I Stole the Male Lead's White Moonlight [Transmigration] - Chapter 44
Que Hanfu shook hands with Jin Sheng, then turned to look at Zhu Xinya who was running over. She reached out to steady her by the waist. “I was worried about you,” she said to Zhu Xinya.
Jiang Huai didn’t know who Que Hanfu was, but since Jin Sheng respectfully addressed her as Professor Que, she must be an impressive person.
Zhu Xinya called her “sister” could she be her cousin?
Hu Caicai thoughtfully suggested, “Let’s go upstairs and sit down to chat. Professor Que must be tired from standing.”
Even Jin Sheng called her Professor Que, so it should be fine for her to do the same.
The group went up the mountain and arrived at the South Mountain cabin. Jiang Huai helped Que Hanfu carry her suitcase to the second floor.
Zhu Xinya and Hu Caicai followed to help Que Hanfu tidy up the room.
The sound of the four of them clattering up the stairs woke Fan Chunyi, who had a room all to herself. She emerged with a dark expression, frowning at the cheerful chatter between Jiang Huai and Hu Caicai. “Don’t you know how to be considerate? All this noise is keeping me from resting.”
Jiang Huai barely held back an eye-roll, though her smile faded slightly. “Fan Chunyi, it’s not rest time now. We have a guest arriving, and we still need to prepare lunch and dinner.”
Hu Caicai added, “Chunyi, we’re going to the vegetable garden to pick some produce later. Why don’t you come with us?”
Fan Chunyi waved her off dismissively. “No! I’m here on vacation, not to do farm work. The contract doesn’t say I have to do any of this. Do what you want, but don’t tell me what to do.”
Que Hanfu and Zhu Xinya were still standing on the stairs, partially blocked from view by Jiang Huai and Hu Caicai. Hearing the commotion, Zhu Xinya knew Fan Chunyi was causing trouble again.
It seemed she hadn’t learned her lesson yet and still hadn’t figured out why her uncle wasn’t returning her calls.
“Fan Chunyi, it’s fine if you don’t help, but don’t expect to eat the food we prepare. If you’re so capable, figure out your own lunch and dinner. Don’t you have an investor uncle? Ask him to deliver food to you,” Zhu Xinya retorted, staying true to her character.
“You!” Fan Chunyi fumed. “You two, move aside! Let Zhu Xinya come up here. I’m calling my uncle right now, Zhu Xinya, just wait to be kicked off the show!”
Zhu Xinya smiled cheerfully from behind Jiang Huai. “Sure, I’ve been waiting all morning. I came all the way from Longcheng and still haven’t heard anything. I’m getting impatient.”
“Jiang Huai, Hu Caicai, move!” Fan Chunyi shouted, unable to contain her frustration.
Hu Caicai was shoved by Fan Chunyi and stumbled, nearly falling down the stairs. Luckily, Jiang Huai caught her in time, preventing a disaster that could have also affected Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu standing behind her.
Que Hanfu’s gaze turned icy. “Is that woman named Fan Chunyi bullying you?”
Seeing Que Hanfu’s expression, Zhu Xinya realized she didn’t remember who Fan Chunyi was. Covering her microphone, she whispered, “Sister, don’t you remember? She’s the one who tried to get close to you at the ‘Fangting’s Lost Dream’ film set. You only paid attention to me and ignored her, so of course she resents me. But I’m not afraid of her, when it comes to arguing, she’s no match for me.” By the end, Zhu Xinya’s lips curled triumphantly.
Hearing this explanation, Que Hanfu’s eyes grew even colder.
Hu Caicai was so frightened that her face turned deathly pale. Jiang Huai, disregarding Fan Chunyi for the moment, quickly helped her back to the women’s dormitory. As soon as Jiang Huai and Hu Caicai left, Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu, who had been standing on the stairs, revealed themselves. Que Hanfu’s icy gaze met Fan Chunyi’s directly.
Startled to see the person she admired, Fan Chunyi exclaimed with delight, “Hanfu, are you here for the show too?” A flush of excitement spread across her face, though it seemed somewhat unnatural.
Zhu Xinya stepped up two stairs, blocking Que Hanfu. “Weren’t you going to rest? Hurry back to your room,” she said.
Fan Chunyi frowned. “Zhu Xinya, don’t push your luck. I don’t have time for you right now. Step aside if you know what’s good for you, or do you want to leave ‘Seeing the Southern Mountains’?”
Just as Zhu Xinya was about to retort, Que Hanfu, standing behind her, took her hand. Together, they ascended the stairs and stood before Fan Chunyi, looking down at her. In a cold tone, Que Hanfu said, “Pack your things. You’ll be leaving here soon.”
Fan Chunyi froze, unable to believe what she was hearing. “I joined ‘Dreams of the Square Courtyard’ for you, only to be replaced, and now you want to remove me again? Do you really hate me that much?”
As she spoke, Fan Chunyi grew more aggrieved, tears quickly welling up in her eyes. To an outsider, it might have seemed as though Que Hanfu and Zhu Xinya had bullied her to tears.
But no matter how pitiful she felt, no one there cared.
Que Hanfu took Zhu Xinya’s hand and walked past Fan Chunyi into the women’s dormitory. Once inside, Zhu Xinya slammed the door shut with a loud “bang.”
Hu Caicai, clutching her chest worriedly, asked, “Xinya, are you and Professor Que okay?”
Zhu Xinya replied, “Don’t worry, Fan Chunyi won’t get the better of me. As for Sister, there’s no way she’d let herself be bullied. With me here, no one can bully her.”
Hearing Zhu Xinya’s words, the coldness in Que Hanfu’s expression softened slightly.
Zhu Xinya said, “Sister, rest for a while. I’ll help you tidy your bed and luggage.”
Que Hanfu nodded. “I need to make a call.”
Jiang Huai, feeling out of place in the women’s dormitory, said, “It’s not convenient for me to stay here. I’ll go downstairs to find Teacher Jin. Call me if you need anything.”
Hu Caicai and Zhu Xinya nodded. “Go ahead, go ahead.”
Que Hanfu walked to the window, took out her phone, and pressed a few keys. When the call connected, she said in a low voice, “Who approved Fan Chunyi as a guest? Have her leave, or I’ll withdraw my investment. I don’t need an explanation. That’s it.” With that, she hung up.
Hu Caicai, sitting near the window, overheard a few words unintentionally. She thought to herself that Professor Que’s background might be even more formidable than Zhu Xinya’s. She wondered who Que Hanfu had called to demand Fan Chunyi’s removal.
A short while later, Director Park knocked and entered the room, providing Hu Caicai with the answer to her question.
Director Park walked directly to Que Hanfu, a warm smile on his face. Hu Caicai could see a hint of ingratiation in his eyes.
Ingratiation? Director Park was looking at Que Hanfu with ingratiation?!
Hu Caicai was stunned.
Director Park said, “Professor Que, it’s not that we don’t support your suggestion, but we’re in a difficult position. Fan Chunyi’s uncle is one of the show’s investors. If Fan Chunyi leaves, her uncle will certainly be unhappy. If he withdraws his investment, we won’t be able to continue filming.”
Que Hanfu replied, “Investment isn’t an issue. If he withdraws, I’ll cover it. Fan Chunyi must leave.”
Director Park’s eyes lit up, and he gritted his teeth before saying, “Alright, Professor Que, I’ll go talk to Manager Liu about this right away.”
“Mm,” Que Hanfu responded indifferently with a slight nod. “Thank you for your trouble.”
“No trouble at all, it’s what we should do,” Director Park replied with a smile. “Professor Que, I’ll take my leave now.”
After Director Park left, Hu Caicai was so shocked that her jaw nearly dropped.
It was the first time she had ever seen a guest whom the director had to flatter.
She had no idea what the two had discussed earlier, but Director Park’s smile at the end was incredibly ingratiating.
Hu Caicai stood up from the bed and offered, “Xinya, let me help you tidy up.”
Zhu Xinya replied, “Sit down and don’t move. You’re so pale, it would be too much to ask for your help.”
Hu Caicai patted the area below her collarbone. “I’m fine now, really. I was just startled earlier, but I’m not that delicate.”
Hu Caicai insisted on helping, so Zhu Xinya had no choice but to agree. Making the bed and putting on the duvet cover were indeed easier with two people.
After Director Park left, Que Hanfu made two more phone calls. When she returned, she found that Zhu Xinya and Hu Caicai had already finished making the bed.
Que Hanfu patted Zhu Xinya’s head and said to Hu Caicai, “Thank you.”
Hu Caicai quickly replied, “No need to thank me, it’s the least I could do.”
Oh my gosh, the person Director Park was flattering just thanked me. Professor Que is so down-to-earth!
Zhu Xinya said to Que Hanfu, “Caicai is really kind, thoughtful, and gentle.”
Que Hanfu’s gaze sharpened as she glanced at Hu Caicai. “Is that so?”
Hu Caicai suddenly felt a chill.
“I’ll head downstairs now. Xinya, why don’t you stay with Professor Que and rest for a bit?” Hu Caicai’s intuition told her to leave quickly this place felt dangerous.
Hu Caicai walked out of the room and thoughtfully closed the door behind her.
Zhu Xinya found two objects to cover the cameras, then walked over to Que Hanfu and wrapped her arms around her slender waist. “Sister, I wanted to hug you the moment I saw you, but there were so many people and cameras around.”
Que Hanfu leaned down and kissed Zhu Xinya’s eyelashes. “From now on, hug me whenever you want. I’ll have Director Park cut those scenes out.”
Zhu Xinya realized that Que Hanfu was becoming increasingly indulgent toward her. No matter what she wanted to do, Que Hanfu would always support her and ease her worries.
Zhu Xinya lifted her head and kissed Que Hanfu’s red lips. “Sister, you’re so good to me. Not only do I want to be with you in this lifetime, but in the next life and the one after that, I want to be with you forever, never apart.”
Que Hanfu replied seriously, “Alright, I promise you. If there is a next life, I will be with Yaya forever, never apart.”
Zhu Xinya excitedly clung to Que Hanfu, kissing her passionately. She absolutely adored her sister’s earnest demeanor.
When Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu went downstairs, Jiang Huai noticed Zhu Xinya’s slightly swollen lips and enthusiastically asked, “Xinya, are there mosquitoes in your room? Your lips are all swollen. I have some ointment in my room, do you want to use it?”
Hu Caicai interjected, “That can’t be. The first thing Xinya did when she entered the room was spray insect repellent. How could there still be mosquitoes?”
Neither Jiang Huai nor Hu Caicai had ever been in a relationship, so they didn’t understand why Zhu Xinya’s lips were swollen. Only Jin Sheng glanced meaningfully at Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu’s tightly clasped hands.
