I Reloaded the Save File! [Transmigration] - Chapter 13
Zuo Wuyi had originally intended to stay with Mo Xiao until dawn, but she had severely overestimated her own endurance. Before the middle of the night arrived, she began to doze off, and in the end, she could only groggily squeeze into the covers with her eyes half-closed.
“Mo Xiao, when I go abroad, will you miss me?” Zuo Wuyi held her suitcase, her eyes slightly red.
Mo Xiao nodded, then pulled out the tissue she always carried with her. Before Zuo Wuyi could even conjure up any tears, Mo Xiao gently wiped her eyes.
“I will,” Mo Xiao’s answer was simple.
“I’ve calculated our time difference. I’ll call you every day at noon, which will be evening here. You must remember to answer my calls, and you are not allowed to turn off your phone!” Zuo Wuyi blinked her somewhat dry eyes.
“Alright. I will set aside the time between nine and ten in the evening.” Mo Xiao folded the tissue and put it into her pocket. “Take care of yourself while you are abroad.”
“Mhm.” Zuo Wuyi nodded, then hugged Mo Xiao tightly. “Remember, while I’m gone, you are not allowed to take an interest in anyone else, and you must wear the wristwatch and ring I gave you.”
Mo Xiao patted Zuo Wuyi’s back to comfort her. “I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
“Why not?” Zuo Wuyi raised her voice. “Don’t you want others to know about our relationship? Am I something to be kept a secret?”
“No, when doing experiments, you can’t wear anything on your hands,” Mo Xiao explained, pausing for a moment. “Also, it’s not very convenient when taking a shower.”
The tantrum Zuo Wuyi was about to throw was instantly doused by Mo Xiao’s words. She could only lower her voice. “Then, apart from when you are doing experiments and taking a shower?”
“I will keep them on my person,” Mo Xiao promised.
Zuo Wuyi pouted. “What are you offering as a guarantee?”
Mo Xiao considered it. “You can use video calls to check up on me anytime.”
“That won’t work. What if you pretend you didn’t see it and don’t answer my call?” Zuo Wuyi rested her chin on Mo Xiao’s shoulder, unable to resist rubbing against her neck. If it weren’t for their future, she wouldn’t want to leave Mo Xiao at all.
“Then what do you propose we do?” Mo Xiao asked.
“I want you to kiss me as a guarantee,” Zuo Wuyi said, then let go of Mo Xiao, stepping back half a pace to create some distance between them. “If you kiss me now, then I’ll believe you.”
Mo Xiao’s gaze swept over their surroundings. Probably because both of them were quite striking in appearance, many people were secretly watching them.
“Fine.” Mo Xiao hesitated for about three seconds before reaching up to cup the back of Zuo Wuyi’s head, pulling her into a deep kiss right on the mouth. After about half a minute, she finally released her. “Is that satisfactory?”
Zuo Wuyi’s face was flushed, but she forced herself to remain calm. “Satisfactory. I’m going to check in and board now.”
“Mhm, go on.” Mo Xiao stood rooted to the spot, ignoring the various stares from those around them. She watched as Zuo Wuyi took a few steps, turned back once, took a few more steps, and turned back again, until her figure completely disappeared.
“Mo Xiao!” Zuo Wuyi woke up with a start from the dream. Her first reaction was to throw off the blanket, sit up, and search everywhere for Mo Xiao’s presence.
Mo Xiao was not meditating or adjusting her breathing. Instead, she was sitting casually on a rock, holding a skewer of meat, roasting it by the campfire.
“Did you have a dream?” Mo Xiao turned her head to look at Zuo Wuyi.
Zuo Wuyi rubbed her eyes, taking a moment to fully realize her current situation. “Mhm. Senior Sister, what are you roasting? Is it my breakfast?”
Mo Xiao nodded. “Yun He said you are still young and shouldn’t eat the spirit-cleansing pills, so she got up early to catch a demonic beast.”
“Was this brought back by Senior Sister Yun He?” Zuo Wuyi looked around. “Huh? Why isn’t Senior Sister Yun He here?”
“I said she got up early to catch a demonic beast,” Mo Xiao repeated.
“Oh?” Zuo Wuyi blinked, taking a moment to catch on. “Did you prepare this skewer ahead of time too?”
Mo Xiao didn’t make a sound, only slowly rotating the skewer and sprinkling on some unknown seasonings. She had not prepared anything ahead of time; she had simply gone out briefly after Zuo Wuyi had fallen asleep. After all, she had seen the small bag of jerky Yun He had given Zuo Wuyi.
“Senior Sister, since you brought something with you, why didn’t you take it out and roast it last night?” Zuo Wuyi thought she had guessed correctly. She put on her shoes, socks, and outer garment and sat down next to Mo Xiao. “Could it be that you only thought of taking it out because Senior Sister Yun He said she was going out?”
Mo Xiao ignored Zuo Wuyi, letting her tease her about being jealous. When the skewer was nearly done, she handed it directly into Zuo Wuyi’s hands. “Eat quickly. We have limited time inside the mystic realm; don’t waste it on such trivial matters.”
“Alright.” Zuo Wuyi took the skewer, blew on it, and took a bite. Zuo Wuyi couldn’t tell what kind of meat it was, but she thought it tasted incredibly good, so she took another large bite.
“Senior Sister, don’t you want to try the meat skewer you roasted yourself?” Zuo Wuyi asked.
Mo Xiao shook her head. “There is very little spiritual power in this skewer. It’s useless to me.”
“Just take a bite and try it~” Zuo Wuyi said, holding the skewer up to Mo Xiao’s face. “Just one bite.”
Mo Xiao lowered her eyebrows slightly, then opened her mouth and took a small bite, chewing a few times before swallowing.
“How does it taste?” Zuo Wuyi asked, tilting her head.
“It’s cooked.” Before Mo Xiao could say anything more, Yun He’s cheerful voice came from outside the cave.
“Senior Sister, I got some demonic beast meat! I even picked out the best cut…” As Yun He was about to enter, she smelled the aroma of the meat. Seeing Zuo Wuyi already holding a skewer, she immediately stopped advancing and leaned out to peek outside.
“Senior Sister, did I leave for a long time?” Yun He asked dumbly. How was it that both of them were already eating?
Mo Xiao nodded solemnly. “Indeed, it’s been a while. You should keep the meat you retrieved for now and process it tonight.”
“Okay, Senior Sister.” Yun He looked at the block of meat in her hand, suppressing her confusion. She must have accidentally wandered too far, otherwise, her Senior Sister wouldn’t have already roasted the meat. Whether it was true or not, this was what it had to be!
After setting off, Yun He clearly felt that the way her Senior Sister and Junior Sister interacted had changed. No, to be precise, there had been a huge change. If their relationship was originally that of vague, subtle fellow disciples, it was now overtly suggestive of a romantic entanglement.
Adhering to the principle of “less said, less mistake; no said, no mistake,” Yun He pretended not to have noticed anything and continued to interact with the two as usual.
After exploring for about half an hour, the three simultaneously felt a strong fluctuation of spiritual energy and instinctively looked toward their front-left.
“Senior Sister.” Yun He turned to look at Mo Xiao.
“Draw your sword.” Mo Xiao reacted quickly, immediately drawing her spiritual sword, and standing upon it while holding Zuo Wuyi with one arm.
About a quarter of an hour later, the three stopped in front of a giant stone gate. The stone gate was wide open, and looking inside, they could only see a vast gray mist.
At the same time, many cultivators who had also detected the spiritual energy fluctuation rushed over. The more cautious ones chose to observe from a distance, just like Mo Xiao. Meanwhile, the more impatient ones didn’t stop at all and flew straight into the gate on their swords.
“Senior Sister, should we go in and take a look?” Yun He quietly placed her hand on her sword hilt, ready to strike at any moment.
Mo Xiao nodded. “Put on your defensive artifacts.”
“Understood.” Yun He did as instructed.
“Follow me closely.” Mo Xiao said, taking a jade pendant from her person and hanging it around Zuo Wuyi’s neck. Only then did she take Zuo Wuyi’s hand, and together, they walked toward the stone gate.
A gray mist enveloped the area near the stone gate. As soon as Mo Xiao’s body completely passed through the stone gate, she felt a sucking force pulling her down. Subconsciously, she drew her sword and slashed downwards.
The sword qi she unleashed dispersed the mist, revealing a blue stone slab and a passage lit by a faint, flickering light.
“Wuyi, stay close…” Mo Xiao’s voice trailed off. She turned to look beside her. Zuo Wuyi, whose hand she had just been holding, had vanished at some point, replaced by a vine with a similar shape and texture.
