- Chapter 6 - Scumming That Wealthy Old Man (6)
The nightclub was not far from the university—only two blocks away. Since this was a college town, the staff were mostly local students looking for quick cash, with only a few full-time workers mixed in.
Chi Zhao was dragged into a private booth. It was crowded; six men sat on the sofas. From their demeanors alone, it was obvious that three were there to be entertained, and the other three were there to provide the entertainment.
Unsurprisingly, sitting in the center was Duan Bo.
Duan Bo looked at him and let out an ambiguous chuckle. “I told you to come yourself, but you refused. You just had to make me go through all the trouble of ‘inviting’ you. Was that really necessary?”
The boy leaning against Duan Bo laughed along. He looked incredibly delicate—likely just having turned eighteen, if not younger. Hearing him laugh, Chi Zhao realized that “sissy” types really did exist in this world.
And he laughs with more seductive charm than most women!
“Brother Duan, so this is the one you were waiting for? He looks skin-and-bones and doesn’t seem too bright. He’s been in here for how long and hasn’t even greeted you? Zero social awareness—he’s leagues behind me.”
Duan Bo sneered, “Nonsense. How can he compare to you? At least you’re worth buying. Even if he stripped naked, no one would bother to spare a glance.”
Duan Bo was trying to provoke Qi Yuan. He was waiting for even a flicker of anger so his subordinates could beat the boy on the spot. Once Qi Yuan couldn’t take it anymore and started crying for mercy, then he’d really start “playing” with him.
Chi Zhao saw the filthy intent swirling in the man’s eyes and frowned. He detested being looked at like that. “Duan Bo, what exactly do you want?”
“Oh—look how fast you flip. Weren’t you just calling me ‘Senior’ every other day a few days ago, asking when I’d take you out to play?” Duan Bo stood up and snatched a beer bottle from the table. The glass was chilled and biting. He tapped the bottle mockingly against Chi Zhao’s cheek. “Your Senior has brought you out to play now. What, is Junior unhappy?”
【I’m detecting a massive spike in Malice Points. Host, you should probably play nice. Li Yihan won’t be here for at least five minutes, but this kid looks like he’s going to hit you in five seconds.】
Chi Zhao asked in his mind, Has Li Yihan hung up yet?
【No, he’s still listening.】
Good enough.
Chi Zhao calmly lifted his gaze. “Yeah, I’m unhappy. Because I promised someone I’d never come to a place like this again.”
Duan Bo froze, clearly not expecting Chi Zhao to dare defy him in this situation.
“My character hasn’t been great in the past, so even if I say I want to change, not many people will believe me. But I really hope the person who told me not to come can trust me. So, let’s just not make things difficult for each other, okay?”
Duan Bo was nearly laughing from rage; he didn’t even know which part of that speech to mock first. “Difficult for each other? Qi Yuan, open your eyes and look at yourself. Who the hell do you think you are?”
Smash! Duan Bo shattered the bottom of the beer bottle. Without giving anyone time to react, he swung the jagged glass toward Chi Zhao’s face. A new host, never having seen such violence, let out a terrified scream.
Li Yihan’s heart tightened. He had been listening to everything. The driver was going as fast as possible, but Li Yihan wasn’t a superhero; he couldn’t teleport. He gripped his phone, his face a thundercloud of fury. The driver glanced at the master’s expression in the rearview mirror and pressed the accelerator even harder.
License revocation be damned—I cannot be the one holding him back right now!
Li Yihan hadn’t known the destination was a nightclub. Once Chi Zhao’s location stopped moving, he had called the police immediately knowing that “distant water cannot put out a nearby fire”—but to his frustration, he arrived before the police did.
Li Yihan strode into the club. The front desk and greeters didn’t recognize him and tried to block his way, but his men shoved them aside. The manager, sensing a riot, rushed out to investigate. Before he could even open his mouth, Li Yihan seized him by his tie.
Li Yihan’s voice was like a demon from the abyss. “Where is Duan Bo’s room? Take me there. Now!”
The manager couldn’t afford to offend Duan Bo, but one look at this man’s face told him he’d die if he didn’t comply. He led Li Yihan to the booth without a word. halfway there, he finally realized why this violent man looked so familiar.
That’s Li Yihan.
The manager wanted to cry. The head of the Li family was here for the Duan heir, and clearly with blood on his mind. By the time he was done, would this newly opened club even be left standing?
When the door swung open, Li Yihan expected to see a scene of wreckage with Qi Yuan lying half-dead or worse.
He did see a scene of wreckage, and someone was indeed half-dead. But it wasn’t Qi Yuan. It was Duan Bo.
Qi Yuan was standing on the far left of the room. Duan Bo was pinned beside him, his torso splayed over the sofa while his legs dangled on the floor. His arms were twisted behind his back in a painful lock. Duan Bo had no choice in the matter; his face was covered in blood. Qi Yuan had one foot planted firmly on the man’s back, one hand securing the arm lock, and the other holding the jagged neck of the broken bottle, the glass shards inches from Duan Bo’s face.
The moment they entered, they heard Qi Yuan shout: “Don’t come any closer, or I’ll tear the host—I mean, his face!”
Everyone: “…”
Duan Bo’s lackeys didn’t dare move, fearing the young master’s prized face would be ruined. The others were scared out of their wits—if anything happened to Duan Bo here, they were all doomed!
A silent dog bites the hardest.
For a moment, everyone was thinking the same thing, including Assistant Zhao.
He was hiding his strength! To counter-attack and pin Duan Bo under the eyes of so many people wasn’t something you learned in two days of exercise. Qi Yuan knew how to fight? Why hadn’t the investigation picked that up?
While Assistant Zhao was reeling, Li Yihan recovered from his shock. He walked over to Chi Zhao, looked him over, then looked at Duan Bo, and finally returned his gaze to Chi Zhao. “Let him go.”
From the moment Li Yihan entered, Chi Zhao’s expression had visibly relaxed. Upon hearing the command, he let go immediately, tossed the broken bottle aside, and hurried to Li Yihan’s side. He opened his mouth to say how scared he was, but remembering what Li Yihan had just witnessed, he felt a surge of guilt and lowered his head. “Mr. Li, why are you here?”
Before Li Yihan could answer, a vengeful Duan Bo scrambled up, intending to lunge at the back of Chi Zhao’s head. Li Yihan’s face darkened. He grabbed Chi Zhao by the arm, yanking him behind his back, and delivered a brutal kick. He had aimed for the stomach, but due to the height difference, the kick landed squarely on the ribs. Duan Bo slumped, breaking into a cold sweat from the pain.
His men hurried to help him up. Having recognized Li Yihan, they didn’t know whether to fight back. Li Yihan swept his gaze across everyone in the room; his eyes were those of a reaper.
“I have nothing to say to you. Go home and complain to your father. And tell him that all cooperation between the Li and Duan families is over. If he doesn’t understand why, you can explain it to him in detail.”
With that, Li Yihan prepared to lead Chi Zhao away. They had only taken a few steps when Duan Bo screamed through the pain, “On what grounds? Li Yihan, I didn’t even provoke you!”
Li Yihan’s footsteps paused. He turned his head and looked coldly at Duan Bo. “But you provoked Qi Yuan.”
Chi Zhao watched this scene with a calm face, while inwardly cheering for Li Yihan: Oh yeah! Old men are the best!!
System: “…”
Stop cheering for a second. Can you explain how someone who looks like a weakling like you knows high-level combat arts?
