I Stole the Male Lead's White Moonlight [Transmigration] - Chapter 27
Que Hanfu knew Zhu Xinya was acting, yet seeing her wear such an expression for someone else still stirred a deep jealousy within her.
Standing coldly to the side, Que Hanfu fixed her gaze on Zhu Xinya’s scumbag fiancé.
Li Heng, dressed impeccably, walked up to Zhu Xinya with a pained expression and raised his hand as if to pat her head.
Que Hanfu’s gaze instantly turned icy, piercing through him like shards of frost.
Li Heng’s hand froze mid-air, and in the end, he refrained from making any intimate gestures toward Zhu Xinya in Que Hanfu’s presence.
Li Heng said gently, “Yaya, why did you come to the film set to act? How could you not tell me about such a big incident?”
Having caught sight of the unattainable crush of his dreams, Li Heng couldn’t help but glance at Que Hanfu after speaking, a flicker of hidden emotion flashing in his eyes.
Zhu Xinya bit her lower lip and replied with a grievance, “I wanted to surprise you, but who knew something like this would happen? Please don’t scold me anymore, alright.”
“Li Heng, it’s not convenient to talk here. Let’s go inside the film studio to discuss,” Zhu Xinya suggested.
Li Heng nodded, “Alright, but before we go in, Yaya, aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?”
Qi Zhou, noticing the sudden appearance of a refined and handsome man who seemed very familiar with Zhu Xinya, turned to Lu Mengrou and said, “The matter of the ‘mom fan’ isn’t over yet. I’ll talk to you later.”
As Qi Zhou started walking toward Li Heng, Lu Mengrou quickly grabbed him. “Qi Zhou, don’t go over there just yet.”
“Why not?” He had heard the man ask Zhu Xinya to introduce her friends. What if he took a liking to Que Hanfu? The man looked decent enough wouldn’t that mean he’d have another competitor?
Lu Mengrou leaned in and whispered, “He’s Yaya’s fiancé.”
Qi Zhou looked at her. “Really?” He breathed a sigh of relief. One less threatening competitor was always a good thing.
Lu Mengrou nodded, “But he’s not a good person. Yaya wants to break off the engagement, so don’t go causing trouble. Be careful not to ruin her plans.”
Qi Zhou: “…” Well, he’s a potential competitor then. Better nip this in the bud!
Qi Zhou swept his bangs aside with a flick of his hand. “Me, ruin things? Impossible.”
With that, he strode over to Li Heng.
If he’s a bad person, then it’s even more important to keep him from meeting Que Hanfu.
He had to stop it!
“Hey!” Lu Mengrou, worried that Qi Zhou might cause trouble without thinking, hurried after him.
As a devoted “mom fan,” Lu Mengrou was constantly worrying about the troublemaker Qi Zhou.
Qi Zhou grinned broadly as he approached Li Heng and casually slapped him on the shoulder. Having learned from Lu Mengrou that Li Heng was no good, Qi Zhou didn’t hold back. The slap left his own palm tingling Li Heng must have felt even worse.
“So you’re Zhu Xinya’s fiancé! I’ve heard so much about you. I’m Qi Zhou, a good friend of Zhu Xinya’s and a big star. You must have heard of me, right? I’m the male lead of the ‘Fangting’s Forgotten Dream’ crew.”
Li Heng frowned at the slap, his expression displeased. “Sir, I don’t believe we’ve met.”
“Hey, no worries if you don’t know me. Didn’t you just say you wanted Zhu Xinya to introduce you to some friends? Well, that’s me,” Qi Zhou patted his chest proudly. “I’m Qi Zhou, the future superstar. Let me tell you, you’ve hit the jackpot getting to know me before I make it big.”
Without waiting for Li Heng to respond, Qi Zhou slung an arm around his shoulder in a familiar manner, muscles tensing to prevent any escape. “Classmate Zhu Xinya, your fiancé is quite shy, isn’t he? Too embarrassed to speak. Why don’t you introduce him to me?”
Zhu Xinya watched Li Heng trapped in Qi Zhou’s grip, his face flushed red as he struggled in vain, and nearly broke character laughing. She quickly lowered her head and feigned a delicate cough. “This is Li Heng, my fiancé. I never expected you two to hit it off so well right from the start this is wonderful.” Her eyes sparkled brightly.
If Qi Zhou had any standout qualities, it was his brute strength and thick skin. He laughed heartily. “We really do click. The moment I saw your fiancé, I felt like I’d met him somewhere before. Too bad I’m no Jia Baoyu, and your fiancé is no Lin Daiyu.”
Zhu Xinya said cheerfully, “Li Heng is so happy his face is all red. He rarely reacts this strongly, it seems you two really connected at first sight.”
Lu Mengrou, noticing the occasional glances from passersby, hurriedly added, “Yes, yes, we’re all thrilled you two hit it off. But it’s too crowded here, and Li Heng probably doesn’t want to chat with a future superstar like Qi Zhou right at the Fengruo Film Studio entrance. Let’s hurry to the set.”
“Alright,” Zhu Xinya replied with a genuinely pleased expression, her voice soft and gentle. “Li Heng, Qi Zhou is my good friend, and you’re my fiancé. Nothing makes me happier than seeing you two get along. I’m really glad today thank you for coming to the studio to see me.”
She then turned and wrapped her arms around Que Hanfu’s, giving them a light shake. Out of Li Heng’s sight, she playfully winked at Que Hanfu. “Sis, let’s go.”
Qi Zhou had been a huge help she had no intention of introducing Que Hanfu to Li Heng.
Forced along by Qi Zhou’s firm grip, Li Heng seethed with silent fury. Yet, with Que Hanfu nearby, he had to maintain his image in her eyes and reluctantly followed.
The five of them returned to the set. Since Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu’s dressing room was too small, Qi Zhou led them straight to his private one.
Only after they entered did he finally release his hold.
Li Heng’s shoulder blade had nearly been crushed during the walk. The moment Qi Zhou let go, he swayed slightly, letting out a muffled groan. Beads of cold sweat dotted his forehead, his face flushed but lips pale.
He shot a dark glare at Qi Zhou’s back as the latter went to fetch teacups and pour water.
Qi Zhou, huh? The future superstar? Hah, you won’t get another chance in the entertainment industry!
Qi Zhou had walked so briskly that by the time he’d set four cups of hot water on the table, Zhu Xinya and the other two had just entered.
Spotting Que Hanfu, Li Heng quickly straightened up, masking his pain with a charming smile.
“Yaya…” Li Heng, still unwilling to give up, tried once more to get Zhu Xinya to introduce Que Hanfu to him.
“Hey, come sit down quickly!” Qi Zhou called out with a bright smile, his voice easily drowning out Li Heng’s gentle tone.
“Wow! Qi Zhou prepared hot water for us!” Lu Mengrou exclaimed excitedly.
Judging solely by her tone, one might think Qi Zhou had prepared not just hot water, but freshly brewed bird’s nest soup.
Truly a devoted fan unconditionally doting on her favorite!
Li Heng was collectively ignored by them, nearly losing his composure. Fortunately, Zhu Xinya hadn’t forgotten him.
His gentle, obedient fiancée said softly, “Li Heng, hurry over. You and Qi Zhou hit it off so well, you should have a good chat.”
Li Heng: “…” He was utterly sick of the phrase “hit it off”!
Who in their right mind would hit it off with that big fool!
Que Hanfu walked over and said calmly, “Whatever you have to say, save it for when we’re seated.”
Zhu Xinya immediately nodded. “Mhm, I’m coming right away.”
“Li Heng, hurry up,” Zhu Xinya urged in a low voice.
Li Heng hadn’t quite recovered yet, but under Que Hanfu’s gaze, he couldn’t afford to show weakness.
He knew that to pluck this unattainable flower, he had to become exceptionally strong.
Li Heng’s gentle voice trembled slightly. “Alright, I’m coming.”
After speaking, he glanced at Que Hanfu to gauge her reaction.
Que Hanfu didn’t grant him so much as a glance.
Li Heng felt a twinge of disappointment, but he had anticipated this outcome and wasn’t entirely unprepared.
Que Hanfu seemed to be on good terms with Zhu Xinya. Once Zhu Xinya introduced him, Que Hanfu might finally look at him properly.
The mere thought of his reflection appearing in Que Hanfu’s indifferent eyes made Li Heng restless.
But it wasn’t the right time yet. He had to be patient and not let his emotions show. Li Heng struggled to suppress his desires.
Li Heng’s soul was twisted, he didn’t need Que Hanfu’s love; it was enough for him to love her.
He only needed to occupy her gaze, to be the sole focus of her attention, forever.
Enduring the pain in his shoulder, Li Heng walked step by step to the sofa, maintaining a gentle smile on his face all the while. Beads of sweat trickled down his temples, dampening his hairline.
Qi Zhou said enthusiastically, “Everyone, have some water.”
By the time Li Heng, sweating profusely, took a seat on the single-person sofa, Lu Mengrou, Zhu Xinya, and Que Hanfu were already sipping water from their cups. One last cup remained on the coffee table. Just as Li Heng reached for it, Qi Zhou intercepted.
“Look at you, sweating from the heat. You shouldn’t drink hot water, let me have it for you.” Of the five people present, Qi Zhou had talked the most and was already parched. He gulped down the entire cup of warm water in one go.
After snatching Li Heng’s water, Qi Zhou still wasn’t done. He continued, “No offense, but your physique is really weak. You’re drenched in sweat after just a short walk could it be kidney deficiency? That’s no small matter for a man. I have a relative who’s a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, specializing in kidney deficiency, male infertility, and prostate issues. I’ll give you his number later. If you’re sick, you should seek treatment promptly, don’t avoid seeing a doctor out of embarrassment.”
Qi Zhou spoke with grave concern, and Li Heng could no longer maintain his usual gentle expression.
He couldn’t understand why Qi Zhou was targeting him when the two had never met before.
Hearing Qi Zhou’s words, Zhu Xinya immediately set down her cup and began playing the part of the perfect fiancée.
Zhu Xinya’s delicate face was filled with worry, her beautiful eyes brimming with tears. “Li Heng, it’s all my fault for not noticing your kidney deficiency. Don’t worry, even if you’re infertile, I won’t leave you. I’ll take a day off tomorrow and go with you to see the traditional Chinese medicine doctor.”
“Qi Zhou, could you please send me the old doctor’s phone number?” Zhu Xinya blinked, and tears cascaded down, dampening the front of her clothes.
Qi Zhou replied, “No need to be polite. I’ll send it to you right now.”
“Thank you so much. If it weren’t for you, Li Heng, he,” Zhu Xinya sobbed, her voice choked with emotion, unable to continue.
Lu Mengrou chimed in supportively, “Yaya, you truly are my best friend so loyal and devoted. Even knowing your future husband has kidney deficiency, you’re sticking by him. Li Heng, you must cherish such a wonderful girl.”
Que Hanfu added with an air of haughtiness, “Yaya is excellent. Don’t you dare make her unhappy.”
Li Heng nearly spats out a mouthful of blood. With each of them chiming in one after another, they had firmly cemented the idea of his kidney deficiency even Que Hanfu was utterly convinced.
His face darkened, and he shot up from the sofa. “I’m going to the restroom,” he declared before striding out of Qi Zhou’s dressing room.
