I Reloaded the Save File! [Transmigration] - Chapter 30
“What did you do to the City Lord!” The person leading the group was a man dressed in a Taoist-style robe, with a long beard on his chin and a few strands of pure white hair near his temples.
“Who are you people? Does what I did to the City Lord concern you?” Yun Yu asked. If her senses were correct, the man before her was a late Nascent Soul stage cultivator, subtly exerting a pressure on her.
“I am the Great Elder of the Wuding Sect. Maple Flower City and the Wuding Sect are allies, and it is naturally our duty to assist an ally in distress,” the Great Elder said, watching Yun Yu warily. “And you, who are you?”
“Senior Brother, I recognize one of them,” a young-looking woman behind the Great Elder spoke up. Her gaze settled on Yun He, and a slight smile appeared in her eyes.
“If I recall correctly, you told me your name was Yun He, didn’t you?” the woman asked.
Swoosh. Most of the attention at the scene immediately shifted to Yun He.
Yun He blinked blankly, carefully identifying the person in front of her. “You know me? When did we meet?”
“About a month ago, you encountered me by the river and gave me some healing elixirs,” the woman said. “I looked a bit disheveled then, so I might look different now, but I told you my name. I am Qiu Wutong of the Wuding Sect.”
Qiu Wutong? Yun He pondered for a moment, then a look of realization dawned on her face. “So it was you! You look completely different from how you did then.”
Qiu Wutong smiled and cupped her hands toward the Great Elder. “Senior Brother, Yun He once saved me. I can vouch for her character; she definitely wouldn’t be someone who commits evil.”
The Great Elder instinctively frowned, then patiently explained after considering Qiu Wutong’s standing within the sect.
“She may have shown you kindness, but the facts are right here. So many cultivators died tragically, so how can she be completely uninvolved? You cannot guarantee she isn’t a bad person simply because she saved you. Also, you saw what her companion just did to the City Lord, didn’t you?”
“Elder, based on what evidence do you conclude that we are bad people?” Yun Yu chuckled slightly. So, these were people from the Wuding Sect. “The reason I attacked the City Lord was simply that he intended to take my life first. For my own safety, of course I had to strike preemptively.”
“You yourself just admitted it! You directly destroyed the cultivation of the Maple Flower City Lord!” The Great Elder was very displeased with Yun Yu’s attitude. “Judging by your cultivation, you shouldn’t be rootless rogue cultivators. What sect are you from, to act with such ruthlessness?”
Yun Yu raised her hand to stop Yun He, who was about to give their sect’s name. “Regardless of our sect, all you need to know is that our swords are only drawn against evildoers.”
“I don’t know who sent the Wuding Sect members here, but I just want to tell you few that the people who lost their lives here today were people who deserved to die,” Yun Yu stated.
Yun Yu did not intend to throw out the name of the Dao-Seeking Sect right away. She wanted to see if the rumors about the Wuding Sect were true.
“Do the few of you have any proof for what you say?” the Great Elder asked patiently. Looking at the situation, these people must have some background, possibly from a major sect as well.
“Proof?” Yun Yu curled her lips. “The few of you only need to investigate the site yourselves to know our origins, and you’ll know if what I’m saying is the truth.”
“I am asking you a question. Do not divert the topic,” the Great Elder said, maintaining his patience. “No matter who you are, I only saw you attack the City Lord of Maple Flower City. If you cannot provide a suitable explanation now, do not blame me for showing you no mercy.”
Yun Yu remained silent, looking down at the unconscious Maple Flower City Lord. She contemplated whether to continue arguing with these people or just take direct action to gauge their strength.
“Great Elder, perhaps we should first go into the city to inquire about the situation,” Qiu Wutong had received a favor from Yun He and did not want her sect to clash with Yun He’s side.
The Great Elder paused. “Very well, but we must first ensure the City Lord’s safety.” As he spoke, his gaze also fell upon the Maple Flower City Lord.
If he hadn’t misjudged, the Maple Flower City Lord had broken through to the Nascent Soul Mid-stage a year ago. This person before him was only at the Nascent Soul Early-stage, yet she could so easily defeat someone one minor stage higher than herself. She must be cultivating a high-level cultivation technique.
After considering this, the Great Elder’s anger over Yun Yu’s preemptive strike subsided considerably, allowing him to more rationally assess the current situation.
Although the Wuding Sect was also a major sect, its foundation was not deep. The sect could only maintain its status due to the presence of a few Transcendent God stage Venerables and Qiu Wutong. If the opponents were truly from a major sect with a strong foundation, it would be best to maintain a friendly relationship.
Having sorted out the pros and cons, the Great Elder proactively backed down and spoke. “Would the few of you be so kind as to hand the City Lord over to us first? How about we investigate the truth of the matter and then make a final decision?”
“You may. Take him,” Yun Yu was very certain that she had already destroyed the City Lord’s Nascent Soul. Given the Wuding Sect’s reputation, this Great Elder likely wouldn’t waste too many elixirs on a cripple.
The development of the situation was roughly as Yun Yu expected. The Great Elder immediately examined the City Lord’s injuries. Upon finding that there was absolutely no possibility of recovery, his expression first turned solemn, then slowly relaxed.
After calling two low-level disciples to take the City Lord away, the Great Elder’s expression shifted once more, finally settling into a gentle look. “Are the few of you willing to sit down and talk?”
Yun Yu felt a slight desire to laugh. The Wuding Sect was indeed just as the rumors claimed: a sect without a stance, where the majority of its members prioritized profit. After finding the City Lord to be worthless, they immediately changed their attitude.
“With pleasure.” This outcome was exactly what Yun Yu wanted. Since the Wuding Sect rushed over, offering to clean up the mess for them, she would simply hand the entire situation over to them, avoiding unnecessary delays here.
The Great Elder of the Wuding Sect recognized Yun Yu as the decision-maker, so he politely invited her to one side, as if the previous conflict had never occurred.
Mo Xiao did not know what the two of them discussed, but she saw Qiu Wutong say a few words to the Great Elder, then walk towards Yun He.
“Thank you, Fellow Daoist Yun, for your assistance previously. This is my gratitude gift; please accept it,” Qiu Wutong said, taking out a storage ring and handing it to Yun He.
“Fellow Daoist Qiu, you don’t have to be so polite. I just gave you a few healing pills,” Yun He politely refused. She had only lent a small hand and never intended to ask for any compensation.
“In my view, Fellow Daoist Yun giving me those elixirs essentially saved my life. Since it is a life-saving grace, please accept my gift of gratitude,” Qiu Wutong still held out her hand, speaking sincerely. “I was indeed severely injured at the time, and if the person who came wasn’t Fellow Daoist Yun but someone motivated by greed, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be standing here well today.”
Qiu Wutong’s attitude was very earnest. Based on her logic, Yun He had indeed indirectly saved her life, and any amount of repayment for a life-saving favor was worthwhile.
Yun He felt awkward. After hesitating for a moment, she reached out and accepted the item Qiu Wutong gave her, then used her spiritual sense to examine its contents.
“This, Fellow Daoist Qiu, this gift is far too valuable! I cannot accept it!” Yun He was shocked by what she saw. She didn’t even need to mention the elixirs, but there were simply too many Nascent Soul stage spiritual artifacts inside! If converted into spiritual stones, it was roughly three times the value of all the spiritual stones she currently owned!
“Valuable?” Qiu Wutong seemed confused, re-examining the items she had given. “These are just some spiritual artifacts and elixirs that can be used by Core Formation stage cultivators.”
“Just some spiritual artifacts?” A question mark popped up over Yun He’s head. “But Fellow Daoist Qiu, these spiritual artifacts are quite good even in the eyes of Nascent Soul stage cultivators.”
“They are,” Qiu Wutong readily replied. “I saw that Fellow Daoist Yun uses a sword, so I prepared a few spiritual swords for you. What’s wrong? Are they not to your liking, Fellow Daoist Yun?”
“Fellow Daoist Qiu, do you know the value of these spiritual swords?” Yun He was even more confused. Since she knew they were Nascent Soul stage spiritual swords, why would she give them to her, and a total of six of them!
The expression on Qiu Wutong’s face also held some confusion. “I know. Each one is probably worth a few thousand high-grade spiritual stones.”
“A few thousand high-grade spiritual stones?!” Yun He was startled. These spiritual swords were even more expensive than she had imagined!
Mo Xiao and Zuo Wuyi watched the interaction between the two. Seeing the identical looks of confusion and bewilderment on both Yun He’s and Qiu Wutong’s faces, Zuo Wuyi couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“My apologies, I couldn’t help myself for a moment. Please continue. Just pretend I’m not here,” Zuo Wuyi said, raising her hand to cover her uncontrollably upturned lips.
These two were far too amusing!
She hadn’t expected the seemingly unimpressive Wuding Sect to have such an interesting disciple. This had to be a case of a silk purse from a sow’s ear, right?
Mo Xiao gave Zuo Wuyi a helpless look, then pulled on her sleeve, signaling her to restrain herself.
Finally, at Yun He’s subtle prompting, Qiu Wutong realized the root of the problem and quickly explained, “Fellow Daoist Yun, you may not know this, but I am actually an Artifact Refiner. I created all these spiritual swords myself.”
“If sold outside, they might be worth a few thousand high-grade spiritual stones, but in my eyes, they were all forged from ordinary materials,” Qiu Wutong explained. “If Fellow Daoist Yun feels uncomfortable, you can always send me any strange materials you find in the future.”
Yun He nodded, then asked with a hint of a probing tone, “You are a Nascent Soul stage Artifact Refiner?”
Qiu Wutong nodded, saying a little bashfully, “Last time, I was looking for materials and was accidentally attacked by a demonic beast, which is why I looked a bit disheveled.”
“I see, so that’s what happened.” If the other party was an Artifact Refiner, then Nascent Soul stage spiritual swords truly weren’t that precious in her eyes.
“Fellow Daoist Qiu, I can’t use so many spiritual swords. May I transfer your gift to others?” Yun He asked honestly.
“Of course. Once I’ve given them to Fellow Daoist Yun, they are your belongings. You can dispose of them however you wish,” Qiu Wutong replied readily, without the slightest hint of reluctance on her face.
