I Secretly Read My Boss' Diary (GL) - Chapter 25
December 15th: The Day I Got Mad at Silly
It snowed today. I followed behind Silly, wrapped in a thick scarf, worried she might slip. I thought she’d head straight back to the dormitory after class like usual, but Silly did something unexpected. As soon as she stepped out, she joined a boy I’d never seen before and headed toward the playground.
Afraid Silly would notice me, I kept my distance, trailing behind them. But with so many people playing in the snow, they probably wouldn’t spot me.
Seeing Silly walk arm-in-arm with the boy, laughing happily, made my heart ache. I considered turning away to avoid the pain, but when I reached the edge of the playground, I couldn’t help but stop.
Then I did something incredibly childish. I packed a snowball and hurled it at the back of the boy’s head. Maybe I threw it too hard, because when he spun around, red-faced with anger, I pretended I’d just happened by, clasped my hands, and headed back to the dormitory.

Yan Zhao held the diary, imagining the incredibly childish behavior of its owner, and couldn’t help but chuckle. She really couldn’t fathom how such a stuffy person could act so immature. But now, after smashing the diary, she wondered if the silly girl and that boy would still continue their stroll on the playground.
Probably not, huh…
Come to think of it, the diary’s owner was utterly devoted to the person she liked. Even when she saw her crush on a date with another guy, she vented her frustration by throwing snowballs, but only at the other guy. At the end of the day, she was afraid of hurting the silly girl she cared about.
Suddenly, a wave of melancholy washed over her, for the diary’s owner, and also for herself—the “silly” girl Gong Muyu had called her.
That day, after eavesdropping on Gong Muyu’s conversation with Sun Yiming, Yan Zhao suddenly didn’t want to see Gong Muyu anymore. She considered taking a taxi home. But just as she emerged from the restroom, Gong Muyu blocked the door, holding her bag.
Yan Zhao knew Gong Muyu was leaving and didn’t want to talk to her. She took the bag and silently followed behind Gong Muyu, head lowered.
Gong Muyu noticed Yan Zhao’s mood seemed off. She asked if something was wrong, but Yan Zhao just mumbled that her period was painful and she didn’t feel like talking. Gong Muyu didn’t suspect anything. She left Sun Yiming at the hotel and drove Yan Zhao home.
The two-week holiday stretched on endlessly. Yan Zhao, exhausted from lack of sleep and her period, spent the entire time eating and sleeping, treating herself like a pig.
During this time, Dong Wan sent her a message asking if they wanted to go out together, but Yan Zhao declined. Gong Muyu also texted to ask how she was feeling, but Yan Zhao ignored it. Fortunately, Gong Muyu wasn’t the type to persist and didn’t bother her again after being ignored.
However, the leisurely holiday passed quickly, and the seven days vanished in the blink of an eye.
Yan Zhao dragged herself out of bed and trudged to the company like a wandering soul.
The Operations Department colleagues all looked listless, as if they’d grown accustomed to their carefree days off. After greeting everyone, Yan Zhao headed toward the General Manager’s Office.
As she reached the door, Gong Muyu’s words from that day suddenly resurfaced in her mind: Yan Zhao is just a fool.
Yan Zhao paused, her foot hovering mid-air as she hesitated to step inside. She glanced back at the empty desk where she had been sitting outside, and finally decided she couldn’t bear to burden Gong Muyu with the constant company of this “fool” any longer.
With her resolve firm, Yan Zhao clasped her hands and approached Liu Yiyang. She patted his shoulder and said, “Brother, could I ask you a favor?”
“Brother Zhao, just give the order. I’ll do anything for you!” Liu Yiyang cupped his hands toward Yan Zhao, his expression solemn.
Yan Zhao couldn’t help but feel a twinge of exasperation at his goofy demeanor. Unable to resist, she spun his chair around to face Dong Wan.
“Hey! What are you doing?!”
Liu Yiyang startled at Yan Zhao’s sudden movement. After regaining his balance, he turned and shouted at her.
“Serves you right! She was trying to have a proper conversation with you, and you had to be so cheeky!” Dong Wan scolded.
After receiving Dong Wan’s glare, Liu Yiyang chuckled awkwardly and fell silent. Turning to Yan Zhao, he asked, “What do you need?”
“Help me move my computer out of General Manager Mu’s office. The CHI project is mostly settled now, and staying in the same office as her any longer would drive me insane.”
As Yan Zhao finished speaking, the other members of the Operations Department turned to look at her.
“What are you all staring at? Hurry up and help me move it!”
With that, Yan Zhao grabbed Liu Yiyang by the shoulder and dragged him into the General Manager’s Office.
After Yan Zhao and Liu Yiyang had moved everything out, Sister V approached Yan Zhao with a worried expression. “Did you inform General Manager Mu before moving out?” she asked.
Seeing Yan Zhao shake her head, Sister V continued, “Isn’t it impolite to move without saying anything? What if General Manager Mu gets angry? At least wait until she arrives and tell her before moving anything.”
“It’s fine. It’ll be the same if we wait until she comes,” Yan Zhao replied.
By the time Gong Muyu arrived, Yan Zhao had already moved out. What could Gong Muyu possibly do—make her move back? Surely the General Manager wouldn’t stoop to arguing with a silly person like her.
In reality, Yan Zhao had underestimated Gong Muyu’s stubbornness in certain matters.
After enduring the end of the holiday, she had imagined walking into the office to see Yan Zhao smiling and greeting her. But when she entered, Yan Zhao was sitting outside the General Manager’s Office. Gong Muyu froze momentarily before her expression darkened.
Passing by Yan Zhao with her bag, she acted as if the woman didn’t exist. Yan Zhao, secretly watching Gong Muyu out of the corner of her eye, felt a flicker of relief at the other’s expression, yet also an indescribable sense of loss.
She had expected Gong Muyu to storm over and scold her for moving out, but instead, the General Manager treated her as if she were invisible. Watching Gong Muyu stride into the office and slam the door shut, Yan Zhao leaned back in her chair with a sigh of relief. She stared blankly at the ceiling until Zhang Sheng’s face suddenly appeared in her line of sight.
“Sleeping on the job again? Are you trying to get invited for tea again?”
Yan Zhao stared intently at Zhang Sheng’s pale, chubby face, then slowly rolled her eyes.
Seeing Yan Zhao ignore him, Zhang Sheng clicked his tongue. “Don’t roll your eyes at me! You’re one of those people who only remembers the food, not the beating. You’ve just been transferred out of the General Manager’s Office, and you’re already causing trouble again! Do you want a second trip to the disciplinary office?”
“Can’t you show me a little kindness?” Yan Zhao suddenly felt a pang of resentment.
“Well, you need to start performing properly!”
Frustrated, Zhang Sheng tapped her forehead. Just as he was about to continue lecturing her, his phone rang from his pocket. He glared at Yan Zhao, then pulled it out to see Gong Muyu’s name on the caller ID.
Zhang Sheng answered immediately, then froze upon hearing Gong Muyu’s words.
“Ah, the network in your office is down?”
This is my first serious attempt at writing yaoi. Honestly, I’ve never encountered such warm-hearted little angels on the yaoi channel… I truly feel incredibly fortunate!
So, regardless of whether you’ll continue supporting me after Saturday, I’ll still strive to update daily. Since my modern setting writing speed is terrible, and I need to prepare for the update after tomorrow, I won’t be updating tomorrow. Instead, I’ll double-update on Sunday to make it up to everyone!
