- Chapter 1 - Scumming That Wealthy Old Man (1)
【Are you ready?】
Chi Zhao nodded vigorously. “Ready!”
The countdown began. The moment the System hit “one,” a flash of white light blinded Chi Zhao, followed by a wave of intense vertigo. Before he could even open his eyes, he felt his stomach churn violently.
The System hurriedly pointed him toward the toilet. After retching until his stomach was empty and resting for a long while, Chi Zhao finally managed to speak. “Why is world-hopping so nauseating?”
【It’s your first time; discomfort is normal. You’ll get used to it later.】
【Here, I’ve sent you the data for this world. Read it carefully. You must follow the plotline and roleplay strictly.】
Chi Zhao let out a weak “mhm” and slumped against the side of the toilet, closing his eyes to scroll through the world data the System had provided.
The System’s full name was the “Scum Shou Roleplay System.” Chi Zhao was a “lonely ghost”—though that wasn’t entirely accurate, as he had only been dead for a day. Just as he was wondering whether to find the reincarnation gate himself or wait for the Reapers to collect him, the System appeared.
It offered a deal: Chi Zhao would bind with it, travel to different worlds to play the “Scum Shou” (the unfaithful/toxic bottom), and earn “Success Points.” Each successful world earned 10 points. Once he reached 100 points, he could exchange them for a Bottle of Resurrection, allowing him to return to his life.
Chi Zhao was only twenty. He had spent three months cramming for his English CET-4 exam, only to die the day before the test. The sheer injustice of it made him agree to the binding without a second thought.
Only after binding did he realize a serious problem: “Is there a penalty if I fail?”
The System felt a flicker of sympathy. His life is gone, and apparently, his IQ went with it. What was the point of asking now that they were already bound?
Still, the System answered considerately: There was no penalty, but if he failed to complete the mission, he would be trapped in these worlds forever. No rest, no breaks—just eternal roleplaying until he hit 100 points.
To most, the word “forever” would be terrifying. But Chi Zhao didn’t think that far ahead. He thought it sounded okay—even if he couldn’t leave, at least he wouldn’t be “dead” dead. Besides, it was just acting. How hard could it be?
Naive student Chi Zhao had no idea what kind of mistake he was making.
The Scum Shou Roleplay System was exactly what it sounded like. Since he was a novice, the System had brought him to a low-difficulty world. As long as one followed the script, success was nearly guaranteed.
In this world, Chi Zhao was playing a character named Qi Yuan. Qi Yuan was an orphan college student who had been supported by an anonymous wealthy donor since high school. Everything—tuition, living expenses, even pocket money—came from this benefactor. Instead of gratitude, however, Qi Yuan harbored resentment and jealousy. He felt that because the donor was so rich, the “small” amount he received was an act of stinginess.
Qi Yuan had always wanted to track down the donor to demand more money, but the benefactor was too well-hidden. It wasn’t until college that the donor—who had no children or heirs found his grip on power slipping. He needed a “fake heir” to stabilize his position, and he chose Qi Yuan.
Qi Yuan finally met his benefactor. He knew the man was rich, but he hadn’t realized how rich. The man was Li Yihan, the head of the city’s most powerful family, the Li Clan.
Li Yihan was thirty-two, fourteen years older than Qi Yuan. Upon meeting him, Qi Yuan’s plan changed. He didn’t just want the money anymore; he wanted everything Li Yihan had—from his wealth to the man himself.
At this point in the text, Chi Zhao went “Spartan.”
What do you mean “from his wealth to the man himself”? It’s not what I think it is, right?
It turned out to be exactly what he thought. As the fake heir, Qi Yuan moved into Li Yihan’s house and systematically earned his trust while subtly trying to seduce him. Unfortunately, Li Yihan never took the bait. The longer Qi Yuan stayed with the Li family, the more he refused to let go of the lavish lifestyle. After exhausting every trick in the book, he finally seduced Li Yihan—only to accidentally discover that Li Yihan had already written a will. Upon his death, everything would be donated to charity. The Li relatives and Qi Yuan would get nothing.
Qi Yuan instantly lost interest in Li Yihan. His old complaints curdled into pure hatred. While maintaining a facade of devotion to Li Yihan, he began an affair with other wealthy men. When Li Yihan’s rivals caught wind of this, they offered Qi Yuan a few “treats,” and he eagerly began working for them.
Li Yihan trusted Qi Yuan and didn’t realize he was leaking company secrets. Eventually, however, he grew suspicious. Panicked, Qi Yuan decided to end it once and for all and tampered with Li Yihan’s car.
He intended to kill him, but Li Yihan was incredibly lucky. He survived, though he was left permanently paralyzed. While Li Yihan was in the ICU in a coma, Qi Yuan embezzled every cent he could from the Li family and fled the country to live a life of debauchery abroad.
Poor Li Yihan woke up to find he could no longer walk and his company’s funds were gone. Worst of all, his investigation revealed that Qi Yuan was the culprit.
One could imagine the depth of Li Yihan’s hatred. Qi Yuan spent two years abroad and developed a drug addiction. He quickly squandered the stolen money. With no funds for his habit, he went back to his old ways: seducing men. He had gotten away with it before because everyone knew Li Yihan was his backer; now, with no protection, he was easy prey.
Qi Yuan soon hit rock bottom, drowning in debt and offending local gangs. That was when he saw the news from home: Li Yihan had returned to the peak of the business world and, miraculously, his legs were healed.
Qi Yuan figured that since Li Yihan was fine now, he surely wouldn’t hold a grudge. He used his last savings for a flight back and desperately tried to contact him.
Finally, Li Yihan came to see him. In a dilapidated rental room, Li Yihan smiled like a demon. He told Qi Yuan that the people who got him hooked on drugs and the gangs he had offended were all his doing—all to force Qi Yuan to crawl back on his own so Li Yihan could see the pathetic state he was in.
After enjoying the view, Li Yihan sat by and watched as his subordinates broke both of Qi Yuan’s legs and gouged out his eyes. Then, he left Qi Yuan there to rot.
Within three days, Qi Yuan was dead. He died of pain, and he died of hunger.
Having read the ending, Chi Zhao silently sat up from the floor. He asked the System, “This is a beginner world?”
【Yes! Isn’t it simple?】
Simple? This is Hard Mode from Hell!
The veins in Chi Zhao’s forehead throbbed. He clutched his head. “Let me summarize. You’re saying I have to seduce multiple people and sleep with all of them?”
【Correct.】
“Then I have to hide it from Li Yihan, sell his secrets to his rivals, and then cripple him for life?”
【Yup!】
“And finally, I have to be brutally retaliated against, live a miserable life abroad, have my legs broken and eyes blinded, and starve to death in a shack?”
【Bingo! Isn’t it easy?】
Haha, so easy.
Chi Zhao wanted to cry. “Is it too late to back out? Everyone dies eventually; I think leaving the world peacefully is fine. How about we unbind?”
Sensing the host’s negativity, the System quickly consoled him.
【Don’t be scared! I can block your pain receptors once they hit a certain threshold. And the ‘sleeping together’ bit is fake; I can provide ‘Spring Night’ potions for free. Use them however you want—no one will notice that nothing actually happened.】
Chi Zhao finally relaxed. With those two issues solved, he only had one concern left.
What if my conscience doesn’t allow me to be this much of a jerk? TAT
【It’s precisely because of your ‘scummy’ behavior that he reaches his future heights! Look, before you ‘scummed’ him, Li Yihan was just a standard wealthy old man. After you, he instantly levels up into a ruthless, high-tier mogul!】
Chi Zhao: “…” That actually makes sense.
【Li Yihan is here! Good luck! I’m supporting you in spirit!】
Li Yihan had actually arrived a minute ago. He had looked around, and seeing no one, he frowned and pushed open the bathroom door. He froze when he saw Chi Zhao sitting on the floor, looking deathly pale. He walked over.
“What’s wrong? Are you unwell?”
The data provided by the System was text-based, so Chi Zhao didn’t know what Qi Yuan or Li Yihan looked like. Seeing Li Yihan’s face now, Chi Zhao nearly gasped.
He was too handsome!
How could the original Qi Yuan have brought himself to hurt someone this good-looking? Terrible! His conscience must have been truly rotten!
【Host, don’t forget, you are now the one with the rotten conscience.】
After a brief silence, Chi Zhao focused on Li Yihan. He shook his head weakly and tried to use the toilet to pull himself up. His body was naturally frail, and currently, he had zero strength. The moment he tried to stand on his left leg, he stumbled.
Li Yihan reached out instantly. Thanks to him, Chi Zhao didn’t hit the floor; instead, he tumbled right into Li Yihan’s arms.
The person in his arms felt like a sheet of paper—light and weightless. Holding his arm, Li Yihan was almost afraid that a bit too much pressure would shatter him.
Chi Zhao was already dizzy, and the fall left him dazed for several seconds. When he regained his senses, he realized he was no longer in the bathroom. He was lying on a bed, with Li Yihan’s hand still resting on his waist. Li Yihan was speaking to someone outside: “Uncle Zhang, let them know the Young Master is unwell. We won’t be attending the banquet tonight.”
Before Chi Zhao could figure out the situation, a jubilant voice echoed in his mind.
【Sending you a ‘666’ (kudos)! Incredible! You understood the essence of seduction right from the start! You really are the most talented host I’ve ever seen!】
Chi Zhao: What?
