen Siqi sighed again, her gaze drifting to a distant point as she said wistfully, “If you wake someone with a bad temper by kissing them, will you get beaten to death?”
