- Chapter 79 - The Disabled Boss and Her Little Sweetheart
Xun Fangyun was being discharged from the hospital. After staying in the hospital with her mouth sealed for half a month, the day of her discharge had finally arrived.
“From now on, pay attention to recuperation, and come to the hospital for a check-up once a week,” Si Nan said, looking at Xun Fangyun with the medical record book. “You still cannot walk or speak. Get more sun and drink more water. I will notify you when you are able to get out of the wheelchair.”
Xun Fangyun’s face was dark and she seemed to be bubbling with frustration. She was utterly fed up with this life where she couldn’t move or speak. Except for when Mang Ke came to visit her, every day was extremely depressing.
Si Nan couldn’t help but sigh. “Don’t rush. You were lying down for several years. What’s a few more months of recovery?”
Xun Fangyun felt there was some truth to what she said.
“Take the prescribed medicine with you. If I have time to see Mang Ke, I’ll drop by to see you too,” Si Nan closed the medical record book. “Congratulations, Miss Xun. You’ll soon be living like a normal person.”
Xun Fangyun looked at her and couldn’t help but open her mouth and say, “Thank you.”
‘Click—’
The nanny took a photo of Xun Fangyun with her phone and noted in her journal: “First sentence today, three characters.”
Xun Fangyun was annoyed.
Si Nan couldn’t help but laugh out loud, then quickly straightened her expression and said, “Do not talk secretly at home. Not even sleep-talking. You must follow the doctor’s orders.”
Xun Fangyun let out a frustrated grunt. Not even sleep-talking was allowed—was this truly a life for a human being?!
After taking care of the scattered final details, Xun Fangyun looked toward the hospital room door. Mang Ke was outside, tidying things up with the nanny. Seeing her happily folding clothes and chatting, Xun Fangyun felt her limbs itch.
She looked down at her legs. Although they were no longer painful or numb, they still lacked strength. It would probably take at least three months before she could walk.
But at least there was hope, wasn’t there? After all, this life was much more real than those ephemeral worlds she had experienced.
“Are you two finished talking?” Mang Ke peeked her head inside and said to Si Nan and Xun Fangyun, “Auntie just said the driver is waiting for us downstairs, asking what time we can leave.”
Si Nan put her hands in the pockets of her white coat and smiled at Mang Ke. “We’ve finished our talk. I’ve also explained the rest to the nanny and housekeeper. If there are any problems, they can call me directly.”
Mang Ke leaned closer to look at Si Nan’s work badge and said in surprise, “You’re officially full-time now?”
“Yes, my internship is over. From now on, I am a fully qualified doctor,” Si Nan said with satisfaction. “To think I only became full-time close to thirty—it really wasn’t easy.”
Mang Ke’s eyes curved in a smile. “Do your uncle and aunt know?”
“I haven’t told them yet.”
“Then let’s have a meal together another day, and we can tell them the good news!”
Si Nan nodded. “Then, whenever you have time, let’s have a family meal together.”
Mang Ke smiled brightly. “Okay, I think I’ll be finished with my busy tasks soon.”
Sitting in her wheelchair, Xun Fangyun pouted, feeling completely uncomfortable watching the two of them chatting so intimately. She let out a muffled grunt and thumped her wheelchair once.
Wheelchair: HP -1
Mang Ke heard the noise, turned her head, and scurried over. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Xun Fangyun reached out, pulled Mang Ke over, and plunged her head into her waist.
She completely radiated an aura of ‘Mang Ke is mine, mine, mine, mine.’
Si Nan scratched her cheek and felt compelled to retreat. “I just remembered I have something to do. You two should tidy up and leave quickly. This room is scheduled for a new patient this afternoon.”
“Oh, alright.” Mang Ke looked back at Si Nan and waved her hand. “I’ll find you next time~”
“Good.”
Even after everyone was gone, Xun Fangyun continued to hug Mang Ke, which made Mang Ke feel a little self-conscious since the nanny was still standing by the door.
“How long are you going to hug me?” Mang Ke’s face was red as she looked down at Xun Fangyun’s dark head. She couldn’t help but whisper, “Someone will be coming soon.”
Xun Fangyun lifted her head from Mang Ke’s abdomen, looking up at her with a humph. Her eyebrows furrowed, showing displeasure.
How could his wife talk and laugh with someone else, even if she was just an older neighbor sister?
Xun Fangyun was very angry, and the consequences would be severe.
Xun Fangyun reached out, grabbed Mang Ke’s shoulders, and pulled her down. Mang Ke was caught off guard and pulled right in front of her, her hands pressing against the armrests on either side of the wheelchair.
A faint sweetness rushed over. Mang Ke felt Xun Fangyun’s eyes drawing closer and closer, until they were almost touching.
The sensation on her lips was gentle. Mang Ke realized the sweet scent was fruit tea.
Xun Fangyun gripped Mang Ke’s clothes to pull her closer, trying to pry open her mouth. Mang Ke panicked for a moment and tried to back away, but her foot tripped over the wheelchair, causing both her and the wheelchair to crash to the floor!
‘Boom—’
A loud noise echoed in the room. Xun Fangyun looked down, placed her hands on the floor beside Mang Ke’s ears, and stared down at her.
Mang Ke covered her eyes and remained silent. Xun Fangyun saw that her earlobes were fiercely red and couldn’t help but curl the corner of her mouth. She slowly lowered her head and gently licked Mang Ke’s lips.
The soft touch on her mouth made Mang Ke tingle all over. She couldn’t help but whisper, “Someone will come…”
“I don’t care.”
Xun Fangyun’s low, husky voice rang in her ear. She gently nibbled Mang Ke’s lip with her teeth, feeling the other person’s frantic heartbeat.
She took Mang Ke’s hands and pinned them to the side.
Xun Fangyun saw Mang Ke’s cheeks flushed crimson, her eyes tearful as she stared at her. That sight made her throat itch slightly.
Without another word, Xun Fangyun lowered her head and covered Mang Ke’s mouth with hers.
Although the two had kissed many times before, this was the first time in the real world. The sticky sensation between their lips and teeth was more intense than ever, stimulating Mang Ke’s spine. Waves of dizziness rose from her feet upward, like a drowning person gradually being swallowed by the sea.
Their fingers were intertwined. Mang Ke felt like her nails were digging into Xun Fangyun’s flesh, but the electric sensation of the kiss made her unable to control her strength.
Their breathing began to grow heavy.
Mang Ke wanted to stop Xun Fangyun’s fervent kiss, but the sound that escaped her lips startled even herself.
“Yunyun…”
It sounded like a whimper, or more like an invitation.
Xun Fangyun pulled away from Mang Ke’s mouth, looked down at her teary expression, and couldn’t help but ask, “Do you like it?”
Mang Ke’s face got even redder.
I like it. I like it a lot…
Xun Fangyun lowered her head and bit Mang Ke’s neck.
“Ah!”
Mang Ke felt a sting of pain. Xun Fangyun lessened her strength, then sucked on the spot she had just bitten, and finally licked it, as if savoring her own private dessert.
“There,” Xun Fangyun propped herself up and looked at her. “This way, everyone will know you are mine.”
From her perspective, Mang Ke was pinned beneath her on the floor, her earlobes and cheeks scarlet, and there was a very obvious ‘hickey’ on her neck—the mark she had just left.
This sort of ambiguous love bite would be hard to hide without a scarf. Xun Fangyun wanted exactly this result. She knew that given Mang Ke’s shy nature, she would wait until the mark disappeared before going out to play. At that rate, she would just leave new ones one after another, ensuring Mang Ke would always be too embarrassed to leave the house.
Xun Fangyun rolled over and sat on the floor. She glanced at her legs, thinking that if it weren’t for them, her performance just now could have been better.
She tried to move, then gripped the side of the wheelchair, attempting to stand up, but found her knees had no strength. A shooting pain went through her leg when she tried to exert force, and she ultimately just fell back onto the floor.
Mang Ke saw that Xun Fangyun’s forehead and palms were covered in cold sweat. She rushed over and asked anxiously, “Don’t use force! I’ll help you up!”
With Mang Ke’s help, Xun Fangyun was back in her wheelchair. Her forehead was drenched in sweat. She said weakly, “It seems I still can’t stand up.”
Mang Ke knelt in front of her knees and said angrily, “That’s what you get for being so reckless!”
Xun Fangyun reached out and touched Mang Ke’s cheek, saying with some disappointment and grievance, “I want to be like a normal couple with you, not sitting here in a wheelchair.”
Mang Ke was momentarily stunned, then comforted her. “Didn’t Si Nan tell you not to rush? Just recover for a few more months. These days won’t make a difference.”
The road ahead was still long, and sitting in a wheelchair now was nothing.
Xun Fangyun nodded, reaching up to touch her throat. She had spoken a lot just now, and her throat was still a little sore.
Seeing this, Mang Ke took a throat lozenge from nearby and gave it to Xun Fangyun to suck on. Xun Fangyun frowned but didn’t spit it out, holding it on her tongue.
Just as the two were face-to-face, the sound of high heels clicking on the floor came from the doorway.
Xun Fangyun’s mother (Xun Mu) appeared at the door. Her white sweater, denim jeans, and black trench coat made her look particularly capable and youthful. She didn’t look at all like a middle-aged woman with a child in her twenties.
She glanced at Xun Fangyun and then at Mang Ke.
She had actually seen Mang Ke many times at the villa and knew she was her daughter’s savior, so her attitude toward her was friendly.
“Little Ke is here too,” Xun Mu said, smiling lightly as she walked over. She said to the two of them, “The driver is already downstairs. I’ll push Yunyun. Let’s go down together.”
Mang Ke was a little nervous. She was still somewhat afraid of her future mother-in-law, always trying to present herself carefully. She picked up Xun Fangyun’s belongings and stood aside, saying, “I’ll just help carry the things.”
Xun Fangyun glanced at Mang Ke, reached out, grabbed her wrist, and looked up at her with her dark, bright eyes.
The meaning was clear: she was telling Mang Ke not to be afraid of her mother, and that she should go with the two of them.
Xun Mu also smiled and said, “Little Ke is not an outsider. There’s no need to be so polite with us. Just let the nanny take these.”
“But…”
Xun Mu waved her hand, calling over a nanny standing at the door and asking her to help with the luggage. Then she said to Mang Ke, “That’s fine. Let’s go.”
After getting into a black sedan, Xun Fangyun saw that Mang Ke was much more at ease, so she took her hand and shook it, as a gesture of comfort.
Xun Mu sat in the passenger seat with her phone, and the driver steered onto the main road.
After sending a few text messages, Xun Mu turned to the two of them and asked, “Little Ke, are you busy tonight?”
“Huh?” Mang Ke was surprised and replied, “No, I’m not busy.”
“That’s good,” Xun Mu shook the phone in her hand and said, “I’ve notified our relatives to come and welcome Yunyun home. She’s been ill for several years, and many relatives can’t wait to see her. We’ve set up a banquet at home tonight. You should come and attend too.”
Mang Ke froze in place. Xun Fangyun’s family gathering—and she was invited to attend?
Didn’t that mean… she was going to meet the family members?!
