I Stole the Male Lead's White Moonlight [Transmigration] - Chapter 38
Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu had filming scheduled at Fengruo Studios over the weekend, followed by classes from Monday to Friday, so they set their meeting for the following weekend Que Hanfu suggested they go gift shopping on Saturday.
After informing her parents about her relationship with Que Hanfu, Zhu Xinya felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders. On Saturday morning, Que Hanfu picked her up right outside the Zhu family villa. Since they hadn’t formally met her parents yet, Que Hanfu didn’t step inside.
Zhu Xinya bounced out, opened the car door, and slipped into the passenger seat. Before even saying a word, she broke into a smile, her eyes sparkling like autumn waters. She reached out to wrap her arms around Que Hanfu’s neck. “Sis, I missed you so much.”
Zhu Xinya had an affectionate, clingy nature once she grew close to someone, she loved to stick to them like glue.
Que Hanfu was taken aback for a moment, a gentle warmth softening her usually cool gaze. She ruffled Zhu Xinya’s hair and said, “Silly, we just saw each other yesterday.”
Zhu Xinya leaned over her, lowering her head to gaze intently at Que Hanfu’s red lips. “Sis, can I kiss you?”
Though phrased as a question, Zhu Xinya didn’t wait for an answer. Like a little rogue, she closed her eyes and pressed her lips to Que Hanfu’s.
In the confined space, Que Hanfu had no time to dodge and was caught in a surprise kiss.
Their soft lips brushed, a sweet atmosphere flowing between them. Zhu Xinya pulled back slightly, cheeks flushed, and murmured, “I should’ve stolen the household register first, married you, and then told my parents.”
A faint blush tinged the corners of Que Hanfu’s eyes, her pale skin radiating warmth. Her lips, moist and slightly swollen from the kiss, curved as she pinched Zhu Xinya’s cheek. “Then your parents would definitely dislike me.”
Worried she might crush Que Hanfu, Zhu Xinya settled back into her seat. “Let’s get our marriage license right after meeting them next week!”
Que Hanfu: “Yaya, why are you in such a hurry?” She had thought she would be the impatient one, but it turned out Yaya was even more eager.
Zhu Xinya blinked innocently. “I’m not in a hurry. I just want us to be together legally. I’ve already decided on you, what difference does a little time make? Since it doesn’t matter, isn’t it better to do it sooner?” She tried to muddle Que Hanfu’s reasoning.
A flicker of amusement crossed Que Hanfu’s calm, steady eyes. “You’re right, Yaya.”
Zhu Xinya buckled her seatbelt. “Let’s go, let’s go!”
After two intense days of filming, Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu successfully wrapped up their scenes. The director specially held a wrap party for them. All the actors in the crew came to toast Que Hanfu. After two drinks, her thoughts began to slow, though outwardly she showed no signs of being drunk.
Zhu Xinya, sitting beside her, was the first to notice something was off.
Usually, Que Hanfu maintained a cool, aloof demeanor around others. Now, while she appeared just as composed, her hand was wandering mischievously under the table, stroking Zhu Xinya’s thigh.
Zhu Xinya leaned close to Que Hanfu’s reddened ear and whispered, “Sis, we’re in public. Be careful.”
Que Hanfu turned her head and glanced at her. “Careful about what?” Then she turned back as if nothing was wrong, her hand not only continuing but exploring further.
Zhu Xinya: “…” Well, Hanfu was definitely drunk. When sober, she was much more reserved only when pushed to her limits would she kiss her.
After that, whenever someone came to toast Que Hanfu, Zhu Xinya would directly take the glass and drink it on her behalf. Soon, her fair, delicate face was flushed with two rosy patches of intoxication.
People whose faces turn red when drinking are actually less likely to get drunk.
Zhu Xinya drank one glass after another, and by the end, she only felt slightly dizzy.
Meanwhile, Que Hanfu beside her never once moved her hand away.
After the wrap party ended, everyone, slightly tipsy, came to bid farewell to Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu. Que Hanfu sat to the side, her eyes lowered, saying nothing. No one dared to force her to speak. Zhu Xinya, on the other hand, was quite different her little mouth chattered away, leaving everyone in high spirits as they departed.
Eventually, only three people remained in the private room. Qi Zhou coughed lightly and approached somewhat awkwardly, saying, “Where are you staying? Let me take you back.”
Zhu Xinya always felt a bit guilty around Qi Zhou. After all, aside from Que Hanfu herself, no one failed to notice that Qi Zhou had feelings for her. If Qi Zhou ever found out about her relationship with Que Hanfu, she wasn’t sure if he would react angrily and cut ties.
Zhu Xinya thought it best to tell Lu Mengrou first and see if she had any advice.
After all, no one understands a “son” better than their “mother.”
Zhu Xinya said, “It’s fine, we’re staying right nearby. It’s just a short walk.”
Out of the corner of her eye, Zhu Xinya spotted a figure and said to Qi Zhou, “Your assistant is waiting for you. You should head back, no need to worry about us.”
Qi Zhou hesitated, “I saw you drank quite a bit, and Hanfu doesn’t hold her liquor well.”
“Sis isn’t drunk, right, sis?” Zhu Xinya nudged Que Hanfu beside her.
Que Hanfu turned her head slightly to look over. Her icy eyes were now veiled with a faint haze. “Not drunk.”
Zhu Xinya’s heart tightened. If Qi Zhou looked closely, he would surely notice something off about Que Hanfu.
Fortunately, Qi Zhou only glanced briefly at Que Hanfu before turning away, his ears reddening. He hurriedly said, “That’s good then. I’ll be off. Let’s catch up another time.”
After Qi Zhou left, Zhu Xinya poured herself a cup of tea and sipped it slowly, feeling her mind clear up a bit. She stood up from her seat, only to find that Que Hanfu’s hand still hadn’t moved, it had just shifted from a hidden position to a more obvious one.
Zhu Xinya was relieved she had waited until everyone left before getting up. Otherwise, once Que Hanfu sobered up tomorrow, she would surely regret it.
“Sis, let’s go home. Can you stand up on your own?” Zhu Xinya waved her hand in front of Que Hanfu’s face and asked.
Que Hanfu didn’t speak but propped one hand on the table and slowly rose to her feet. “Yes.”
Once Que Hanfu stood up, her hand could no longer reach Zhu Xinya’s leg, and she frowned slightly.
Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu walked back to their nearby accommodation.
Que Hanfu seemed perfectly normal her gait was steady, her expression unchanged. If not for her actions during the banquet, Zhu Xinya would have had a hard time noticing anything amiss.
Back in the bedroom, Zhu Xinya caught a whiff of the lingering smell of smoke and alcohol on them and sneezed, irritated by the scent.
“Sis, I’ll run a bath for you. You should be able to bathe yourself, right?” Zhu Xinya asked.
Que Hanfu gave her a faint glance. “Yes.”
After filling the tub, Zhu Xinya called out to Que Hanfu from the bathroom, “Sis, you can come in now.”
Zhu Xinya placed everything Que Hanfu might need beside the bathtub, ensuring she wouldn’t have trouble reaching anything while using it.
Zhu Xinya finished arranging everything and stood up to leave, but as she reached the bathroom door, she came face to face with Que Hanfu.
Que Hanfu was still wearing the same clothes that reeked of smoke and alcohol, her shirt buttoned all the way to the top, not revealing even a hint of her collarbone.
She looked down at Zhu Xinya with an indifferent gaze.
For some reason, Zhu Xinya felt a little nervous. She swallowed and asked, “Sister, why haven’t you changed your clothes?”
Que Hanfu placed a hand on Zhu Xinya’s slender shoulder, turning her halfway around to face the bathroom, and said slowly, “You help me change.”
“Ah?” Zhu Xinya’s face flushed bright red, and her ears, peeking out from her black hair, felt as if they were on fire. “You should be able to change by yourself, right? I’ve never helped anyone change clothes before.” she stammered, her voice trembling.
They hadn’t even registered their marriage yet. If she stayed in the bathroom, she wouldn’t be able to control herself.
That absolutely wouldn’t do.
Zhu Xinya wanted to turn and leave, but Que Hanfu’s hand remained firmly on her shoulder, making it impossible for her to move.
“Sister, can I leave after helping you change?” Zhu Xinya asked softly, unable to turn around and facing away from Que Hanfu.
“Sure,” Que Hanfu replied with a single word, then gently pushed Zhu Xinya into the bathroom, closed the door, and turned her to face herself.
The next morning, Zhu Xinya rubbed her eyes and sat up in bed. As the blanket slipped off her body, she suddenly felt a chill. Looking down, she immediately pulled the blanket back up.
Why? Why wasn’t she wearing any pajamas???
What had happened last night?
“Good morning, Yaya,” Que Hanfu said as she walked in from outside, dressed in workout clothes. “I was just about to call you for breakfast, but I didn’t expect you to be awake already.”
Zhu Xinya looked at Que Hanfu suspiciously. Que Hanfu’s expression was as calm as ever, but when she noticed Zhu Xinya’s gaze, her cool eyes turned to her. “Is something wrong?”
Zhu Xinya glanced down at her pale shoulder. “Did we do anything last night?”
No matter how hard she tried to recall, Zhu Xinya’s last memory from the previous night was of Que Hanfu asking her to help change her clothes. The steam in the bathroom had made her dizzy, and she couldn’t remember anything after that, why she hadn’t worn pajamas to bed, or what had happened next.
Que Hanfu unzipped her white workout jacket, took it off, and placed it aside. Her voice carried a hint of indifference. “I don’t know. I was drunk. When I woke up this morning, I wasn’t wearing pajamas either.” Her ears tinged with a faint blush.
Zhu Xinya hugged the blanket tightly, her eyes fixed on Que Hanfu. “Sister, you’re acting very strange today~”
Que Hanfu put on a red jacket. “I’m perfectly normal, just like every other day.”
Zhu Xinya was speechless. So normal that she forgot to shower before changing jackets?
Although she felt something was off about Que Hanfu, Zhu Xinya could tell that her own body felt completely normal, as if nothing had happened the night before.
Knowing that Que Hanfu wouldn’t tell her anything even if she asked again, Zhu Xinya asked her to pass over some clothes to change into.
As Que Hanfu watched Zhu Xinya head to the bathroom to wash up, her tense body relaxed slightly.
She would never tell Zhu Xinya the truth.
After Zhu Xinya had helped her undress the previous night, Que Hanfu had also taken off Zhu Xinya’s clothes and pulled her into the shower to wash together again.
