I Stole the Male Lead's White Moonlight [Transmigration] - Chapter 57
Yun Ling’s film crew quickly held a simple opening ceremony.
The first scene featured a male and a female police officer arriving at the doorstep to inform Qin Yue that her boyfriend, He Chi, had been found dead by the seaside.
Zhu Xinya had practiced countless times in private and had long internalized every detail of the script.
The filming location was a wooden house near the sea. The camera followed the two police officers as they approached the red-roofed, white-walled wooden door. The male officer asked the female officer, “Are you sure this is the place?”
The female officer nodded. “Yes.”
The male officer raised his hand and knocked three times.
With a creak, the door opened, revealing Qin Yue’s slightly pale face.
She wore her hair in a high ponytail, with no bangs, exposing her smooth forehead. Her eyebrows were finely shaped like willow leaves, and her lips were painted with lipstick, making them appear unusually vibrant.
After opening the door and seeing the two people in police uniforms, Qin Yue was visibly taken aback. With a puzzled look in her eyes, she asked, “What can I do for you?”
The male and female officers exchanged a glance. The female officer spoke gently, “Would it be convenient for us to come inside and talk?”
Qin Yue remained motionless. The female officer showed her police badge. “We’re not scammers.”
Only then did Qin Yue step aside to let them in.
The small wooden house was modest in size, with one bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. In the living room stood a folding table and two red plastic stools stacked together.
Qin Yue separated the stools and gestured for the officers to sit. “Officers, what’s this about?” she asked, pursing her lips and lowering her gaze to hide the panic in her eyes.
The female officer took the lead in communicating with Qin Yue.
“Here’s the situation: this morning, a male body was discovered by the seaside. After identification by on-site personnel, it was confirmed to be He Chi, who lives here with you.”
“Impossible!” Qin Yue gasped, a sickly flush spreading across her pale face. “He Chi went to the city early this morning to buy things. He must be on his way back right now. It can’t be him.”
The female officer looked at Qin Yue with pity, her voice growing even softer. “Qin Yue, please try to stay calm.”
The male officer took out his phone, opened the photo album, and held it in front of Qin Yue. “The body hasn’t been in the water long and hasn’t decomposed yet. Take a look, is this He Chi?”
Qin Yue stared wide-eyed at the phone screen. After a long moment, a tear fell onto the face of the man in the photo. “How, how is this possible? He Chi.”
“Cut! Good, that’s a wrap on this scene,” Yun Ling said with satisfaction.
Zhu Xinya instantly snapped out of her character’s emotions and smiled at the two actors playing the police officers. “I didn’t expect the first scene to go so smoothly.”
“That’s because of your great acting, Yaya,” said Wen Qiu, who played the female officer.
Wen Qiu was a veteran actress in the entertainment industry. It was a mystery how Yun Ling had managed to bring her on board.
Zhu Xinya beamed. “Thank you for the compliment, Sister Qiu. I never thought I’d earn your approval~”
After the morning shoot, it was time for the crew to distribute boxed lunches. Zhu Xinya nostalgically joined the line to get one, but when she returned, she found Ling Xiaoxiao had already set up a table and chairs in front of her trailer, with four steaming dishes and a soup laid out on the table.
“Yaya, come and eat,” Ling Xiaoxiao said, taking the boxed lunch from Zhu Xinya’s hands. “Did you get this for me? Thanks!”
After Zhu Xinya sat down, she asked curiously, “Xiaoxiao, how did you know what I like to eat?” The dishes on the table were all her favorites.
Ling Xiaoxiao chuckled mischievously, “I didn’t know, but Professor Que did. This is the lunch Professor Que asked me to buy for you with love, so you must eat it well.”
Zhu Xinya’s cheeks flushed slightly. “Sister is always so thoughtful.” She truly found herself loving her sister a little more every day.
“Xiaoxiao, there’s too much food here for me to finish alone. Don’t eat your boxed meal, let’s share this instead,” Zhu Xinya said, picking up her chopsticks.
Ling Xiaoxiao firmly refused, “How could I? This is Professor Que’s heartfelt gesture.”
Zhu Xinya tugged Ling Xiaoxiao to sit down. “I know it’s Sister’s kindness, but wasting food is a shame. My appetite is small anyway.”
Ling Xiaoxiao eyed the delicious-looking dishes, swallowing hard as she hesitated. “If I eat it, I’d feel like I’m wasting Professor Que’s special care for you.”
“Eat,” Zhu Xinya insisted, shoving the chopsticks into Ling Xiaoxiao’s hand.
Ling Xiaoxiao! Ling Xiaoxiao couldn’t refuse.
After the meal, Ling Xiaoxiao cleared the table and went to throw away the trash.
Zhu Xinya took out her phone and video-called Que Hanfu.
“Sister!” Zhu Xinya called out to Que Hanfu through the screen.
Que Hanfu appeared to still be in her office. Zhu Xinya asked, “Sister, have you eaten yet?”
Que Hanfu replied, “I worked a bit overtime and will go eat soon.”
“Did you like today’s meal, Yaya?” Que Hanfu inquired.
Zhu Xinya grinned sweetly. “Of course I did.”
Just then, Ling Xiaoxiao returned. Zhu Xinya said, “Sister, I couldn’t finish all the food by myself, so I shared it with Xiaoxiao.”
“Mm, it’s good not to waste,” Que Hanfu responded.
Zhu Xinya shot a triumphant glance at Ling Xiaoxiao. “See? I told you Sister wouldn’t mind.”
Ling Xiaoxiao cupped her cheeks and sighed, “No one in the world understands Professor Que better than you, Young Miss. You two are truly made for each other.”
Que Hanfu, hearing this from the other end of the call, smiled slightly. “Xiaoxiao is a responsible agent. I think she deserves a bonus.”
In the afternoon, Jiang Huai had a scene where he played a corpse.
Jiang Huai was the top actor in their company. He had joined “Love Obsession” without pay, turning down many other offers, which displeased the company’s executives. After personally discussing it with the boss, Jiang Huai managed to secure the remaining two million yuan investment for Yun Ling.
When Zhu Xinya heard about this from Jiang Huai, she admired, “I didn’t know you were so persuasive.”
Jiang Huai humbly replied, “Not at all, not at all.” In truth, the boss had a secret crush on Yun Ling and was too shy to confess, so he used Jiang Huai as an opportunity to help her out.
To convince the rest of the company, the boss guaranteed that the invested money would yield tenfold returns; otherwise, he would resign to take responsibility.
“Your boss is quite something, loyal and righteous,” Zhu Xinya remarked.
Jiang Huai said, “I think he has a chance to become my future uncle. Working at my aunt’s husband’s company would definitely be more comfortable.”
Zhu Xinya couldn’t resist dampening his spirits. “First, you’ll have to help your boss earn back twenty million for that to happen.”
Jiang Huai immediately deflated.
Trying to salvage the mood, Zhu Xinya added, “I think Director Yun has great vision. If we all work together well, not just twenty million, but even two hundred million is possible.”
Jiang Huai’s eyes lit up, and he pumped his fist with renewed determination. “You’re right, Xinya!”
During the afternoon shoot, Jianghuai perfectly played the role of a motionless corpse.
