I Struggle to Survive in a Girl Group [Transmigration] - Chapter 28
With a crisp “clatter,”
the dice landed on the smooth tabletop.
One pip.
Shen Siqi:
This must be fate’s arrangement she was being targeted by fate!
An Qing hurriedly said, “Siqi, let me switch with you. I’ll take the floor.”
She had checked earlier the bedding was soft and thick, so sleeping on the floor wouldn’t be a big deal. Shen Siqi, having been raised delicately, couldn’t possibly endure such discomfort.
Yu Tingbai also said, “I’ll switch.”
Yi Zhuo reassured, “Don’t worry, you won’t have to sleep on the floor.”
As expected, her status as the group’s favorite was still secure! Shen Siqi cheered up again, waving her hand dismissively. “Oh, I’m not that fragile.”
Being the youngest, she had received a lot of care from everyone. Sleeping on the floor a few times could be considered a way to repay their kindness.
She insisted, “Don’t argue anymore, or I’ll feel embarrassed.”
So the remaining four automatically split into two pairs: An Qing and Yu Tingbai in one room, Wen Ling and Yi Zhuo in the other.
An Qing asked Shen Siqi, “Which room would you like to stay in?”
Since Shen Siqi had such bad luck, she at least deserved the privilege of choosing whom to room with.
Shen Siqi thought for a moment and said, “I’ll stay with Wen Ling and the others. Tingbai doesn’t sleep well I don’t want to disturb her.”
Having spent so much time together, everyone knew about Yu Tingbai’s insomnia, so no one objected.
An Qing, exhausted from the day, could barely think straight. It wasn’t until she pushed open the guest room door that she belatedly realized she would be sharing a room and a bed with Yu Tingbai alone tonight.
This was way too thrilling!
Although they had slept together before, that time she was drunk and remembered nothing. Just thinking about what might happen later made her heart race wildly.
At that moment, Yu Tingbai’s phone, tucked in her backpack, rang. She answered it.
“Hello?”
It was the program team on the other end. Not wanting to relay the message, Yu Tingbai called the other three over, and they all listened on speakerphone.
The director briefly praised their performance that day and offered a few suggestions for the next day’s filming.
Yu Tingbai acknowledged each point, then suddenly remembered something and asked, “Are there cameras in the bedrooms we’re staying in now?”
If there were, they needed to know the exact locations so they could cover them when changing clothes or during other moments that shouldn’t be filmed.
The director replied, “There are none in the guest rooms. Rest well. However, the hotel corridors and other areas do have cameras. If any of you go out at night, you might trigger hidden storylines, which could help with clue collection.”
Even though the director said that, everyone was completely worn out. Hidden storylines could wait until tomorrow.
After hanging up, Wen Ling spoke up, “Do you think the deceased is among the three people we met today?”
Shen Siqi jumped in, “When in doubt, pick the shortest option Cole is the shortest, so I choose him.”
The others:
An Qing facepalmed. “Logically speaking, Cole seems the most normal, right? And I feel like such a large town couldn’t possibly have no other residents.”
If the deceased were among those three, the game would be way too easy.
Yu Tingbai said, “We still don’t have enough clues.”
Her gaze fell on the town map spread out on the table something they had found earlier in a drawer.
“This area is where we walked today.”
Yu Tingbai drew a circle on the map with a pencil, then divided the remaining area into two halves.
She suggested, “For the places we haven’t visited yet, how about we split into two groups tomorrow to explore and increase efficiency?”
Yi Zhuo said, “Sure, how should we split up?”
Yu Tingbai replied, “An Qing and I will definitely be in one group.”
Recently, the two of them had been promoting their CP intensely, doing everything together.
Yi Zhuo said, “Then I’ll stick with Wen Ling.”
She then asked Shen Siqi, “Who do you want to go with?”
Somehow, looking at this scene, An Qing suddenly felt a sense of “choosing between Mom and Dad.”
“I’ll go with An Qing and the others during the day,” Shen Siqi said with a shy smile, explaining, “I need to take care of both sides; otherwise, I’m afraid you’ll fight over me.”
An Qing laughed and said, “You should stay with us during the day, or I’ll miss you!”
Shen Siqi playfully winked at her. “Oh, I just can’t say no to you.”
The girls discussed the next day’s arrangements a bit more before dispersing.
Soon, only the two of them were left in the room. An Qing unconsciously grew nervous, sitting on the sofa in a well-behaved posture, not daring to move a muscle.
Yu Tingbai, on the other hand, remained perfectly calm. She opened the bathroom door and saw that all the toiletries were fully stocked, along with plenty of skincare and makeup products.
She asked An Qing, “Showering do you want to go first, or should I?”
Her long hair cascaded over her collarbones, and her dark eyes reflected the warm glow of the lights.
In this context, her words felt incredibly ambiguous. An Qing blushed deeply and murmured, “Either way, it’s up to you.”
Yu Tingbai smiled. “Then how about together?”
An Qing: !!!
Was this day finally coming?
Ever since she transmigrated, she had been prepared to sacrifice herself to survive. She had imagined this scenario countless times but never expected it to happen so soon.
In the end, she had become a little seductress using her body to keep her lover!
An Qing steadied herself and whispered, “Okay, but the underwear I’m wearing today doesn’t match.”
Upon hearing this, Yu Tingbai laughed, her lips red and teeth white.
“You’re quite particular,” she said lazily, running her fingers through her hair. “I’m just teasing you. I’ll go first.”
The bathroom door closed softly.
An Qing froze for a moment, wishing she could vanish into the ground. What kind of indecent thoughts was she having? She had even considered the details!
Frustrated with herself, after they had both finished washing up, she deliberately left most of the bed for Yu Tingbai, curling up on the edge, afraid her fiancée would see her as some kind of pervert with ulterior motives.
Yu Tingbai tied up her long hair, revealing her slender, fair neck, and sat at the desk applying a face mask.
Seeing that she wasn’t planning to come to bed just yet, An Qing secretly reached for her phone on the nightstand and opened Weibo.
An Qing switched to her alternate account and entered the CP fan community for her and Yu Tingbai.
Lately, she had been spending her free time browsing the fan community, diligently checking in and boosting posts to accumulate experience points. She had already reached level 7.
Today, the fan community was especially lively. Photos and videos of her and Yu Tingbai holding hands at the airport were everywhere, from every possible angle, dazzling to the eyes.
With a casual scroll, a whole new row of posts instantly appeared.
“It’s New Year’s Eve, it’s New Year’s Eve!”
“Did you fake falling on purpose to act cute with your sister?”
“Aren’t you two going to make it official? Yu Tingbai, you’re really holding back!”
“Any writers feeling inspired? This is great material!”
“Write it! I want to read it too!”
“I second that!”
An Qing suddenly felt a surge of excitement.
She had previously immersed herself in studying the art of writing fanfiction and was now confident in her skills, eager for an opportunity to try it out. Since everyone wanted to see it, she figured she might as well write one, how hard could it be?
An Qing stared at the screen thoughtfully for a moment, then tentatively began writing an opening.
“From the very first moment Yu Tingbai laid eyes on An Qing, she was deeply captivated by this pure, kind, beautiful, and graceful girl. She was so innocent and unaffected…”
Whether it was confessing her feelings or maintaining their engagement, An Qing had always been the one taking the initiative. Yu Tingbai had never once said she liked her, let alone mentioned marrying her. So in this fanfiction, she decided to let Yu Tingbai love her a little more.
With that thought, An Qing promptly changed her alternate account’s username to “Has Yu Tingbai Caught An Qing Today?” and let out a couple of gleeful, silly giggles as she eagerly typed away on her phone.
“The moment An Qing bumped into her, Yu Tingbai’s heartbeat suddenly quickened.”
“An Qing, why do you have to pretend to fall just to hold my hand? When will you finally understand my feelings?”
Fanfiction shouldn’t just narrate events it needs some emotional depth too.
An Qing wasn’t particularly skilled in that area, so she tried to recall some stories she’d read before, hoping for inspiration.
Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in her head as she remembered a line from one story that perfectly captured her and Yu Tingbai’s current situation.
“Unknowingly, chasing after her footsteps had become a habit.”
She could just tweak it a bit it was pretty much the same.
After a moment of contemplation, An Qing confidently typed a sentence onto the screen.
“She runs, she chases, and neither of them can escape.”
Just as An Qing was getting into the groove of writing, she suddenly heard a rustling sound behind her. Panicked, she locked her phone screen, tossed it aside, and covered half her face with the blanket, pretending she was about to fall asleep.
The bed dipped slightly as Yu Tingbai lay down. She pulled back the covers and reached over to turn off the two bedside lamps.
The room was instantly plunged into darkness, with a sliver of moonlight slipping through the gap in the curtains, casting a narrow beam of light on the floor.
An Qing lay with her back to Yu Tingbai, eyes half-closed but wide awake. The faint floral scent emanating from the other girl drifted over, wrapping around her like invisible shackles, making her limbs go numb.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of fabric rustling, and then a hand reached under her nose, gently checking her breathing.
An Qing nearly jumped out of bed in fright. She turned over, wrapping herself tightly in a corner of the blanket, and stammered, “W-what’s wrong?”
“You hadn’t taken a breath in half a minute. I was afraid you’d suffocate yourself.”
In the darkness, Yu Tingbai’s eyes sparkled with amusement.
It was only because she was so nervous! Why did this person always have to tease her?
Though her smile was undeniably beautiful.
An Qing gritted her teeth.
Yu Tingbai said, “Move over here a bit.”
What?
An Qing was almost shocked speechless, but she hesitantly complied, shifting a little closer to Yu Tingbai.
“A bit more,” Yu Tingbai explained. “There’s a draft in the blanket.”
To save on expenses, the two of them shared only one blanket. If they stayed too far apart, turning over would easily create gaps, letting the cold air seep in.
But the room was quite warm, so a little draft wasn’t too bad.
No, this strange atmosphere every time she made eye contact with Yu Tingbai, she’d get nervous.
An Qing shifted a little closer to the other person, then carefully turned back, avoiding that gaze.
Just then, an arm reached over from behind, gently encircling her.
What was going on?
An Qing’s breath hitched, hardly able to believe what was happening.
Her thoughts grew increasingly chaotic, and the first thing that popped into her mind was something the girls in the group chat had mentioned: “If you don’t mind physical contact, then there’s a chance.”
In just one day, they’d gone from holding hands to hugging did that mean she had a chance?
So she tentatively whispered, “Um, why are you hugging me? Is it because.”
Because you like me?
“It’s so dark, I think I’m a little scared.”
The arm around her tightened slightly, and a pleasant, amused female voice sounded close to her ear.
“You don’t mind, do you, my fiancée?”
