I Really Want to Pet My Wife's Cat Ears - Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Nineteen Cats
“Shuoyu…” Ji Mianmian remained in her arched position, back turned, lightly flicking her tail as she called the name of the woman in the air once more.
Her voice was lilting and moving; her expression was a mix of shyness and trepidation.
Shuoyu’s eyes were practically glued to the cat tail that was being lifted every so often, but she struggled to maintain a calm expression, forcing herself to act like a proper gentlewoman.
She weighed her words and replied seriously, “I always thought you didn’t like being touched anywhere other than your head. Now that I know the tail is okay, I won’t be polite in the future…”
No one knew how hard her heart was pounding. Her hands almost trembled as she moved the controller.
She manipulated the transparent hand to stroke down the cat tail—snowy white at the base and ink-black at the tip section by section.
Ji Mianmian felt almost nothing when she grabbed her own tail, but the moment Shuoyu touched it, a current of electricity instantly swept through her body.
She couldn’t help but let out a muffled groan that would make anyone’s ears turn red.
At the same time, both women, inside and outside the screen, couldn’t help but bite their lower lips from the stimulation.
“No more for now, baby… let’s save it for next time.”
Before Shuoyu’s willpower could be completely crushed, she swallowed to moisten her parched throat and stopped the tail-stroking in time. Instead, she moved her hand to Ji Mianmian’s cat ears, soothing them with gentle, rhythmic strokes.
“Hmm? What’s wrong?” Ji Mianmian hadn’t quite pulled herself out of that warm, tingling sensation. When she looked up, her eyes were still misty with warm vapor, and her voice carried a cute, nasal quality.
Shuoyu gazed at the girl on the screen with dark, deep eyes. She took a deep breath, exerting her utmost to suppress the spreading desire.
“Don’t be afraid, baby. You are my favorite cat. In my heart, you are completely different from the others. To be a bit heartless, the other cats are just passersby to me. If there ever comes a day I don’t want to come to Cat Island anymore, you will be my only reason to stay. Even if you never let me touch or pet you, you are the most special one.”
Ji Mianmian turned around to sit on the bed, leaning her back against the warm-colored wall. She listened to her intently, and the gloom in her heart dissipated bit by bit.
Every cat could see Shuoyu’s special treatment of her. Just as she said, Shuoyu’s attitude toward her had been unique from the very beginning. Because she looked like a human, she had always been ostracized by other cats in the past, but looking at it now, perhaps that was a blessing in disguise.
Shuoyu had never imagined that one day she would confess her feelings so sincerely to a game character. But at this very moment, her emotions and her thoughts were entirely swayed by the young girl before her.
If Ji Mianmian was unsatisfied, Shuoyu would rather cancel tonight’s party and keep stroking her tail for hours. Fortunately, the small emojis above Mianmian’s head had all changed to symbols of joy, happiness, and bliss. This lighthearted mood made her entire being radiant and even more endearing.
Looking up and reading the concern and passion in the eyes of the woman who was as dazzling as a deity, Mianmian felt for a moment as if she were being scorched. Thinking back to her behavior this afternoon—secretly being jealous and sad—she felt like such a dummy!
Ji Mianmian’s cat ears twitched, unwilling to accept her own silliness today. After a moment of thought, she looked at Shuoyu with a hint of expectation, her voice soft: “I really like the name ‘baby.’ Can you call me that often from now on?”
When Shuoyu didn’t make an expression, she looked like a cold, noble, and unapproachable yujie. But her inner world was actually overflowing with emotion. Hearing this, her eyes lit up instantly, and her voice became syrupy: “Of course! Mianmian baby, baby wife—I’ve wanted to call you that for a long time!”
Ever since Shuoyu arrived on Cat Island, vocabulary and meanings that didn’t belong to the island would pop into Ji Mianmian’s mind from time to time. For instance, “wife” referred to a spouse and partner—it was a heavy, solemn title. She and Shuoyu were not in that kind of relationship yet. She hurriedly waved her hands in a panic: “Sister, don’t call me wife. We aren’t married yet… it’s not appropriate to call me that randomly.”
Shuoyu had gotten carried away for a moment and accidentally let slip the title she used to show off to Shen Zhiyin in private. She figured that perhaps her favorability wasn’t high enough yet, or that she could only use that title after holding a wedding ceremony on the island. She immediately curled her lips into a smile, looking like a loyal dog who would do whatever Ji Mianmian said: “Then I won’t call you that for now, my sweet baby.”
Ji Mianmian’s petty emotions had built up slowly and exploded all at once, so they came quickly and left just as fast. Now that her dejection had vanished and they had cleared the air, she planned to practice her archery again before it got dark. She knelt on the bed, fastening her maid apron while tidying her hair. “Aren’t you going out? I delayed you for a bit; go now.”
Shuoyu looked up at the wall clock and let out an “Aiyah.” She had spent a full half-hour coaxing her “wife.” In a little while, Shen Zhiyin would be pushing her door open to call her over for drinks. She immediately dropped the controller as if her eyebrows were on fire: “See you later, baby. I’m going to do my makeup now!”
Shuoyu’s vanity table was placed prominently on the right side of the living room near the bay window. The light was best here during the day, and it was where she most often tested looks when she first started modeling to figure out which styles suited her face.
Shen Zhiyin had mentioned it this morning, so Shuoyu had picked out her outfit in advance. She didn’t have time to turn off the TV, so she marched her long legs to the vanity and opened her eyeshadow palette to decide on a look. Because of the screen mirroring, the camera tied to the TV could only capture a half-profile of her movements. One could see her elbow moving as she applied makeup, but her face was impossible to see.
The image wasn’t particularly interesting, yet as Ji Mianmian walked toward the archery range with her bow, she couldn’t help but take a few steps and then look up at her. It wasn’t until the controller had been inactive for too long that the TV screen naturally went black.
Shuoyu possessed a face praised by countless makeup artists and photographers. Her contours were smooth, her eyes deep, her lip lines distinct, and her high bridge was striking from any angle. Even without makeup, people couldn’t help but steal extra glances at her.
When she applied a glamorous cut-crease eye look, paired with her 178cm height, her aura was maxed out. Just standing there, she was full of “alpha” energy, making one feel that the spotlight belonged on her.
When Shuoyu entered Shen Zhiyin’s home wearing a high ponytail, “hot girl” makeup, a lettered camisole sweater vest, straight-leg printed jeans that lengthened her silhouette, and a color-blocked coat over it, she was a vision. The moment she hung up her coat, everyone who saw her couldn’t help but cheer.
It was very noisy with so many people, and mixed with the rhythmic music, the place felt like a private club. Bypassing several people asking for her contact info, Shuoyu tugged on Ka Ling’s sleeve, her tone cold and elegant: “Where’s Ah Yin?”
As a model, her professional poise meant she wasn’t afraid to go out in an outfit that showcased her charm and personality. But usually, when she walked the runway, the audience would only appreciate and photograph they wouldn’t rush up to confess or ask for her number…
If it had been before lunch, Shuoyu’s behavior of asking for Shen Zhiyin’s whereabouts the moment she entered would have earned her a roll of the eyes from Ka Ling. But now, Ka Ling knew the “paper tiger” nature of this woman. What else could she do for a person who looked glamorous on the outside but was a socially averse 2D-lover on the inside? Building a wall of social isolation to let her safely be a wallflower was for the best.
Thus, Ka Ling simply gave her a playful look, crossed her legs, and patted the empty seat beside her: “She went out to pick someone up. Sit with me first.”
